Chapter 97 Setting Sail
The news that Tianren No. 7 had successfully broken through the Taotie blockade and landed above Earth was like a shot in the arm. The Super Soldier Squad and the angels then arrived at the location of China's ultimate weapon—the Mangdang Mountain.
Stepping into this massive, mountain-like underground base, one is greeted by the bustling activity of staff and sophisticated equipment, a palpable tension and order set in motion before battle. Looking at the magnificent warships and base, Ge Xiaolun couldn't help but exclaim, "A nation is still a nation!" Liu Chuang, standing beside him, immediately echoed in his signature style, "Your grandpa is still your grandpa!"
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng, who was walking in front, turned around and, facing the assembled crowd, clearly gave the instructions:
"You have ten minutes to familiarize yourselves with the environment and rest. After ten minutes, our mission is to provide support for 'Skyblade No. 7'." Her gaze swept over every face, her tone resolute. "We must complete all pre-battle preparations and start the engines within the next three hours. If everything goes according to plan, we will begin our first major battle at 8 PM tonight, North Star time!"
As she walked, she continued her instructions: "Everyone, please take your duties. I hope we can give the people of the whole country a satisfactory answer over the Northern Star!" At this point, her tone softened slightly, and she added a very pragmatic sentence: "Alright, those who need to use the restroom, hurry up."
Then, she looked at Ge Xiaolun: "Xiaolun, I heard that you successfully activated the anti-void engine and mastered some new capabilities. Go and connect with the communications team immediately. We need to use your abilities to reorganize and rebuild the entire army's communications network."
"Okay!" Ge Xiaolun nodded in agreement, feeling the heavy responsibility on his shoulders.
After most of the people had left, Lingfeng led Lena to the core area of the Mangdang Mountain—the Hengxing Energy Engine Room. The enormous energy core lay dormant before them.
Lingfeng said solemnly to Lena, "I know this isn't easy for you either. But without you, 'Sunlight' simply cannot be activated."
Lena nodded, examining the magnificent creation. "Hmm, such a massive aerial fortress, how could it possibly fly without an energy source more powerful than nuclear power?" She paused, a hint of pride in her voice. "This is also part of my Blazing Sun Technology."
Lingfeng cut to the chase: "I hope you can help us complete the initial power-up of the Mangdangshan within an hour, at least to propel it into space. Once in space, the spacecraft can directly absorb stellar energy and become self-sufficient."
"I can do that," Lena answered confidently, but then raised a realistic concern, "However, even if we successfully launch it into space, with Earth's current overall strength, we probably won't be able to engage in a 'battle of the century' with the Taotie fleet. Are you sure you want to take that risk? The price could be enormous."
"Because of 'Skyblade VII'." Ling Feng's eyes flashed with a resolute light. "As far as we know, the Skyblade series is one of the most advanced combat celestial bodies in the known universe. Its arrival will completely change the balance of power."
Lena remained cautious: "Even so, wouldn't the sacrifices in a direct confrontation be too great?"
Lingfeng's gaze was unwavering: "That depends on you, the Super Soldier Corps, and the sisters of the Angels. Besides," she changed the subject, her voice filled with undeniable confidence, "our armor series is sufficient to deal with most of the Taotie soldiers!"
In the courtyard of North Star, time seemed to slow down. Lin Yu watched as He Xi and Keisha, two of the most powerful kings in the known universe, were arguing fiercely over a single move in a game of chess, like ordinary best friends, and couldn't help but chuckle.
Remembering his business, he asked, "Those little guys are getting ready to go to space; it's going to be quite a spectacle. Want to go check it out?"
"I'm not going." He Xi didn't even look up, her slender fingers holding a white chess piece, her gaze fixed on the ever-changing chessboard. "That perverted Karl might be hiding in some dark corner, spying on us. If we show ourselves, it will only make him more wary and add more uncertainty." She gently placed a piece down, her tone indifferent. "Let them figure it out themselves."
Seeing the two of them lost in thought again, Lin Yu shook his head, walked to He Xi's side, leaned down and asked in a low voice, "Where is the Shenhe Ruins? I want to go and see it."
He Xi tilted her head slightly and, in a voice only the two of them could hear, transmitted a complex string of cosmic coordinates to Lin Yu via clandestine communication. After the transmission was complete, she looked up at him, her tone carrying a barely perceptible concern: "Be careful. That place… has been silent for too long; nobody knows what else is hidden there. Go and come back soon," she paused, then added, instantly shifting the atmosphere from interstellar adventure back to casual conversation, "I'm waiting for you to cook."
"Okay." Lin Yu smiled and quickly kissed her smooth cheek. "Then I'm leaving."
After speaking, he took a step back, raised his hand and made a sweeping motion in the air, unfurling a seven-colored light screen. He stepped into it, and the light screen, along with his figure, instantly contracted and disappeared, as if it had never existed.
He Xi subconsciously raised her hand and gently wiped the spot on her face where she had been kissed, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up slightly.
Keisha, sitting opposite her, took in everything. She shook her head helplessly and sighed in a tone of "I can't bear to watch," "You two... sigh, never mind." She slammed a chess piece onto the board, trying to regain her previous seriousness. "Continue! It's your turn. Don't try to cheat."
He Xi withdrew her gaze from the direction where Lin Yu had disappeared and refocused on the chessboard, but a faint trace of concern appeared in her eyes.
