Chapter 4 How much...how much?!

The bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class.

No sooner had Ji Zhongyouji left the classroom than several people surrounded Shi Xu.

The first to greet him was a girl sitting in front of Kakashi: "Hello, my name is Nohara Rin, and my dream is to become a female ninja like Tsunade-sama."

"I am Uzumaki Tokio. Do you want to learn medical ninjutsu?"

Nohara Rin nodded: "Yes, I want to save my injured comrades."

She is a very gentle person.

So Shi Xu sincerely wished him well: "Keep going, I believe you can succeed."

Immediately afterward, the boy wearing goggles next to Rin Nohara said, "I am Obito Uchiha, the man who will become Hokage!"

Uchiha, Toki had just flipped through the history book; this was the clan that founded Konoha with the Senju.

Toki extended his right hand: "Hello, Obito, it's nice to meet you."

Obito was stunned for a moment, seemingly not quite understanding, until Kakashi couldn't stand it anymore and reminded him.

"Idiot, that's a handshake."

"Who are you calling an idiot! Of course I know! It's just that I don't use this kind of etiquette often, so I didn't realize it!" Obito's reaction was quite intense, as if he really hated being called an idiot.

Immediately afterwards, Obito stretched out both hands and looked at them. After hesitating for about a second, he finally extended his right hand.

Kakashi noticed his pause and couldn't help but sigh, "He really is an idiot."

Just then, a boy in a green bodysuit put his arm around Kakashi's shoulder: "Hey! My rival! How about a race this afternoon? Whoever finishes fifty laps around the track first wins!"

"Ahem!"

Shi Xu choked while drinking water and bluntly asked, "How long is one lap around the school playground?"

Matt Kai grinned, revealing a set of healthy, white teeth: "It's 820 meters. I measured it with my own two feet; there's no mistake!"

"Fifty laps... hiss~" Shi Xu couldn't help but gasp, and quickly asked, "Is this how ninjas train?"

Kakashi glanced at him and explained, "Don't get me wrong, only Guy is like that."

"Kai?" Shi Xu looked at the boy in the green bodysuit.

Sensing Shi Xu's gaze, he swung his arm in a wide arc, finally giving himself a thumbs-up: "Might Guy! From now on, you will become the strongest man!"

"Awesome!" Shi Xu clapped his hands.

Everyone has goals and dreams, but what's remarkable is taking concrete action to achieve them. If you can keep going, you might actually succeed.

While hardship doesn't always guarantee happiness, for those willing to put in the effort, empty promises can be an effective motivator.

However... such incentives seem a bit excessive.

Might Guy's tears flowed instantly. He placed his hands on Shi Xu's shoulders and held him tightly with a slight pull.

"You're the second person to believe I'll succeed. I declare you my best friend from today onwards. Um... what's your name again?"

Feeling the immense force on his shoulder, Tokio's expression changed slightly: "Uzumaki Tokio, also... could you let go of my hand? I can't take it anymore."

"I'm so sorry!" Might Guy immediately let go of her hand, stood up straight, and bowed deeply in apology, almost bending at a ninety-degree angle.

This is a more common form of etiquette among ninjas than a handshake.

Shi Xu quickly waved his hand: "Uh, it's okay, it's just that I'm too weak, it has nothing to do with you."

Nohara Rin immediately comforted him, "No one would directly admit to being weak, Tokio, you need to be more confident."

Seeing Rin so gently comforting the others, Obito felt a little jealous and slammed his hand on the table.

"It's alright, from now on I'll protect you. I'm a genius who refined chakra in just three days!"

"If only you, a complete loser, had even half the humility of Toki," Kakashi bluntly exposed him.

In fact, Obito, being a member of the Uchiha clan, was not stupid; he just had very poor theoretical grades, which dragged his overall ranking to the bottom.

"Heh, I won't argue with you." Obito's voice gradually weakened. He knew that Kakashi had only spent a day, and he couldn't win the argument.

Lin, how can I compare to her?

Kai... never mind, it's beneath me to compare myself to him.

Hey, I've got it!

Obito coughed lightly and asked, "Um... Toki, have you refined your chakra yet?"

Shi Xu was organizing the textbook's table of contents and arranging the reading order when he heard someone call him. He looked up and answered.

"have."

"How long did it take you to refine your chakra for the first time?" Obito then asked.

Shi Xu recalled what happened last night: "Just a few seconds."

"Yeah, I knew it. Don't be discouraged... Wait!" Obito suddenly opened his eyes, his hands bracing against the table as if two copper bells were stuck in his eye sockets and about to fall out.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"How much...how much?!"

"A few seconds."

Shi Xu spoke calmly, as if he were talking about what he ate last night, completely unaware of the shock his words had caused to others.

Kakashi took a deep breath, calmed himself, and asked, "Is this your first time refining chakra?"

Shi Xu nodded: "Last night at dinner, my teacher taught me how to refine chakra, and I succeeded after just one try."

Kakashi remembered that the Hokage had been mentioned during their previous conversation. Now that he thought about it, Toki must have been having dinner with the Hokage last night, so his teacher must also be a very famous ninja.

"Teacher? Who is your teacher?"

Shi Xu closed her textbook, her expression serious: "My teacher is Tsunade. I was brought back from the battlefield of the Land of Rain by her."

Nohara Rin clasped her hands together in front of her, then bowed slightly: "Land of Rain... I'm very sorry, I thought you were from the Land of Whirlpools because your surname is Whirlpool."

Upon hearing this, Toki was immediately puzzled: "The Land of Whirlpools has already been destroyed. Didn't you know that before this war began?"

"ah?!"

Everyone around was quite surprised, including the usually calm Kakashi.

Seeing their reactions, Shi Xu instantly understood.

Tsunade had previously stated that the Land of Whirlpools was an ally of Konoha, but Konoha only received the belated news after the Land of Whirlpools was destroyed.

It now appears that the Konoha leadership concealed the news of their ally's destruction from the ordinary villagers in an effort to minimize the impact of the war. They will likely only release the information after the war ends.

So Shi Xu immediately added, "Don't tell anyone about this. Just keep it to yourselves."

The group hadn't yet recovered from the news they'd just heard, and when they heard Shi Xu's instructions, they simply nodded mechanically.

Just then, the school bell rang, and the group returned to their seats.

Before sitting down, Nohara Rin glanced back at Toki, whose expression was very calm and whose attention was focused on the book in his hands.

"Even though it's about the destruction of their hometown, it sounds so bland, like it's about something unrelated. Tokio... he must have already cried all his tears."

"Oh dear, how foolish of me. If I hadn't mentioned the Land of Whirlpools..."

Thinking of this, Nohara Rin suddenly felt her cheeks burning, and couldn't help but cover her cheeks with her hands and bury her head.
