Chapter 54: Could He Be Related To The Incident?

The news of the mishap gave her a jolt! It all happened so unexpectedly.

She thought that she would be fired right away. After all, the manager had the final say, regardless of the reason for her termination. She was prepared for the worst.

Everyone was already there on the ground floor surrounding the announcement board that was pasted with a notice. To her utter surprise, the notice of sanction was given to none other than their general manager in BLOVE.

Ning Youyou stood astounded. How was that even possible?

“Oh, thank heavens! That’s the end of the manager. I can finally see lights of hope shining upon us!”

“He deserves it!”

“I wonder who’s going to be the next manager.”

The sanction was a subject of public comment, but everyone in the company welcomed the change.

Xiao Lan talked to Ning Youyou in whispers, “Youyou, I never thought that one day he’d be fired from the company. There’s an official announcement that the manager’s been derelict in his duties throughout his service in the company. Now he’s blacklisted by all other companies out there. Surely, no one will go against Zhou Feng’s announcement and employ him.”

Ning Youyou was shocked yet again.

“I heard something from my colleague in another department. The manager was so drunk after the ball that they had to carry him out from the venue. There was an urgent meeting the next morning, which he, unfortunately, did not attend. The board of directors began investigating his records and found faults in his duty, thus the sanction.”

It all happened too fast, which made the incident seem rather unbelievable. She listened to Xiao Lan with a dull look in her eyes. Was it truly just a coincidence that the manager was fired?

She was ready to submit her resignation but was distracted by all the hubbub. All of a sudden, an emergency meeting was called, so she decided to keep her resignation letter aside.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that you’ve already seen the announcement. BLOVE is a company with brilliant achievements and tremendous opportunities. Together, we’re confidently striding towards the future.”

The acting manager was the one who conducted the meeting to make a thorough explanation. He also announced that Mr. Zhao would be appointed as the next general manager of BLOVE.

“After careful considerations, the board of directors has agreed that Mr. Zhao from the Planning Department is the one we’re looking for to take the role of acting manager. He’s very experienced in both operations and leadership, so we’re pleased to welcome him on board.”

The announcement was received with deafening applause.

Later, Ning Youyou resumed her work, but she could hardly stay focused.

What happened at the ball had left her with an unforgotten trepidation. The sanction of the manager was what she had least expected. Apart from the resignation, she had no idea how to plan for her future.

“Hello, everyone. I’d like to thank you all for your support. I’ll be hosting a dinner tonight. I hope you’ll honor me with your presence.”

Mr. Zhao, who had just been appointed, came over to the office with an invitation.

“Oh, yes! Mr. Zhao, you’re the best!”

He accepted the compliment with a slight nod.

Xiao Lan moved closer to Ning Youyou as soon as he left. “Youyou, thank goodness! I’m so glad that Mr. Zhao is appointed as our general manager.”

Ning Youyou cracked a smile. Thinking back, she could not help but wonder if he was related to the big change that had happened in the office.

During their break, Ning Youyou was surrounded by her two best friends for a round of interrogations.

“Youyou, where were you during the ball? We couldn’t find you after the dance.”

“I wanted to let you dance with my partner, but you were nowhere to be seen.”

Ning Youyou answered with a wry smile of embarrassment. She did not want to talk about it anymore, so she simply made up an excuse by saying that she was not feeling well.
