When the war between Hibari and Yamato's White Wolf Fleet and Hancock's Kuja Pirates reached its climax.
The Devil's Triangle.
This sea area, which is shrouded in endless fog all year round, welcomed three large 200-meter-class warships of the Navy a few days ago, as well as a large number of small reconnaissance boats.
At the bow of a warship, Smoker looked at the gray sky and sea before him, his brow furrowed with worry.
It's been two days.
Two days and two nights have passed since they were ordered to capture Moria and his pirate crew, but to this day, he, Drake, and Bepo have still not found any trace of Moria's Thriller Bark.
The Devil's Triangle is a vast area, and it is shrouded in fog year-round, with visibility being frighteningly low.
If an ordinary ship were to enter, it probably wouldn't even be able to tell its course.
Only about 20% of the ships that enter this area each year manage to pass through successfully.
Even so, they were incredibly lucky.
Other ships either ran aground and sank in the pitch-black fog, were capsized by storms, or were swallowed by sea monsters lurking in the fog.
Of course, Moria, that troublemaker, was also a major reason for the ship's disappearance.
Just like now, they sent a total of three warships, plus a hundred small reconnaissance ships. Such a huge force rushed into this vast sea of fog, but it was like a stone sinking into the sea.
Not only did they fail to find Moriah's terrifying three-masted ship, they also lost contact with more than a dozen reconnaissance ships in the process.
If it weren't for the Navy's internal Den Den Mushi (snail communication network), there would probably be even more people missing.
"Can't find him! Damn it! Where on earth has Moria gone?" Drake complained on the comms. "This guy is the most cowardly of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. It's incredibly easy for him to hide a ship in such a vast area as the Devil's Triangle. Finding him is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Before we even came to capture him, we should have had Headquarters find an excuse to just call Moria to a meeting at Headquarters."
Smoker lit two cigars, exhaled a puff of smoke, and sneered, "You think we didn't try? Didn't Brannew make up a reason to invite the new Seven Warlords of the Sea over for talks?"
"Oh? What did Moria and the others say?" Drake really didn't know about this.
"Moria said he wasn't qualified to let the Navy make decisions, and he didn't care at all about which Shichibukai we invited. Boa Hancock simply didn't answer the phone. As for Hawkeye, well, he directly exposed our excuse, saying that the Navy wanted to take down those Shichibukai, and bluntly stated that he was waiting for Rorschach to come over on Kuraigana Island for a battle."
Smoker's words stunned Drake, who remained silent for a long time.
"So what do we do? Keep looking?" Bepo's muffled voice came through the channel.
"We have no choice but to keep searching. Let's send out more scout ships." Smoker considered for a moment and made a decision. "If we still can't find him, we'll have Rorschach send Enel over, or even have Rorschach go himself. Their Observation Haki has an extremely wide range. They can probably find Moria after flying back and forth over the Devil's Triangle a few times. His ship is so big, I don't believe it can just disappear."
Drake sighed; that was the only way.
However, they really didn't want to bother Rorschach or Enel unless absolutely necessary.
Because if they did that, it would mean that their operation had failed before it even began, making their Blade Fleet appear incompetent compared to the other two teams, which was something they didn't want to see.
Smoker quickly ordered all the small reconnaissance ships aboard the three large warships to be deployed and search in all directions, while simultaneously communicating with the Navy Headquarters' intelligence department to obtain Moria's exact whereabouts directly from them.
Soon, another half day passed, and the large-scale search in the Devil's Triangle was still unsuccessful; Moria's Thriller Bark seemed to have vanished without a trace.
Just as Smoker and Drake gritted their teeth and were about to contact Rorschach, things took a turn for the better.
A Den Den Mushi (snail phone) called, requesting reinforcements from headquarters, explaining why they hadn't found Moria after searching for over two days.
The person who called via the Telephone Bug was Tina. She is now the base leader of the G2 branch in the Paradise Sea, responsible for managing the security of the chaotic sea area near Magic Valley Town.
Tina said that a few hours earlier, G2 patrol boats spotted Moonlight Moria's terrifying three-masted ship in the waters near St. Tin Island, the new capital of Alabasta, and their course was pointing toward St. Tin Island.
Since the navy is also responsible for the security of member states, the G2 patrol boat went forward to negotiate, hoping that the Shichibukai who had intruded into Alabasta's territorial waters would leave as soon as possible to avoid bad consequences.
However, to Tina's surprise, the G2 patrol boat that went to negotiate was immediately seized by the Thriller Bark, and the marines on board lost contact and their fate was unknown.
Tina immediately realized something was wrong and contacted Alabasta to inform Cobra about it.
Then, less than two hours later, Cobra sent a distress call to Tina, saying that Moonlight Moria and his zombie army had invaded St. Tin Island, and they were deploying the Kingdom's army to fight against them.
"Although Gecko Moria's strength is the weakest among the Seven Warlords of the Sea, I'm worried that even with G2's forces, they might not be able to handle him. Besides, even if I rush there at full speed, it will still take time. Smoker, Drake, how far are you from St. Ting Island? Can you get there before me?"
Tina asked somewhat anxiously.
Upon hearing her news, Smoker's expression immediately turned extremely ugly.
He clenched his fist and slammed it heavily on the gunwale in front of him. "Damn it! No wonder we couldn't find that bastard Moria anywhere. He ran off to Alabasta. Tina, things are getting bad. We're much farther from St. Ting Island than you are in G2. By the time we get there, things might have escalated to a point that Alabasta can't handle."
"What should we do? Saint Ting Island is right on the coast of Alabasta, and the Neferutari royal family is there. What if something happens there..." Tina panicked.
"Don't worry, I'll contact Luo Xia right away and see what he can do."
As Smoker spoke, he began dialing Rorschach's Den Den Mushi.
Three days ago, in the Devil's Triangle, on a sinister and terrifying three-masted sailboat, at the harbor resembling two rows of large teeth.
"Waaah, Lord Moria, please, don't send me away, I don't want to leave Thriller Bark."
On the sea off the port, Perona was forcibly pulled onto a small boat by Hogback, crying her heart out, tears streaming down her face like a kite with a broken string.
She even abandoned her beloved teddy bear, gripping the ship's railing tightly with both hands, and pleaded with Moria, who stood on the shore, not wanting to leave.
The tall, bulky Moria stood on the shore, his fierce face obscured by the darkness. In a calm yet authoritative voice, he said, "No, Perona, you must leave. Hogback will take you to a safe place where you can live a good life."
Hogback, standing nearby, glanced at the heartbroken Perona, then at the heartless Moria, shook his head almost imperceptibly, sighed, and took Perona's hand, saying:
“Perona, don’t be stubborn. Lord Moria has his reasons for making this arrangement. Come on, I’ll take you away from here. We’ll go to Cindy’s hometown together. I have a large manor there. The style of the manor is as gloomy as the castle on the ship. I think you will like it there, just like you liked the Thriller Bark.”
"No! I wouldn't like any other castle! This is my home!"
Perona tried to break free from Hogback's grasp, but she was no match for him. Immediately, a negative ghost emerged from her body and passed through Hogback's chest.
With a thud, Hogback's obese body fell to his knees, releasing his grip on Perona's hand. He braced his hands on the deck, pressing his massive head against it, his face filled with utter despair. "I...I'm sorry, I was presumptuous. I'm just trash, a bastard doctor with no medical ethics whatsoever. I don't deserve to live."
Perona broke free from him and ran to the bow of the ship, intending to disembark, but was blocked by several flying bat zombies.
She released several more negative ghosts, successfully turning the bat zombies extremely negative. Just as they were about to jump off the ship, a large hand formed from a dark shadow blocked them and gently pushed them back onto the deck.
Perona looked at Moria's raised right hand and the black shadow wall erected in front of her, her eyes filled with despair.
"Why? Why does Lord Moria want to send me away? Is it because he thinks I'm too weak?" Perona cried, feeling wronged.
"Yes, you're too weak. Staying on my ship will only be a hindrance." Moria's voice was cold, like a knife stabbing into Perona, making her face turn pale.
"I... I can train hard, I can become stronger, I will definitely be able to help Lord Moria, please don't send me away. This is my home, my only home, Lord Moria... I don't want to leave you." Perona cried, her eyes red.
Moria didn't look at her again and turned away.
"I don't need you. You're too weak and can't help me at all. Get out of here. I don't want to see you again."
The cold voice rang out, and Perona was utterly despairing. Her body went limp, and she collapsed onto the deck with a thud, staring blankly at Moria's tall figure as he left, and at the dark, gloomy castle in the distance.
Hogback snapped out of his extreme negativity, stood up, and quietly watched the scene, a look of desolation in his eyes.
"Take care, Lord Moria." His lips moved, but no sound came out.
As the small boat departed from the harbor of the Thriller Bark and disappeared completely into the hazy fog, Moria, who had reached the shadowy castle, slowly turned around.
His tall frame gradually hunched over, and he slumped helplessly to the ground, leaning against the castle damaged in the last battle, staring fixedly at the empty world before him.
"I'm sorry, Perona, I'm sorry. The one who's too weak isn't you, it's me. I'm too weak. I can't protect you, I can't protect Absalom, and I can't protect Hogback. I'm so useless. I can't protect anything. I'm just as useless as before."
His hands gripped the soil beside him, clenching the cold earth beneath him. His eyes widened in the darkness, becoming bloodshot.
"I knew it. Sooner or later, the Navy would take action against us opportunists. That kid is getting stronger and stronger, and the Navy's power is growing. That day has finally come."
Moria slowly rose from the ground, staring at the gray sky above with his bloodshot, red eyes. Suddenly, he raised his hands and roared.
"But I will not yield! If you want my life, let's see if you have the ability! Navy!"
"Men! Set sail! Head to Alabasta! Only by obtaining that thing can I become invincible!"
"Ooh-oh! I swear to follow the great Lord Moria to the death!"
On the deathly silent, terrifying three-masted ship, countless cheers suddenly erupted. Patched and broken bodies emerged from the mud and graves, raising their hands as if worshipping a king of the dead, and circling Moria, shouting deafeningly.
Let's go back to the present.
Alabasta, off the coast of St. Ting Island.
The colossal, terrifying three-masted ship, resembling a moving island, slowly approached the coastline of Saint Tin Island under the tense watchful eyes of the Kingdom's army.
"It's the island giant ship of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Gecko Moria!"
Even ordinary soldiers had heard of the world-famous ship before them and knew it was Moriah's ship.
"What is the Seven Warlord of the Sea doing here? Doesn't he know that the Seven Warlords of the Sea are not allowed to enter the territory of member states without permission? Princess Vivi! What should we do?"
Jackal Jaka, gripping a large knife, asked Vivi, who was standing in front of him.
Vivi was dressed in desert attire, her hair tied back, looking very capable. Her face had lost much of its youthful innocence, becoming more composed and mature.
She waved and shouted at a large bird flying in the sky, "Bell! Issue a warning and make the other ships turn immediately, or we will have to begin our defensive counterattack!"
"Yes!"
With a flap of its wings, Bell, in its bird form, shot towards the oncoming giant sailboat like an arrow.
He opened his beak, and a Den Den Mushi (a type of beacon-shaped insect) hung around his neck.
"Moonlight Moria! This is the Kingdom of Alabasta! Your ship has crossed the border without permission and intruded into our territory. Please leave immediately, or else..."
Before Bell could finish speaking, a phantom-like arrow shot silently from the direction of the Thriller Bark, piercing one of his wings with a soft thud before Bell could react, drawing out a long trail of blood.
Bell grunted, his body swayed in mid-air, and he fell from the sky.
"Bell!" Vivi and Jaka exclaimed.
Vivi gritted her teeth, her pretty face filled with anger, and suddenly waved her hand, giving an order to the tens of thousands of royal soldiers who had already gathered.
"Fire! Annihilate the enemies who invade Alabasta! Whoever they are, we must not let them enter our kingdom!"
"Yes!"
Tens of thousands of soldiers responded with a roar, quickly igniting their cannons and flintlock muskets and opening fire on the approaching terror three-masted ship.
A dense network of firepower was instantly deployed along the winding coastline of St. Ting Island.
However, Moriah's terror ship was simply too large.
The shells and bullets were fired as if bombarding an island, causing little damage to the behemoth except for shattering some rocks.
Furthermore, to the astonishment of Wang Guojun, Vivi, Jaka, and the others, this massive moving vessel did not slow down and instead crashed directly into the coastline of Saint Ting Island.
Vivi didn't even dare to think about how many soldiers would be crushed into mincemeat by this behemoth if they were hit.
"Back off! Back off!" Jaka shouted hoarsely.
The oppressive force of an island crashing into them was terrifying. The soldiers of the Kingdom's army standing at the front line felt their legs go weak and their faces drained of color.
