Komi blinked. He could no longer see the book in his hands, nor the strangely eerie throne. He found himself in a large pit, his hands small and delicate like those of an infant.
"What on earth happened..." Koji was confused about the current situation. He tried to connect to the pure white room, but found that the room, which was not blocked even under Khorne's gaze, could not respond to his calls.
A rustling sound came from all around. Komi looked around and saw a group of creatures with human heads but looking like stick insects surrounding him. They had detached a piece of their arm and were aiming at the bewildered Komi with glandular organs that seemed to be spitting out acid.
Chapter 485: Primarch Chronicles: Lord of Genes 1
not good!
Koji was startled. He didn't know where he was or what those things were, but he knew he couldn't just stand there and wait to die.
Let's get moving!
Komi roared inwardly!
But the small body did not react at all. Koken thought it was another case of soul possession. Then he saw the soft little hand reach out, and a mist wafted out from the translucent skin that revealed the subcutaneous tissue.
The stick insect-like deformities were bewildered by the mist; their noses extended pale yellow tentacles, as if they were trying to capture the scents in the air.
After sniffing for a long time, these stick insects strode away into the distance.
The baby stood up against Koji's will, which made Koji realize that he had not transmigrated, but had only entered the original body's memories and become an observer of his life.
Well... this is much faster than reading books.
Komi silently accepted this fact, and then the second Primarch named Shiro Yuheng began his wilderness survival journey.
Primarchs were born in Terra's laboratory and were subsequently scattered to various corners of the galaxy by warp currents. The Great Crusade aimed to collect materials to build the Web and to find the lost Primarchs.
Each Primarch lands in a slightly different place. Lemanrus the Wolf King arrived in Fenris, a land of ice and snow, and became the Wolf King of Fenris in the icy plains.
Ryan landed in Caliban, a world with feudal knightly orders and a dark forest. He spent his childhood in the forest, killing countless wild beasts in order to survive.
Angron was prophesied by the Eldar as the Destroyer. He was ambushed by the Eldar as soon as he landed. As a child, he slaughtered the Eldar, but this left him weak and powerless when facing the slave owners of the planet. In the end, he was branded with the Butcher's Nail, which would affect his entire life.
Of all the Primarchs, Koji believed that Koz was in the most difficult and miserable situation. He landed in Nostramore, a Super Gotham City where everyone was a criminal. His morals were affected by the harsh environment, and his mind was tormented by his prophetic talents, ultimately making him the most insane and pathetic Primarch.
Gu Jian didn't know the nature of the world Bai Yuheng had landed in, but as he saw what the Primarch saw and sensed what the Primarch felt, he suddenly realized that this world was no less insane than Nostramore.
Bai Yuheng left the large pit and explored the world with confusion and bewilderment. This was impossible for an infant, but he was a superhuman Primarch.
Primarchs are products of genetic engineering. They are born with a wealth of knowledge that ensures their survival, and may even develop prematurely due to environmental dangers.
Take Guilliman as an example. He was adopted by an aristocratic family, had both parents, and had a happy childhood. His development was slower than his brothers who were in difficult circumstances, but he also developed a more mature and stable mind as he grew up.
If Bai Yuheng cannot find human communication, Gu Jian thinks he will become a silent person with a closed heart.
Fortunately, Bai Yuheng was lucky. He walked through the wilderness and found a gathering place by following the rising smoke from the chimneys.
He was clearly terrified by the deformities of the stick insects, and he observed the gathering place from a distance, hoping to see something similar to himself.
Primarchs instinctively abhor inhuman beings. Even though Mortalian was taken in by his alien foster father as soon as he landed, he never felt any affection for aliens. Instead, he felt deep sympathy and pity for the poor and weak people under the warlord's fortress.
Although Mortalian eventually became a poop superman... at least he once wanted to be a good person.
There are only about twenty houses in the settlement, so it can be inferred that the population of the entire settlement is no more than one hundred people.
The building material puzzled Komi, because it wasn't made of bricks, a mixture of wood, stone, mud, and straw, but rather a treated leather.
These dehydrated and greased hides were nailed to bones to form a makeshift tent.
There were holes in the top that served as windows and doors, and curtains woven from many thin intestines hung on them. Combined with the dried bloodstains on the ground of the settlement, this place was practically a den of cannibals!
While Bai Yuheng was observing, a hunting party also returned to their gathering place before sunset. Their clothes were made from the fur of their prey, their weapons were pale bones, and their armor was a tough leather armor sewn together and fixed with bones.
Their prey was a deformed stick insect that Komi had just seen. The deformed insect, with two forelegs and four hind legs and a body more than three meters long, was disassembled into sections and carried back by the hunters, just like some sausages that had already been processed.
When the hunters returned from hunting, the natives who were guarding the settlement came out to greet them and prepare food to fill their stomachs.
Their method of starting a fire was also unique: a deformed skull, about the size of a ball, with all its limbs degenerated and only a head remaining, was removed.
This deformed creature was quite resilient. After consuming a piece of raw meat cut off by a bone knife, it swelled up like a pufferfish. A strange reaction occurred inside it, with flashes of light appearing and disappearing. Finally, it exhaled a wisp of scalding flame with its breath.
All tools are specialized evolved beings, a fact that Komi and Shirogane share the same strong sense of surprise and curiosity about.
Finally, as evening fell and the residents of the settlement were enjoying their half-cooked food, Bai Yuheng approached the edge of the settlement.
It was obvious that Bai Yuheng's perfectly normal humanoid body startled them, but then his overly fair skin aroused their strong appetite. The flesh under the deformed skin of the stick insect was pale white and had an unpleasant fishy smell even when roasted.
The natives surrounded Bai Yuheng, drawing their bone weapons. Their sunken eye sockets, worn deep by years of hunger, looked even more terrifying in the flickering firelight.
"Meat...fresh meat!"
They spoke in hushed tones, as if they were afraid of disturbing Bai Yuheng's escape.
Bai Yuheng realized he could no longer communicate peacefully with these guys; he had no weapons, no armor, only a chubby fist at his disposal.
Then Komi witnessed a massacre, as the baby leaped and ripped the throats off those who tried to chop up his stew.
After dozens of people were easily killed by the Primarch, the remaining people realized that they were no match for the Primarch. They tried to escape but their ankles were shattered by bone fragments thrown by Bai Yuheng.
"I...want...to...talk...to...you..."
Bai Yuheng spoke slowly and deliberately. He had deduced the general nature of their writing system from just a few words exchanged between them. This learning ability was something that would make even the sages of the Mechanical Cult feel ashamed.
They stopped fleeing and, trembling with fear, returned to Bai Yuheng's side, knelt down, and swore their loyalty to him.
Chapter 486: Primarch Chronicles: Lord of Genes 2
Bai Yuheng seized control of a settlement through violence, converting the largest leather tent into his own room and using everything at his disposal to satisfy his needs.
In the following years, he sheltered the settlement and had the natives collect materials for him.
Each Primarch has its own innate strengths. Magnus is adept at studying psionic energy, Vulcan is skilled at forging iron, and this Bai Yuheng created his own laboratory using bones, muscles, and organs.
A strange smell permeated the place. Several heart pumps, designed to keep the research equipment alive, were placed at the entrance, their continuous beating sustained by Bai Yuheng periodically filling them with a pile of raw meat.
Bai Yuheng liked the heart very much because it would continue to function stably even if it was no longer under the control of the brain.
"Seven hundred and sixty-second dissection: Subject of study, human-headed fly." Bai Yuheng wrote on the parchment with a bone pen dipped in some viscous blood. On his operating table lay a deformed creature with its upper body human and lower body the fat tail of a fly, its abdomen ripped open.
Although the creature was completely dead, it still instinctively expelled several white eggs the size of chicken eggs from its tail.
Bai Yuheng glanced at it, then took his bio-lamp, which was filled with a kind of self-illuminating spherical gland. The ambush beasts in the foul-smelling swamp liked to use the light to attract the attention of their prey.
The light illuminated the soft membrane of the egg, and the larvae inside swam in the sudden brightness.
"Uh... what tenacious life." Bai Yuheng had seen things even more disgusting than this. He just sighed and then put all the eggs in a hard leather basket and sent them out.
Cheers erupted outside; those protected by Bai Yuheng regarded the eggs as precious nutritional supplements.
Bai Yuheng nailed the main organs of the human-headed fly to the exhibition bone plate, comparing these objects with the organs of another deformed body that had a slightly human-like shape.
"They look so alike..."
Bai Yuheng sighed. He had used many studies to prove a terrible fact: all the creatures he found in this wilderness could be considered a variant of humans.
The stick insect deformities I encountered in my childhood, the human-headed fly lying on the operating table, the bizarre raw materials used to create these lab instruments made of flesh and blood... they are all human...
So what caused this? Was it because someone deliberately did it in the wilderness?
Bai Yuheng believed he could only find the answer on the edge of the wilderness. Although it lacked minerals such as metals, it was thriving with life. The sun overhead, the soil beneath his feet, and the mutated creatures together created an ecosystem that continued to evolve.
Beyond the wilderness lies a more lush world, but that world is occupied by creatures whose distortions have become even more severe.
A conquest began. The warriors trained by Bai Yuheng were more efficient than those deformed people who relied on wild and brute force to fight. Thousands of deformed people died under the neat array of spears.
But as the legion advanced deeper, discipline and order were no longer enough to defeat those formidable enemies.
The wilderness was barren, and the degree of biological mutation was relatively shallow, allowing Bai Yuheng to see at least some human characteristics.
The outside world was more abundant, and the degree of biological mutation was deeper. Bai Yuheng's legion saw a forest, but when they got closer, they found that it was nothing more than deformed humans who had evolved their feet into roots to anchor themselves in the soil and absorb nutrients. Their skin had evolved into a black carapace that locked in moisture.
In order to reduce casualties and speed up the conquest, Bai Yuheng attempted to perform genetic surgery on the legion to give them higher muscle density and self-healing abilities.
Seeing Bai Yuheng's actions reminded Gu Jian of himself, but his research on craft brewing was not as professional as Bai Yuheng's. He was only adjusting the proportions and mixing of various blood types, not using his overly skillful hands to adjust the genetic structure.
War after war, surgery after surgery.
Gradually, the soldiers commanded by Bai Yuheng became more and more like the Space Marines who had no armor to wear, and even had several surgeries that the Space Marines did not have, such as their green skin, which reduced their need for food by absorbing the heat of the sun.
The Primarch spent twenty years conquering this land, and the minerals he collected along the way weren't even enough to build a Leman Rustank.
Helpless, he could only use his bones and flesh to create factories that could produce automatically to meet his needs, and use his brain, which had been cut from the skin, to control the production rhythm of the factories.
The final battle took place at the planet's equator, and Bai Yuheng now commanded 120,000 genetically engineered warriors.
His enemy transformed into a living mountain, from which countless mutated humans were devoured, their limbs and flesh mingling to create a vibrant, colorful tapestry.
Bai Yuheng led his most elite gene warriors forward, tirelessly digging into the flesh of the mountain and fighting against the parasites in the mountain that were large enough to swallow them whole.
The battle lasted for three months, during which 100,000 of the 120,000 genetic warriors perished in the living mountain. Their sacrifice and struggle finally allowed Bai Yuheng to reach the core of the living mountain.
He injected the genetic virus he had prepared into that enormous heart. These toxins flowed throughout Huoshan's body with the heart's pumping action, and his howl that shook the clouds resounded for seven days and six nights before finally ceasing.
Seven days and six nights...what an interesting time!
The night that Huoshan breathed his last was Bai Yuheng's victory celebration.
He promised all those loyal to him that a new era of peace would come, all the horrific aberrations would be cured, and the dark age when cannibalism was considered acceptable would become history!
As the seventh night drew to a close, Bai Yuheng sensed a terrifying, ancient power emanating from the depths of Living Mountain. The corpse of Living Mountain decayed and disintegrated at an unimaginable speed, turning into a thick, green stench that rose into the sky.
Soon the entire planet was shrouded in this foul-smelling, thick green smoke, and a torrential downpour began to fall as Bai Yuheng watched in bewilderment and shock.
Each drop of rain was a small piece of fresh meat. At first, people regarded this as a miracle caused by the Primal, and they used bowls to catch the meat, thanking him for keeping the world free from hunger.
The flesh on the planet's surface is increasing, averaging over seven meters thick! A blessing is turning into a terrible catastrophe! Roads are buried, factories are crushed!
In the cold, high-latitude regions, the situation is alright, but in the scorching equator, the fresh meat piled up below rots early, and the foul-smelling juices roll upwards, contaminating the freshness of other meats.
When the average thickness of the surface flesh reached 14 meters, the entire planet was filled with putrid liquid. Even warriors whose genes had been personally modified by Bai Yuheng could not survive for long in this corrupt environment, and one settlement after another was destroyed.
In a desperate situation, Bai Yuheng built many ships that sailed in the swamp of decay, carrying the last living creatures on the planet. They had to constantly scoop the fallen flesh out of the ships and fight against the maggots born from the decay.
Bai Yuheng used all his talents but could not reverse the desperate situation. He could not figure out the source of the fresh meat, nor could he solve the zombie plague spreading among the survivors.
Finally, a golden light descended from the sky, piercing through the thick green clouds and stopping the seven-month-long rain of flesh.
Bai Yuheng walked towards the golden light and met the emperor who was searching for him.
The two looked at each other in silence. After a long while, the emperor finally spoke slowly to Bai Yuheng.
