He hadn't just been crying, and it certainly wasn't the respiratory alkalosis Praris had mentioned, but his heart was beating even faster than if he had just finished crying!
Draco thought to himself, how terrified he was of death! But after Praris threatened him with death, he felt not fear or anger, but a more intense excitement than before!
Draco looked down at the hand clutching his chest and couldn't help but think: Love is such a strange thing...
When Praris returned to her dorm, the first thing she did without hesitation was to change her shirt!
Draco had cried so much that her shoulder was all wet and sticky, making her feel quite uncomfortable.
The second thing was to open her potion box and take out a bottle of forsythia-colored potion.
Honestly, Praris couldn't help but feel a little annoyed with himself: This was so rude!
Harper gave her such a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift a few years ago, and she didn't even know how to reciprocate! If others knew, they might think she was an ill-mannered child... How could that be so disrespectful to Professor Snape's teachings!
Praris put the small square double-cone vial into his pocket and walked briskly out of the dormitory.
"Play, where are you going?" Daphne asked as she happened to walk in.
Praris smiled slightly: "Returning the courtesy."
Daphne frowned slightly, feeling that Praris's smile was a bit off. She shook her head, too lazy to care—after all, the one who suffered was the recipient of the gift.
Come to think of it, she had forgotten to tell Praris what had happened that morning.
Daphne overheard someone saying during her morning class that Ron Weasley had been poisoned at Slughorn's place!
That evening, at the Slytherin dinner table.
“I never expected this!” Millison said to Praris. “First Ron Weasley, and now Harper!”
Pansy dismissed it: "Harper's condition is hardly poisoning! Tsk tsk tsk, I bet he messed with a girl!"
“How so?” Milison asked.
Pansy said matter-of-factly, "Didn't you see the look on his face?"
If Ron's situation terrified everyone, then Harper's situation only provided amusement for everyone during their leisure time.
It is said that Harper received a package, which was said to be a gift from someone who admired him.
In her letter, the girl who sent the gift said that she had received a potion that could make people lucky, from a legendary Egyptian sorcerer with a particularly long name.
The girl wanted to give this wonderful thing to Harper because only her crush deserved the potion!
This medicine is called—Jinjia Shenshui!
Several Slytherins watching immediately started shouting and making noises, expressing envy and jealousy, with a few saying, "Is this girl blind?"
Harper was overjoyed and immediately drank half a bottle of the holy water.
Just as he was thinking about how to test his luck, he saw the look of horror on the faces of the others!
It turned out that Harper's face was covered with bumps, big and small, which spread rapidly across his face.
By the time Harper was taken to the school infirmary, some of the lumps had already broken open on their own, emitting a foul odor similar to feces that made the Slytherin boys shy away!
The letter in Harper's hand had also changed; the sweet words had become a single sentence—Karma is a funny thing.
Chapter 176 Reconciliation
"idiot!"
Snape burst through the door and said in his icy tone, "I think we've had enough trouble already. You don't need to add cherries to the cake, do you?"
Praris sat at the table, looking at a book called "Atlas of Rare Magical Plants," and made himself a cup of tea.
She shrugged, showing no sign of reflection: "Sir, he deserved it. I will never tolerate anyone provoking me and not learning a lesson—unless he has something more important to offer."
Snape's eyes were dangerous: "So, you're saying I should praise you?"
"No, no, I wouldn't dare." Praris pushed a bottle of potion over. "The antidote. We'll give it to Harper later."
Praris couldn't pinpoint exactly when... it was probably after she independently developed the limb regeneration agent that her relationship with the professor underwent a subtle change—she was no longer the obedient student she once was.
However, the professor didn't seem to react much to this, as if it were something perfectly normal.
The Elixir of Ginga wasn't a particularly complex poison, and making an antidote wouldn't take Snape much time. But he didn't have that kind of time; he'd rather spend a few minutes warning his student, who seemed to be going through a rebellious phase.
The tricky thing about this potion is that it makes people smell incredibly foul. Now the entire school infirmary has become a gas chamber, and even Madam Pomfrey has to muster up her courage to go in.
This directly led to a standstill in the treatment process.
The problem was that there were other patients in the school infirmary... such as the poisoned Weasley. Therefore, Mrs. Pomfrey had to rush into the infirmary time and time again.
Prareese's actions were not only tormenting Harper, but also Madam Pomfrey. Snape would bet that Prareese hadn't really experimented with the Potion of Gold much, otherwise she wouldn't be acting so nonchalantly.
Her antidote was pure torture. Snape estimated that only a fraction of it was for treatment, and the rest was used to clear out the absorbed liquid. Most of it was expelled from the body through diarrhea.
"Later?" Snape didn't see the necessity of this medical order.
Praris looked up guiltily: "It would be a shame if the potion I painstakingly made didn't work!"
Snape snorted in dissatisfaction: "I wonder who he learned that from!"
“Genetics.” Praris pointed a finger at someone in front of him. “It’s genetics, sir.”
Otherwise, why would Professor Snape's wolfsbane potion taste so bad and lose its effectiveness after adding sugar?
Prarese is the third person in the world to know about the wolfsbane potion, and she knows that the negative effects are entirely the professor's deliberate revenge.
Snape frowned, sensing his authority had been challenged, and ordered Praliss to stay in solitary confinement, tasked with cleaning the entire office—without the use of magic!
Really!
That's just how adults are!
They bully children because they're being pressured by others!
Praris leaned on her broom and thought for a moment. She had turned seventeen a few months ago... so she could be considered an adult, right?
Well, that's just how middle-aged people are!
Meanwhile, Hermione and Harry rushed to the school infirmary as soon as get out of class ended, but she didn't expect the infirmary to smell like a troll had defecated there.
The situation only improved slightly when Mrs. Pomfrey helped Harper away with a bottle of greenish-blue potion to the bathroom.
Before the stench had completely dissipated, Hermione and Harry rushed into the school infirmary, suppressing their nausea to visit Ron.
Nurse Barron kindly told them, "Weasley won't wake up for a little longer, so you can wait outside for a while. Mrs. Pomfrey said his family will be here tonight."
"Oh, thank you." Harry covered his mouth. "But this is his most vulnerable moment, ugh...we're his best friends!"
Hermione looked at Ron with concern, worried and even heartbroken for him. She even discussed the matter with Praris: "Who do you think would want to kill Slughorn?"
"Could it be Voldemort?" Hermione wondered. "He wants to eliminate anyone who might know the number of his Horcruxes!"
"Good idea," Praris gave a perfunctory nod, though she knew it wasn't true.
If Voldemort had been able to intervene, he wouldn't have chosen Draco, a psychologically vulnerable pawn.
Prarese believes Draco was behind it. She suspects the poison in the mead was something Narcissa was busy with during Christmas.
Draco served the mead before their conversation began. That's why he said Praris couldn't stop him.
But she didn't tell the truth.
Praris has been debating one thing: whether or not to tell the Order of the Phoenix about Draco's mission.
She was now walking across a narrow bridge, carrying a shoulder pole. Draco was on her left, and the Order of the Phoenix was on her right. One wrong move, and she would lose everything.
Emotionally, Prareas preferred to play dumb. Draco kept her identity and position a secret because of his love for her. How could Prareas possibly betray that love?
Rationally, Prarese should have spoken to Dumbledore, and the professor's warning might also imply Dumbledore's ulterior motives.
On one hand, Prareas's conversation with Draco might not be enough to completely bring him to his senses; she's not Odysseus! *On the other hand, Prareas is unwilling to let Death Eaters into the school. This could potentially threaten the lives of the students and catch the Order of the Phoenix off guard.
After that, Draco and Praris's relationship improved considerably.
During Potions class, Liam instinctively tried to sit next to Praris.
Since Prarese and Draco had their argument, their seating arrangement has remained the same: Prarese, Liam, Zabini, Theodore, and Draco.
Liam was an unremarkable student in Slytherin, and a half-blood at that. To make things more comfortable, he never mentioned it and would even mingle with the crowds who bullied Muggle wizards, joining in the shouts.
Liam often felt fortunate that other houses had Muggle wizards; otherwise, those extreme pure-bloods would surely have turned their guns on him, a half-Slytherin. He occasionally resented why, despite being a half-blood, he was still a Slytherin.
Praris is undoubtedly the top wizard in Slytherin.
Surprisingly, despite Prareas's notorious reputation, Liam found that she never brought up the topic of bloodlines or deliberately made things difficult for others.
Liam's only decent subject was Potions. But in reality, he initially studied Potions diligently to curry favor with Professor Snape and avoid being punished.
Ironically, over the course of six years, Professor Snape never gave this mediocre student a second glance, let alone punished him.
Sitting next to Praris was quite comfortable; she didn't hesitate to speak up when others asked for help, unless the other person was the reckless Zabini.
Before Liam's bottom even touched the chair, a pair of hands patted his shoulder from behind. He slowly turned around and saw Draco Malfoy looking down at him.
Malfoy looked down at him and said in a drawn-out tone, "How about we switch places?"
"I bet he didn't even remember either my last name or my first name!"
Liam thought angrily, then silently grabbed his bag and gave up his seat.
Prareas glanced at Liam, who had been forced to switch places, and his lips twitched slightly. He whispered to Draco, "How domineering. Liam doesn't look willing."
“Oh? I don’t think that matters.” Draco revealed his arrogant nature. “Do you and I make any real difference to him?”
Praliss said Draco was domineering, but wasn't Praliss arrogant as well? She didn't treat Liam as an equal at all, and she only refrained from making things difficult for him because there was no need to.
Compared to a true friend like Pansy, Prarese's kindness towards Liam was merely a casual act of bestowing his goodwill and reaping the favor of ordinary people; he had no intention of becoming friends with Liam.
Draco would dare say that Prares remembers the other person's name simply because he has a good memory.
The difference between Prareus and Draco is that the former has a powerful yet gentle gaze, while the latter has a harsh and arrogant contempt.
Prarese neither agreed nor stopped Draco from sitting down next to her.
When Zabini arrived and saw the two of them sitting together, he exclaimed in amazement, "I haven't had enough of your show yet!"
“Then I really feel sorry for you,” Praris said casually. “Next time, we’ll put up posters to promote it before the film is released.”
Zabini shrugged: "We'll see."
After class, Draco walked beside Praris, holding the strap of his bag in one hand.
