Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 14 The Visit of the Angels
While the members of the Super Soldier Company were sweating it out on the training field, adapting to unimaginable strength and discipline, on the other side of the city, Lin Yu's residence was surrounded by a completely different tranquility—he was focused on a complex new recipe in his hands, trying to recreate a taste from the depths of his memory.
However, this tranquility was broken by a slight yet undeniable disturbance of energy. It wasn't a knock on the door, but a subtle ripple in the space, like water gently touching the shore.
Lin Yu put down the recipe in his hand, walked to the door, and calmly opened it.
Outside the door, instead of the expected neighbors or delivery person, stood three tall, stunningly beautiful women. The afternoon sun seemed to favor them, casting a soft glow on their exquisite faces and graceful figures. Even more striking were the folded white wings behind them and the ethereal, almost divine aura surrounding them that inspired instinctive awe and distance.
The one in the lead was none other than Angel Yan. She still maintained that casual yet condescending posture, her wine-red hair gently swaying in the breeze, and her red lips curving into a familiar arc, tinged with a hint of inquiry and playfulness.
"Child, we meet again." Her voice was melodious, yet it seemed to carry a subtle electric current, drilling directly into one's consciousness. "Aren't you going to invite me in? Earth's hospitality doesn't seem to be like this."
Lin Yu's gaze calmly swept over the three high-ranking angels, his face showing no surprise or fear. He stepped aside, clearing a path to the interior, his tone as casual as if he were greeting a pre-booked guest: "Come in. It's small, please make yourself at home."
He walked straight back to the living room, sat down on the single sofa, and even picked up the perfectly warm cup of tea again, taking a small sip. The whole process was seamless, as if the three angels before him, from the highest known civilization in the universe, whose mere thoughts could determine the rise and fall of a civilization, were no different from old friends who had visited by chance in the afternoon.
"I wonder what brings the Thunder God of War to my humble abode?" He put down his teacup and looked up at Angel Yan, who was leaning lazily against the cabinet opposite him.
"You really do know a lot." The playful glint in Angel Yan's eyes faded slightly, replaced by a sharp glint. "You even know my title. This isn't information that ordinary Earthlings can access."
"Likewise," Lin Yu replied with a simple three-word answer, his tone flat and unchanging. "Aren't you just as 'curious' about me?"
Angel Yan said no more. Her eyes, which seemed to contain a galaxy, suddenly shone with a pure white light, deep and indifferent. The Eye of Insight—an advanced technology used by the Angel Civilization to read target information and analyze dark data—quietly activated. An invisible stream of data surged toward the motionless Lin Yu, attempting to strip away and analyze everything about him, from his genetic code to his thought fragments.
However, what Angel Yan perceived was not the clear data flow or comprehensible information modules she had anticipated, but rather a bottomless "nothingness." It was not encryption, not a barrier, and certainly not a disguise, but something fundamentally "unrecognizable" and "undefinable." It was like trying to weigh thoughts with a ruler that measures length, or trying to understand poetry using analytical chemistry methods—the dimensions and rules were fundamentally misaligned.
During this silent probe, Lin Yu picked up his teacup again, took a slow sip, seemingly oblivious to the technological force attempting to probe his existence. He set the cup down, the porcelain making a soft, crisp sound as it touched the glass coffee table.
"Gentlemen, please sit down, don't stand." He gestured to the sofa beside him, his tone carrying a hint of knowing indifference. "I've already said, you won't find anything you're looking for. Don't waste your energy."
The white light in Angel Yan's eyes slowly faded, and she frowned slightly, her perfectly shaped brows furrowing for the first time. For the first time, she revealed clear confusion and scrutiny in front of this "Earth child": "What exactly are you? With the level of technology left behind by Earth and even Deno, it is impossible to shield or even 'invalidate' the angel's Eye of Insight. This does not conform to any physical or informational laws of the known universe."
"What a...foolish question." Lin Yu raised his eyes, his gaze as deep as an ancient well, reflecting Angel Yan's exquisite face, yet without the slightest ripple. "Would you look at the sun high in the sky and question it, 'Why are you the sun? Why do you possess such power?' Existence itself is the answer; there is no need to explain the mechanism of its existence to those who question it."
"..." Angel Yan paused for a moment, clearly surprised by the answer and the other party's attitude. She quickly adjusted her strategy, changing to a more specific question, her tone becoming more certain: "Yesterday in Juxia City, the red-armored man who instantly killed the Gluttonous Vanguard and took away that policewoman, that was you."
"Heh." Lin Yu chuckled softly, his laughter devoid of emotion, only revealing a condescending, faint helplessness. "This question is even more foolish than the last one. Would you look at the sunlight that has already illuminated the earth and ask it, 'Why do you shine and give off heat?' The phenomenon is the fact. Inquiring about the 'why' that drives the phenomenon is meaningless in the face of facts that have already occurred, especially when the questioner's intention is to probe rather than to seek knowledge."
"Insolence!" Angel Moy, who had been standing on high alert to the right of Angel Yan, was instantly enraged. With a flick of her wrist, a sharp longsword burning with a faint golden flame appeared out of thin air, its tip carrying a chilling killing intent, pointing directly at Lin Yu's throat! A holy aura spread out along with her anger, and the air in the living room seemed to freeze.
Lin Yu didn't even lift his eyelids, as if the flaming sword so close yet capable of cutting through steel was merely an insignificant shadow in the air. He calmly took another sip of the remaining tea in his cup.
Just a moment before the sword tip touched his skin—
hum!
A dark red streak of light appeared silently, as if cutting into reality from another dimension. The Kabuto insect device hovered steadily beside Lin Yu like a guardian, its dark red carapace gleaming with a cold metallic light. It made no aggressive moves, simply hovering quietly, its compound eyes flickering, emitting a low, steady buzzing sound—a unique humming sound, like both a fine clock and the flapping of insect wings. That buzzing sound seemed to carry a strange frequency, subtly neutralizing the sharpness and divine pressure brought by the flaming sword.
Angel Yan raised her hand, stopping Moi from making any further moves. Her gaze was firmly drawn to this strange mechanical life form, her eyes flashing with undisguised surprise and intense interest. She examined Kabuto's sleek and biologically beautiful form, sensing the peculiar fluctuations that were neither kinetic energy, nor dark energy, nor any known driving mechanism.
"You really are... very interesting, kid." Angel Yan's displeasure faded, and she once again displayed that bright smile that could eclipse the stars. However, this time, there was a hint of genuine inquiry and wariness in the depths of her smile.
She leaned forward slightly, and even from several meters away, the invisible pressure belonging to a high-ranking angel, to the left-wing guardian of the Holy Keisha, subtly permeated the air, enveloping Lin Yu as if it were a tangible force: "So, one last question. Can you represent Earth, represent the will of this pre-nuclear civilization? Or have you already, in some form, become the native... 'god' of this planet?"
Lin Yu finally put down his teacup, leaning back against the sofa, his posture still relaxed. He met Angel Yan's penetrating gaze without flinching, his voice clear and firm:
"I cannot represent Earth, nor do I intend to. The fate and will of a planet are too heavy a burden to be borne by any single individual. If you wish to understand or negotiate, you should go to the Super God Academy; they are currently the official window for Earth's civilization to face the universe."
He paused, his gaze becoming deep and focused, as if stating an inviolable law:
"As for me, I'll just take care of my own little corner and protect the people I want to protect. Whether they are angels who uphold the order of 'justice,' demons who pursue 'fallen freedom,' or any other monsters and demons... don't mess with me, don't cross the lines I've drawn, that's the best and only way for us to get along."
These words were direct, even somewhat "rude," especially when addressed to the most advanced civilization in the known universe. But Angel Yan, far from being angered, smiled even more brightly, her eyes gleaming with the light of someone who had discovered a rare treasure.
"Very good. You have personality, strength, and your own 'path'." She nodded, her tone carrying a hint of appreciation and a deeper meaning. "Child, I think... we will meet again. Interesting things are happening in this universe, and you are undoubtedly one of the most interesting variables."
She said no more pleasantries, nor left any warnings or promises. She turned cleanly and deftly, her pure white wings unfolding gracefully and powerfully in the small living room, creating a gentle breeze. Angel Chase and Moy followed closely behind.
With a faint flash of light, the figures of the three high-ranking angels vanished from the room, just as abruptly as they had arrived, leaving only a faint, unique fragrance of angels in the air, and the three streaks of light that quickly disappeared into the clouds on the horizon outside the window.
Lin Yu slowly got up, walked to the window, and quietly looked in the direction where they disappeared. His gaze was distant, as if piercing through the clouds and looking directly at the deep starry sky.
"Kabuto," he murmured, as if speaking to himself, yet also as if talking to his closest comrade, "what should we do next?"
The Kabuto insect device, which had been silently hovering behind him, flew lightly forward upon hearing this, and as if it possessed intelligence, gently landed on his slightly raised shoulder. Its dark red horn flickered almost imperceptibly.
A peaceful, firm thought, seemingly originating directly from the core will of the armor system, clearly entered Lin Yu's mind. It wasn't a sound, but pure cognition:
Follow the will that is clear in your heart, and walk the path you have chosen and ought to walk. This is our covenant. The path is already beneath your feet.
---
Outside Earth's atmosphere, in the cold outer space.
Angel Yan, Zhui, and Mo Yi hovered against the backdrop of the starry sky, gazing at the beautiful blue planet below.
"Sister Yan, did you... notice anything amiss just now?" Angel Chase couldn't help but ask, her face still showing lingering confusion. The Eye of Insight failing was an extremely rare experience for them.
Angel Yan slowly shook her head, the ease and playfulness on her face long gone, replaced by an unusual solemnity and deep thought. She gazed in the direction of Juxia City, as if she could still see that overly calm young man from Earth.
"No. My Eye of Insight cannot analyze him at all, nor can it even define the form of existence of the mechanical life form beside him. This is not encryption or shielding technology, but more like... his very existence is fundamentally different from the rules of the universe as we understand them."
She took a deep breath (even though there is no air in space), and the data stream flashed rapidly in her eyes again:
"I have uploaded all the sensory data I just encountered, including the abnormal feedback of 'invalidation,' to the Angel Nebula in real time. I have also requested a direct connection to Queen Keisha's sacred knowledge treasury, requesting the highest-level data comparison and information retrieval."
Her gaze became distant and serious:
"Perhaps only the sacred treasure trove of knowledge, which gathers the highest wisdom and ancient memories of the entire angel civilization, can find even the slightest clue or possible answer about him, about that 'Kabuto,' from the vast ocean of information in the known universe, which even touches the unknown boundaries."
"This man, and the power he represents, must be reassessed. He may be..." Angel Yan paused, his voice lowering, "a crucial 'anomaly' that we never anticipated, one that could influence many possibilities for the future."
