Chapter 152 On-set Accident

Chapter 152 On-Set Accident (Part 2)

The second female lead's face was injured, and the set needed to be cleaned up again.

The director had no choice but to pause filming and send Amanda Pete back to the dressing room to direct the cleanup of the set while considering what to do next.

"If all else fails, we'll have to shoot something else first," said an assistant director.

The coordinator exclaimed, "This is impossible! Everything was arranged perfectly, and now it's all being disrupted. I can't assign tasks!"

"This is the only way now!" the photographer exclaimed. "Or we can revise the script."

Nancy Myers, the screenwriter herself, was also furious. She yelled, "Don't blame everything on the screenwriter!"

Director Nancy Meyers is having a headache.

For a director, in addition to knowing how to make movies, knowing how to handle various accidents on set is also a required course, and Nancy Meyers clearly lacks experience in this area.

In that instant, she steeled herself and shouted, "I can't wait that long to cover it up with powder!"

The makeup artist's expression changed: "That could cause the wound to become infected."

Nancy Myers yelled, "At least she won't die, right?"

In the dressing room, Amanda was terrified as she listened to the director's shouts.

That damn Nancy Myers, she actually tried to cover up the injury on my face with foundation.

She completely disregarded my health.

If the wound gets infected, my face will be truly ruined.

But what can I do?

I'm not famous yet!

Going against the director ruined my future.

Just then, a melodious male voice suddenly rang out behind Amanda: "You look like you're in trouble."

Amanda turned around in surprise, and the familiar face of the man before her astonished her: "Ian Carl?"

"Shh!" Ian stood behind her, peering out and smiling. "Your director doesn't seem to care about your health at all. If we were to get a feminist organization... well, she's a female director too, it would be more appropriate for a human rights organization and the Screen Actors Guild to step in."

Amanda was taken aback.

Although it was her first time meeting Ian, she knew all too well what kind of person he was.

God!

How did he get in?

He actually found out about this!

If this gets out, it will cause a huge uproar.

Amanda quickly said, "Don't tell anyone, Ian, you'll ruin me!"

She grabbed Ian's arm and looked at her pitifully.

Ian looked away and turned to Amanda: "You don't want me to help you?"

Amanda was helpless.

I certainly hope so, but not in this way.

Ian understood her look.

He smiled and said, "Don't worry, the movie will continue filming, and you don't have to risk being disfigured... as long as you cooperate a little."

"How do we cooperate?" Amanda blurted out.

Ian smiled and casually took out an exquisite windproof lighter and tossed it out.

The lighter landed on a piece of curtain and burst into flames.

"Oh my God!" Amanda exclaimed.

Ian put his arm around Amanda's shoulder: "Go ahead and call me, but don't say my name."

He then pushed her towards the door.

Amanda screamed hysterically, "Fire!"

The atmosphere on set instantly became excited, and everyone rushed to the dressing room at the same time.

Seeing the flames, Nancy Myers went berserk, ordering everyone to put out the fire quickly. She yelled at Amanda, "How did it get on fire?"

For a fleeting moment, Amanda almost blurted out Ian's name.

But the image of Ian flashed through my mind, his confident smile, and Nancy Myers's despicable face, disregarding his own safety.

She gently shook her head: "I don't know."

As she spoke, she turned around and looked back, only to find that Ian Karl had already disappeared.

Like a ghost!

The crew members were bringing fire extinguishers and spraying white foam onto the set.

Fortunately, the fire was not very large, and it did not affect any critical locations.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but just then, a cameraman on set shouted, "Memory card! Oh my god!"

Nancy Myers rushed over: "What happened now?"

The photographer, his face ashen, cried out, "I lost a memory card!"

Nancy Meyers' vision went black.

Losing the memory card meant that many of the shots they had taken were gone.

Although it was only one photo, it was still a huge loss.

"Hurry up and find it!" she screamed hysterically.

She is the screenwriter, director, and producer of this film; in other words, all the power is in her hands, and all the responsibility rests on her shoulders.

No push!

Only Amanda understood.

It's Ian Karl!

She just didn't understand why he did that.

The series of accidents means that filming tonight will definitely not be possible.

Nancy Meyers had no choice but to order everyone to go back and rest, leaving only a few people to continue searching for the memory card.

Amanda, fearing that Nancy Meyers might continue filming, left the studio early and went to her car.

Once inside the car, Amanda looked around but didn't see Ian, feeling a strange sense of loss.

As Amanda started the car, she saw someone slowly sit up in the back seat.

"Ian Karl?" Amanda asked in surprise.

Ian smiled at her and said, "I hope you won't mind if I hitch a ride."

Amanda stared at him blankly for a while, then said, "You'd better lie down so the guards don't see you."

As she spoke, she started the car and drove away.

The car quickly drove out of Columbia Pictures and headed towards the nearby film crew hotel.

Ian sat up again and fiddled with the equipment in his hands.

Amanda looked at him through the rearview mirror and said, "I don't understand why you did this?"

Ian casually replied, "Sony offended me. They lost a bet but don't want to honor it, so I have to teach them a lesson. Columbia is a subsidiary of Sony, so taking down Columbia is taking down Sony."

Amanda said sadly, "So you're going to make this movie a failure?"

"No, there's no need for that. That would ruin a lot of innocent jobs," Ian laughed. "All I need is news, good news."

The latest novel is first published here!

As he spoke, Ian took out the memory card and handed it to Amanda: "This is for you. Without this, they have to rearrange things and won't be able to turn it on for the time being. By tomorrow, your wound will be almost scabbed over, and applying powder won't be a problem then. Your safety will be guaranteed."

Amanda asked in bewilderment, "How did you manage to do all this right under the photographer's nose?"

Ian replied, "That's not important. What's important is that good news, to create a big story, has to start with humanity... What's truly valuable about this is that Nancy Meyers completely disregarded the actors' health, risking disfigurement by continuing filming. That's what makes it compelling! Of course, adding the fire and the lost memory card on top of that makes it even more of a story. Twists and turns are always better than one, right? If you could stand up and accuse Nancy, it would be even more effective."

Amanda was shocked.

You actually want me to make the accusation myself?

Just for the sake of amplifying your news?

At that moment, Amanda truly understood why Ian Carr always had a constant stream of hit products.

He personally took charge and wrote the script himself!

He'll create news even when there isn't any, and he'll rewrite ordinary news!

He even considered dragging himself down with him!

madman!

What a madman!

Amanda's expression changed, and she shook her head: "No! Ian Karl, I won't do that."

An actress standing up to accuse a director is no small matter. It can easily make all directors dissatisfied with such an actress, and then her career will be completely ruined.

Ian chuckled: "You don't need to worry about that. With me protecting you, no one can target you."

The Ian Carr of today is not the Ian Carr of the Charlie Mills era.

He could convince Kate back then, so why not now?

Amanda understood: "You want me to be your knife? No! I still won't accept it."

Ian wasn't in a hurry; he simply gazed leisurely ahead and asked, "Do you have to go back to the film crew's hotel?"

"What's wrong?"

"Perhaps we can find a place to have a proper talk. I guarantee you won't be able to start work tomorrow... I'll offer you a price you can't refuse!"

Amanda pondered.

After a long pause, she finally said, "I know a place where we can have a drink."

"I have a better place," Ian laughed.

Amanda gently shook her head: "No, Ian, I won't go to your room."

………………

Ten minutes later.

Amanda sat in the news van, silently watching the monitor.

There were all sorts of people inside, all actors from the film crew. One of the rooms had no security cameras... that was my own room.

Ian Karl!

Are you the devil?

You actually installed surveillance cameras in everyone's room in the entire crew.

What left her speechless was that she saw Jack Nicholson and Nancy Meyers rolling around in bed together.

God!

It's common for the lead actor and director to be together, but...

She looked at Ian, and Ian was smiling back at her.

He said, "The last person I watched live with in the news van was Kate Beckinsale, and she couldn't resist and ended up in my bed. I hope you have better self-control than her."

What do you hope for?

Amanda rolled her eyes: "This doesn't require willpower."

Ian chuckled. "Even if I weren't in the car, you'd still call your best friend to vent after you got back to your room, right? Nobody can face this situation without getting angry. People always need an outlet after a major event! You didn't do it on purpose; it was just private anger. You're also an innocent victim, and this will alleviate the pressure you're facing. I'll also reward you. A film role or money, either way. After that, you'll find the lost memory card, which will be a huge contribution to the production. That way, no one can blame you anymore."

Amanda was shocked again and fell silent.

So he had prepared everything perfectly, and so thoroughly?

She knew Ian was right.

Normally, she would call her best friend to complain about this when she got back to the hotel, and he could have easily obtained all the evidence by simply eavesdropping... In that case, Amanda's complaints were unintentionally eavesdropped on, and it didn't mean she was deliberately trying to sabotage the director.

Her mistake will be lessened considerably, and everyone will be able to understand Amanda's complaints.

Amanda truly admired this man.

He can always do things that others can't!

She looked at Ian: "Then why did you need my permission?"

Ian smiled: "You're a beauty, Amanda. I don't like to hurt beauties; beauties are meant to be cherished."

How could Amanda not understand what that meant?

She rolled her eyes and sneered, "It's more accurate to say you like killing two birds with one stone."

You made the news, dealt a blow to Sony, and incidentally won the heart of a beautiful woman.

Ian nodded slightly: "Good businessmen always pursue high-value-for-money behaviors."

As he spoke, he lifted Amanda's chin: "I'm used to killing multiple birds with one stone... Time is so precious, and opportunities are so rare. The protector of flowers has the right to savor their fragrance, doesn't he?"

Amanda bit her lip as she looked at him, a wave of moisture washing over her body and soul in that instant.
