Chapter 41 Hotel Encounter

Chapter 41 Hotel Encounter

After driving for several hours, we finally arrived at the outskirts of Auckland.

It was already late when the old man, Gaskell, said, "I've arranged to meet my friend tomorrow. What about you?"

Ian replied, "I'm not in a hurry. I plan to just wander around the city."

Ian planned to learn about the situation of the Auckland company through the old man, so he wasn't in a hurry to leave.

The old man said, "In that case, why don't we find a hotel together? It's good to have a friend on the road, and we can chat."

After learning Ian Karl's identity, the old man gradually lowered his guard against him.

"No problem," Ian readily agreed.

Because the Auckland paint company was located in the suburbs, they didn't go into the city center but instead found a nearby motel to stay in.

After checking in at the motel, Ian went to his room and took a shower.

After changing my clothes, I felt even more refreshed.

He walked out of the room and into the courtyard.

Gaskell and Lena were chatting and drinking on lounge chairs in the garden when they saw him come out. Lena's eyes lit up and she laughed, "Wow, you look much more handsome after your bath."

"Everyone looks better after a shower," Ian said with a smile as he approached. "Want a drink?"

The old man looked at him: "Do you have any wine?"

Ian grinned and took a bottle of wine out of his bag: "I got this from the counter, it's from Manfei Winery."

"Haha, I like this." The old man accepted it without hesitation.

Ian then sat down on the deck chair next to them.

The three of them took advantage of the moonlight to drink and chat.

Perhaps because they were already quite familiar with each other, Gaskell casually remarked, "By the way, Carl, why are you carrying a gun when you're out doing interviews?"

"It's just better to be safe than sorry," Ian replied. "Our line of work tends to offend a lot of people."

Gaskell gave him a meaningful look: "That's true. Actually, I also have a gun in my car, but most of the time I don't use it, or even want to touch it. Owning it and using it freely are two different things, right?"

Ian nodded: "You are a respectable elder, successful in your career, you don't need to rely on that thing... all you need are a few bodyguards."

Gaskell laughed too: "I should have brought bodyguards. Then, when you fired into the air, two gunmen appeared from behind my car and shot you dead."

Ian laughed and nodded, "That's the normal pace of things."

The three of them drank and chatted until night fell, at which point they went back to their rooms to rest.

Staying in his room, Ian sat on the sofa looking at his laptop, while habitually activating his X-ray vision. He wasn't planning to get any information; he was just scanning out of habit, since it wouldn't take long and wouldn't consume much power.

I glanced at the news and occasionally looked up at my surroundings.

Next door was Gasker's room, where someone was taking a shower. Her glistening body shimmered with water; it was Lena.

She has a fantastic figure!

Ian gasped, then quickly brushed the sensation away.

He didn't like to simply admire, as that would only make him more upset. Besides, the old man was a decent person, and there was no need for him to disrespect his wife like that, so he turned his head to look elsewhere.

Then he suddenly sat up.

Ian took out the Beretta pistol and went to the door.

He cautiously opened the door and glanced outside. Through the gap at the corner, he could vaguely see a gunman with his face covered by a red scarf pointing a gun at the waiter's head, demanding that he hand over all the keys.

Ian chuckled. "I like this."

After thinking for a moment, Ian took the camera out of the house, then quietly went to Gaskell's door and knocked a few times.

Gaskell came to open the door and was taken aback to see Ian.

Before he could say anything, Ian pushed past him and shushed Gaskell with a finger raised with his left hand.

However, he was still holding a gun in his left hand, using the muzzle instead of his finger, which left the old man completely bewildered.

Just then, Lena finished showering and came out wrapped in a bathrobe. She was clearly stunned when she saw Ian, especially since Ian had a camera slung over his right shoulder.

"Ian Karl, what are you doing?" Lena exclaimed, clutching her chest.

Ian quickly said, "Don't shout! There are four thugs who have broken in."

What?

The elderly couple were stunned.

Motels are located in the suburbs, making them more vulnerable to robbery.

Lena was horrified: "We shouldn't have gone to the nearest hotel; we should have gone straight to the five-star hotel in the city."

Ian said, "It's too late to say that now; those guys are searching us one by one."

"what!"

As if in response to Ian's statement, a gasp came from the next room, then the sound stopped abruptly.

While others were unaware of what was happening, Lena and Gaskell realized that the bandits had begun robbing houses one by one.

"Oh my god, what should we do? Will they kill us?" Lena asked in alarm.

Ian looked at her and said, "They might not kill you, but they're very likely to rob you of your money and then sexually assault you, Mrs. Bent. You're dressed a little scantily."

The latest novel is first published here!

Lena, wrapped only in a bath towel, covered her mouth in horror: "What do we do now?"

She tried to escape through the window, but found it was locked.

Ian handed the camera to Gaskell: "Do you know how to use it?"

Gaskell was astonished: "It can fire bullets?"

"No, it's for filming." Ian pointed his gun and said, "I'll kill them, and you'll be responsible for recording it."

Gaskell shook his head frantically: "No, no, I can't do this! This is insane!"

Ian chuckled: "Trust me, open the lens cap, point it at me, I'll adjust the focus and aperture for you, you don't need to do anything, just point it at me. If you want, you can also point it at those thugs in front."

The old man just stood there blankly, carrying the camera and watching Ian.

Ian smiled and asked, "How are you feeling?"

The old man replied blankly, "A bit heavy."

Ian laughed heartily.

Just then, footsteps came from the doorway, and the sounds of a search could be heard from next door.

Ian gestured for Lena to hide in the bedroom, then had Gaskell stand with him, saying, "Don't stand in the hallway, or you'll get shot."

"So how should I film it?"

"Shoot at an angle...look at the camera, you'll find the right angle."

Gaskell was speechless: "You're very confident?"

Ian smiled slightly: "Of course."

As he spoke, he suddenly raised his gun and fired a shot outside.

boom!

Gunshots.

A scream came from outside, and one of the bandits collapsed.

At the same time, gunfire erupted outside, and bullets pierced through the door, leaving large holes in it.

Ian pulled Gaskell to stand by the passageway, and then gestured for Gaskell to pat himself, and then pat the wall that had been hit by a bullet.

You really have a good mood!

Gaskell shakily shook the camera, filming this scene.

"The camera is too shaky; those vampires will take the opportunity to lower the price," Ian sighed.
