We were in this together

When we sliced the heart

Of a roaring monstrosity

Listening to its last pounds

With the thunder above its reign

But when I dug the blade

Its metal stained with loss

Into the ċhėst of society

Shards of bright stones

Slipping under its edge

I didn't mean to pour

A crimson river

Over the blossomed time

We had together

I hadn't known

When the heart of the world

Stopped thumping with our footsteps

That you would dive with the flowers

As they spun down the cracks

Of a blemished world

While we scorched

the planet in flames

We burnt the bridge

That kept us together

We kept our hands on the keys

Not to be held by another

We wore our masks in shadows

Never to unveil our pasts

We tied our trust

Through pixels under dust

Keeping ourselves focused

Our breaths swathed

Our voices spoken

We did this for them

Not for us

I'm looking for your eyes

Under your tattered mask

Because if I don't find them now

I'll never see them again

When the tempests have passed

As I imprint the chants of war

To cycle in orbit around my head

When we watch the end together

the colors of your iris

painting the skies again

When the dawn melts the cinder

And our names flourish together

In memory of what we were

For now we rest

Defining what we feared

And carving our domain
