Chapter 204 The Eve of the Storm
In the core hangar area of the Mangdangshan, the steel dome hangs low, and cold white beams of light pierce the darkness like swords, dividing the entire area into a chessboard of light and shadow. The air is filled with the ozone scent unique to low-temperature metal and energy circuits, as well as a tense silence characteristic of elite combat units.
The massive alloy gate slid open silently, and Lin Yu, accompanied by Nogami Ryotaro (and the ever-present phantoms of Momotaros, Kintaros, and Urataros), stepped into the core mobile fortress of the Earth's Super Soldier Company. The hangar was brightly lit, with various types of combat aircraft, transport pods, and engineering mechs neatly arranged. Personnel in black armor or military uniforms bustled about, and the air was thick with the scent of metal, energy, and a tense atmosphere of preparation for war.
"Wow—! What a huge spaceship! Much bigger than the Den-O!" Ryotaro couldn't help but exclaim, his eyes darting around curiously. The Momotaros phantom within him excitedly shouted, "Oh! These metal lumps look pretty sturdy! Can we take them apart and use them in a fight?"
"You idiot Momotaros! You can't just take other people's things apart!" Ryotaro's own consciousness quickly and quietly stopped him.
Lin Yu was already used to this. He simply nodded to the few officers who came up to him with serious expressions, who had obviously been notified, and walked straight to a relatively independent tactical preparation area deep inside the hangar.
There, a squad of about twelve men, clad in specially made G3 enhanced combat suits, stood silently in formation. They were well-equipped, carrying not only standard god-slaying rifles and tactical knives, but also oddly shaped sniper rifles and detection devices seemingly designed to counter anomalous bio-energy. The leader, tall and straight as a pine tree, had his visor lifted to reveal a face with hard lines and a steady, resolute gaze—it was Wei Laoqi. His G3 armor appeared to have been specially modified; golden energy patterns subtly flowed at the joints, and his back armor bore an insignia resembling beetle keratin—the symbol of the Steel Bucket System.
Seeing Lin Yu approach, a hint of respect and closeness flashed in Wei Laoqi's eyes. He immediately stood at attention and saluted, "Master!" The members of the G3 team behind him also saluted in unison, their movements uniform and exuding an air of elite skill in silence.
Lin Yu nodded, his gaze sweeping over the sharp blade he had personally forged. "The situation is urgent, so let's skip the unnecessary details." He gestured to the side, "Nogami Ryotaro, and Momotaros, Kintaros, and Urataros—special allies from other worlds. Their powers take on vastly different forms, specifically designed to counter unconventional threats."
Ryotaro quickly bowed, "Please, please guide me!" The phantom of Momotaros beside him had already taken a half step forward, waving his hand casually, "Yo! Not bad! Hey, you over there, leader, want to spar with me a couple of times to warm up?" The phantom of Kintaros snorted, but his gaze was examining the details of G3's armor with great interest. The phantom of Urataros smiled slightly and gave a somewhat flamboyant bow, "It is an honor to work with you all."
Wei Laoqi exchanged quick glances with his teammates, suppressing his surprise—the people Lin Yu brought were beyond question. "Understood! Welcome our allies!" The responses were perfectly synchronized, like the clash of anvils.
"Freize has shown an unusual energy reaction, suspected to be a precursor to Void activity. Qilin and Kadoya Tsukasa have already infiltrated ahead of time." Lin Yu spoke calmly, yet each word carried immense weight. "Your mission: depart immediately to provide reinforcements, assist in defense, and complete in-depth reconnaissance and threat assessment."
Wei Laoqi's eyes narrowed sharply: "Yes! G3 team guarantees to complete the mission!"
"Not just G3." Lin Yu looked at him. "Seventh Brother, you come with me. The rest of you, complete the final procedures of the 'Abyss Hunting Protocol,' and board the plane in thirty minutes."
"yes!"
Inside the tactical preparation room, the door was closed, isolating the outside world from the hum of machinery.
"Seventh Brother," Lin Yu looked directly into his disciple's eyes, "this target may touch the very origin of the void. Conventional methods of destruction may be significantly less effective."
Wei Laoqi straightened his back even more: "Please give me your instructions, teacher. I will follow any method that works."
Lin Yu pointed to the three illusory figures who were curiously observing the indoor equipment and even arguing quietly, as well as the somewhat flustered Ryotaro: "They possess the ability to 'possess,' which allows them to temporarily bestow their traits and powers upon a host. This power has a unique resistance to and destructive force against mental erosion and void pollution."
Momotaros immediately moved closer to Wei Laoqi, almost pressing his face against him: "Oh? It's you? Looks pretty tough! My strength is super-berserk, can you handle it?"
Wei Laoqi's brows twitched slightly. Instead of retreating, he focused his attention on sensing the scorching, direct, and impactful energy fluctuations emanating from the other's illusory figure. "Possession... similar to energy resonance and will superposition? My body and the 'Steel Fighter' system should be able to serve as a vessel."
"It's not just about the carrier," Lin Yu said in a deep voice, "the key lies in its integration with the 'Steel Bucket' system's 'Clock Up.' Combining absolute speed with their extra-regular characteristics—perhaps this can create 'special strikes' against high-risk void units. This is a trump card prepared for critical moments."
The phantom of Kintaros nodded, its voice like a muffled drum: "Speed and power are inherently one! I approve of this cooperation." The phantom of Urtaros chuckled: "It seems it will be...an unforgettable journey, Mr. Wei." Ryotaro also looked earnestly at Wei Laoqi: "Brother Wei, we will do our best to cooperate and not cause any trouble!"
Wei Laoqi took a deep breath, the aura clearly audible within the sealed helmet. "I understand. When necessary, I will proactively open my mental link, accept power, and attempt to coordinate with the Steel Fighter System." He paused, his words resounding, "To fulfill my mission and protect what needs to be protected, I am willing to become this 'vessel'."
"Alright." Lin Yu raised his hand and pressed down on his heavy shoulder armor. "Remember, the initiative is yours. 'Follow the Way of Heaven, govern all'—your will is the key to unifying everything. As for the others..." He glanced at the alien gods who were bickering again over "who should try first," a faint hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes. "They have different personalities, but their core is reliable. There will be a lot of friction along the way."
With the arrangements complete, Lin Yu personally escorted everyone to the specially modified assault ship "Shadow Blade". The streamlined hull gleamed with a matte finish, and some of the exposed equipment shimmered with strange patterns originating from angelic and demonic technology.
At the boarding gate, Lin Yu gave his final instructions: "Upon arrival, follow the intelligence commands of Kadoya Tsukasa and Qi Lin. G3 will be responsible for routine tactical clearing and area control. Lao Qi, Ryotaro, you two, as the special operations unit, will focus on high-value targets. Primary objective: to ascertain the Void's true intentions in Frieza."
"Understood!" Old Seven Wei saluted solemnly.
"Mr. Lin Yu, please rest assured!" Ryotaro nodded vigorously.
The phantom of Momotaros gave a thumbs-up: "Just wait and see how much trouble we cause!"
The Shadowblade's engines started, the low hum turning into a sharp screech, and the ship silently slid out of its berth, blending into the starlight background. In an instant, it transformed into an elusive glimmer of light, piercing towards Frazier's location.
Lin Yu stood alone at the observation window of the Mangdang Mountain, watching the streak of light disappear into the deep space. He threw his sharpest blade, along with the variables from another world, into that unknown dark cloud.
"Next..." the whisper fell into the cold air, "it's time to see what kind of strategy lies hidden beneath Hua Ye's audacity and Karl's silence."
