Chapter 42: Follow-up Interviews Required (Part 1)
After a while, the gunfire finally stopped.
Ian used his X-ray vision to see three thugs changing their weapons in the corridor.
He walked straight out of the wall and fired two more shots at the door, instantly knocking down a bandit who was reloading at the door.
The remaining two thugs, terrified, hid behind the wall and shouted, "Damn it, Lyle's dead!"
The continuous gunshots also woke up the guests, most of whom hid under the bed, too afraid to come out.
Some idiots even opened the door to watch the commotion, and one of the thugs pointed at the guest and shouted, "Go back inside!"
The guest quickly shrank back.
Just then, another gunshot rang out, and another bandit was shot in the shoulder. He rolled on the ground shouting, "I've been shot!"
"Fuck!" The last thug fired wildly at the door.
After another burst of bullets, the thug snatched the gun from his partner, kicked the door, and yelled, "Come out, you bastard!"
Ian frowned.
The other side switched guns without reloading, and this time they didn't fire wildly.
Although he was still standing stupidly at the door, Ian didn't dare to rush over—what if he happened to fire a shot?
After thinking for a moment, Ian picked up a vase and threw it outside, which passed right through the dilapidated doorway.
The thug instinctively fired at the vase, but Ian, using his X-ray vision, saw that the thug had changed direction. He rushed out and fired a shot at the thug, hitting him again.
Two of the thugs died, and the remaining two were injured.
The two thugs shouted and turned their guns to fight back, but Ian managed to dodge in time, and bullets flew wildly past his face again.
Gaskell was terrified, but the old man bravely held onto the camera, recording everything. Ian even gave the camera a V-sign.
What a beautiful scene.
Under the holographic light, seeing that these guys had run out of bullets again, Ian rushed out and fired a shot at the fallen bandit, who died without even uttering a sound.
The gun was turned towards the last bandit who had a shoulder injury.
The bandit shouted, "I surrender!"
boom!
He fired his gun.
The bandit was shot between the eyebrows and fell down.
After finishing this task, Ian looked at the four corpses on the ground and, confirming that they were all dead, said, "You can come out now. They're all dead."
Gasker emerged shakily, carrying a camera. Before him lay four corpses, and the corridor was stained with blood.
Gasker swallowed hard. "You shouldn't have killed the fourth one. He surrendered."
Legally speaking, Ian was fine killing the first three, but he shouldn't have fired at the fourth one.
Ian smiled: "I didn't hear you."
Gaskell sighed, "It was all recorded."
"It can be edited," Ian replied.
Gaskell looked at him speechlessly: "Are you really a journalist?"
Ian smiled: "An all-rounder. You know there's a type of reporter called a war correspondent."
Don't limit your own development; there will be wars in the future, and maybe you can join in the fun.
However, this is contingent on one's eyes being able to be further upgraded.
Damn it, what kind of eye technique do I need to survive on the battlefield? Can I decide my upgrade path?
These questions remain unanswered, which Ian finds regrettable.
Gaskell's response was: "..."
At this moment, Lena also mustered up her courage and came out. When she saw the tragic scene in front of her, her vision went black and she went limp.
Gaskell was holding the camera and it was difficult to support her, but luckily Ian grabbed her and helped her up. In the process, he accidentally touched her ample bosom and whispered, "Sorry."
Lena, however, didn't seem to mind and hugged Ian's neck tightly, saying excitedly, "Thank you so much, you saved us, Ian Karl."
Uh, no!
Ian felt his body react instinctively: "It's nothing, go back and change your clothes."
Lena suddenly realized, "Damn it, my bathrobe is about to fall down!" "Oh, God."
She hurriedly ran back to her room to change her clothes.
Ian turned to look at Gaskell and said apologetically, "It wasn't intentional."
Gaskell smiled: "Cut this part out too."
………………
The police arrived twelve minutes later.
By this time, Ian had finished all the photography and video editing, and was writing a script on his laptop.
Ian will probably have already released a statement by the time the police finish their investigation.
This time, Ian didn't choose CBS, but instead gave it to a news website he had previously partnered with.
One unique advantage of internet media is that it can be published directly after review, making it the fastest way to publish news – other media outlets will be involved, so it's essential to be the first to publish.
The latest novel is first published here!
To buy time, Ian even had Gaskell be questioned by the police first. When it was Gaskell's turn, Ian hurriedly wrote the article and pressed send.
It was a bit rushed and the wording wasn't very elegant, but that's okay, let's get it done quickly first.
We'll do a supplementary report later and publish it in tomorrow's lead newspaper. That's called complementing each other!
After finishing this task, Ian left the room and was questioned. His explanation was simply that he saw robbers enter the room to rob it, and because they were armed and there were naked women present, he had no choice but to fire his gun.
After understanding the situation, the police said, "Okay, we know what happened. You have a gun license and were legal to fire a gun. However, I still suggest that you do not leave Auckland for the next two days. We still need to investigate and confirm the follow-up events."
"Understood, officer, I will cooperate," Ian replied with a smile.
Just then, several reporters rushed in from outside.
The body had not yet been removed, and the reporters took a flurry of photos of it on the ground.
The policeman shouted angrily, "Get out of here, you damned rats!"
The paparazzi completely ignored the police's urging. It was a shootout with no special unsolved cases, so the requirements for scene preservation were not high. They were just looking for a violent thrill.
The next moment, Ian took out his laptop, opened a webpage, and showed it to the reporters, saying, "Too late, guys, the news is already out."
What?
The paparazzi, all looking at their computers, saw the eye-catching headlines and videos and cried out in despair, "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Why so fast?"
The key point is that they even have gunfight videos?
Then what are you even doing here?!
Out of basic professional ethics, they took a few more photos and left. As for how much these photos could sell for... don't count on it.
A published news article is less valuable than a piece of expired black bread.
After everything was settled, everyone went back to their rooms to rest, but whether they could actually fall asleep was another matter; some of the more timid ones ran away that very night.
Lena didn't want to stay there either, since nobody liked the bloodstains outside.
Ian said, "I'm sorry, I can't leave."
"Why?" Lena looked at Ian with bright, sparkling eyes. "Someone just died here, and you still want to stay?"
Ian hesitated for a moment, then said, "Actually, I still have some interviews to do."
"An interview?" Lena clutched her chest in astonishment.
Ian nodded: "It's the habit of media workers to keep digging for breaking news. If someone's death will attract public attention, we usually go further and interview people around him, his family, and people who have been through it all, to squeeze out every last bit of value... Good news can't just be one story; there will be many derivatives."
"Oh my god, this is so shameless!" Lena covered her cute little mouth.
You're reopening old wounds and stabbing them in the back!
The banker was more experienced.
Gaskell coughed lightly. "Lena, this isn't shamelessness, it's dedication, it's hard work. Every industry has its principles. As a journalist, his responsibility is to seize every opportunity to obtain sufficient information, and for this, he even went so far as to film live gunfights… He may have used other people's suffering as a bargaining chip for his own profit, but he also risked his life. As successful businessmen, we usually consider this the kind of person who does big things, someone worthy of trust, investment, and lending!"
Lena suddenly realized what was happening.
After all, bankers are known for their ruthless exploitation!
Offering umbrellas on sunny days and taking them back on rainy days is their consistent principle. Isn't their trip to Auckland precisely to see if the target company is going to be affected by the rain?
Lena quickly said, "I'm so sorry, but..."
She looked at her husband.
Gaskell said, "We can change rooms."
He then turned to Ian: "I guess you're going to interview me too."
