Warhammer: Empire Reboot

"Life on the dark side of the Empire is getting increasingly difficult. If things get really bad, I'll have to consider going to the Holy Side of the Empire."
"Guilliman is much safer than Lawson!"
He pulled a stack of data boards from the drawer of his workbench.
Each data board records the waste injection test reports for different batches.
Experiment subjects: various rogue Space Marines who defected to Bayer, including members of the Brass Dragons Chapter.
Bayer diluted and mixed the incompletely filtered waste and injected it into the bodies of these traitorous Astartes.
The effects of subspace corrosive substances are unpredictable.
It may increase muscle density, improve bone density, or even allow the recipient to grow a third arm or a fourth kidney.
Some of the brass dragon warriors were transformed into incredibly strong and extremely resilient mutant monsters after the injection. Their height increased to over three meters, their power armor was ripped apart, and their exposed muscle tissue turned an unnatural dark purple, with extra bone spurs growing at their joints.
The wound healing speed increased more than three times, at the cost of a rapid decline in sanity. Most people degenerated into howling and biting beasts within seventy-two hours of the injection.
Bayer flipped through the lab report and shook his head.
"It's just recycling waste. They're all consumables anyway. After they die, their gene seeds can be recycled and reused."
He threw the data panel back into the drawer.
"The genetic stability of these mutants is less than 10 percent of that of my first sample of New Humans. Their strength has increased fourfold, but their sanity has degenerated by 90%. This exchange is even worse than the original Thunder Warrior from the Emperor ten thousand years ago. At least the old man's Thunder Warrior could understand commands."
The filtration system is still running.
Approximately 300 liters of biomass emerge from the Plague Corner every hour. After undergoing a seven-layer filtration and three-stage centrifugation process designed by Bayer, about 12% of it can be converted into pure stem cell culture medium, while the remaining 88% is subspace waste that needs to be processed.
Bayer was not satisfied with this conversion rate.
"It's too low, but we can't let our spirit go to waste."
He stood in front of the device, his hands in his robe pockets, staring at the data panel of the filtration system.
"The problem lies in the fourth filter membrane. The corrosion of dirt is not a single chemical substance; it is a multi-dimensional, self-adaptive pollution system. If you use Solution A to filter out 90% of the subspace impurities, it will recode its molecular structure in the remaining 10%, causing the next filtration to fail."
"It seems to be evolving."
Bayer's talking to himself became faster and faster.
"Nurgle's corruption is essentially a subspace ecosystem with primitive learning capabilities. Every time it is filtered, it remembers the filtration conditions and then produces resistant variants in the next round of proliferation. This is why the plague of Nurgle can never be eradicated."
He suddenly stopped in his tracks: "Evolutionary algorithm."
He repeated it, seemingly having found a new approach.
"That's the key point: I've been using a static filtering approach to deal with a dynamically evolving system. I was wrong; my methodology was flawed!"
He strode to the workbench and began writing rapidly on a data board.
"The filtration system also needs to evolve. After each round of filtration, we analyze the changes in the molecular structure of the subspace impurities remaining in the waste, and then automatically adjust the chemical composition and pore size parameters of the filter membrane for the next round. Let the filtration system and the corrosion of the dirt engage in an arms race. It evolves, and I evolve; it mutates, and I mutate accordingly. As long as my iteration speed is even one percent faster than itss, the long-term winning rate will be mine."
"I'm such a genius!"
"Yes, that's great!"
He wrote for about three minutes, then held up the data board to the light and looked at it.
"Theoretically feasible, but in practice..."
He glanced around at the rudimentary equipment.
"In engineering terms, we need a real-time genome analyzer and at least 500 parallel biochemical simulators to support the iteration speed, but I only have 37 here. That's not enough."
He tucked the data tablet under his arm.
"If it's not enough, it's not enough. Let's run a prototype with 37 machines first to verify if the methodology works. If it does, then we'll figure out how to get more equipment. It's still more efficient than dealing with these idiots."
He glanced at the two New Human guards standing in the corner in the distance.
"You two."
Bayer gestured with his chin toward the guard.
"Go to the culture room in Zone C and bring over the third batch of new human samples."
The two guards turned and left silently.
While waiting for the samples to arrive, Bayer continued to review the core unit's operating logs.
The output over the past 48 hours is approximately 860 liters of pure stem cell culture medium.
According to the standard culture parameters for new humans, 860 liters of culture medium can support approximately 4,000 new human embryos from fertilization to maturity.
Four thousand people every two days.
If the conversion rate can be increased from 12% to 30%...
Ten thousand new humans every two days.
1.8 million per year.
Eighteen million in ten years.
Eighteen million new humans possess superhuman physical abilities, are naturally resistant to the corruption of chaos, and can reproduce naturally.
This is a great new race.
Bayer never builds armies; that's not something scientists do.
Only emperors build armies.
What Bayer wanted to do was greater than what the emperor did; he wanted to create a species.
A new species capable of replacing current humans and surviving in this crazy universe filled with demons and aliens.
He walked to a workbench in the corner of the hall and turned on a personal data terminal.
The terminal screen displayed a Milky Way star map, marked with more than seventy points of light scattered in different locations, representing his new human tribe.
Tens of millions of new humans have already multiplied and thrived in those wasteland worlds forgotten by the Empire.
The first generation was a sample he personally modified, while the second and third generations were offspring produced through natural reproduction.
Reproductive data show that the genetic stability of the new human population did not show a significant decline during natural reproduction.
This is one of Bayer's proudest achievements.
"The emperor has taken the wrong route."
"He gambled the future of humanity on a group of infertile war machines. Ten thousand years later, the total number of his Space Marines has dropped from several million to less than one million. This is the ultimate flaw of the Emperor Project: it cannot counteract the increase of entropy."
He turned and looked at the plague-laden horn.
"My new humans can reproduce naturally, and their population will grow exponentially. In a thousand years, the number of new humans will exceed the current total population of the empire. At that time, what will the Emperor's empire be? Just a bunch of outdated buildings and a few codes that no one reads."
He picked up the syringe-like gene sampling gun and aimed the muzzle at the pale gold culture medium container.
"The prerequisite is that I need enough culture medium."
He took a sample tube.
"And this corner is the perpetual motion machine of the culture medium."
He held up the vial of pale golden liquid and examined it against the light shining from the ceiling of the hall.
“Ten thousand years have passed. From the chief apothecary of the Sons of the Emperor to a wanted criminal across the galaxy, the Inquisition has killed me seven times, Abaddon has used me, Caul has ignored me, and Guilliman has put me on the wanted list.”
He inserted the sample into the analyzer's slot.
"Nobody understands me..."
"I'm not going against the Empire; I'm just doing the work that the Emperor didn't finish."
"However, I don't care about the understanding of those fools! So what if they hunt me down? In this world, no one can truly kill me. I only need two thousand years, and this species will spread to every corner of the galaxy."
"By then, the Emperor, Guilliman, Abaddon, and the Chaos Gods will all be irrelevant."
"I am the only creator of this world!"
"An existence greater than God!"
He shut down the analyzer and began preparing for the upcoming gene stability verification experiment.
The communication panel in the lobby lit up at that moment.
"Creator, the outer monitoring station has detected a subspace jump signal, approximately two astronomical units from this planet..."
"The fleet is a large formation, and its warp waves carry a high concentration of filthy corruption. The flagship's energy signal matches the known characteristics of the Death Guard Legion by more than 90 percent."

Chapter 252 Kill Bayer, Imprison Motarian!
The data from the peripheral monitoring stations were quickly confirmed.
Bayer was annoyed by the fleet energy signal analysis report on the screen; wasn't this disrupting his experiment?
A subtle sense of unease welled up inside me.
In particular, intelligence indicates that Mortarion himself is on the flagship.
This time, the Primarch himself was leading the team.
"It's just a stolen artifact, is it really necessary to make such a big fuss!"
Byr grumbled in dissatisfaction, "Is it really necessary to have a Primarch relentlessly hunt you down? Mortarion, is your time so worthless?"
Despite his displeasure, Bayer knew perfectly well why Mortarian was relentlessly pursuing him.
The Plague Gardens Horn is no ordinary Chaos artifact; it is one of the core artifacts of Nurgle and a key component of the entire Plague Gardens ecosystem.
After it was stolen, it is estimated that Nargul's efficiency in deploying new plagues in the material universe decreased by about 15%.
It would be strange if Mortarian didn't come in person.
Bayer turned to the tactical screen and sighed: "Prepare to evacuate. Save all experimental data, take everything you can, we can't stay here any longer."
"In addition, all the Brass Dragon variants have been deployed to the surface, and all Newtype combat units have been deployed on both sides of the evacuation route to delay for as long as possible."
Shortly after the order was given, battle broke out on the surface of GX-4107.
The Death Guard's vanguard dropped landing pods from orbit.
