Because she wasn't feeling well, Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick assumed she was having some academic difficulties and kept her behind to talk.
Prarese never imagined that the professors actually cared about her.
She couldn't help but feel relieved that there was no potions class today, otherwise she would have received sharp criticism instead of care.
By the time Praris arrived at the cafeteria, many students had already finished eating.
Chapter 26 Black Magic
Fortunately, Hogwarts is different from the monastery; you won't miss out on food just because you arrive a little late.
Despite the tight lunch schedule, Praris still ordered a small bowl of Scottish fish soup with toast.
Hogwarts uses cod to make fish soup, which is very thick and rich, and Stella often orders it.
"It's a bit like Italian cream of mushroom soup, but with a fishy flavor," Stella enthusiastically recommended.
According to the believer who gifted her the poetry collection, British food is actually not very good.
But unfortunately, she's British and has eaten British food since childhood. Prarese sometimes dreams of traveling or working in other countries when she grows up, so she can experience a wider variety of cuisines, just like Anna Prince, whom she investigated.
"Everyone line up, Potter is about to hand out autographed photos!"
After finishing his meal, Praris heard Malfoy shouting loudly and leaned over the railing in the corridor to look down.
What autographed photo? Prarese thought that only Muggle concerts had such things, like those by George Michael or something.
"Hey Prince, do you want Potter's autograph too?" Malfoy shouted. "Then you'd better hurry up and come down, or you won't be able to beat Potter's fans!"
"I didn't!" Harry exclaimed, his face flushed with anger. "Malfoy, shut up!"
A little boy next to Potter shouted in a shrill voice, "You're jealous! You're jealous of Harry!"
Praris crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at the farce unfolding below.
Prarese couldn't see through those close to him, but he could see through others quite well: Malfoy was indeed jealous of Harry Potter.
This Slytherin boy was arrogant and haughty, naturally resenting others being more famous than him. But his heart was also fragile and vulnerable; if exposed, he would panic and run away.
Therefore, Malfoy was keen on provoking and suppressing Porter, but unfortunately Porter didn't understand the trick and could only stand there and refute.
Arguing is useless, Potter. Talking is Malfoy's forte. If you suddenly attacked him now, Malfoy would probably panic and trip over himself.
Prarese narrowed her eyes as she saw Weasley pull out his wand, and then her own hand touched it as well.
Huh? You want to make a move?
Pralis began searching for spells she knew, even though she didn't like Malfoy, Slytherin couldn't be bullied under her nose.
"What's going on? What's going on?" a loud voice rang out. "Who's handing out autographed photos!"
Praris silently put his wand away, feeling uneasy.
She didn't want to take action, but if Lockhart were the teacher who came, she actually felt a little tempted to do so.
Praris admitted that she was simply taking her anger out on Milison, and that the direct trigger for her conflict with Milison was this "most charming wizard."
Good heavens, he was even pointing fingers and making noise during Ms. Sprout's class! Did he think this was his Defense Against the Dark Arts class?
Lockhart flashed his "most charming" smile and wrapped an arm around Harry: "A photo of the two of us, it couldn't be better!"
As for Potter, who was tucked under Lockhart's arm? He looked like he had accurately tasted the only jelly-flavored bean out of a thousand.
Prareas thought Porter didn't want to take pictures at all, but now he had no choice.
She couldn't help but laugh; Potter had a certain amount of dignity. He didn't want to stand out, but he'd been put on such a high pedestal that all sorts of troubles came knocking on his door.
By the time Praris came downstairs, the Gryffindor students had already left, since the first class of the afternoon, Defense Against the Dark Arts, was theirs.
"Prince, you missed your chance to take a picture with Potter!" Malfoy laughed heartily. "Did you see his face? Now he's going to become famous again."
Since last semester, whenever Malfoy has accomplished something, he loves to come and show off in front of her, as if to say: Look, am I amazing?
Prarese, a well-versed child psychology expert, continued walking towards the common room while offering a merciless witty remark: "He must be extremely annoyed."
"Who told him to love showing off? Now he can show off to his heart's content!" Malfoy continued, "I have to admit that Lockhart is somewhat useful; at least he can keep Potter feeling uncomfortable."
That's right.
Malfoy was still rambling on when Praris couldn't hold back any longer and gestured to Pansy with his eyes.
You crush, it's none of your business!
Pansy glared back: "If only he would listen to me!"
Praris glared at her: "You don't care about him, you have to care about my life or death, sister!"
“Praris!” Pansy said, “Let’s go back quickly, can you help me see which of my new dresses looks best?”
Malfoy was a little surprised: "You actually wanted to discuss this with her?"
“Is something wrong?” Praris frowned.
Malfoy said, "I can't imagine you discussing these things, Prince and skirts?"
Where did this stereotype come from?! Praris sighed, facepalming.
Pansy covered her mouth and laughed: "Draco, Millison's headband was made by Praris. She knows a lot about these things, she can even sew clothes. Let's go!"
Prarese turned around and saw Malfoy looking at him with an incredulous expression.
“What does he mean? Do I look out of place in all this?” Prarese couldn’t help but ask Pansy.
Pansy shook her head, looking like she wanted to laugh: "Someone once said you were the female version of the professor."
In Slytherin, there is only one person who is addressed as "Professor" without any formalities, and that is Severus Snape.
"Really? The gap between me and the professor is so huge!" Praris was greatly shocked.
Prarese's nose was quite prominent, unlike the professor's hooked nose. She already had thick eyebrows and deep-set eyes, which were made even more pronounced by malnutrition. The professor's complexion was yellowish, while Prarese was pale and bloodless.
In any case, Prareas felt that he had little in common with Professor Snape.
Pansy seemed to be recalling something: "It's not the resemblance, it's the vibe. Look in the mirror, when you glare at someone, when you have a serious face, when you're thinking, you're a bit like Professor Snape. Anyway, apart from Draco and Millison, no one else dares to mess with you at these times. Also, you all have black hair and black eyes, don't you?"
"My black hair is turning yellow."
Praris's malnutrition was also reflected in her hair, which began to turn yellowish at the ends.
However, Hogwarts took good care of her, and her newly grown hair was all black.
Pansy waved her hands dismissively: "Perhaps your IQ is on par with the professor's."
Around 3 p.m. is the time for Slytherin's Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
The Gryffindors in the corridor had strange expressions, their clothes were a bit messy, many of them were covered in dust, and some even had ink stains on them.
"Merlin!" Pansy exclaimed in surprise, "Was this class... uh, exciting?"
"Did they fight in the classroom?" Prareas found it hard to believe his own analysis. "It's like they fought in the classroom, maybe even rolled around on the floor, and maybe even used ink bottles as weapons. Does anyone else think Longbottom's clothes look like someone hung him up for public display?"
A Gryffindor girl looked at her as if she had seen a ghost.
"What was that expression on her face?" Praris asked, puzzled.
She remembered that the girl's name was Parvati, and that she was of Indian descent.
Malfoy suddenly appeared out of nowhere: "Prince, we have to forgive some people whose brains are not of the same breed as ours."
But the Slytherins never got to attend the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
The classroom door remained closed, and everyone waited for a long time before Lockhart finally came out.
His clothes were a little disheveled, and his smile was a bit stiff. He announced that the class was temporarily canceled.
Since she had already left, Praris didn't plan to go back. She simply took out the extra paper assignment from her professor from her handbag and headed towards the office.
“Miss Praris, I’m so glad you remembered you had a professor so many days into the semester. I almost thought my letter had never been sent.”
Prarese had already let the professor's words go in one ear and out the other. If you were also subjected to such criticism for a semester, you would also find these words insignificant.
She sat at the end of the table and began washing the crucible, the stirring rod, and various other things.
Professor Snape, on the other end, flipped through the document while asking questions, making corrections, and speaking sarcastically.
When the sky turned orange—of course, you couldn't see the sky's color from Professor Snape's office; you had to go outside to see it—this nitpicking session finally came to an end.
“Miss, if I haven’t grown old and forgotten, there’s a class at 3 p.m. in the second year of Slytherin,” Snape suddenly turned around and said.
Praris capped the potion bottle and said hesitantly, "Yes, that's right, it's Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Something unexpected happened in the last class, and Professor Lockhart announced that the class would be temporarily canceled."
“Ha,” Snape said, his face full of sarcasm. “As expected. I don’t want to speak ill of my colleagues, but we have to admit that not just anyone can be a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.”
That's not wrong, but aren't you already talking badly about your colleagues?
Snapped!
Several books were tossed in front of Praris.
"Instead of relying on Lockhart—ha, look at these instead; at least you won't become a grinning fool."
Praris reached out, flipped through a couple of pages, and his lips twitched slightly: "These...professors?"
“You’ll take good care of them, won’t you? I don’t want them in anyone else’s hands.” Snape rolled up Prareas’s homework as well and tossed it to her. “The notes are in your homework. Put it back in the library after you’re done.”
Prarese walked out the door in a daze; Snape had given her three books on dark magic.
Yes, it's a book about black magic, not a book about defense against the black magic.
Although these appear to be beginner-level books, they are clearly books on black magic.
Has she now risen to a position of close confidante among the professors?
Praris decided to cover the three books with book covers first, just in case something really happens.
After a while, she suddenly realized that perhaps Snape had recognized the quality of her paper. He felt that she was now qualified to explore further topics.
“Prareth is here! Theodore, say that again!” Pansy said excitedly.
Nott didn't seem too keen to repeat himself, but Pansy was enthusiastic.
"Alright, alright. That good-for-nothing professor caught a cage of Cornish elves, maybe he wanted to show off his skills, who knows? In the end, the elves wrecked his classroom, beat up all the Gryffindors, and even hung Longbottom from the chandelier."
Nott raised his right eyebrow and chuckled twice.
Pansy gave Praris a whack on the left shoulder: "Just like you said, the Gryffindors had a real brawl, hahaha. I admit I'm starting to admire him!"
