Demigod Mage in America

Chapter 48 I Want to Check the Cards

As soon as Ryan sat down, the dealer informed him that the minimum bet at the VIP table was 500.

"Sure." He couldn't bet less than 5000 each time.

He had just nodded in agreement to participate when Murphy, sitting opposite him, suddenly called over a waiter and whispered a few words in his ear.

The security guard nodded as he listened, and then came over to Ryan and began to speak to them in a low voice.

For Ryan, he could hear anyone's voice, even their thoughts, whenever he wanted.

But he didn't do that. Instead, he kept a playful smile on his lips, wondering what these people were up to.

Since the game was halfway through when Ryan arrived, he could not participate and could only watch from the sidelines.

After the security guard finished speaking with the waiter, the waiter nodded, returned to Murphy's side and whispered something in her ear. Murphy's expression immediately darkened at a visible speed.

In the end, he only glanced at Raine and did not retaliate.

After one round of cards ends, a new round is about to begin.

Murphy was about to get up when he was unexpectedly frozen in place, and his expression changed drastically.

He looked at Raine, only to find that the other man hadn't noticed him at all. Just as he was about to make a move, he felt a shadow fall over him.

"Mr. Murphy, please wait a moment."

He turned around and saw a woman as white as snow.

"You..." His expression changed drastically, and a deep sense of apprehension flashed in his eyes.

"I would like to invite you to participate in a game."

Ryan naturally sensed something was amiss, and his smile became even more playful.

Before the new game began, the woman walked over to the dealer and gestured for him to step back.

"Distinguished guests, I am the manager here. Welcome!"

Renn's gaze lingered on her; she was wearing a white kimono, and her long black hair cascaded down to her waist.

She's about the same height as him; in other words, she has a model's physique.

The kimono accentuated her curvaceous figure, revealing a deep cleavage.

Contrary to her alluring figure, which could easily be added to Azur Lane, the woman's expression was indifferent.

His eyebrows and eyes were sharp, his face was expressionless, and even the corners of his mouth did not curve at all.

When he speaks, it sounds more like a robot reading aloud.

"Tonight, I will personally entertain all our distinguished guests."

She used honorifics throughout, and her kimono immediately reminded Renn of a country.

For some unknown reason, the woman assigned Ryan to the dealer position, which meant he would be the last to act.

As the game began, an obese, bald, middle-aged Asian man pushed a stack of chips to the center of the table. He was placing the blinds, which are the lowest bets in the prize pool.

The woman smiled slightly at him, causing the man to look infatuated. Clearly, winning a smile from this beauty made the man very happy.

But Ryan didn't see any smile on her face, only a formulaic expression.

The woman was just about to shuffle the cards when Ryan said, "I want to check the cards."

This request is normal and reasonable, but it's not appropriate in this situation.

Where is this? The largest casino in New York, owned by a true financial tycoon.

Ryan's request was tantamount to slapping the boss in the face.

However, the woman showed no displeasure; instead, a strange light flashed in her pupils—the light of a hunter seeing his prey step into a trap.

Unbeknownst to her, the same light flashed in Raine's pupils.

The difference is that it's the joy a child experiences when they discover a toy.

As soon as he picked up the cards, Ryan discovered that they had indeed been tampered with; the face of the cards was variable. A card of the same thickness actually had three facets.

The dealer can change the face of the cards when dealing them to the person they want to deal them to.

This deck of cards was brought by this beautiful woman.

As Raine thought of this, the corners of his mouth curved into an even wider smile.

There's something counterintuitive about this: the bigger and more reputable the casino, the less likely it is to resort to underhanded tactics.

Because gambling is actually a 6:4 split from the very beginning. Players may win in the short term and become rich, but as long as they play for a long time, the house will always win.

But now that the other party has resorted to such tactics, they are either getting impatient or they are beginning to doubt his identity.

Considering that he himself hadn't won nine figures, Ryan guessed it must be the latter.

Ryan cuts the cards with both hands, leaving marks that only he can see, so that he can decide the shape of the cards as he pleases.

Since the other side has started using superpowers to play cards, then don't blame them.

After the two playing cards were returned to the woman, she began shuffling the cards, followed by dealing them.

The first step is to burn a card, which means to remove one card. The card burned is the 5 of hearts.

During the dealing phase, each person is dealt two hole cards, followed by the betting phase.

The man from before simply waved his hand and pushed up 5000 chips.

Raymond was clearly reluctant, but after Murphy said a few words, he had no choice but to place his bet.

There are only two ways to play Texas: play or quit.

"Calling" means matching the amount others bet, or increasing the bet.

Another option is to fold and give up the bet for this round.

Ryan didn't even look at his hole cards and called immediately.

As a result, the prize pool instantly accumulated to 5.

Then came the three open cards, followed by a new round of betting.

Ryan glanced at the open cards: 7 of Clubs, King of Hearts, and Ace of Spades.

Several people hesitated, but the bald man did not. He continued to bet, with a smile on his face that was both ingratiating and confident.

Ryan glanced at the prize pool; it had reached $10, but it still wasn't enough.

Raymond glanced at his hole cards, shook his head, and indicated that he was folding.

Murphy glanced around, his face full of confidence.

"Add 5000."

Renn smiled slightly: "Yes."

"and."

After one round, 4 out of 12 players folded, leaving 8 players to continue to the next round.

In the new round, the revealed card is the Ace of Diamonds.

Three players folded, leaving five players.

Baldy placed a bet, Murphy called, and Ryan immediately raised the bet.

From beginning to end, he never once looked at his own hand.

At the gambling table, there are two types of people: the banker and the gullible.

Although the woman in the kimono was hosting the card game, she kept glancing at Renn out of the corner of her eye.

Murphy couldn't help but frown. What was this guy up to?

He knew that Ryan must have cheated before, but he didn't know how, because even he hadn't noticed.

How can someone cheat by touching the cards? How can they cheat without touching the cards?

Unless Raine is not an ordinary person either, but he has no mystery or possession, how could such a person be a member of the mystical world?

The new open card is a King of Diamonds.

Ryan only has 3 chips left, and the VIP table is swallowing money up incredibly fast.

"Add another ten thousand!" Murphy's joy was barely concealed.

The bald man originally wanted to raise the bet, but after glancing at his hole cards, he looked distressed.

However, after a brief hesitation, he gritted his teeth and pushed out another 1 chips.

Ryan laughed, a typical gambler's mentality.

In Texas Hold'em, you don't always need a stronger hand than your opponent. As long as you make your opponent feel that your hand is stronger and choose to fold, you will be the winner, even if your hole cards are terrible.

Seeing this, the others all chose to give up. If they stopped now, they would at most lose some chips; if they continued to bet, they would only lose more.

At this point, the prize pool on the gambling table had reached 180,000.
