Chapter 11 The Elf Kingdom
in the afternoon.
Amberlie arrived at the council hall, where the Queen of the Elf Kingdom, the ten elders, and Dewayne were all present.
Queen Flora spoke first: "What are your thoughts on the visit of both the orc and human delegations?"
None of the elders spoke. With Amberley and Dewayne present in today's council, the Queen must be intentionally grooming them.
After glancing at Amberly and seeing that she didn't intend to speak, Dewayne calmly analyzed, "The reason for the orc delegation's visit is that the Tyrantis Empire recently wants to retake Blackrock Garrison. We certainly cannot easily help the orcs, lest the Tyrantis Empire and humans become hostile towards us, but we also cannot let humans win easily."
He added, "I believe the orc delegation is right. With magic waning, the human empire is too powerful, forcing other races to flee their ancestral lands."
Many half-elf elders agreed.
"Lily, do you have something to say?" an elven elder asked her.
The crowd quieted down, ready to hear her opinion.
"I have no idea."
Amberley gave the same answer, looked up at them, and seeing that everyone was dissatisfied with her words, could only continue: "I don't think we should get involved in the conflicts on the continent, but I also know that we can't avoid getting involved."
"I agree with Lil," another elven elder said.
"War won't stop just because you hide," Dwayne said, glancing at Amberley again.
The council chamber fell silent.
As before, elves and half-elves have many disagreements on many things.
The Queen finally spoke: "We cannot lose the faith of the elves. As for the orc delegation, let them go and persuade the other races in the forest."
No one objected.
Despite the presence of council elders, the Queen's authority remains, and she can make decisions on many matters with a single word.
"Lily," Flora smiled at her.
All the elves looked on, and Amberley then spoke up: "I've found a place where we can perhaps escape the strife!"
"The issue of relocation has been brought up again?" A half-elf elder frowned, clearly opposed to the elves moving away from the Frostmist Forest.
"No, I found a territory completely far removed from the conflicts on the mainland, and I met a very easy-going lord."
Amberley began to tell them what had happened that morning.
After hearing this, everyone was surprised and asked for more details.
"You want to relocate the elves to a place without magic?!" A half-elf elder exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, whether it has magic or not, I don't think it matters."
"Amberley said."
"It's impossible for it not to be related! You know the effects of the decline of magic. If we go to live in a place without any magic, how will we use magic? We won't be able to do many things anymore, and we won't even be able to maintain our long lifespan and youth!"
The half-elf elder looked at her and said, "Especially you, Lil. You are a high elf. Without magic, you will be even weaker than an ordinary elf."
"Yes, I know," Amberley said calmly, "but I don't think it matters."
The group exchanged glances.
I don't approve of going.
"Lily, you're too naive."
"Is there no more conflict on that continent called Earth? Without magic, how will we defend ourselves against invaders? Will that lord named Lin An protect you forever? Is he a cruel lord? Is there a conspiracy involved?"
"I don't think we should risk sending Lil to unfamiliar places again!"
One question after another was raised, and Amberley was unable to convince so many people, so she had no choice but to seek help from the Queen.
Flora chuckled, "Lily is indeed a bit naive. She's still young. Your concerns are valid. But will we be able to escape the conflicts after moving to that island? Is that lord trustworthy?"
"Lily, there are many things you need to consider," she said encouragingly.
Amberley stood up and accepted the task given to her by the Queen, saying, "I will go to Mr. Lin's territory again tomorrow to learn more."
The Queen said, "I will find some people to go with you."
Lily agreed, and the new contract Mr. Lin gave the three of them clearly stated that they could bring other people with them.
……
After the meeting, Flora and Amberley returned to the palace's backyard. The two walked along the flower-filled garden corridor, a warm breeze caressing their beautiful faces. The guards withdrew, leaving Flora to chat with her.
He asked her many questions about Lin An, even down to the details of his every glance and every word.
Upon learning that Lin An had asked Lil for several hundred kilograms of rice and noodles, Flora asked in surprise, "Why didn't you mention this?"
Amberley was somewhat taken aback. "Do I need to say it? Mr. Lin promised me that he would repay me for the grain in the future."
The elves don't eat much on a daily basis, so they don't have much food stored up. If the food they lend out isn't returned, the villagers will go hungry for a while.
However, there is still surplus grain in the capital. If Lin An does not return, Li'er will ask the capital for more grain.
Flora sighed, cupping Lily's beautiful, flawless face in her hands, and said affectionately, "Lily, it's too early for a child as young as you to take on the responsibility of leading the elves. I'll be queen for a few more years."
He then explained with a smile, "If there is nothing to hide, then a lord who is willing to help the disaster-stricken civilians cannot be of bad character, especially since those disaster-stricken people have not yet become his subjects."
Amberley thought about it and realized it made a lot of sense.
"Tomorrow, I'll have Felicity go with you."
"Okay, thank you for believing me, Flora."
Amber smiled, her heart filled with anticipation for seeing Mr. Lin again tomorrow. She wondered if the food she had lent out had helped Miss Wang.
……
Outside Anxing County.
Wang Zhixing, Commander Zhou, and others, who had been waiting for a long time, witnessed a scene they would never forget:
More than a dozen bags of rice fell from the sky, some of the bags burst open, and the white rice scattered all over the ground.
The starving disaster victims nearby stared in disbelief, shouting, "It's grain! Rice! Rice! And flour! My goodness! Grain has fallen from the sky!!"
Screams swept through the disaster camp like a whirlwind, and crowds surged forward. Commander Zhou quickly led his men, shouting with spears that they should stay away!
Upon returning to Anxing County, Wang Wanxiu collapsed to the ground. Hearing the commotion around her, she quickly stood up and saw many people watching. Her face flushed with embarrassment, and she hurriedly hid behind her mother.
Her mother trembled with excitement, grabbing her hand and repeatedly asking, "My dear daughter, did you go to the gods? And you even received food from them!"
Upon hearing this, Wang Wanxiu smiled shyly and said softly to her mother, "Mother, this was lent to me by a young master named Lin An."
"Lin An?"
"Young master?"
