"That's settled then. Leona, come with me to catch the cultist. Flora, wait here. We'll bring the cultist back, and you'll be in charge of suppressing him," Abyss ordered directly. "Please! Help me this time! Leona, you can drink as much wine as you want and eat as much good food as you want. Flora, I'll make you a magical pet! A fluffy one!"

"It's a promise, no lying!"

"Ah... how did you know I like furry things..."

“Of course I know. You kept staring at the back of my head when we were riding together, and you always had your eyes on stray cats and dogs when we were in the city.” Abyss looked confident. “Although an ordinary mage can only create one summoned creature, because you are high-ranking undead minions, each of you can have a summoned creature. So, is it a deal?”

"Um...okay...alright." Flora nodded, blushing. Although she didn't know when Abyss had been secretly observing her, Flora was still quite happy that Abyss had taken the initiative to learn about her hobbies.

"I've changed my mind! I want not only delicious food, but also a magical pet! I want my own magical pet!" Leona protested indignantly.

……

"High Priest, should we make a move? They seem completely unprepared."

Behind a tree a few hundred meters from the Abyss camp, a cultist with sparse white hair asked a question in a hoarse voice to an abnormally muscular man wearing a mask beside him.

The masked man, addressed as High Priest, breathed heavily, his round, seemingly eyelidless eyes staring at Abyss, who sat in the camp, from behind the mask: "Hold your position for now. Our task is to observe their movements and report to Bishop Dallan promptly. Do not act on your own."

"Yes, my lord." The cultist quickly bowed, his manner strange, quite different from the common curtsy on the mainland. He put three fingers into his mouth and pressed them against his eyes. He didn't close his eyes; his fingers were simply placed on his eyeballs, seemingly without feeling any pain.

"Did the daytime surveillance reveal anything?" the priest asked.

"The believer in charge of surveillance said that they had been drinking and chatting with customers in the tavern, and the boy in the lead had been reading a book, but the believer did not recognize what book he was reading; it looked like a notebook."

“If we had kept an eye on him sooner, we might have known,” the priest muttered in a low voice. “When Bishop Dalan arrives, everything will be revealed. This boy who thinks he’s so strong and the girl beside him will become the Lord’s food… or perhaps a good vessel.”

"They were able to steal Queen Sian's Eye of Envy, so they might really be very powerful..." a cultist nearby said cautiously.

"Hmph, no matter how strong you are, you can't defeat Bishop Dalan. Have you forgotten what the bishop's abilities are?"

"I was overthinking it. Bishop Dallan's abilities have nothing to do with strength or weakness; once he uses them, there is only one outcome: victory."

"Good to know. Keep an eye on them."

"As ordered."

"For the Lord of Depravity."

"For the Lord of Depravity!"

The priest turned and left, leaving the cultist to continue watching Abyss and his two companions.

"Huh?" the cultist suddenly exclaimed in confusion.

He had just turned his gaze back to the camp when he discovered that only one of the three men remained.

Where did the other two go? Was it an illusion? It seems the others monitoring them didn't send any signals either. Could it be an illusion?

At the same time, two figures suddenly appeared behind the priest who had just turned to leave.

There was no crunching sound of footsteps on the snow, nor the whooshing sound of high-speed movement. Abyss and Leona appeared behind him. Abyss reached out and patted the priest on the shoulder, and the three of them immediately disappeared again.

"High Priest!...High Priest?" The cultist turned around to report the situation, only to find that the High Priest, who had just turned away, had vanished without a trace.

He stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do.

……

The priest was just about to return to their stronghold when he was suddenly patted on the shoulder by a hand.

He immediately turned around and saw a man and a woman standing behind him. The boy was a full head shorter than him, and the girl only reached his chest. The boy was looking up at him with a grin. Wasn't this the boy they had been staring at? The priest was struck by his thin frame and gray hair.

“Hey, you’re their leader, right? My friend wants to use you for an experiment,” Leona said. She didn’t like looking up at people, let alone this big man who was two heads taller than her, so she didn’t even look at him when she spoke.

"Ah, don't listen to her nonsense. I just have a little question I want to ask you. After you answer it, you can choose whether to leave or not." Abyss revealed his snow-white teeth and gave what he considered to be his most amiable smile.

The priest didn't reply at all. His muscles tensed instantly, and he retreated more than ten steps in an instant, distancing himself from Abyss and Leona. Red flames of battle aura ignited on his body, and he shouted, "Believers! The enemy is approaching!"

He shouted loudly, but even the believers closest to him, who had just been talking to him, did not react at all, as if they could not hear him at all.

“Strictly speaking, you’re already in another world now,” Abyss shrugged.

"It seems we have no choice but to act!" The priest didn't try to call for his companions again; he immediately decided to fight. His battle aura intensified dramatically, even the eye sockets of his mask spewing forth raging flames. The intensity of his battle aura indicated he was at least an eighth-rank battle aura master!

Brush Lala!

Before Abyss could utter another word, countless pink tentacles suddenly burst forth from the sleeves of his robe, so numerous that they ripped the sleeves apart. These tentacles, resembling extremely long, slimy earthworms, coiled and howled, instantly covering a distance of more than ten steps and engulfing Abyss and Leona!

Chapter 45 Leona fell for it?

The countless tentacles climbed and intertwined, surrounding Abyss and Leona in the middle, churning and tearing with tremendous force, and a teeth-grinding friction sound erupted from the middle of the tentacles.

The priest's red battle aura flames shot straight into the sky. It seemed that after releasing a huge number of tentacles, his power had been further enhanced, and the powerful aura emanating from his body had now reached the level of a ninth-level battle aura master.

He is a priest of the Golden Griffin City, blessed by the Lord of the Fallen, how could he be an ordinary person!

"Feel the power of my Lord! Once I have devoured your limbs and torn your vocal cords to shreds, you will be powerless to resist!" The priest, seemingly in excruciating pain, roared, yet this did nothing to lessen the force of the tentacles. "You have chosen the wrong opponent! Pay the price for your rash actions!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The tentacles' power had reached a terrifying level. Under the immense pressure, the frozen ground shattered into a massive spiderweb-like crack, and the snow on the ground was constantly being thrown into the air and then falling back down amidst the powerful tremors. The priest's burly body appeared extremely small in front of the enormous tentacles, but he stood firmly on his feet as if rooted to the spot, supporting the tentacles as they continued their ferocious attacks.

The resistance inside seemed fierce, but the priest felt no unease or fear. The power of the Lord surged within him, and there was no enemy he could not defeat!

"Ah! ABC! My hand!"

"My God! This... how did your hand..."

Screams erupted from the two inside, and a sinister smile appeared behind the priest's mask. Success! The girl couldn't hold on any longer!

Suddenly, he felt the power within the tentacles surge dramatically, and before he could react, an overwhelming force erupted from them—

Boom!

All the countless tentacles snapped off and flew out in all directions, large swirling plumes of slime swirling in the air before landing on the nearby ground with a sizzling, corrosive sound. The priest let out a scream, his body flying backward dozens of meters before hitting the ground, where he slammed and rolled like a rag doll thrown by a catapult, leaving long trails of blood and unknown slime on the ground, instantly turning the once clean snow outside the city into a filthy mess.

"Cough!" The priest tried to get up, but his two arms, which had turned into tentacles, had been blown to pieces by the enormous force. With a struggle, he spat out a mouthful of black blood, which dripped from the edge of his mask.

"ABC! My hands are covered in that slime! It's disgusting! Wash it off right now!" Leona was still in her punching stance, glaring at Abyss beside her.

"Alright, alright, I'll wash you." Abyss summoned the magical catfish, took a bag of water from its mouth, and poured it on Leona's hands. He said reproachfully, "Why did you punch so hard? You almost killed him. I wanted to interrogate him properly. What are you doing making Flora wait like this?"

"Does it make a difference to you whether he's dead or alive?" Leona rubbed her hands together to wash off the slime. "Besides, Flora isn't idle. Why don't you let Flora treat him?"

"Sigh, what a hassle, but let's do it your way." Abyss gently stroked the ring on his finger, and several figures immediately appeared beside him. They were seven skeletons, their teeth chattering as if they were saying something to Abyss.

The Abyss pointed to the priest struggling to his feet, only able to cough up blood. The skeletons immediately understood, rushing forward and hoisting the priest's body onto their backs. The viscous fluid dripping from the priest's severed hand, though making a corrosive sound on the ground, left no trace on the skeletons' bones. The skeletons were remarkably quiet; one led the way, while the remaining six spread out on either side of the priest's body, carrying him steadily forward.

The priest struggled incessantly, but could not move an inch under the skeletons' skeletal grip.

He was shocked to discover that the mysterious boy in front of him who had stolen the Eye of Jealousy possessed the strength of an eighth-level Battle Qi Master, even in the skeletons he casually summoned to act as porters!

Who exactly is this person? How can there be such a powerful necromancer? You must know that the Council of the Dead orchestrated the coming of the Fallen Lord, and these believers have very close ties with the Council of the Dead. Yet, they have never heard of a necromancer of this caliber outside of the Council of the Dead! Without the protection of the Council, a wild necromancer without a sect or faction can only hide and run away from the Holy See's encirclement and suppression. How could he possibly have the opportunity to develop such strength?

"You...cough cough...who exactly are you..." He tried desperately to raise his head, but his whole body was firmly controlled by the skeleton, and he was too badly injured to break free.

Abyss casually glanced back at the priest and said, "How dare you steal our lines? I was just peacefully setting up camp here, and you brought a bunch of weirdos to spy on me. You cultists are as unreasonable as the lungs of merfolk."

"You will die, the wrath of the Lord of Fallen will descend upon you... cough cough!"

"Heh heh, please don't threaten necromancers with death," Abyss chuckled.

"I thought you were so great. I thought you could give me a warm-up since we haven't had a proper fight in a long time, but... that's it? That's it?" Leona continued to mock from the side. "Besides your slime really disgusting me, you didn't achieve anything. Please, you're so weak."

"Leona, watch your mouth. He didn't choose to be this weak."

The priest immediately felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Although his body was rapidly recovering under the blessing of the Lord of Fallen, he did not believe that he would have any chance after returning to his peak condition.

For the first time in his life, he doubted the power of the Lord. Why was he, a priest who ruled over many believers, so easily defeated by the Lord's enemies?

"Next, I will place you in my camp. You have two things to do. First, let your followers leave as soon as possible and go and deliver messages if they want. Second, you must answer my questions and properly introduce your Lord of Demise to me."

Abyss, completely disregarding whether the priest was in grief or conflict, proceeded with the arrangements. He had absolutely no sympathy for these cultists who treated human life so lightly.

“What if I don’t?” the priest said coldly.

“Then your followers will suffer the same fate as you, none of them will escape, believe me,” Leona said to the priest with a smile.

"Bishop Dalan has his eye on you, and he will soon eliminate you! No one can survive under Lord Dalan's hand! No one!" The priest suddenly roared, his body suddenly expanding. In an instant, thousands upon thousands of tentacles pierced through his body and radiated outwards. Each tentacle was like the sharpest sword; it was his final strike!

"Stop fooling around." Abis gently beckoned with his finger.

The tentacles were all severed in an instant, and the priest's already broken body regenerated rapidly. A ghostly soul that had quietly drifted out was also suddenly stuffed back into the body!

"What!?" His body had been fully restored, and a look of shock appeared beneath the priest's tattered mask.

“Now that you are half-dead, if you intend to do it again, then so be it.” Abyss turned and smiled at the priest.

Chapter 46 Cultists are all expendable resources

Flora's lips moved slightly, and melodious prayers flowed from her pink lips. As she prayed, a powerful aura locked onto the priest standing before the Abyss.

"A priestess from the Vatican? And a necromancer...?" The priest tried to struggle, but a golden chain instantly appeared on his body, tightening and lifting him up, fixing him in a cross shape in mid-air. It was as if a giant, transparent cross was behind him. The priest groaned, and his struggles ceased.

The Chains of Eternity, one of the Church's top divine spells, can fix a person in mid-air, making it absolutely impossible to break free. The user needs to sacrifice nine-tenths of their life force—of course, Flora, a super genius favored by the gods, can use it for free.

"Now is not the time for you to ask questions. Tell your followers not to rush up and cause trouble, or my undead army will tear them all to shreds." Abyss coldly looked at the priest who was bound in mid-air.

He certainly wouldn't actually kill these cultists; he didn't like turning living people into dead people so easily, as it would disrupt the balance between life and death. But threatening people was always a very effective tactic.

As Abyss and Leona led the priest away from the Underdark, the cultists who had been watching closely naturally noticed them. Already harboring considerable hostility towards Abyss for stealing the Eye of Envy, they were furious to see that Abyss had even kidnapped their priest, and they swarmed in from all directions. These cultists weren't numerous, about a dozen, but more figures were moving in the distance, indicating that reinforcements were likely on their way.

The cultists moved quickly, surrounding the camp in no time. They held long, thin, tentacle-like daggers in their hands, their round, fish-like eyes staring at the Abyss, their toothless mouths wide open, emitting roars that were somewhat inhuman.

"Don't surround us, step back!" the priest commanded hastily. "For the sake of the Fallen Lord, obey my command!"

The cultists looked at each other in bewilderment. They didn't know how the person in the camp had suddenly disappeared, and then suddenly appeared with a priest covered in wounds and whose clothes were stained with blood. They also didn't know why the priest was now preventing them from getting close.

Out of awe for the Fallen Lord spoken of by the priests, they merely stared at the three Abyss figures from a distance, none of them taking another step forward.

“Very good, now you have to answer my question.” Abyss nodded in satisfaction. “Don’t try to play any tricks. You are now a half-dead. Do you know what that means? It means that although you are not dead, you have entered my sphere of influence. I can control your soul at any time and make you blaspheme your holy Lord of the Fallen, and defecate on His idol. How does that sound?”

"How dare you!" the priest roared angrily.

"If you dare to play tricks, I dare to." Abyss chuckled.
