The dark green metal hull crashed onto the alkaline desert, and the corrupted Space Marines marched out in formation.

They were greeted by what Bayer considered useless experimental subjects.

More than two hundred brass dragon mutants poured out of the underground facility's exit.

These things that were once Space Marines are now unrecognizable.

Standing over three meters tall, fragments of his bursting power armor still clung to his bulging purple muscles, and his joints were covered in bone spurs.

Ferocious, violent, bloodthirsty, tearing apart any enemy it sees!

The mutants roared as they charged toward the Death Guard's lines, and the two sides clashed in the desert.

The mutants are certainly very strong; their strength and durability, after Bayer's waste injection, have reached levels far exceeding those of the standard Astartes.

A mutant tore open a Plague Warrior's breastplate with his bare hands, reached inside, and shredded the organs inside.

With a splattering sound, blood and flesh flew everywhere as the mutant gnawed at the rotting organs, more ferocious than any wild beast.

Another mutant had its left arm severed by the Death Guard's Plague Blade. Dark purple blood spurted from the severed limb. It howled excitedly and used its remaining right hand to twist the attacker's helmet and head off together.

However, the variants do not cooperate.

In some ways, they are a pack of mad dogs on stimulants.

The Death Guard, after all, is a professional legion that has survived thousands of years of war.

After withstanding the initial onslaught, the Plague Warriors quickly adjusted their formation and adapted to the rhythm.

Heavy firepower units retreat, melee units form ranks, and the Rot Aura of Blessed Necromancer weakens the mutants' regeneration ability.

The mutants began to experience tissue necrosis within the rotting aura and soon could not withstand it.

Bayer watched the battle turn around on the monitor screen of the underground command terminal.

He estimated how long the mutant could hold out.

He sighed again: "It seems that the third batch of the waste material formula has indeed improved the density of muscle fibers, but unfortunately the problem of nerve degeneration has not been solved. Look at that idiot, he could have gone around from the side, but he insisted on going head-on. Brainless piece of trash."

He noted on the data board: "Third batch of waste injection: muscle fiber density +40%, regeneration rate +25%, no improvement in nerve degeneration rate. Conclusion: Waste is still waste, just more robust waste."

Just as Bayer was about to urge the evacuees to speed up, the alarm at the monitoring station sounded again.

A new subspace transition signal.

This jump point is less than one astronomical unit away from GX-4107.

The warp precision is extremely high, and the fleet size is not large.

But the characteristics of the energy signal caused a subtle change in Bayer's expression.

The exclusive warship of the Terran Guard.

Bayer stared at the screen, recognized the other person, and suddenly laughed.

"It's really lively today."

He tucked the data tablet under his arm and put his hands in his robe pockets: "Nurgle's demonic principality came in through the front door, and Terra's royal guards came in through the back door. Both groups are here to kill me. When was the last time I enjoyed this kind of spectacle?"

Intercepted communications revealed that the fleet commander was a shield guard company commander whose number matched a recent intelligence report in the Imperial wanted system.

After wiping out the entire Brass Dragonflight in Kassedur, Tevar tracked the remnants of the Brass Dragonflight all the way here.

Bayer shook his head, clearly not fond of the Imperial Guard: "A bunch of the Emperor's dogs, no, calling them dogs is not accurate. Dogs at least have emotions. The Imperial Guard is the Emperor's scalpel, cutting off everything they deem unclean, regardless of whether that tissue still has function."

Bayer looked at the deployment map showing the two fleets simultaneously deploying on both sides of the planet.

Mortalian's Death Guards have landed in the Northern Hemisphere and are crushing the mutants' defenses, advancing towards the underground facilities.

The Tawar Imperial Fleet approached from the Southern Hemisphere, and the landing craft had begun to penetrate the atmosphere.

Two armies.

One wants to reclaim the artifact, the other wants to hunt down the traitor.

The goals are different, but the direction is the same: both point to Bayer's underground facilities.

If the two armies meet in the underground facility, Bayer will be utterly destroyed.

But what if the two armies encounter each other before reaching the underground facility...

Bayer's eyes darted around.

"Communications officer, send new operational instructions to the mutants in the North District. Make them retreat from the front; they don't have the intelligence to pretend. Cut off their stimulant supply and let their fighting instincts naturally decline. They will start to flee south."

“Creators, if they flee south, they will run straight into the Imperial Guards landing from the Southern Hemisphere…”

"This is exactly the effect I wanted."

The Emperor's Claws coalition forces of Tawar have completed their assembly in the alkaline desert of the Southern Hemisphere, GX-4107.

Twenty-four Imperial Guards, and a detachment of the Silent Sisters.

They came to this planet following the signals of the remnants of the brass dragon.

The mission objective is clear: eliminate the last remnants of the brass dragon, and, if luck is on your side, find Fabius Bayer himself.

Tavar did not anticipate that there was another army on this planet.

As the vanguard of the Emperor's Claws crossed a stretch of rust-colored dunes, they encountered a horde of mutants fleeing from the north.

More than thirty three-meter-tall berserk monsters screamed as they charged across the sand dunes, followed by a barrage of explosive projectiles from the Death Guard pursuit force.

The Imperial Guard's reaction speed does not need to be measured in time.

The volley of Guardian Spears began the instant the mutant appeared in their field of vision.

The golden bomb tore the fleeing mutants to shreds.

But the trajectory of the bomb bypassed the wreckage of the mutant and landed on the other side of the dune.

The Death Guard's pursuit squad was standing there.

The Plague Warriors in their dark green power armor spotted the golden bomb.

The two armies stared at each other for about a second across a sand dune scattered with the remains of mutants in the alkaline desert.

Both sides opened fire almost simultaneously!

The Guardians' Spears and the Death Guards' Plague Bombs flew in a crisscross pattern between the dunes.

Golden bullets and dark green poison grenades intertwined in the sky above the alkaline desert, forming a deadly web.

The Imperial Guard's combat power was indeed the pinnacle of the empire.

The individual combat strength of a Guardian is equivalent to that of a Space Marine squad.

The Guardian Spear's adamantite bullets can penetrate Terminator armor.

The Silent Sisters' blank trait creates a psychic dead zone, causing the Rotten Aura of Nurgle's Blessing to become ineffective in areas near them.

Once the Plague Warriors lost the Nurgle's blessing within the Psionic Dead Zone, they were just a group of ordinary rogue Astartes wearing rusty power armor.

The Imperial Guard cut down the plague warriors as easily as cutting down rotten wood.

However, the number of Death Guards far exceeds that of Imperial Claws.

The twenty-four guards of Tawar faced a relentless surge of dark green waves coming from the north.

Bayer watched all of this through the underground surveillance cameras.

He had already sat down.

He took a cup of freshly made, chilled caffeine beverage from a Newtype guard.

"Kill them, kill them."

He held his cup, crossed his legs, and watched the battle between the Imperial Guard and the Death Guard on the screen, feeling a long-lost sense of ease.

"Ideally, both sides would perish. If Mortarian gains the upper hand, I'll throw the remaining mutants from the flank to buy time for the Imperial Guard. If the Imperial Guard gains the upper hand..."

He thought about it and rejected the idea.

"The Imperial Guards have no chance of gaining the upper hand; twenty-four Imperial Guards cannot defeat an expeditionary force led by a Primarch."

The surface surveillance cameras produce poor image quality in the sandstorms of the alkaline desert, but Bayer can still clearly see the key information.

The Imperial Guard's fighting style sparked his strong professional interest as a genetic scientist.

Twenty-four golden-armored guards carved a straight, bloody path through the dark green plague army.

A royal guard stabbed three Death Guards in three seconds—instant kills. The spear tip pierced through the gap in the chest and exited through the reactor shield on the back.

"Good job!"

Bayer took a sip of his drink and couldn't help but exclaim, "The Emperor's gene templates are indeed masterpieces, all top-notch designs, at least two generations better than the gene seeds of the Space Marines I have. It's a pity the old man won't open source them."

On the surveillance footage, the Imperial Guard squad had penetrated deep into the heart of the Death Guard's lines.

Twenty-four Imperial Guards, under the cover of Sisters of Silence, fought their way through at least two hundred Plague Warriors without suffering any casualties themselves.

Then, Mortarion appeared.

On the surveillance footage, a huge figure emerged from the rear of the Death Guard.

Mortarion, the Deathlord, Nurgle's demonic principality.

His body swelled to nearly five meters tall after he fell into demonic possession.

The rotting wings spread out from its back, with a wingspan of over ten meters, and the wing membranes were covered with pustules and maggots.

His power armor was covered with a thick layer of congealed pus and rust.

His right hand gripped a giant war scythe called "Silence".

This weapon cleaved through the armor of countless loyalist Space Marines during the Great Rebellion, and ten thousand years later, it can still cleave through Guilliman's armor.

He held a lantern called "Dawn Lamp" in his left hand.

Inside the lantern burned the plague fire bestowed by Nurgle, the color of which was a yellowish-green that made the human retina uncomfortable.

All organic matter within the lantern's illumination range will decompose more rapidly.

The moment Mortarion stepped onto the battlefield, the nature of the entire battle changed fundamentally.

Bayer put down his cup and leaned forward slightly.

"Interesting, the Primarch has arrived."
