Evelyn peeked through the crack in the door and, after getting a good look, immediately yanked open the iron bolt and whispered, "Quick! Now!"

The group rushed out of the back door with supplies, and the five zombies that had escaped from the net pounced on them around the corner.

Kyle, clutching a fire axe, charged ahead and cleaved the skull of the first one in the air with a single blow. Ron smashed the second one down with a riot baton, and Jimmy, his eyes red, gripped his spear tightly and plunged it fiercely into the eye socket of the third one.

In just one minute, he dealt with all the zombies blocking his way, his trouser legs splattered with black blood.

"Hurry up!" Buck urged, grabbing two sacks full of cans and rushing forward.

Jimmy and Joe pushed a cart full of water and rice, while the others carried heavy supply bags on their backs.

There were few zombies this time, so the group returned much faster than they came, and soon arrived at the overturned semi-trailer.

Two lone zombies darted out from the road, but Evelyn and Lisa took them down in a flash, without wasting even half a minute.

About ten minutes later, the group of people, panting heavily, climbed onto the high bed of the semi-trailer and had already hauled all the supplies up.

The relaxation following the adrenaline rush quickly left everyone slumped against the cement truck, panting heavily.

Buck unwrapped the blood-stained bandage and re-bandaged it, glancing up at the swarm of zombies that had reappeared on the roadside.

"Damn it, I don't even know how long these supplies will last us."

Ron stood up, leaning on the partition. "Let's talk about the future later. Otherwise, we can continue to use Molotov cocktails to clean up the rest of the area."

"Let's rest for two more minutes, then we'll carry all this upstairs. Tommy and a few elderly people are still waiting..."

"Besides... there are more than just us living in this community. Be careful not to get robbed by them later."

"Hmph, they're all a bunch of spineless cowards!"

If they dare to reach out, I'll chop their hands off!

However, it's easy to say, but while those neighbors who dared not face the zombies were afraid, they still dared to point guns at the group of people returning when faced with hunger.

Chapter 239 Zombie World 3

At the corner above the stairs, five or six figures, clutching weapons, blocked the seven people's way.

Before the cataclysm, Derek, the leader, was a street thug. He didn't dare to deal with the zombies outside, but he dared to point a gun at seven flesh-and-blood people.

"Hand over half of what you have, or you'll have to take another route!"

They had been lying in ambush here ever since Evelyn and her group went out to find supplies.

The staircase was barely wide enough for two people to squeeze through sideways, and Evelyn and her group, carrying goods, couldn't move around freely.

But even with guns pointed at them like that, it doesn't mean they're afraid.

"Hmph, a bunch of trash, too scared to go out, yet they try to rob us." Buck gripped his fire axe and walked to the front of the group.

"Stop talking nonsense!"

We only want half the supplies, are you going to give them to us or not?

"I'll give it to you!" Before Buck could finish speaking, he swung the axe down with a fierce blow.

They have no advantage in narrow stairwells, but that doesn't mean the other side does.

Seeing that Buck was really going to swing the axe at him, Derek panicked and pulled the trigger. With a "bang," the bullet grazed Buck's shoulder and went in, and blood instantly stained half of his sleeve.

Buck groaned in pain, but still gritted his teeth and lunged forward, clenching his axe into Derek's leg. The two instantly began to wrestle.

The stairwell was too small, so screams, curses, and the sounds of metal clashing were all mixed together, and blood dripped down the cracks in the concrete steps.

Derek and his gang were already starving, and they only dared to block the way because they had the first move with their guns. If it really came down to a fight, how could they compare to Evelyn and her group who had just rolled out of a pile of corpses?

Buck, despite being shot, did not retreat. Using the momentum, he slammed Derek against the wall at the corner of the stairs, pressing the axe blade down another half inch. Derek screamed in pain, and the revolver in his hand clattered into the crack of the steps.

Despite being stabbed in the lower back, Ron used his years of experience as a security guard to take advantage of the narrow terrain and throw the thug who was charging at the front of the stairs, sending him tumbling down half a flight of stairs and hitting his head on a concrete edge, knocking him unconscious on the spot.

With blood streaming down his forehead, obscuring half of his eye, Jimmy unleashed a flurry of punches at the men who were stealing supplies.

He was almost bitten by a zombie and even caused the death of one of his brothers. Since someone was letting him vent his anger, there was no reason for him to let it go.

Even with women on the side, a 7v5 situation is still too much for these starving people to handle.

Within minutes, Derek and his gang, who were screaming in pain from the beating, couldn't take it anymore and started begging for mercy.

"Humph!"

Seeing the five people lying on the ground barely alive, Buck snorted coldly, and while helping each other up, he took the supplies upstairs.

Meanwhile, on the main road outside.

The pickup truck's headlights pierced through the evening's lingering smoke and came to a steady stop a hundred meters from the gate of the Oak Valley residential complex.

Several kilometers away, Lu Qianwei sensed that a large group of zombies had gathered here, attracted by the firelight and the gunshots earlier, densely blocking the entrance that was already mostly blocked by the semi-trailer truck.

Looking at the large horde of zombies outside, Jack, in the passenger seat, gripped the pistol he had just picked up from the weapons shop, his knuckles turning white from the pressure.

He swallowed hard, staring at the swarm of dark figures waving their arms ahead: "Boss, there must be two or three hundred of them, right?"

Shall we just charge straight through like this?

"What's good or bad about it? Those headlights are so obvious... Look, they've already passed them!"

Before Lu Qianwei could finish speaking, more than a dozen zombies had already crashed into the front of the car, startling Jack.

"Boss, let's back the car up right now, or we'll be stuck!"

Lu Qianwei glanced at the distribution of the horde of corpses. "They can't escape anywhere. We'll have to clear them out to get people out of here."

"You stay in the car and lock the doors. I'll be right back."

Before Jack could answer, Lu Qianwei had already pushed open the door and gotten out of the car. Two cold glints of light shot out from the scabbards as he walked towards the horde of corpses.

The first three zombies to pounce had barely taken a step when black blood gushed from their necks. Their three heads rolled and crashed into the roadside bushes, their bodies swaying before collapsing to the ground with a thud.

Without stopping, he swept aside the zombies that lunged at him with a horizontal slash of his left hand, while his right hand plunged the knife straight into his eye socket, cleanly and decisively disappearing without a hilt.

A dozen or so zombies circled around behind him, trying to ambush him. Lu Qianwei didn't even turn his head. He just slightly moved his mind, and the heads of the dozen or so zombies were already cut off by space.

Even without using his special abilities, few zombies could get close to him due to his powerful physique.

With each flash of the blade, several zombies fell to the ground, while the rest just lunged forward like madmen, completely unaware of how they died.

In just twenty minutes, the more than one hundred zombies blocking the main road were all lying on the ground in disarray.

Lu Qianwei flicked the blood off his blades, sheathed them back in their sheaths, and slowly walked back to the pickup truck.

Jack was already pressed against the car window, looking at him with admiration. "Boss, you're amazing!"

You're an Awakened One, aren't you?!

So zombies really can awaken in the apocalypse!

"Haha, you should read less of these kinds of novels. Where is there any evolution in them?" Lu Qianwei shook his head with a laugh, without offering any explanation.

Pointing to the semi-trailer truck blocking the entrance to the residential area, he said, "So that's where we're going, right?"

Jack carefully examined the surroundings. "That's right, it's over there."

Hey, they're pretty lucky; a big truck blocked their way in.

"That's not necessarily a good thing. Who knows if you guys have those things? You'd better be careful in the future."

Lu Qianwei gave a word of advice and then parked the car on the side of the road.

The two climbed over the semi-trailer truck bed into the residential area and went up to Evelyn's apartment building according to the address Flink had given them.

Accompanied by a "knock knock knock" sound on the door,

A full half minute passed before a low, wary female voice came from inside the door: "Who is it?"

Evelyn pressed herself against the door, only daring to squint and peek out through the peephole.

She had been ambushed in the stairwell just half an hour earlier, so she dared not be careless.

“We have been sent by your father, Flint, to take you to the shelter.”

Jack pulled out her father's identification through the peephole: "This is your father's ID. You can take a look."

As he spoke, he slipped the ID card he was holding into the gap under the door.

Evelyn bent down to pick it up and looked at it. The photo on the laminated card was indeed her father, and there was the official seal of his former workplace in the lower right corner. There was no mistake.

"Were you really sent by my dad to pick me up?"

"Of course, girls, please don't question our profession!"

Recalling his boss's formidable prowess, Jack became increasingly confident as he spoke.

Looking at her father's ID card and then at the two people outside, Evelyn bit her lip before unlocking the security chain.

However, out of caution, she only opened a slit about half a foot wide, holding the gun horizontally in front of her: "I am Evelyn."

My father...how is he now?"

“Of course he’s fine, otherwise he wouldn’t have asked us to bring you over, right?” Lu Qianwei took a step back, indicating that he meant no harm.

"Alright, ma'am, I hope you can pack your things while we deal with the zombies outside."

Our car is parked outside the residential area right now.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn turned to look at her son peeking out of the bedroom door, but ultimately shook her head: "I'm sorry, you two, I can't leave with you now."

She said it very firmly, "It's too dark."

As you probably know, there's no order in this world now. I don't feel comfortable letting you in, since it's just my son and me.

I have a responsibility to my son.

Just as Jack was about to speak in rebuttal, Lu Qianwei stopped him, nodding, "We can understand that."

Evelyn didn't want things to get too tense, so she gave them a specific time: "We'll set off tomorrow morning."

"it is good!"

"By the way, what kind of shelter are you talking about?"

“Of course, it’s a place with food, weapons, water, and a safe environment,” Jack replied impatiently.

"Could I take some people who are willing to leave with me?"

"Huh? Our car can only seat three more people at most, how could we possibly bring anyone else?" Jack was speechless.
