Paying The Price

Chapter 64 - Does It Matter?

Diana really couldn't comprehend where Pearl got her traits from. She obviously wasn't this funny or jovial and Wayne was not even a little bit close. 'Maybe she got it from Nikki.' Diana thought, but this little sugar never ceased to amaze her.

"He really needs that, but I'm not sure it would ever happen." Diana remarked, she didn't mean to Wayne look bad but he had already displayed himself this way, so...

"I'm sure he would change one day."

Diana sighed at her daughter's innocence, the only words she could say was "Some dreams come true, some don't but dream on." She closed her eyes afterwards leaving Pearl confused.

"Is that what you told yourself when you were falling for him?" Pearl asked bluntly.

"..."

"Sugar, close your eyes and go to sleep."

"Hehe." The little one chuckled.

'Such an annoying daughter.' Diana thought 'This is definitely because of Nikki's bad influence.'

An hour later, Pearl's wish came true as unexpected visitors arrived.

Grey and Zach never in their wildest imagination thought Wayne would find them so soon. They have really underestimated him but they knew sooner or later they would have to give him an explanation for taking him wife and daughter away without his consent.

Nikki seemed to be the only one not emitting anything so she could only watch. On one side Brian, Grey and his men were calm and collected while Wayne and his group were furious and scary.

"Where are they?" As expected, Wayne's voice was extremely cold.

Before any answer could be given, a figure suddenly walked down the stairs. Although they made no sound during entry, Diana could feel that something was up, so she came down, following her instincts to find out what was wrong.

An indescribable joy overwhelmed her when she saw these visitors. She may not admit it but she felt happier when she saw Wayne and how serious he looked when he asked about her.

"Diana!" Nikki rushed to her. The two sisters embraced and were happy to be together and seeing each other unharmed.

"How did you get here?" Diana asked Nikki.

"Does it matter?"

"No. No it doesn't." Diana replied in a quiet tone then she hugged her sister again. After breaking free, she slowly walked towards the men and stopped in front of Wayne.

"Zach, can you show Nikki to my room please?" Zach immediately responded to Diana's request by showing Nikki the way. And Nikki quietly followed him up.

.......

Outside the garden, the breeze blew a little but the pyjamas prepared for her covered her quit well so she didn't feel cold.

Arriving at the water fountain, Diana stopped walking, she faced Wayne but couldn't look at his face and found nothing to say. A moment of silence passed away before Wayne took the initiative to speak first "Diana....."
