Paying The Price

"It's... um.... I'm actually from the Black side."

With eyes wide opened in shock Diana asked "You mean Henry Black sent you to get me?"

'Was that a good thing? It should be a good thing, this grandpa could love her more than the other. Or does he have a motive for wanting her by his side. Does he want to sell off to that Chinese guy himself? Sh*t, what to do? what to do?'

Zach could see the panic in her eyes, God knows what she had already concluded in her mind. "No, it's not him, it's my dad. My dad sent me here." he tried to reassure her.

Diana shot him the 'How does that make me feel better' look.

"My dad and your dad were best friends. After the accident he fervently searched for you but to no prevail, just like the others. Later on, my dad had some issues with Wayne, so he stalked Wayne searching for his weakness to take him down. That was when he heard your name announced as Wayne's wife to be."

"Plans changed and you became his interest instead. He was glad he found you and tried everything he could to protect you from both sides. That's why all these things you see are here, they didn't pop over night. They were used to stalk Wayne and you. And my employees are actually my dads spies."

After his explanation, there was silence. Diana didn't see why she should trust her father's best friend and Zach could sense her doubt. If she couldn't trust her own grandfathers, what's a family friend and how good were his intentions?

"Get some sleep, there's a jet waiting to take us to Spain tomorrow." Zach informed her.

Spain?

"You need to learn how to defend yourself and what to do in order to stop this. You'll meet my dad there."

Still no response response came from Diana.

Zach placed the throw pillow well, then lay down on the couch "No matter what you think, I just want you to know, I got your back. We got your back." Zach said with a half smile.

Diana returned the smile, somehow she felt a bit at ease just hearing those words even if not completely "I guess your name isn't Zach Turner then."

"No. My name is a bit weird."

"I'm sure it wouldn't be the weirdest thing I have heard today."

Hesitating a little, Zach said "It's Brian Goodman."

"Okay, it's pretty much weird for a guy who's an assassin." Diana chuckled.

"I know right." Zach chuckled too.

With a heavy sigh, Diana lay next to her daughter. Although she couldn't sleep, she had to.

She needed the rest.

She closed her eyes as she gently brushed her daughter's hair with her hand. Even with this mysterious life of hers, her mind couldn't stop thinking about her little family, constituting of herself, Pearl and Nikki.

Diana wished for their safety and Wayne....

Diana fought with her thoughts and forced herself to sleep.
