Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 99 Obsession
A colorful light curtain silently unfolded in the courtyard of North Star, and Lin Yu stepped out from it. Time seemed to linger in the courtyard as ever; He Xi and Keisha were comfortably reclining on deck chairs, enjoying a rare moment of tranquility. However, Lin Yu's return stirred a slight ripple in this peace.
"You're back?" He Xi spoke first, her gaze shifting from the sky to Lin Yu, a hint of barely perceptible concern in her eyes. "Did you find anything?"
Lin Yu walked to the stone bench next to them and sat down, shaking his head: "No. Kabuto scanned it, but it was completely silent, they found nothing." He paused, his tone becoming serious, "However, I have a strong feeling that someone is watching me."
"Staring at you?" Upon hearing this, He Xi sat up gracefully, her languid expression instantly replaced by thoughtfulness. "With your current perception and Kabuto's reconnaissance skills, it shouldn't be just a simple illusion. Who do you think it could be?"
At this moment, Keisha, who was standing next to him, slowly sat up. Her golden hair flowed in the sunlight, and her clear and deep gaze fell on Lin Yu, waiting for his judgment.
Meeting the gazes of the two Angel Kings, Lin Yu uttered the most likely name: "At this time, besides Kieran, I can't think of anyone else who has the ability and the possibility to appear in such a place."
"Kieran..." Keisha repeated softly, falling into a brief moment of contemplation. "He almost disappeared from the known universe after the destruction of the Divine River Civilization, leaving only the Super God Academy behind. If it really is him, it's not impossible."
"Interesting," Lin Yu said with a playful smile. "He's observing me from the shadows, yet he's unwilling to show himself. I wonder what this old guy is up to."
A sharp glint flashed in He Xi's eyes as she suggested, "Now that we've identified our target, why don't we go find him now and get to the bottom of this?"
"No need." Lin Yu waved his hand, appearing very magnanimous. "Since he chose to observe from the shadows instead of showing himself, it means he doesn't want to contact me for the time being. Even if we turn the Divine River Ruins upside down now, we still won't find him if he doesn't want to see us. There's no need to waste our energy."
He stood up, temporarily suppressing the mysteries about Kilan and the Shenhe Ruins in his mind, and a relaxed smile returned to his face.
"I don't want to think about it anymore, it's too much trouble. Eating is the most important thing," he said as he walked towards the kitchen. "I'll start cooking first. Have you decided what to eat?"
Soon, the kitchen was filled with the rhythmic sounds of chopping vegetables and sizzling oil. The Kabuto insect detector hovered quietly in the corner, like a loyal sentinel. Before long, an enticing aroma wafted out.
When Lin Yu brought the last dish—a bright red, trembling braised pork belly—to the table, the small stone table was already occupied by four other dishes: in addition to the braised pork belly, there were also tempting golden-red sweet and sour pork ribs, rich cola chicken wings, and hot, spicy and fragrant Mapo tofu.
"Dinner's ready," Lin Yu announced, and He Xi and Keisha happily took their seats.
The meal was warm and satisfying, temporarily dispelling the heavy topic of Shenhe and Jilan from before. However, just as the three of them put down their chopsticks and prepared to clean up,
A sudden change has occurred!
A strange beam of light, incredibly thick and containing indescribable energy, shot up from somewhere on the distant horizon without warning, piercing straight into the sky!
Even more chilling was that, with the burst of that beam of light, the entire sky seemed to be instantly splashed with thick ink, plunging into darkness! This was not the natural arrival of night, but a more thorough "blackness," as if all light had been forcibly drawn away or swallowed up. The sunlight became weak and unreal in an instant, and the world fell into an eerie gloom.
Lin Yu sat at the table, gazing up at the pillar of light that pierced the heavens and earth and the sky that had been blackened. His face showed little surprise. He murmured to himself, his voice clearly reaching the ears of the two queens beside him: "It has begun."
Within the dimly lit Deathsong Academy, Karl's pale face was made even more profound by the eerie blue light emanating from the "Great Clock." He silently gazed at this greatest celestial computer in the known universe, seemingly calculating something, or perhaps reaffirming a certain resolve. A moment later, his figure vanished like a phantom, appearing directly in the desolate ruins of the Divine River.
He wandered through this tomb of civilization, finally arriving at the center of nothingness. Here, he had sensed a barely perceptible ripple. Facing the empty void, like a devout yet obsessive student, he softly spoke:
"Teacher, there's...no sound here." His voice, unable to travel in a vacuum, echoed clearly on a specific frequency. "Even you...don't want to believe in the truth of emptiness?"
Waiting only brought endless silence.
Karl bowed slightly, his posture still elegant, yet carrying an indescribable sense of desolation: "Since you don't want to see me, then I'll leave."
His figure vanished slowly, as if erased by an eraser. After he left, a faint sigh, filled with endless complex emotions, echoed in the void—"Alas..." It was Kieran's response, filled with regret for his former student's misguided path and helplessness in the face of his predetermined fate.
Meanwhile, Liang Bing was aboard her demon-winged flagship. Unlike Karl's ruthless pursuit, she focused most of her energy on comforting Rose, who was depressed due to the upheaval on Earth. She toned down her flamboyant demeanor as the Demon King, displaying rare patience and gentleness as she tried to soothe Rose's inner wounds and confusion.
After confirming that Rose's emotions had temporarily stabilized, Liang Bing entrusted the bridge affairs to Ator and then quietly arrived in Frieza via a wormhole. Her destination was clear—the Southern Kingdom, and the future Angel Queen, Anise. She needed to personally assess this successor chosen by Keisha.
