In a dimly lit room.
“Bella, my loyal servant.” Voldemort gestured for her to rise. “My foolish student cannot die yet. She has some unique uses, setting up obstacles for me and guarding my precious treasures.”
Crimson thorns entwine around Hufflepuff's golden cup, and anyone who tries to touch it will be cursed, bleeding profusely until death.
This is an extremely rare, terrifying, and highly technical spell. Whether its intent is good or bad, all who face it will bleed to death and become mummies.
The most ingenious part is that the Norse witch who taught Winnie the spell said that the spell's creator restricted it to only witches, and only witches could learn and break the spell.
As the Norse witches emphasized, "This is not a curse, it is love," Voldemort demanded that Winnie immediately accept the Norse witches' test and learn the curse.
Witches are wonderful! No matter how clever Dumbledore's methods were, he couldn't break the curse.
And among the witches, whose spellcasting skills and breadth can surpass Winnie's? Unless it's the Smith sisters, who live far away in America.
But even they might not know this obscure incantation.
Then, he divided the guardian of the Holy Grail in two, had Winnie curse it, and put the Grail in a box for Bella to keep.
“Loyalty, yes, loyalty!” Bella’s face turned bright red, and she excitedly covered her face and screamed, “As long as it’s useful to my master—of course, I’ll put up with her!”
As soon as Bella stepped out of the room, she saw this ungrateful woman.
More than a decade has passed, and she remains as radiant as ever. But she—Bellacris—has gone mad!
That's right, that's right, she did all this willingly for her master.
But why, why was Winnie Brown so lucky to become her master's student, to live peacefully for more than a decade after the war, and to easily return to his side after his resurrection?
She didn't pay a single price! That's so unfair!
After making sarcastic remarks to Winnie, Bella stormed out and bumped into Dolly Burst, who was as stupid as a pig.
Mrs. Burst looked disgusted: "Me? Of course I'm going to do the task my master gave me, to feed a wretched female rabbit!"
Dolly Burstd would rather do something more meaningful, like killing members of the Order of the Phoenix or Aurors for her master, than deliver food to a prisoner.
Bella's eyes widened, and she gripped Mrs. Burst's shoulders tightly: "You mean, that bitch Brown—"
“That’s right,” Mrs. Burst said, frowning. “You go crazy at the mere mention of Brown.”
Dolly Burst had completely forgotten that she herself looked just like that.
“I can tell you don’t seem too keen on doing this.” Bella’s mind had never been clearer than it was now. “Luckily, I don’t have any missions right now…”
Mrs. Burst narrowed her eyes, a glint of shrewdness flashing within them: "Oh, you mean? You've got some nerve."
"Don't you—want Brown to pay the price?" Bella grinned, revealing an extremely exaggerated smile, her face trembling slightly.
The mere thought of Winnie's breakdown upon discovering this made Dolly and Bella's hearts pound with excitement, their blood boil, and they were filled with anticipation.
Mrs. Burst rolled her eyes and her smile faded. "Oh dear, what's wrong! My stomach's a little upset... I'll leave the task of delivering food to Purnell to you, Bellacritus."
Chapter 127 Occlumency Instruction
The old witch, wearing a tattered cloak, walked unsteadily down the street.
She walked slowly, stopping to rest every few steps, and looked very unwell.
At the intersection with the green mailbox, the old witch turned and walked into a dimly lit alley.
"How is it?" Lupin looked at the "old witch" in front of him with concern. "Has she discovered anything amiss?"
Tonks pulled up his hood and let out a heavy sigh: "Excellent, your cloak adds some credibility to my disguise."
The tattered cloak conjured by magic is far less realistically tattered than Lupin's cloak.
A blush rose on Lu Ping's sickly face.
“Tonks!” he coughed twice. “I’m asking about Ms. Purnell.”
Two years ago, Lupin briefly served as a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. Although he was unable to continue the job, he still received some wages.
After being forced to resign, cheap wolfsbane medicine began to appear on the market, which greatly reduced his financial burden.
Since last year, Lupin has been living at 12 Grimaud Place, eliminating his expenses for food and lodging.
This tattered cloak was one he had used before, but Tonks's teasing still made him a little embarrassed.
After being reminded by Lupin, Tonks immediately got back to the main topic.
According to information provided by Agent Snape, Dolly Burst is the Death Eater specifically tasked with guarding Ms. Purnell.
Upon receiving the message, Tonks disguised himself as a wizard living nearby and followed Mrs. Burst.
Tonks nearly failed both the stealth and tracking courses, and she was also clumsy and prone to making mistakes. No one trusted her with this task.
But Dumbledore pointed Tonks to a shortcut, suggesting that he pretend to be a person with a leg disability.
This suggestion was highly feasible. During the three-day surveillance, Tonks played a variety of elderly people with mobility issues, as well as middle-aged people with limps or cripples, without being detected.
On the first day, Tonks determined Mrs. Burst's route of action.
The next day, Tonks located the apartment room where Ms. Purnell was being held captive.
After Mrs. Burst left, Tonks looked up from the alley and saw that the window of a room on the third floor had been boarded up with wooden strips, and there were traces of magic on it.
Today, before Mrs. Burst arrived, Tonks pretended to have taken the wrong turn and went into the apartment building to check.
“The door is enchanted; it can’t be opened unless it’s forcibly destroyed,” Tonks said, somewhat puzzled. “Just then, the old Squirrel next door opened his door. I asked him for directions, and it turned out he was mute.”
Lupin nodded: "The Death Eaters are probably afraid that Ms. Purnell will pretend to have some problem to lure the guards into opening the door."
If the guards think, "It would be a problem if the hostage died," they could easily be tricked into opening the door by Pernell.
The mute wouldn't reveal the secret, and the Squib couldn't break the spell on the door. No matter how eloquent Ms. Purnell was, she couldn't get a response, let alone get a Squib who couldn't use magic to open the door for her.
Lupin patted Tonks on the shoulder: "Well done, let's go back now..."
Before he could finish speaking, Lupin suddenly reached out and pulled Tonks into the shadows. Tonks' eyes widened, bewildered.
After a while, Lupin released Tonks and poked his head out to look in the direction Tonks had come from: "Bellatrix Lestrange?"
"What?!" Tonks exclaimed in surprise, "Why were you changed at the last minute?"
Could there be a traitor among them who leaked Snape's message? No, no, no, Tonks was unwilling to doubt his companions.
If there were a traitor, Snape's identity and the address of the Order of the Phoenix would be lost, not just this piece of information.
Lupin tilted his head to one side, his Adam's apple bobbed, and he blinked rapidly a few times: "Something's not right. They might have a new plan."
The reason Mrs. Burst was put in charge of Purnell's imprisonment was precisely because her identity was still innocent on the surface.
Even in The Quibbler, there is no mention of Mrs. Burstde—Harry had never met Mrs. Burstde and could not recall her name.
Lestrange is a wanted criminal, and Voldemort would never send her to replace Burstdle.
This seemed very strange, but Lupin couldn't understand what these lunatics were thinking.
Lupin whispered to Tonks, "Tonks, I'll go after them and see what's going on. You go back to base and get reinforcements. We need to move up our rescue plan!"
"What a joke! Absolutely not!" Tonks rejected Lupin's idea. "You're not familiar with the terrain, so I should go. You go back to the base and get reinforcements!"
Lupin couldn't possibly agree to let Tonks face Lestrange alone. Tonks only officially became an Auror two years ago. That means she's only been an Auror for a full two years.
As an Auror, Tonks lacked experience and had no experience dealing with fanatical Death Eaters.
Bellatrix Lestrange was a fanatical Death Eater among fanatical Death Eaters. She and her companions drove two members of the Order of the Phoenix insane.
Continuing to argue like this was not a solution, so Lupin had no choice but to take a risk and bring Tonks along to check the situation together.
Are we the only two here?
Harry looked left and right.
He only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that Snape wasn't there.
Harry had mentally prepared himself for a long time before stepping into the office. But once inside, he couldn't help but recall what had happened that day.
Praris opened the cupboard and took out a jar: "Would you like some black tea?"
Harry's eyes widened.
How come there's tea here?
“Potter, this is my tea canister.” Praris scoffed. “Stop with your stupid ideas.”
A few minutes later, the steam rising from the teacup blurred Harry's glasses.
He actually received a warm welcome in Snape's office—instead of being humiliated by Snape's apprentice.
Praris beckoned to him: "Come with me."
Harry instinctively obeyed her command, holding his teacup and following Praris's footsteps.
To his surprise, Prareas led him to a Pensieve—the very Pensieve from which he had seen Snape's memories.
“This is an empty Pensieve,” Prarese said calmly. “Put the memory of the day you had a conflict with Professor Snape in here. Take it back after the lecture.”
"why?"
Harry asked the question without thinking, and when he realized what a stupid question he had asked, he wished he could swallow his words back.
Praris's tone suddenly turned cold: "In order to maintain the barely harmonious teaching relationship between us."
Prareas couldn't guarantee that she wouldn't draw her wand after seeing that part of Potter's memory.
Finally, Praris and Harry sat facing each other on either side.
“The professor should have already taught you the most basic common sense,” Praris began his questioning methodically. “So, how do you now understand Legilimency and Occlumency?”
“Uh…” Harry took a breath and said, “Leech is reading other people’s minds and interpreting them. Occlumency is to prevent such intrusion.”
“I’m glad you memorized the answers,” Praris said softly, “but you don’t seem to think so.”
"Are you using Legilimency?" Harry asked anxiously. "I don't think I sensed it."
Prarese shook her head. Why would she need Legilimency? Her Occlumency was taught to her by Snape!
Without a doubt, Harry's answer was an excerpt from Snape's own words, with some modifications.
“Potter, don’t take such deep breaths when you’re saying what you’re resisting,” Prarese said pointedly. “People always need more oxygen when they lie or say things they don’t want to say.”
Harry suddenly realized that having Snape teach him might not be so bad after all.
Praris gestured for him to have some tea and relax: "You don't need to be afraid of Legilimency. Its applications are more extensive than you think. For example, the Sorting Hat uses the same principle to determine which house a person should go to."
