Paying The Price
Chapter 15 - Your Name Really Isn't On The List, You Should Put It.
Sarah and Fiona were almost close to the elevator when a voice called out to them. "Excuse me miss, am so sorry but your name isn't it the VIP list." Holding a file on her hands, Nikki ran towards them as she said in a loud voice for the other employees to hear.
The VIP list she mentioned contained names of people who didn't require an appointment. Sarah's name was absent cause Leon never bothered putting it on and despite that she still gained access to his office anyway.
Others in the building saw Nikki as courting death, no one wanted to be on Sarah's bad book they all wanted to keep their jobs, but now the clueless new receptionist is about to lose her job and most likely would be disgraced.
At the same moment the private elevator opened, stepping out was a man with blonde well styled hair wearing a black suit and a chrips white shirt together with a black tie that elaborated his elegant figure making him extremely sophisticating, his extremely handsome face had perfect features and his aura was firm and noble.
With his assistant, Leon walked slowly to the scene.
"Are you that stupid not to know that am too important to be on that list." Sarah gave Leon a glance indicating for him to speak up for her.
"More important than Mrs Daniel?" Nikki blinked her eyes innocently at the dumbfounded Sarah.
It was a massive blow.
Employees couldn't help but whisper. The new receptionist was really daring, she didn't only put Sarah on the spot but Leon was also involved. Although she had said their minds, she was too blunt and could pay dearly for it.
"Leon are you just gonna watch her say your mother isn't important to you?" Fiona spoke up as Sarah was still in daze.
"Yeah, this thing just insulted you! You should fire her and whoever hired her." Finally snapping back Sarah yelled.
Nikki looked innocently at Leon as he took the file from her, after scheming through he said. "Your name really isn't in the list, you should put it."
"What!!" Sarah exclaimed.
"Well if you don't like that then you should book an appointment." Leon added.
"Are you saying am not important to you?" Sarah's voice carried clear anger as she viciously looked at Nikki, her look were sharp enough to pierce through a person.
"No, am just saying my mother is more important."
Those plain words from Leon were shocking to all, this was the first time Leon went against Sarah in public causing the employees to scorn at her while looking at the new receptionist as a hero.
If the other employees had stood up for themselves tactfully as she did they probably wouldn't have lost their jobs.
Sarah was so agitated that she looked like she would explode any minute, she raised her hands to give Nikki a slap but Leon's cold voice stopped it at mid air "I wouldn't do that if I were you Sarah."
"You're taking sides with this b*tch! you'll see, you will regret it." She walked out with Fiona felling so embarrassed, as a pampered girl she couldn't stand ridicule and said no more.
'You just signed your death sentence, Nikki.' Her heart boiling with so much anger Sarah could kill Nikki at the instant.
.....
After watching her leave, employees prayed she would never show up again.
Leon gave Nikki a cold stare as she returned it with innocent sparkling eyes.
"My office now!" He said firmly to Nikki, as he turned back to the elevator with his speeachless assistant trailing behind. His coldness sent shivers to everyone's spines.
