Douluo Dragon King: My Strategy System Is a Bit Off

Chapter 31 Human-Faced Demon Spider

Sure enough, not long after, rustling sounds came from all around, as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness.

Lin Ci's eyes flickered slightly as she slowly stood up and casually placed the roasted meat aside.

This time, without Lin Ci's reminder, Zhang Yangzi, who had been observing from above the sky with his soul, discovered the problem.

"Windblade Wolves, due west, not many in number!"

As soon as Zhang Yangzi finished speaking, a group of dark figures emerged from all directions—a pack of Wind Blade Wolves. These Wind Blade Wolves were agile and extremely fast, their bodies surrounded by faint wind elements, leaving shallow trails on the ground with each stride.

It was only after the pack of windblade wolves crashed into their field of vision that they realized something was wrong.

Most Wind Blade Wolves are ten-year-old soul beasts and belong to the social type of soul beasts. Encountering a large group of Wind Blade Wolves in the Spirit Ascension Platform is a very troublesome thing.

But now, these Windblade Wolves are few in number and look extremely disheveled, several of them bearing numerous wounds. They seem less like they've come to attack and more like they've come to escape.

The students in Class Zero had been training at the Spirit Ascension Platform for a semester, and compared to before, they had already gained a wealth of experience. They naturally noticed this situation, but they didn't know what kind of spirit beast was chasing them.

"Let's quickly deal with this group of Windblade Wolves." Tang Wulin was the first to act. He had been itching to fight after seeing Lin Ci kill the Crimson Flame Tiger.

He was now itching to get his hands on the two thousand-forged silver hammers.

Tang Wulin slammed his feet off the ground, charging towards the pack of Wind Blade Wolves like a cannonball. The Thousand-Refined Heavy Silver Hammer in his hand gleamed with a cold metallic luster, creating whistling winds as he swung it.

One by one, the Ten-Year Windblade Wolves were brutally killed by him.

Xie Xie and Wang Jinxi quickly joined the battle, focusing their efforts on quickly eliminating the group of Wind Blade Wolves.

Lin Ci didn't move, but just stared calmly in the direction the Wind Blade Wolf had fled from, as if he was waiting for something.

Zhang Yangzi and Gu Yue were in the same situation; they had to ensure that Tang Wulin and his companions wouldn't be ambushed by other soul beasts.

Not long after, Wang Jinxi, who was in the middle of the battle, suddenly felt a moment of disorientation. For some reason, a strange sense of fear lingered in his heart.

The next moment, what came towards him was a massive net!

Wang Jinxi's pupils shrank as he watched the large net rushing towards him. He tried to dodge but found his body frozen in place, unable to move.

At this critical moment, Xie Xie caught a glimpse of Wang Jinxi's danger out of the corner of his eye. Without thinking, he instantly released the Light Dragon Dagger from his hand, which transformed into a streak of light and shot towards the large net.

"Clang!" The Light Dragon Dagger pierced the net, sparking a string of sparks, but it only slightly slowed the net's forward momentum.

Immediately afterward, the net continued to envelop Wang Jinxi. At this moment, Tang Wulin, who was not far away, also noticed the change in the situation. He suddenly hurled the Thousand-Refined Silver Hammer in his hand towards the net. With a loud bang, the Thousand-Refined Silver Hammer slammed into the net like a cannonball, finally creating a gap in it.

At that moment, the culprit who had ambushed them finally revealed his true identity. When Wang Jinxi saw the appearance of the soul beast, his body trembled involuntarily.

Its body is black and white with distinctive markings. Resembling a millstone, its massive form boasts legs exceeding two meters in length, and its entire body radiates an eerie glow. As it descends, a beautiful human face is clearly visible on its lower abdomen, adding to its terrifying presence.

"Human-faced Demon Spider!"

Before him stood the very same human-faced spider that had once nearly caused Wang Jinxi irreparable psychological trauma. And now, it was it that had launched the sneak attack once more.

Wang Jinxi could even sense that this was the same one that had attacked him before.

"What should we do? Should we retreat first?" Xie Xie noticed that something was wrong with Wang Jinxi and quickly came to his side.

No wonder these Wind Blade Wolves were in such a sorry state. Even though the Human-Faced Demon Spider's cultivation was only a hundred years, its strength was still enough to hunt down thousand-year-old soul beasts. Moreover, this was the Spirit Ascension Platform; killing it would at most yield spiritual power at the hundred-year-old soul beast level, which was hardly worth it. Besides, their primary goal right now was to pass their final exams.

But before Xie Xie could answer, a figure rushed out before all of them. In just a few seconds, Lin Ci had already arrived in front of the human-faced demon spider.

Lin Ci's eyes flashed like lightning as he stared intently at the Man-Faced Demon Spider. A longsword, radiating a chilling light, had appeared in his hand without his noticing. Without hesitation, he flicked his wrist, the sword twirling several times before thrusting it straight at the Man-Faced Demon Spider's leg joint.

There is no doubt that the weakness of these spider-like creatures lies in their legs. While their numerous long legs help them move nimbly, they are also their fatal weakness, making them extremely vulnerable.

The human-faced spider clearly hadn't expected the seemingly weak human before it to be so bold as to attack first. Its millstone-like body twisted slightly, and one of its long legs, like a giant spiked club, swept towards Lin Ci with a whistling sound.

Lin Ci's figure flashed like a ghost, easily dodging the fierce attack. At the same time, the long sword in his hand slashed a deep gash on the human-faced spider's leg, and dark green blood instantly flowed out.

"Hiss!" The human-faced spider hissed angrily, its beautiful human face on its lower abdomen twisted into a hideous grimace, as if venting endless rage. Its abdomen trembled rapidly, and countless spider silks shot towards Lin Ci like a dense rain of arrows.

Lin Ci remained expressionless, his longsword flashing rapidly, forming a sword curtain that blocked the incoming spider silk. However, there were simply too many spider silks, and a few still managed to break through the sword curtain, grazing his arm and leaving shallow bloodstains.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

At this moment, Gu Yue's eyes turned cold, and with a wave of her hand, several fireballs shot out rapidly.

At this moment, the Hundred-Year-Old Human-Faced Demon Spider also displayed extremely powerful combat strength. Facing Gu Yue's continuous fireball attacks, it simply raised its two forelimbs, moving swiftly through the air with blurry light and shadow. Every fireball that touched its forelimbs would instantly disintegrate, leaving only sparks scattered.

The human-faced spider suddenly retreated, increasing the distance between itself and Lin Ci. It spat out several large webs to intercept Lin Ci, who was trying to approach. Then, it quickly and slowly crawled sideways around them, a yellowish-green spider silk trailing behind its tail. Wherever the spider silk passed, all the plants withered rapidly.

Soon, using the surrounding trees as support, a circle of spider silk was formed. This yellowish-green spider silk caused the trees to begin to wither, but the trunks could still hold on for the time being.

"This beast wants to trap us all in here!" Xie Xie's eyes flickered as he realized the human-faced spider's motive.

The human-faced spider was treating them all as prey, trapping them first and then launching an attack when they were off guard.

Gu Yue directly bombarded the spider silk with various elements, but the effect was not good. The poison became a protective layer for the spider silk, and even the burning flames could not achieve a good enough effect.

Lin Ci didn't look around; he simply sheathed his sword and stood still, his third soul skill, Light Domain Perception, fully activated in his mind.

The area enclosed by the human-faced spider was perfectly covered by his light domain perception. Therefore, he could detect all of the human-faced spider's movements instantly.

Under such circumstances, it would be impossible for the human-faced spider to successfully launch a sneak attack.
