Besides, military ranks and positions aren't that important in the Navy, are they? Garp is just a Vice Admiral at the Headquarters, but who can say he has no say?
Besides, don't forget, last year I shed blood for the great Roswald family, risked my life to save the great God, although... they still died.”
Rorschach pursed his lips, and under Kuzan's unfriendly gaze, sat up straight and continued, "As for having Nico Robin contact the Revolutionary Army, if I may be so bold, Uncle Kuzan, I'd like to ask you a personal question, if that's alright?"
"Personal issues? What personal issues?" Kuzan looked suspiciously at Rorschach's increasingly lewd smile.
"Well... cough cough," Rorschach chuckled dryly, "what exactly is the relationship between you and Nico Robin?"
"What relationship?" Kuzan was getting more and more confused.
"Hey, let me be blunt, do you see Nico Robin as a wife or a daughter?"
Kuzan's face was as black as charcoal, and he silently conjured a gleaming ice saber in his hand.
The military knife, exuding a chilling aura, was wreathed in terrifying domineering energy, causing Rorschach to swallow hard and move slightly away from Kuzan.
"If you keep spouting nonsense, believe me, I'll freeze you into an ice cube and throw you into the Calm Belt to feed the sea kings!"
"sorry!"
Luo Xia promptly apologized and then explained his thoughts.
"As far as Nico Robin's identity is concerned, rather than letting her continue to stay on the sea, seeking refuge with unreliable pirates who may even covet her beauty and value, and constantly putting her in danger, it would be better to send her to a place where she will absolutely not be harmed."
The Revolutionary Army, on the other hand, is clearly a perfect fit for her; as far as I know, they have been searching for her all along.
Luo Xia looked at Kuzan seriously, "Uncle Kuzan, I know you've been closely watching her growth, afraid she'll go astray, afraid she'll encounter danger, caring for her like an old father... cough cough, in that case, why not let her go where she belongs, where she can realize her value?"
Kuzan frowned. "How do you know all this?"
Rorschach's eyes darted around. "Nicole Robin said it herself."
"You think I'd believe that?" Kuzan's ice saber grew a little longer.
Rorschach protested, "I didn't lie to you, Uncle Kuzan. She said it herself. I was full of murderous intent at the time, which scared her so much that she turned pale. So she readily confessed the illicit friendship she had with you. If you don't believe me, you can contact her and question her face to face."
Kuzan remained silent.
Luo Xia smiled inwardly.
Kuzan decided to pretend he hadn't said anything.
If Kuzan doesn't believe it, he'll have to contact Robin. Robin's current identity is that of a Revolutionary Army member. If the Five Elders find out that a Marine Admiral is contacting the Revolutionary Army, he's doomed.
And so, Kuzan was silenced once again by Rorschach's rambling words.
After a long while, he sheathed the ice saber in his hand, lay back down in the rattan chair, and left with a single sentence.
"Stay away from any shady dealings with the revolutionary army. If the higher-ups find out, you're finished, and we can't protect you either."
"Understood, thanks for reminding me, Uncle Kuzan."
Seeing that Kuzan had sheathed his sword, Luo Xia breathed a sigh of relief and lay down as well.
The air on the deck was quiet. Rorschach stroked his chin and pondered for a while. Unable to suppress his curiosity, he cautiously turned his head and glanced at Kuzan, who was resting with his eyes closed.
"Uncle Kuzan, are you married? I heard from Hibari that the reason Vice Admiral Gion didn't accept Vice Admiral Kake's marriage proposal was because there was another man in her heart..."
"Hey, Uncle Kuzan, are you blushing? Could it be that the man in Vice Admiral Gion's heart is really..."
"You little brat, are you never going to stop?" Kuzan's forehead bulged with a vein, he couldn't take it anymore, he waved his hand and unleashed a burst of extremely cold air, freezing Luo Xia into an ice sculpture, then reached out and grabbed Luo Xia's face and threw him off the deck of the Kirin.
"Fist bone! Falling from the seabed!"
Chapter 368 Drake! You Navy Traitor!
Sabaody Archipelago, Mangrove Zone 66.
On the newly renovated and extremely wide and solid central avenue, Drake, dressed in tight leather armor, with an axe and a sword at his waist and a large, snow-white cloak of justice draped behind him, swaggered down the middle of the road with a large group of flustered subordinates following behind him, heading straight for the new Naval Base No. 66.
As the naval base gate drew ever closer, the bearded pirate following closely behind Drake finally couldn't contain his panic. He leaned closer to Drake and whispered urgently, "Captain Drake, are you sure everything's alright? Are we really going to just walk into a naval base like this, all high and mighty?"
"What could possibly be wrong?" Drake's expression remained unchanged, and he even had the leisure to nod to the naval soldiers standing guard outside the base gate.
"But...but we're pirates!" The bearded man was truly panicked.
As a seasoned pirate who has been roaming the Paradise for several years, what kind of situation hasn't he experienced?
Slaughter, plunder, naval battles, escapes—Big Beard has lost count of how many times he has narrowly escaped death.
But he had never experienced the situation he was in before.
Following the captain in front of them, whom they had only known for less than half a year but who possessed formidable strength, they entered the Sabaody Naval Base openly and legitimately.
Moreover, it was rebuilt, and it is said that there is a base there guarded by a veteran naval vice admiral.
If my identity is exposed, wouldn't I be surrounded and wiped out by the navy stationed here in no time?
It's important to understand that the Sabaody Archipelago is not in the chaotic state it was a year ago, with various factions vying for power.
Since the World Nobles were attacked here, martial law on this huge mangrove island has been raised to the highest level.
Although it is still inevitable that some dark forces will infiltrate the island, such as pirates who openly or secretly cooperate with the World Government, slave ships, merchants who smuggle tobacco and alcohol, and the ubiquitous entertainment district.
However, with a large number of naval patrols at all times, these forces, large and small, have long lost their former arrogance and domineering attitude.
If you want to continue living and doing business here, you have to be careful.
Drake paused, glanced back at the hundreds of pirates behind him, and patted his distinctive military uniform.
"Don't worry, don't forget my current identity. I'm still a Rear Admiral in the Marine Headquarters. Remember, you are now my soldiers, not pirates. When you see Vice Admiral Lackval later, you'd better be on your guard."
I've received word that the warehouse at Base 66 just received taxes from those merchants, amounting to at least a billion Berries. If we can get that money, we'll escape to Paradise and get as far away from here as possible.
Just think about it, that's a billion peggs! We'd have everything we wanted then!
Pirates are indeed a money-grubbing group, willing to risk their lives for it.
Upon hearing Drake mention that there was a staggering sum of over a billion Berries in the base ahead, everyone's eyes lit up and their breathing quickened.
The greedy desire for money suppressed the unease in his heart, and for a moment, he even forgot his fear.
Drake kept a straight face as he observed the various expressions on his underlings' faces. It wasn't until he entered the base's courtyard and saw a giant sitting on a stone stool, feasting on a meal, that a bright smile appeared on his face, and he strode forward.
"Lieutenant General Lakwal! It's been a long time."
Lieutenant General Lakval, who was engrossed in eating, was a typical giant with a towering, mountain-like physique.
He was over twelve meters tall, and just sitting there, he was like a small mountain, radiating a suffocating pressure that sent chills down the spines of the pirates following Drake, jolting them out of their greedy thirst for money.
Seeing Drake striding towards him, Lieutenant General Lakwal's eyes lit up. He put down the meat patty he was holding and burst into laughter:
"Hahaha, Drake, what brings you here? Weren't you doing just fine at Marine Headquarters? I heard that Fleet Admiral Sengoku is planning to send you to the G2 branch as base commander, is that true?"
Drake pulled out a chair and sat down next to Lakwal. Without any hesitation, he picked up a plate of meat and started eating, chuckling wryly as he ate:
“Lieutenant General Lakwal, please stop making fun of me. What have I done to deserve being sent to G2 as the base commander? The highest-ranking officer there is Lieutenant General Gumir, and my current qualifications and abilities are far inferior to his.”
As he spoke, Drake turned to the side and waved to his subordinates who were standing there dumbfounded.
"What are you all standing there for? Hurry up and fill Lieutenant General Lakval's glass with the good wine I brought!"
"Yes Yes!"
The pirates snapped out of their daze, suppressing their panic, and quickly carried the barrels of wine they were holding to Lacval.
Someone opened the barrel and poured a full glass of golden liquor, exuding a rich aroma, into the huge goblet placed in front of Lakval.
Lakwal's nostrils twitched, and his eyes suddenly lit up.
"Good wine!"
He grabbed a wine glass on the table, which was as big as a wine barrel, and gulped down the wine in one go. He let out a satisfied burp, stretched out his large, fan-like hand, and patted Drake's shoulder hard. The chair Drake was sitting on creaked under the weight, as if it might collapse at any moment.
"Drake, not bad, this liquor is good, strong enough! Come on, let's drink!"
He laughed loudly, ignoring the pirates around him who were pouring him more drinks. He reached out, grabbed a large barrel, opened it, poured Drake a glass, and then poured the rest into his own mouth.
"I'm glad Lieutenant General Lakwal is satisfied. Come on, drink!"
Drake also smiled and raised his glass.
The two men went back and forth, eating meat and drinking wine, chatting and laughing in the Naval Base No. 66, but they were not at all happy.
Lakwal truly lived up to his reputation as a giant; his capacity for both alcohol and food was astonishing.
Drake brought dozens of barrels of strong liquor, which almost got him drunk.
Fortunately, Lakwal had already drunk quite a bit.
The drinking session lasted until evening, ending with Lieutenant General Lakval falling fast asleep on the table.
The pirates, who had been waiting patiently for half the day, were almost asleep.
Drake shook his dizzy head, stood up, and led the group of pirates toward the base warehouse with practiced ease.
A dozen minutes later, a sharp whistle rang out in Naval Base 66, startling Lakwal from his drowsy sleep.
As soon as he looked up, he saw hundreds of figures carrying large and small suitcases and sacks running out of the warehouse and heading towards the outside of the base.
Among that group of people, there was a familiar figure from behind, which made Lakwal's drowsy head feel a little confused.
"Drake? What happened?"
Just then, a large number of naval soldiers, armed with guns, rushed from the direction of the warehouse, shouting to Lakval, "It's terrible! Vice Admiral Lakval! The 1.2 billion Berries in tax revenue we just received yesterday has been stolen by Rear Admiral Drake and his men! He even injured the soldiers guarding the warehouse!"
"What?" Lakwal's eyes widened, and he roared in disbelief, "Say it again, who stole the money?"
"Drake! It's Major General Drake! There's no mistake, many people saw him!"
Lakwal looked at the barrels scattered on the ground, pressed his hand to his throbbing forehead, and instantly understood what was happening. His square face turned bright red.
He kicked the large table in front of him, shattering it into pieces. He then grabbed a large knife more than ten meters long from the ground and roared angrily in the direction Drake had run.
"Drake! What the hell are you doing, you little brat? Do you even know what you're doing?"
With a roar, Lakwal strode forward like a mad tiger, stomping his feet and landing with a thunderous thud. Grabbing his massive longsword, he led a large group of marines in a frenzied pursuit of Drake under the cover of twilight.
"Captain! They're coming! We're doomed! That's a vice admiral from Marine Headquarters, and a giant one at that!"
The bearded man carried a large bag of pewter berries on his back, his face filled with panic, and his words were choked with sobs.
Drake glanced at the burly man roaring as he chased after him, and subtly curled his lip.
The marshals of the Warring States period were really something.
