The four leaders are all masters of Legilimency and have used their Legilimency magic to enhance the Sorting Hat's abilities.
In that era, the Sorting Hat was more than just a sorting hat. Its function was far greater than it is today.
Harry had seen the Sorting Hat more often than the average student, but he had never considered the principles behind the Sorting Hat's sorting system.
“And then there’s the cat-leopard,” Praris continued, explaining, “a magical animal that looks like a jaguar. They are skilled in hypnosis and Legilimency. There’s an academy in Iphamoni called the Cat-Leopard Academy.”
“The concept of ‘capturing the mind’ can be simply understood as the user obtaining a portion of the thoughts of the other user and then interpreting them. Obtaining the thoughts and interpreting them are both indispensable steps.”
Prarese used Harry's inhalation as an example.
A person who doesn't undergo Occlumency surgery won't have a lie in their memories, but the people in those memories might lie.
If Prareus uses Legilimency on Hermione, the memories Hermione has of Harry and Hermione will show them talking. And when Harry says a particular sentence, he will exhibit behaviors such as inhaling, frequently touching his nose, swallowing, and repeating what he says.
Then Harry might be deceiving Hermione.
Therefore, Prareas can conclude that although Hermione did not lie to him, the information Hermione received was incorrect, indirectly leading to Prareas being deceived.
At the same time, when a person lies, they recall the content they intend to lie about and rationalize or modify it. If the liar doesn't employ obscuration techniques, these memories and thoughts are completely exposed.
Praris concluded: "Therefore, this is a very exquisite and magical magic."
Prarese was extremely calm during her lectures, and she was happy to select appropriate examples from her extensive knowledge as explanations.
Harry, who was originally eager to get to the "guillotine" as soon as possible, listened with great interest and almost forgot that there was a practical part to it.
“I can see you’re resistant to learning this,” Prareas said gently. “On one hand, it’s difficult for you to learn, and on the other hand, you have misconceptions about Occlumency. Don’t rush me—”
Harry was about to explain something when Praris stopped him.
“Harry, may I call you that?” Praris said slowly. “The mind is our treasure trove, containing what we have gained through our efforts: knowledge, precious memories, and valuable emotions.”
"Did you have any happy memories after entering Hogwarts?"
Harry couldn't help but recall his first time entering the wizarding world, his first time being chosen by Professor McGonagall as the Seeker, his first time helping Gryffindor win the House Cup, and his first Quidditch championship.
He remembered learning of Sirius's innocence, receiving photos of his parents... and many other things.
He nodded emphatically: "Yes, Hogwarts... Hogwarts feels more like home than the places I used to live. No, it is my home. The time I spent here was the happiest time of my life."
Prareas continued with an example: "Then Occupational Sclerosis is like locking your mind to prevent others from accessing your precious memories."
Praris felt these words were quite necessary.
It wasn't until Harry Potter's interviews were widely circulated that some people realized the crisis was brewing. Similarly, if Harry Potter hadn't even realized why he was learning Occlumency, he wouldn't have put so much effort into learning it.
"If the mysterious man easily obtains your memories and thoughts, and you happen to know Dumbledore's plans—"
Prarese said all he had to say.
For most of the evening, Prader spent her time supplementing Harry's theoretical knowledge of Occlumency. She only began practical training in the last half hour.
The actual process was indescribable, a complete mess, and a total failure.
Harry, true to his Gryffindor nature, preferred active offense to passive defense. Whenever Praris invaded his mind, he couldn't help but resist by using a reverse invasion.
Fortunately, Praris and Harry had no grudges against each other.
Therefore, she remained extremely calm and effortlessly deflected Harry's "counterattacks" several times.
“Mr. Potter, it is highly commendable that you have such a talent for Legilimency,” Praris said with a forced smile. “But perhaps I can assume that this is teaching you Occlumency, rather than training my own Occlumency?”
Harry was so embarrassed he wanted to disappear into the ground.
Praris took out his pocket watch, glanced at it, and said, "Harry, it's about time for today. Put your memories back, and we'll end today's lessons. See you in two days."
"After you go back, please be sure to practice on your own, if you don't want me to see any more of these things..."
Harry sat up abruptly and said urgently, "You said you wouldn't—"
“Of course, I’m good at keeping secrets, and I’m also good at Occlumency.” Prarese nodded calmly. “Don’t be lazy, I’ll have Hermione supervise your studies.”
Tsk tsk tsk, I never expected that the savior would be a pure, unrequited lover.
Unfortunately, Cho Chang already has a lover she deeply loves. She and Potter also have disagreements over Marie Etta, making it difficult to maintain even a simple friendship.
Cho Chang and Porter were not on the same page; she did not realize the seriousness of the war and thought it was understandable for Mary to make mistakes for her family.
Praris shook his head and locked those memories of Potter in a room.
Chapter 128 Molting
Easter is just around the corner, and Pansy and Daphne both received Easter eggs and a bunch of hot cross buns from home.
Easter eggs and cross-shaped bread were piled on the table. Daphne picked out some purple and dark blue eggs from the pile.
These eggs are painted with silver or gold spots, making them look like the starry night sky.
There's always a love-hate relationship between siblings.
While Daphne grumbled about her sister, she picked out Easter eggs that Astoria might like.
Pansy mocked Daphne: "Hey, our Duffy sister, why don't you go and teach your little sister a lesson? Are you too reluctant?"
Pansy always gets to the point.
"I'll teach her a lesson?" Daphne scoffed, her tone sarcastic and mocking. "Then I'll get a letter from Mom tomorrow, telling me not to bully her beloved little Leah~"
Daphne also harbored considerable resentment about being the older sister.
"Did our sister Duffy go to settle scores with Warrington?" Praris tossed the Easter egg high into the air and caught it steadily. "I ran into Warrington in the school infirmary when I went to visit Monta."
Warrington was certainly not there to visit his teammates.
Friendships among Slytherins always oscillate between deep affection and cold indifference. Which one it is, depends on the circumstances.
Warrington went there for treatment.
Magic is always so amazing; the tall and mighty Quidditch player was beaten down by the seemingly frail Daphne.
Faced with magic, physical strength becomes negligible, and Daphne successfully made Warrington suffer a silent defeat.
Faced with Prares's formalistic concern, Warrington didn't even dare to tell the truth, stubbornly insisting that he had accidentally fallen during Quidditch practice.
Daphne rolled her eyes gracefully: "Who are you to lecture my sister, Daphne's sister?"
Although Warrington's "lesson" ultimately fell on Grace Jones, in the end, Warrington still bullied Astoria.
Can Daphne tolerate this?
Warrington could have simply deducted points from Jones and Hufflepuff. If he had, Daphne might have applauded him.
But Warrington is bullying her sister in her name... Using her name is bullying someone else's power, and bullying her sister is bullying her!
Pansy and Praris exchanged a glance.
You don't discipline others, and you don't let others discipline you either.
So that means no one can discipline your sister?
“Awkward,” Pansy teased Daphne.
“That’s awkward,” Praris also mocked Daphne.
Daphne raised her index finger and pointed at the two bastards opposite her: "Aren't you two awkward? Aren't you two conflicted?"
Pansy slowly shifted her gaze, raised the hand mirror with one hand, and began to admire herself in the mirror.
Praris silently picked up the tarot reading reference book that was originally on his lap, held it in front of him, and muttered something under his breath.
Daphne slammed her hand on the table and stood up, taking on the task of tickling her two roommates one by one.
Five minutes later, all three of them, panting heavily, waved their hands to stop.
"I can't take it anymore, my stomach hurts from laughing." Praris tilted her head back to rest, then suddenly remembered something, "By the way, Millie, isn't your Easter egg coming yet?"
The Burst family doesn't make their own Easter eggs; they buy them directly from a store. If you look closely, you can even see the label on the egg.
In previous years there were always some surprises, but this year there wasn't even a trace of one.
A holiday gift from a Slytherin student's home can't possibly fail Umbridge's inspection, can it?
“My mom’s busy,” Millison said in a low voice. “She doesn’t have time to prepare Easter eggs.”
Praris blinked and said in a casual tone, "Millie, then you'll have to rob those two with me this year. I recommend Pansy's Eggs—they're chocolate, by the way."
Traditionally, Easter eggs are real eggs, but nowadays some families use chocolate eggs instead.
"Huh?" Pansy questioned loudly, "How can you openly plan a robbery like this?"
Pansy originally wanted to ask what a widow who doesn't work and lives off her ancestral property and inheritance could possibly be busy with.
But Praris nudged her under the table.
Pansy immediately swallowed what she was going to say and started bickering with Praris instead.
Not long after, Daphne went to find her sister with the chosen Easter eggs, and Pansy also set off with the portion that Mrs. Parkinson had prepared for Draco, leaving only Prader and Millison behind.
The dormitory was quiet except for the sound of the Easter egg rolling on the table.
Glug glug, glug glug.
The Easter egg Pansy gave to Milison rolled around on the table, bumping into Praris's divination book and being forced to stop.
“Millie, you recently learned tarot card interpretation in your arithmetic and divination class.” Praris reached for Millison’s Easter egg and handed it back to her. “Would you like to try it?”
Millison stared intently at her first friend since arriving at Hogwarts, who is now also her best friend.
A few seconds later, Milison closed his eyes and nodded heavily.
People always say that life has endless possibilities.
But often when a person stands at a crossroads in life, they don't even know which option to choose.
Time pushes people forward, leading them to make choices that are hardly choices, choices they don't even know are right or wrong, amidst their struggles.
Those passionate, fiery days, those days of shouting ourselves hoarse for the ideal of being a commentator, those days of bickering and volatile friendships, will soon rush along the River Tay towards the North Sea, like the melting snow of the Scottish Highlands, never to return.
quick!quick!quick!
Hurry up and finish it!
Tonks waved his wand, unleashing a series of spells at the lock, frantically glancing back as he tried to break the spell.
This was the first time Tonks had met his blood aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange, in real life.
