Chapter 28 Borrowing Money

"Lawrence, thank you," Klein said, sounding both happy and touched.

No matter what the outcome, from their perspective, the other party genuinely wanted to help them, but only wanted to pocket the middleman's markup.

Philip sensed the other's sincerity and smiled. "Actually, Lawrence Slytherin is my alias. My real name is Philip Howard, which I've temporarily abandoned for certain reasons."

He didn't mention the Rose School, not even when he was evading pursuit, not because he distrusted Klein, but because he wanted to be on the safe side and wait for the Rose School's influence to dissipate before revealing anything further.

Abandoning his original name, "Temperance," the Rose School's unusual activities in Loen... Klein blinked, piecing together these pieces of information, and arrived at the answer:

Lawrence, no, Philip, was a member of the temperance faction of the Rose School. Even if he wasn't a positive member, he was definitely not free from the faction, so he came to Tingen to escape the persecution of the indulgent faction.

In this way, it makes sense that the captain and his team discovered them, recruited them as clerical staff, and were so interested in the Rose School.

Klein guessed the answer and nodded. "I'll keep it a secret."

"Alright, I'll leave the Roselle Diary to you." Seeing this, Philip steered the conversation back on track. "No need to rush. Right now, that being only needs two diaries, and the three pages in the archives are more than enough. Take your time."

"You could try posting a commission at the Dragon Bar; the price shouldn't be too outrageous, and I'll reimburse you. By the way, didn't you graduate from Tingen University? Could you go back to the school now and take a look?"

I really thank you for thinking of me so much. Klein tried to keep his expression from changing, touching his chin with his fingers and nodding slightly, but his mind was as blank as mush.

To be honest, Philip is really giving him a headache right now. Helping him collect Rosell's diary and then asking him how he got home is something Klein would absolutely refuse to do unless he's out of his mind.

But there was no reason not to refuse.

Klein stroked his chin, his mind racing, before he frowned and carefully said:

"I don't think we need to rush. You know we know nothing about the issues right now, we don't have the capacity to accept the answers and take action. Let's take it slow for now."

"Hmm?" Philip blinked his sapphire blue eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You say you're not in a hurry, but deep down you're actually quite anxious. I never said I'd just ask Him once I'd collected enough diaries."

"There are many things that need to be considered carefully."

He leaned back on the sofa, looked up at the ceiling, and said in a controlled voice, "Now we need to improve our sequence first. Low and medium sequences are definitely not enough. We need to reach at least a high sequence, the level of half-human, half-god."

"In this case, the diary of Emperor Rosell and that being are things we can rely on, and the role-playing method can prove this."

Klein breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, but his expression immediately faltered as he realized the difficulty had already reached the next stage:

Philip speaks Chinese!

If he were to come across any more diaries containing words I used as payment, Klein dared not think any further. He silently warned himself and said:

"Yes, I'll try to find the diary."

Philip, I'm sorry, even if it really exists, I can only try to fool you with the scandalous history of Emperor Rosell for now. After all, "The Fool" can't be exposed yet, that would be equivalent to social death.

At a Tarot reading, "The Fool" will look after you.

"Speaking of which, regarding your promotion, Mr. Philip, I have something I'd like to ask you."

"Hmm, what is it?"

Seeing Philip's questioning look, Klein hesitated for a few seconds before finally saying, "Could I borrow 5 pounds to join the fortune tellers' club?"

The next morning.

Philip watched Admitso leave the house, picked up the black wig that Klein had bought for him the night before from his pillow, put it on, and carefully adjusted it in front of the mirror in the bathroom before composing himself and heading to Blackthorn Security Company.

As I pushed open the door, I heard Rosanne's complaining voice in my ear:

"Hey~ I was on duty at the armory again yesterday, Lawrence. When are you going to be... Oh, wait, why has your hair changed color?"

"Shh~" Philip shushed him.

He glanced around, pulled his hat brim down, and then said softly, "For some special reason, Captain Dunn definitely knows why, but don't ask. In fact, I wish the color of your eyes could change too."

Unfortunately, there are no colored contact lenses in this world.

"Okay." Upon hearing this, Rosanne stopped complaining, readjusted herself, and sat down at the reception desk to rest with her eyes closed.

Seeing this, Philip sighed. Thinking about the workload of two people that he had to handle alone in the office, which was originally very easy, he resisted the urge to make himself coffee and prepared to get to work.

As for Rosanne, she should go and rest.

After entering the inner room and reaching the corridor, Philip opened the door to the civilian staff office, ready to begin his work for the day. However, at that moment, he also heard the sound of a door opening on his left.

Leonard, whom he hadn't seen for several days due to special circumstances, leaned against the doorframe, his emerald green eyes slightly narrowed, looking him over with a half-smile. "Lawrence, good morning, your new hair color is very nice."

"Really? I think so too," Philip replied, touching the ends of his wig.

After he finished speaking, he looked at the other person quietly.

A few seconds later, Leonard coughed twice, turned his head slightly to the side, and said in a gentle tone, "If you encounter any problems, you can ask us for help. After all, you are one of us here now."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Ok?

"What could possibly be wrong with me?" Although Philip felt strange, he didn't reject the other party's kindness. He smiled and nodded in response before going directly into the office.

Watching the office door close, Leonard expressionlessly re-entered the recreation room, sat alone on the sofa, and muttered to himself, "Old man, what exactly does 'stay away from him' mean?"

His eyes were filled with doubt. Without waiting for a response from his mind, he continued, "There's no doubt he's just a Sequence Nine cultivator, and his current behavior doesn't show any signs of ulterior motives. Why would he let you make this request?"

The room fell silent for a long time.

There was no response.

"Absolutely no clues."

Outside the Dragon Bar, "Werewolf" Tyr, facing the icy gazes of the two people opposite him, gritted his teeth and spoke bluntly: "There are so few Extraordinary individuals here that we can't even form a channel for commissioning them! Damn it! We don't even know what they look like!"

The two ignored his complaints.

"The Mother Tree is acting very strangely; she has never made such an excessive request before." Jason turned his head to look at Steve from the side of his black cloak hood, waiting for him to make a decision.

The leader of the three-man team remained silent, casting his gaze upon the dirty and noisy dock, and letting out a slightly heavy groan.

After a long while, he took out his pocket watch and stared at the rhythmic trembling of the second hand.

In the ensuing silence, Tyr, unable to bear it any longer, scratched his stiff hair and suggested with a mixture of ferocity and excitement, "How about we kill all the Extraordinary Ones here?"

"Idiot," Jason said coldly.

"He is in Tingen, but that doesn't mean he can only be in Tingen."
