Professor Prince gave me a look that said, "You're not stupid after all." He replied, "Theoretically, it's possible, but I'm usually fair and impartial. Let's see how you perform!"
Every single sentence of this statement is full of flaws!
“What if I can’t do it!” James asked eagerly. “Then you won’t give it back to me?”
“Mr. Potter, that’s a possibility.” Prince even nodded. “You could have your parents ask me for it, and maybe I’ll give it to them.”
Praris gave a smile as gentle as Altani's, which was particularly ironic: "Mr. Potter, I taught you, didn't I? Don't make a move when you don't know your opponent."
"If you pay a little attention, you'll get some inside information from your seniors: you shouldn't go out on Tuesday nights because it's my turn to be on duty. And Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights are obviously much safer because I have to go home for the weekend, hmm?"
Jaime only dared to take the risk because of the Invisibility Cloak, right? Who would have thought this witch could even see through it! Now she's even teaching him when it's appropriate to go out at night! Does he still dare to go out at night? His "hostage" is still in her hands!

“So—” Mrs. Willow drawled, “you’re a witch?”
She gasped and leaned back on the sofa: "What did Dr. Johnson say?"
“Great,” Winnie replied instinctively. “We can adjust the dosage now.”
Prarese tugged at Winnie's pajamas, reminding her, "Winnie—Mrs. Willow isn't asking about that!"
The children understood that Mrs. Willow thought Sylvia had relapsed, and this time she was having bizarre imaginations and hallucinations.
“I am fully conscious now,” Sylvia said solemnly.
Mrs. Willow disagreed: "You often say that when you're having an attack."
“But Winnie isn’t sick,” Sylvia said.
She was out of options and could only bring up the idea of Winnie, a normal adult... but that doesn't necessarily mean she's normal.
Winnie had to testify for her mentally unstable sister: "Yes, yes, we really are witches, including little Poppy. Our laws prevent us from casually revealing witchcraft to Muggles—that is, you, someone without magic."
Mrs. Willow still didn't believe it: "Then why are you telling me now?"
“Because you’ve been living with us all this time!” Winnie explained. “We couldn’t tell you, otherwise it would be a violation of the secrecy law, but if you can keep this secret, no one will find out that we’ve leaked it, right? Poppy, show us!”
As Praris turned her head, a lily in a vase in the living room bloomed.
Mrs. Willow was taken aback: "This is...this is...what if I can't keep this secret?"
Winnie shrugged: "So nothing happened today."
“That’s not fair,” Mrs. Willow said.
“It’s very unfair,” Winnie said sharply. “But was the witch trials fair?”
Mrs. Willow asked in bewilderment, "If the witch truly possessed great power, then why was she burned?"
“Skilled adult wizards are no big deal, of course, they have the Fire Condensation Charm!” Winnie sighed, thinking of her history of magic assignments. “But there are children. Not every young wizard is as clever as Poppy. Children are discovered, but they don’t have the ability to protect themselves…”
“Then…you can keep it from me forever!” Mrs. Willoughby said matter-of-factly. “Anyway, I’m not very bright; I haven’t found out yet, and I probably won’t find out in the future. What if I’m a bad person?”
Sylvia said softly, "Mrs. Willow, you're worried about us—would a bad person say such a thing?"
“Bad people can pretend to be good people!” Mrs. Willow said, as if to say, “You young people are so ignorant.” “What if I’m faking it! Gaining your trust and then harming you!”
Sylvia countered Mrs. Willow's words: "What if I was wandering around in the snowy night to take advantage of your pregnant appearance and gain your sympathy, and Winnie and the taxi driver were my accomplices?"
The London wind made the curtains flutter inside and the newly blooming lilies tremble—it was a rare and beautiful day.
Sylvia tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her gaze unwavering: "You dared to save a complete stranger like me, how could I not trust you who have been with us for so long?"
“Besides—” Winnie said with a grin, “Hill is a fortune teller, we’ve checked, and you’re a good person!”
Mrs. Willow was just about to pull out her handkerchief to wipe her tears when Winnie interrupted her.
"This counts?" Mrs. Willow said in surprise.
“She’s talking nonsense.” Sylvia pushed her best friend away and said helplessly, “I haven’t done a divination in a long time. When my emotions are too volatile, the result of the divination will be completely dominated by inspiration. It may point directly to the true destiny, or it may fool the diviner.”
“When I was a student, I liked to calculate myself and the people around me,” Sylvia explained very seriously to Mrs. Willow. “As I grew older, I stopped doing that. It’s disrespectful to others, bad for myself, inaccurate, and influenced by emotions.”
Sylvia always had this attitude.
She wouldn't treat her daughter like a child and disrespect her, nor would she assume it was okay for Mrs. Willow to be ignorant just because she was a Muggle.
This might seem remarkable, but she simply treats people as human beings. However, this also makes her prone to naiveté, unaware that some people are not human at times.
Mrs. Willow seemed to understand, but not quite. She asked, "Then do you have any way to keep me from telling anyone? What if I... I fall asleep and talk in my sleep, and someone hears me?"
"Don't you sleep alone?" Winnie opened her mouth, blinked, and looked very puzzled. "Who could hear you?"
Mrs. Willow said, "What if a thief breaks into my house and hears me talking in my sleep, and finds out that you are witches?"
“That would be too much of a possibility,” Winnie said.
Sylvia couldn't help but laugh. She wiped away her tears of laughter, waved her hand, and said, "It's okay, the thief will just think you're daydreaming!"
"What about Poppy?" Mrs. Willow began to worry again. "Oh dear, what if I send her to school and she's discovered to be a witch, arrested, and burned?"
Sylvia could only comfort Mrs. Willow: "Puby is very smart, she knows how to protect herself... Aren't you worried that we might hurt you?"
“I know what kind of people you are!” Mrs. Willow said.
Sylvia smiled as brightly as the rare sunshine outside the window: "I know what kind of person you are!"
Let's rewind to one day earlier.
Sylvia told Winnie that she was determined to reveal her true identity to Mrs. Willow.
"This violates the secrecy law," Winnie said pragmatically. "Mrs. Willow didn't know in the past, and it didn't cause any harm. Why make things complicated now?"
She didn't think Mrs. Willow would leak the secret; rather, she was simply adopting a "better safe than sorry" attitude.
"I used to think so too." Sylvia's face was filled with melancholy, like a gloomy London day. "Then I realized that it was just because I didn't believe enough. Even if there were a million reasons why he would accept it, subconsciously I still didn't think William would accept my identity as a witch."
Winnie was confused: "Then why did you marry that Muggle?"
"Then why did you believe the mysterious man?" Sylvia turned to Winnie. "We're all gamblers. The slightest chance of success makes us bet everything, thinking that fate will be on our side... but the truth is, we lose everything."
However, Winnie was doing it for her magical ideals, while Sylvia was doing it for her feelings.
Winnie fell silent. Only her best friend truly understood her, and only her best friend was truly like her.
She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes: "Then why are you still gambling?"
"I didn't gamble," Sylvia shook her head slightly, regaining her composure. "And I won't gamble again."
Blind courage only leads to death; it lacks foundation and will generate countless self-doubts in every moment afterward. But this was not the case when facing Mrs. Willow.
Mrs. Willow was a truly kind person; she reached out to Sylvia when they first met without considering whether she was a bad person or had any ill intentions.
So even knowing that Sylvia is a witch and being unable to accept it, her kindness would prevent her from betraying them.
Sylvia had already suffered at Depp's hands, and she was unwilling to keep it from Mrs. Willow any longer. She was willing to place her trust in Mrs. Willow and was prepared to bear all the consequences.
Back to today, Mrs. Willow is very happy.
"Oh dear, you're making me blush." Mrs. Willow raised her hands. "Alright, since you all trust me so much, I'll make you some local specialties from my hometown!"
The topic shifted so quickly it almost hurt my back.
Mrs. Willow was beaming with excitement, ready to show off her skills.
But eventually everyone ended up in the kitchen, including Praris. Sylvia even gave her daughter a job: washing strawberries, which involved simply shaking them in the water.
In the end, they also entrusted Praris with the important task of arranging the strawberries, allowing Praris to participate in the "work" from beginning to end.
"Great job!"
Sylvia kissed Praris on the forehead, and to be fair, Praris asked Sylvia to squat down a little so she could kiss her mother's forehead too.
Hearing that wizards could fly on broomsticks, Mrs. Willow decided to let Prairie try the Muggle sport of flying too. So, during the summer holidays, the whole family went to Staffordshire for a trip, mainly planning to visit Alton Towers amusement park.
On the day of our trip, the sun was so intense it seemed to want to scorch people. Although there were many clouds in the sky, they were all illuminated in a very three-dimensional way, looking like cotton candy.
Winnie put a hat with drawstrings on Praris, braided and tied her hair, and handed her the newly bought camera.
This is the QuickSnap camera, which has become popular in recent years. The Muggle salesman said it's a good camera that even a fool can use.
Winnie didn't quite understand why Muggles would insult her like that, but if fools could be used, children obviously could too, especially since their Pubi was so smart!
“Your mother and I are witches, and Mrs. Willow is getting old,” Winnie said with a grin, “so the task of learning to take pictures with a Muggle camera is yours—young man!”
“You’re slacking off,” Praris blinked, exposing Winnie’s laziness. “You’re the young one, I’m still a child!”
Winnie immediately retorted, "But I grew up as a witch—I don't know anything about Muggles, so I'm counting on you, baby!"
Praris was at a loss with Winnie. He took out the instruction manual, glanced at it, and gave Winnie's retreating figure a strange look. Could it be…? That can't be right. Winnie is a famous author; there's no reason for her to be so foolish!
“There are scary legends about this place!” Mrs. Willow said. “This playground used to be a garden, and in the garden there was a two-hundred-year-old castle that belonged to a cursed family whose members died one after another… Winnie, is this magic?”
What?! There's an exam?! Winnie was shocked.
“Well, there are indeed some special curses that can be passed down through family bloodlines.” Winnie, true to form, wasn’t afraid of impromptu tests. “For example, a blood curse can be passed from mother to child, but it doesn’t necessarily lead to death. It could have other effects… like a living hell?”
Sylvia covered her face: "Say less!"
"Oh!" Mrs. Willow exclaimed, a little frightened. "Wouldn't it be very dangerous for us to go to Alton Tower?"
Winnie waved her hand: "So many people went to that amusement park, and no one died. Besides, since it's a family bloodline transmission, what does it have to do with us? Don't worry, if anything happens, we'll protect you!"
Mrs. Willow was relieved and in a good mood, so she went to buy ice cream with Sylvia.
While they were getting ice cream, Prarese tugged at Winnie's sleeve, and Winnie looked down at her, saying, "Baby, you've grown up, I can't pick you up anymore."
“That’s not it!” Praris asked, tilting her head back. “Mrs. Willow isn’t a wizard, so knowing these things is useless to her. Why do you all explain them so earnestly every time?”
Why not just say "this is fake"?
“Fear comes from the unknown!” Winnie said. “Muggles are afraid of ghosts and monsters because they don’t know what kind of danger they will encounter. If they knew what was going on, they would only need to think about what to do or how to avoid it, and there would be no need to be afraid.”
Prarese understood; this was why her mother had explained the wizard to Mrs. Willow so earnestly. To Mrs. Willow, the wizard was no longer the freakish, pointed-nosed man brewing potions underground, but rather a young girl beside her who was no different from herself.
Similarly, if Praris is afraid of anything in the future, she just needs to find out. Once she understands what's going on, there's nothing to be afraid of.
Mrs. Willow and Sylvia returned with ice cream, saying hurriedly, "Eat it quickly, it'll melt in this heat."
Praris hesitated a bit about which flavor to choose. Sylvia knew her well and asked for a small wooden spoon while making the ice cream, scooping out small amounts for her to try. In the end, she decided on vanilla.
Alton Towers is most famous for The Blade, a spiral roller coaster that shoots you out like water flushing a toilet—"Enough! Winnie, stop describing it!"
Sylvia was at her wits' end with Winnie. She was a mature adult, while her companion Winnie was still a childish kid, making her feel like she was taking care of two children.
