Draco didn't leave his mother's side because he saw Pralis.
Narcissa's expression softened upon hearing Draco's words.
“I’ve heard of you, the gifted witch,” Narcissa said slowly, staring at Praris. “You saved Draco, didn’t you?”
Narcissa may have thought her tone was friendly, but to others, it sounded far too condescending!
It was as if Prares saving Draco was an honor for the little girl.
Heidi was tempted to storm off. Who did these two people think they were?!
People who have owned beagles are generally more tolerant of barking from most dogs. Narcissa wasn't provoked by her attitude—but she wasn't without temper either.
“You mean, you saved Draco?” Praris’s gaze shifted from Narcissa’s face to Draco’s, and she asked in a casual tone, “Which one specifically?”
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Draco clenched his fist and put it to his mouth, coughing violently.
Narcissa took a deep breath, paused briefly, and then spoke again: "It seems that the safety of Hogwarts is really not something to be trusted."
“I agree with you,” Praris said cheerfully. “Unfortunately, it’s not very safe outside right now. Staying on the street for too long is not a good idea.”
She then said to Draco, "Let's talk again next time, Draco—I look forward to your letter."
After saying that, Praris and Heidi turned and left.
Draco quickly explained to Narcissa, "Mama, Prader is a genius, geniuses are always like that. You know, Professor Snape was always too—"
"Draco, it seems you two get along quite well?" Narcissa asked.
Draco shrugged. "We're all Slytherin prefects."
He didn't really want his mother to know about his feelings.
Of course, his mother always cared about him.
But his mother always treated him like a child, neither letting him go out alone nor believing that he could complete the Dark Lord's mission.
Narcissa astutely remarked, "She must be a pureblood, right?"
Without hesitation, Draco replied, "Are there any other possibilities?"
After saying goodbye to Draco, Prarese and Heidi returned to the Leaky Cauldron.
Heidi felt like she had spent all her time being angry today.
Real life is always very different from novels. Novels can make her happy, but reality always makes her resentful.
“I should have known, all Slytherins are like this!” Heidi slammed her hand on the table. “Of course, I wasn’t talking about you, Praris.”
Praris said nonchalantly, "Even if you're talking about me, it doesn't matter. I really am a Slytherin."
With new textbooks, a new robe, and newspapers from June and July, Praris returned to Black Moon Lane.
Being alone isn't a bad thing for her. On the contrary, it's always having to deal with other people that makes her feel tired.
Stella left her textbooks behind when she graduated, but her senior year electives did not completely overlap with Praris's.
After all, the International Department of Magical Cooperation is always a backlog of pure-blood families. Stella's efforts to improve NEWT's performance are simply paving the way for her own career advancement.
—Speaking of which, my senior has been promoted to director of the International Office of Magical Law, as fast as riding a rocket crossbow.
Therefore, Praris bought some additional textbooks and spent some time supplementing his studies.
In addition, she also researches some new and highly effective treatments.
Once the battle between Voldemort and Dumbledore begins, casualties are inevitable, and fast-acting medical supplies may be able to save the lives of some of the combatants.
Prarese believes that some medications are very effective, but they don't work very quickly, and some people may die before the medication takes effect.
In the field of potion research, new potions, such as inexpensive wolfsbane potion and poison tentacle growth agent, made Praris stand out and gain fame early on, even before he graduated.
However, she also has some controversial works, such as spiritual potions and dream potions.
The effect of spiritual potions is to inspire a person's creativity and enhance their intuition about destiny in a short period of time. Praris used various mushrooms, spices, and even snake eggs, among other things, in his potions.
Some well-known fortune tellers believe this is taking a shortcut and is a shameless act of cheating.
"Those who play with fate will ultimately be played with by fate, and those who cheat in divination will also receive an ominous reward."
Anyway, that's what these guys are saying.
The fortune tellers' accusations did not diminish Praris's reputation as a genius. On the contrary, people believed the spiritual potion must be effective—otherwise, why would the fortune tellers be so agitated?
Some fortune tellers are of mediocre talent; they verbally join in the criticism, but in reality, they quietly contribute to the sales of spiritual potions.
Some customers were Hogwarts students. They had chosen Divination class without really knowing what to do, but soon found themselves unable to even come up with their own assignments, so they bought spiritual potions.
In addition, some people use spiritual potions as a warning of danger, taking a sip first thing in the morning to see if it's a good day to go out.
In short, Praris's reputation in potion research was sometimes kind and benevolent, especially for cheap wolfsbane potions, and sometimes infamous, especially for spiritual potions and dream potions.
Praris herself didn't care about such so-called fame. If she cared about what others thought, she should have hanged herself in the convent.
The master leads you through the door, but the practice depends on yourself. After Professor Snape introduced her to the field of Potions, she set off on her own.
Whenever she produces some practical and positive research results, she rewards herself with one or two new products that attract criticism.
Summer vacation always seems so short; it felt like Praris hadn't done anything before school started again.
Most students are taken to school by their parents, but Praris and Heidi look at each other blankly.
Heidi said earnestly, "Little Pley, you have to protect me!"
"Third place in the Duel Grand Prix?" Praris asked meaningfully.
Heidi waved her hand: "That happened so many years ago!"
“Seven or eight years ago,” Praris said calmly.
Heidi was shocked: "Why do you remember it so clearly!"
Sigh! Others came to see the students off specifically to protect their safety.
What's going on here is that she finds Heidi, the only healthy and capable person among a group of elderly, weak, sick and disabled people, and then claims that she needs to protect them!
Praris lamented that she might as well have set off alone!
They arrived at the Hogwarts Express without any major mishaps.
Of course, things have to go smoothly. She's not Harry Potter, who faces all sorts of setbacks all the time!
Goodbye, little Pley.
Heidi hugged her and whispered, "This is Winnie's."
Heidi hugged her a second time: "This is Prim's."
Heidi hugged her for the third time: "This is mine, old Tom's, and the other elders in Diagon Alley."
She let out a sigh of relief and put her hands on Praris's shoulders: "Have fun at school, don't worry about us."
Praris hugged Heidi back and whispered something, causing Heidi's eyes to widen in surprise.
"I've hired someone to write you a love story about Grindelwald and Dumbledore, along with six chapters of the Four Great Masters—which are currently being kept by Old Tom."
Chapter 144 Slughorn
Prarese boarded the train, and it took her quite a while to find Draco.
Unlike last year, Draco didn't swagger around and squander his prefectural authority. Instead, he sat in the carriage, resting his chin on his hand, gazing absently out the window.
Crabbe and Goyle greeted her: "Prince!"
Hearing their voices, Draco turned around and said lazily, "You're not as enthusiastic towards me as you are towards that Travers."
It was obvious that he saw Praris and Heidi embracing in front of the train.
Praris casually replied, "Girls have special privileges with me."
“But I’m not a girl,” Draco drawled. “What should I do?”
Praris couldn't help but laugh: "If it were you..."
Before she could even say anything to tease Draco, the carriage door was suddenly pushed open.
boom--
Bresz Zabini slammed the door open, his listless, triangular eyes sweeping around the carriage.
Crabbe and Goyle looked like they should be under the train. Draco shifted his gaze from Praris to the doorway, while Praris hadn't yet shaken off his smile.
"Looks like I've come at the wrong time?" Zabini leaned against the doorframe of the private room, arms crossed.
Gore muttered to himself, "Quite the opposite."
Praris sneered, "Zabini, I don't want to sit next to you—are you planning to squeeze in with Crabbe and Goyle?"
Blaise Zabini is a guy who always has his head on his shoulders; there's no way he'd ever squeeze in with someone else.
Prarese said that purely to annoy him.
Zabini coldly replied, "I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't have that habit."
“Let’s get back to the point!” Draco said. “Zabini, what brings you here?”
“I didn’t say I was here to see you.” Zabini placed a roll of parchment on the table. “Prince, Professor Slughorn has invited us to lunch.”
Praris picked up the parchment and asked in confusion, "Professor Slughorn? Who's that?"
Could it be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor?
“My father mentioned him,” Draco said slowly. “The previous Head of Slytherin, and also the previous Potions professor.”
Re-employment after retirement?
Praris thought to himself, "But what Hogwarts needs is a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, not a Potions professor!"
With this in mind, Praris decided to go and see what was going on.
“I’ll go see what this new professor is planning to do,” Prarese said to Draco. “If Pansy calls me, tell her I’ll be there later.”
At lunchtime, the corridor was so crowded that Praris and Zabini were pushed apart.
Prarese was happy with this arrangement; aside from being fellow Slytherins, she and Zabini had never really gotten along.
