Paying The Price
Chapter 56 - Where Are You?
The video showed Zach, Diana and Pearl leave the building a little disguised, looking like a happy family of three and at the same time two well suited men entered.
Leon saw that Zach noticed the men with his side view while Diana faced the ground knowing nothing. They entered a car with no plate number and left the area. Timothy connected to the cameras on the streets where they headed till they drove to a street without a camera. Surprisingly, when Timothy connected to the next camera they had disappeared, he checked another with the same result, he kept checking until there were no more to connect to.
This no doubt shows that Zach knew something and Diana must have gotten the hint by her cooperation. Leon had Timothy check the cameras around Diana's building at the time they left.
A camera facing Diana's window showed nothing. It must have been that some men must have gone through the window and had the intention of taking Diana and Pearl through it, but they clearly failed.
Another camera was checked, the one in Zach's building but no sign of Zach or Diana was seen, then Zach's store, though the street was seen, later with much observation did they find out that the footage was tempered with. A while later, it glitched then played the current scene.
Likely Zach must have made the camera show the same thing before they entered and let it play after.
Smart. Very smart. Leon knew for a fact that they wouldn't be there presently but he had Timothy go there to confirm his thoughts while he called a certain someone.
......
Ring.
Ring.
The sound of the ringing phone brought Wayne back to earth. He had decided to deeply inmerse himself in work to get him mind off things.
And well, it was working "What?" His cold, tired voice reached Leon's ears.
"Where are you?"
Leon was taken back by his answer "It's Sunday!" he proclaimed.
"What do you want?" he knew it was Sunday, Wayne didn't need someone to tell him it was. His words were like 'What do you want? I don't want to be in this world so don't disturb me if you don't have anything valuable to say.' But Wayne so cherished his words that he didn't want to waste it.
Leon rolled his eyes, his friend was really something. She's mad at you and you're committing suicide just for that "Diana and Pearl are in trouble."
"What?!" Wayne suddenly got up from his chair.
"Would you stop saying 'what'." Leon was agitated by Wayne's constant use of that word. "It seems like it was those guys who were after Pearl in New York. They're not at home, Zach...."
"Zach...?" Wayne flared up when he heard that name.
"Zach helped them out before those guys got to her home." Leon stopped Wayne from concluding things before continuing "I don't know if he's genuine cause we can't find them, any of them, Zach, Diana, Pearl, those guys. We have to do something and we have to do it quick. We'll try by first checking who tried to attack Diana."
Wayne was silent for a while before asking "Nikki?"
"She's in my house, she's the reason why I know about this. So I can't go home right now, I don't want to scare her. Now head to your house, I'm coming there." Then the call ended.
