Paying The Price

Grey expected her to the altar and curious, typical for someone who found out mysterious things about her family. "I'm a human. For power of course." Was his reply to her question.

Diana's lips twitched a little, she didn't think he'd be so plan and direct. She broke free from his gaze and took a sip of her tea.

"Don't let that leave a bad impression of me. I can't deny what I do."

She didn't raise up her head and had her lips buried in her tea.

Grey drank a little from his tea and looked up at the ceiling, then he turned to her and asked "Do you know why your parents died?"

That, no doubt, caught her attention.

She only knew it was because of love. Which was kinda of stupid for the new her.

Grey's eyes were fixed on her, waiting for her to give an answer. "Because they were in love." She said quietly, her cup up close to her mouth.

"Because they ran away." Grey took another sip of his tea. This was really surprising to her. Didn't they run away to stay alive? She was extremely confused.

"But Zach said he sent an assassin."

"Yes. We know that's what guy does, but we don't know if it was what he was sent to do. Simeon wanted to sell your mother off, that's undeniable, and he also wants to do the same to you. That's also true. But he would never intentionally harm you, unless you get hit by accident when! You were running away."

Diana blinked hard, she felt her eyes hurt, she had opened them wide as she payed constant attention to Grey.

"You see Diana, there's no where you can run to, no where to hide. Even if you're able to for a few years, you will be found and you'll be putting your life, your daughter in danger."

She leaned back on her chair, the room became silent for a while.

"So what's the plan now?" She asked.

Grey dropped his cup on the coffee table next to him "You would have to go to him. Face him and stop him."

"What?! You want me to run towards danger instead away from it?"

Grey nodded.

"So your dad said, but your mom knew better. She and I tried our best to convince him, he was just too hard headed."

Diana remained silent. Her father refused to listen and it cost their lives and changed hers.

"You have a great advantage Diana. Curry his flavor and use your position as Wayne's wife to make him leave you alone. That's what you have to do."

Just then Zach and Pearl walked in. Grey got up from his chair "You'll have to act quickly, but first, you must learn how to pull a trigger."

He stopped in his tracks, glanced at Pearl and Diana who were now together, then said "Both of you."
