Chapter 39: Not hard work, just a miserable life

boom--!

The door to Blackthorn Security Company was pushed open.

Inside the reception hall, Rosanne, who was enjoying tea or coffee, suddenly trembled, causing the liquid in her cup to slosh around and almost spill over.

However, she ignored that for the moment and looked at Klein, who looked flustered, and quickly asked, "Klein, what's wrong? Where's the captain?"

"Something's happened." Klein lowered his hat brim, explained briefly, and then went into the inner room. He then turned to Rosanne, who was following behind him, and asked, "Rosanne, are Ms. Sega and Lawrence here?"

Rosanne nodded. "Yes."

"I'm going to find Leonard; bring them along too."

Klein didn't stop, but strode into the innermost room on the left and continued down the spiral staircase. The sound of his footsteps on the steps was much more hurried than usual, and he almost missed a step on the last few steps.

However, none of this mattered at the moment. Crossing the intersection and walking straight ahead, what should have been a journey of only a few dozen seconds now seemed exceptionally long, causing his fear of the unexpected to grow like a disease.

So much so that when Klein entered the room next to Charness's door, the expression on his face made Leonard, who had been calm, also lose his faint smile and ask seriously, "What happened?"

Klein took two deep breaths, sorted out his memories, and organized his thoughts before saying, "We encountered two people in the underground trading market. The divination results indicate that they are extremely dangerous, and they are likely two Sequence 7 Beyonders."

"Sequence 7," Leonard frowned, his fingers tightening involuntarily as he gripped the chair. "What did the captain say?"

"The captain is tracking those two people there, while I'm taking Miss Sega and Lawrence, along with Seal 2-105, to find his location using my pipe and go provide support."

"2-105 invoked the emergency clause?" Leonard's expression was somewhat complicated, but he explained as calmly as possible, "Klein, my clearance is insufficient; I don't yet know any information about that level two sealed artifact."

Holy crap, that's right!

Klein's eyes widened instantly as he recalled the information Dunn had given about the sealed artifact. A level-two sealed artifact was undoubtedly something only a Night Watch squad leader could know about, but Dunn hadn't mentioned it at the time.

What is he thinking? Has he forgotten?!

After Leonard finished speaking, Philip and Sigia Teon, the last official member the Night Watch team could currently call upon, also came to the room under Rosanne's guidance.

Sika was a woman in her thirties. Although she had an ordinary appearance, her pure white hair and calm and peaceful temperament still made people admire her.

After listening to Klein's retelling, the "Midnight Poet" also frowned. "Well, it does look like the situation is not optimistic. The captain used 2-105 before, but he didn't tell me about its effects, only the side effects."

"That means you can't be exposed for more than half an hour. It's stealing your life all the time, even with gloves and clothing as barriers. If you're exposed for more than half an hour, the side effects will become more noticeable and start to affect your external body."

Contact should not exceed half an hour; that is, you can take turns to avoid this effect.

Klein finally breathed a sigh of relief. If Captain Dunn had caused his side to hesitate and fall into difficulties because he had forgotten to tell them about the sealed artifact, then he really wouldn't know what to do.

After Klein gave his assurances, and Leonard and Sega checked the pipe and saw nothing amiss with their spiritual vision, the two Midnight Poets went through the Charnis door, leaving the two remaining office workers behind.

In the silence of the room, Klein and a somewhat puzzled Philip looked at each other for several seconds, then Klein pursed his lips, leaned closer, and whispered:

"Lawrence, have you met him?"

He roughly described the appearance of the extraordinary person in the underground trading market, but to his surprise, the other person's pupils shrank upon hearing it, and he froze on the spot.

Werewolf Tyr!

Philip's eyes trembled as if mirroring his own thoughts. He placed his hand on Klein's shoulder, took a few deep breaths to calm himself, and asked, "What are they doing there?"

Philip's eyes had never been so excited before; his fingers were still clenching, and he seemed a little scared. Klein collected his thoughts and thought for a moment before saying, "I've basically never seen any extraordinary materials being sold at street stalls."

He described the appearance of the materials based on his memory.

However, Philip seemed to deflate like a punctured balloon. After sighing, he put on a look of utter despair and said with a wry smile, "I think I know the specific reason now. I'll tell you later."

Seeing the other person's listless appearance, Klein didn't know what to say to comfort him. He patted Philip on the shoulder and asked as if to confirm, "Are they members of the Rose School?"

Philip didn't speak, he just nodded.

He finally understood.

It's not that I'm suffering, it's that my life is miserable.

The Rose School went to great lengths to come to Ahurwa County, most likely for him. The reason is not hard to guess: either they discovered the secret of his resurrection, or they discovered his shadow world.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

The latter is more likely. After all, if he were just a resurrected member of the Temperance faction, there would be no need for such a fuss. At worst, he could send the werewolf Tyr to track him down, capture him, study him, and then kill him.

The room remained silent for two minutes until Leonard pushed open the door and re-entered the room. At the doorway, Siga held a thick, stiff blood vessel in his hand.

Leonard sat down in a chair, glanced at the three people in front of him, and then sighed, "Everyone, be careful on the road. Come back soon, and be safe and sound."

Sika nodded slightly, and at the same time stuffed the vein on his hand into his pocket.

Klein pursed his lips, his gaze shifting to the blood vessel. The thought struck him as incredibly unreliable. "With this thing, plus the Midnight Poet, the Prisoner, and me, a fortune teller who's practically incapable of direct combat, can we really win?"

He tried his best to avoid letting such negative emotions grow in his heart, but after turning his head to look at Philip, whose expression had become peaceful, he couldn't help but admire the other's inner strength.

After leaving Blackthorn Security Company, Klein comforted Rosanne for a few words, and then the group went straight to the four-wheeled carriage that was waiting nearby.

This is a horse-drawn carriage belonging to Blackthorn Security Company.

The driver was Caesar Francis, an office worker who had just returned from purchasing supplies. He was usually only responsible for applying for and purchasing supplies, but in critical moments, he could also take on the responsibility of a driver.

After Klein sat down, ignoring the jolting of the carriage, he placed his cane on his pipe, adjusted it a few times to make it stand upright, and then entered a semi-meditative state to begin divining the location of Captain Dunn Smith.
