Paying The Price
Chapter 63 - I Wish Mr Was Here.
"Yay!" Pearl screamed in excitement but was hushed by her mother's glare.
"You're planning to teach my four year old daughter how to shoot a gun?" Diana looked at Grey with surprise. She could understand that in her case it would be useful for self defense but why the hell does Pearl need to be taught too.
While walking away, facing her with his back Grey replied "If she had grown up in our world she would have been good at it by now." He stopped for a while then turned to Diana "Just ask her dad."
Diana frowned a little, he could have said 'Just ask Brian' but why did he have to bring Wayne into it.
With the knowledge she had acquired, she now knew that Wayne isn't just a simple business man. He was never simple in anyway though.
She took a sip of her tea once more as she watched the excitement on her daughter's face.
Diana knew Pearl was familiar with a gun especially after that incident but why she excited instead of being afraid? Doesn't it bring bad memories to her mind.
Too bad for Diana. For she was seeing the disadvantage but Pearl saw the advantage.
'Gun means trouble, trouble means ending up in another Madam Alice arms, and that means sweets, chocolate and a whole lot of delicacies with plenty gifts.' So Pearl's little mind calculated, and these thoughts made her glad.
"But wait." Diana spoke to Grey who was now giving orders to one of his men. Grey sensed he was talking to her and gave her his attention "I thought you said Simeon would never hurt family. Why do I..... we need to know how to shoot a gun?" Of course Diana knew it was necessary for her now she was part of their world, she had only asked to know more about who she's dealing with.
Not what Diana was expecting to hear but his logic made sense. She felt a little bit nervous thinking about what lies ahead. She took a deep breath then continued with her tea.
That night.
Diana stood in front of a mirror as she dried her hair with a towel.
A certain sugar who was tucked in bed was supposed to be asleep suddenly said "I wish Mr was here."
Those words froze Diana for a minute "Why? I thought you don't like him." She said. Placing down the towel, she walked to the bed, lifted up the blanket and laid down before covering herself properly.
"Well I don't. But you got to hand it to the man. His pretty cool."
Diana laughed at her daughter's statement "Yeah he is." In hesitation she continued "And that's why people like me fell for him."
Pearl looked at her mother's sad expression.
This was the reason why she never asked about her father after the first two times, her mother never gave her a good answer but she stopped asking cause she didn't want her to be sad.
