The computer screen emitted a faint glow.

Lin Mu had been staring at the little figure wearing the Soul Armor on the screen for seven whole days.

For seven days and seven nights, when he was hungry he would eat a couple of bites of cold instant noodles, and when he was sleepy he would pinch the tenderest flesh on the inside of his thighs. He refused to believe that he really couldn't get into this broken Corpse King's Palace today.

3:17 a.m.

The Taoist priest on the screen finally collapsed. In the black and white image, a sorcerer dressed in a demon robe walked over his corpse, with a line of white text floating above his head: "Trash, get out of the way."

Lin Mu remained silent for three seconds.

Then slowly release the mouse and bury your face in your palms.

Summon divine beasts.

Summon Divine Beasts, a skill that can only be learned at level 35.

This is the official server of Legend of Mir 100. He waited outside the Corpse King's Palace for seven days and seven nights for this damn book.

Seven days.

He had camped out at the Corpse King's Palace at 5 a.m., at 3 a.m., and on New Year's Eve. He had seen queues stretching all the way to Snake Valley at the entrance of the Corpse King's Palace, and he had also seen fights break out over spots, sometimes escalating to the point where the police had to be called in.

But I've never seen that dog book.

Lin Mu leaned back in his chair, staring at the piece of plaster on the ceiling that was about to fall off, and suddenly felt very tired.

Watch a movie and relax for a while.

The Nine-Rank Magistrate.

That's it.

He'd watched Stephen Chow's movies at least eighty or a hundred times, and could recite the lines backwards. But right now, he didn't want to use his brain; he just wanted some noise, some human voice in this cramped rented room.

The movie progress bar is one-third full.

As Bao Longxing's father was chanting "Corrupt officials must be cunning, but honest officials must be even more cunning" in the mourning hall, Lin Mu's eyelids were already starting to droop. Seven days without much sleep—even someone made of iron couldn't withstand that.

He leaned his head back in the chair, preparing to close his eyes and rest for a while.

The screen then switched to Chang Wei.

Chang Wei is hitting Lai Fu.

"As soon as I came in, I saw Chang Wei beating up Lai Fu..."

Lin Mu mumbled a sentence along, a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.

Then everything went black before his eyes.

A kind of blackness where you can't even feel where your own eyelids are.

Lin Mu's heart skipped a beat.

It’s over.

He died suddenly?

A 27-year-old programmer died suddenly in his rented apartment, and his body was not discovered until three days later by his landlord who was chasing him for rent.

He even came up with the trending headline for the editor: "Heartbreaking! Young man dies suddenly after playing games all night; experts warn: staying up late is very harmful."

wrong.

He can still think about these things, so he must not be dead, right?

Lin Mu tried moving his fingers.

active.

Try opening your eyes again.

My eyelids felt as heavy as lead, and it took a lot of effort to open them even a crack.

The ground before him was a dusty gray, compacted soil, full of potholes, with a few withered yellow grasses peeking out from the cracks. Less than half a foot from his face, a dog lay prone.

The dog remained motionless.

A man was standing next to the dog.

The man, dressed in ancient costume, was kicking the dog repeatedly.

"..."

Lin Mu froze.

He slowly turned his eyes and glanced to the side. Not far away, a mourning hall was set up, white cloth fluttering, and a dark coffin could be vaguely seen.

Let's look further ahead.

The man who kicked the dog had thick eyebrows and big eyes, and a righteous look on his face. Yet, his kicking posture was incredibly skillful, clearly indicating that he was an expert.

Chang Wei.

When I woke up, I saw Chang Wei beating up Lai Fu!

Lin Mu's heart skipped a beat.

"I'll teach you to steal food! I'll teach you to steal food!"

Chang Wei kicked Lai Fu twice more, and Lai Fu stopped moving completely.

Lin Mu kept his eyes tightly shut, not daring to breathe.

Playing dead.

I have to play dead.

Lin Mu suppressed his breathing to the shallowest level, tensing all his muscles like a fully drawn bowstring.

Footsteps.

Chang Wei's footsteps.

One, two, three...

He passed by him.

Lin Mu breathed a slight sigh of relief, but before he could catch his breath, he heard a voice behind him: "This one is also a servant of the Qi family. Let's deal with him as well."

Lin Mu's back instantly broke out in a layer of white sweat.

He felt someone approaching, bent down, grabbed his ankle, and began to drag him.

The ground was so hard it hurt his back, but he gritted his teeth and remained motionless, not even daring to move his eyes.

I don't know how much time passed before the tow truck stopped.

He was thrown onto something soft and fluffy, like straw.

Suddenly, someone pried open his mouth.

Something cold pressed against his lips, followed by a thick, bitter liquid that poured down his throat.

The liquid was thick and cold, like a bowl of cooled paste, flowing down the esophagus and leaving a trail of burning pain.

Lin Mu tried to struggle and vomit, but his body wouldn't obey him. He didn't know if he had been acupunctured or drugged, but he couldn't even move his fingers.

You can only swallow it.

bowl.

A whole bowl.

It's finished.

The footsteps faded into the distance.

The sound of the door closing.

Lin Mu lay there, feeling as if something was slowly gnawing at his stomach. The burning sensation spread from his stomach, along his blood vessels, to his limbs, and wherever it went, it felt like being branded with a hot iron.

……

I don't know how much time has passed.

Lin Mu suddenly opened his eyes, sat up, and gasped for breath.

Before me was not a mourning hall, nor a haystack, but an unfamiliar room.

antique.

The carved wooden windows, covered with paper, let in a soft, hazy light. The bed was a canopy bed, draped with blue curtains, and the bedding was silk, smooth and slippery, embroidered with delicate, subtle patterns. Against the wall stood a desk with writing brushes, ink, paper, and an inkstone, as well as a celadon incense burner from which wisps of smoke curled.

The room was filled with a faint sandalwood scent.
