Chapter Ten: Let's Get Married

"Huh?" Abyss was dumbfounded. Who asks for a kiss as soon as they wake up?

He glanced hesitantly at Flora and Leona beside him. The two girls were also confused, wondering why Miss Rebecca was doing this.

"Should I...?" Abyss made a difficult decision.

Leona's expression was awkward: "I shouldn't have! But if there's really no other way... I... what happens to you has nothing to do with me..."

“Let’s do as she says,” Flora nodded to Abyss. “We shouldn’t waste too much time. Miss Rebecca is a genius; there must be a reason why she’s doing this!”

Abis scratched his head: "This is my first time kissing a girl... Should I kiss her on the lips?"

"Kissing her cheek is enough! You're planning to kiss her on the lips!" Leona was so angry she was jumping up and down. "No! I won't allow it!"

“Alright…” Abis had no choice but to lower his head, hesitate for a moment, and then bring his lips close to Rebecca’s cheek.

"call!"

Just as the Abyss was about to kiss Rebecca's smooth cheek, Rebecca suddenly opened her mouth and exhaled a puff of pink steam. The Abyss's face was too close to her mouth, and her breath landed directly on his nose and mouth.

The pink steam came so suddenly that Abyss was momentarily stunned, then immediately inhaled it through his nose. Rebecca, lying on the ground, her consciousness mostly returned, revealed a satisfied smile.

"Abyss!" Flora exclaimed in surprise, "What are you doing!"

"What is that?!" Leona was also bewildered by this sudden turn of events. "What did you inhale?"

"Wait... don't rush..." Abyss took several deep breaths. The pink steam Rebecca exhaled smelled wonderful, without any unpleasant odors like bad breath. The scent was as pleasant as a girl adorned with flowers passing by. Abyss clearly felt the steam quickly enter his bloodstream after being inhaled, followed by a surge of magical energy rushing to his brain!

hum!

Abyss suddenly experienced a ringing in his ears, which then disappeared, along with the fragrance and the sensation of the potion taking effect.

Along with it, Abyss's lingering suicidal thoughts also vanished.

"You...cough...cough...you trust me that much?"

A slightly hoarse girl's voice came from below, causing the three of them to lower their heads.

Rebecca's beautiful face wore a slightly stiff smile, but her eyes had regained their luster as she looked intently at Abyss.

“I don’t think I need to doubt you, because you’ve always been a kind person.” Abyss smiled at Rebecca. “Welcome back to sleep, and thank you for using the antidote to help me recover from the effects of the gas.”

"You came here specifically to rescue me? Cough cough... Lanis really found a reliable group of people... I'm quite surprised that they were able to follow me all the way to this other world..." Rebecca struggled to sit up, and Abyss quickly reached out and grabbed her shoulders to help her up.

Rebecca chuckled as Abyss helped her sit up, continuing on her own, "You're safe now. Your two companions might need me to concoct some antidotes... Do you have a way back? Did Lannis find the method to make that crystal? How did she suddenly become so powerful... cough cough... How long have I been lying here? It must have been a month or two, my body is so stiff... Wait a moment... I need to recover... Oh right, those alchemical materials I brought, I remember they're..."

“You are dead.” Abyss smiled at her. “Forty-three years have passed, and you no longer need to concoct potions. I am a necromancer named Abyss. They, like you now, are now my servants. The undead are immune to poison gas.”

Rebecca's smile hadn't faded yet; she stared blankly at Abyss, remaining silent for a long time.

"Hello? Are you still listening?" Abyss blinked and waved a hand in front of her.

"I'm already dead?" Rebecca finally managed to say after a long pause. "You're a necromancer?"

“Yes, don’t worry, I’m very good to my family. Both of them can vouch for me.” Abyss tried to move Rebecca with his gentlest smile.

“I…I can vouch for it.” Flora raised a hand.

“He can be a bit weird sometimes…but overall…he’s pretty good…just a little bit good…” Leona said quietly, a little embarrassed.

"Eee ...

“Yes, yes, you’re dead, but now you’re a ghost, so being dead is almost the same as being alive.” Abyss gently patted her back.

"And there's more!!" Rebecca wasn't finished yet. She had regained some of her energy and could now raise her hand a little more freely. She pointed at the Abyss, "When they were talking about you just now, they said 'he,' right? You're a man!"

“Uh…yes, but I didn’t mean to lie to you. I just heard you don’t interact with men much, so I was worried you might have some kind of phobia of men…so I wore this dress…” Abyss explained calmly, and even took the time to chant a spell to summon the magical catfish, taking out the flowers she had bought from the potion shop clerk from its mouth. “Also, today happens to be your birthday, so I bought you a bouquet of flowers. I hope you like them—can you take them now? If not, I’ll give them to you later.”

“Ah…” Rebecca stared wide-eyed at Abyss.

"What's wrong with her?" Flora asked Leona quietly.

"Looks like Abyss is going to be treated like a hooligan..." Leona chuckled smugly to herself.

“Miss Rebecca? We have plenty of time to get to know each other…” Abyss handed the flowers to Rebecca.

"We don't need to know each other anymore!"

Rebecca suddenly spoke with unwavering conviction, her trembling hands gripping the Abyss's hand that held the bouquet, her eyes fixed intently on the Abyss.

"We don't need to know each other anymore, you're my Prince Charming! Let's get married! I have lots and lots of money, all of which can be your dowry! Really... I... I... I've never been in a relationship before, so I hope you can be understanding... I'll try my best to be a good wife!"

Even though her energy hadn't fully returned, Rebecca still gripped Abyss's hand with all her might, her bright, star-like eyes filled with eagerness and longing, as if she had discovered the most precious treasure.

"Huh?!" The three people squatting to the side exclaimed in unison.

Chapter Eleven: A Genius Girl Yearning for Love

Before coming to this world with the Abyss, Leona had anticipated what might happen after the Abyss resurrected Rebecca, based on the information she had previously obtained.

Perhaps Rebecca obediently followed the Abyss, or perhaps she was repulsed by him because he was male, causing him considerable effort to take her away, or even worse, he was embarrassed to return home after failing to find her. But she never imagined that the eccentric alchemist, rumored to avoid men at all costs and even wear gloves and a gas mask when meeting them, would propose marriage so readily upon learning the Abyss's name?

What's going on here? This woman is definitely not normal!

Flora glanced at Leona, who was squatting there with a disheveled expression, with a hint of worry.

"Why get married?" Abis scratched his head. "I'm only sixteen, not old enough to get married yet... so..."

"You actually used that as an excuse?!" Leona's teeth-grinding voice came from the side.

"Ah...you're only sixteen? That's alright! We can get engaged first, and then get married in two years, okay? You're a necromancer, and I'm your familiar. We'll definitely be a good match!" Rebecca still wouldn't give up. Her eyes were incredibly sincere, constantly telling Abyss that she was serious.

Abisco had never encountered a girl who proposed to him before. He looked at Rebecca with some confusion, unsure of how to respond appropriately.

“Miss Rebecca, can you tell me why you want to marry Abyss?” Flora asked with a hint of curiosity, unlike Leona who was gritting her teeth.

“Ah, I almost forgot to mention that.” Rebecca seemed to have been reminded by Flora’s question. She cleared her still hoarse throat. “I’m very sorry, I didn’t reveal this information before I died. Actually, my body started producing a kind of toxicity after puberty. I’ve studied it for a long time but I still haven’t figured out where that toxicity comes from. It only works on men. If a man touches my skin or inhales too much of the air I’ve breathed, he will experience hallucinations.”

Rebecca seemed to accept the situation very quickly, and after the initial surprise, she felt no psychological burden whatsoever.

Abis was somewhat surprised: "So, the gas mask you used to wear when you were in contact with men wasn't actually for filtering the air?"

“That’s a device I developed that can store a certain amount of air and waste gas by utilizing the reaction between potions,” Rebecca explained. “Because I can’t analyze what the toxins in my breath are, I can only isolate them. Fortunately, the toxicity in my breath will disappear within an hour, so it won’t pollute the environment.”

Abyss also became interested. He sat down directly opposite Rebecca, their eyes meeting. "Then why didn't I react to your touch? Is it because you've become an undead?"

“I don’t know,” Rebecca blinked her bright eyes. “But a fortune teller once told me that sooner or later a man would come along who wouldn’t be poisoned after touching my body, and that man would become my Mr. Right! That man is you!”

"Another fortune teller?" Leona said, somewhat displeased. "Why do you believe in that?"

“Of course I believe you!” Rebecca seemed very interested in this topic. Far from being swayed by Leona's doubts, she enthusiastically began recommending things to Leona. “Have you ever looked into the influence of blood type on love? I invented a potion that can quickly determine a person's blood type… Oh right, and the compatibility of people of different zodiac signs. Let me think… what's my zodiac sign again…”

Leona immediately found the prototype of Rebecca in her memories—wasn't she the kind of girl who, at the age of first love, was full of thoughts about love, read all kinds of books in order to master the secrets of love, and hoped that she could meet a handsome, dashing and gentle prince charming?

Unbelievable! The super-rich businessman who once monopolized the adult products business across the entire continent and the outstanding alchemist who stood at the pinnacle of world history was actually a womanizer.

“I’ve always wanted to be in a relationship, but I’ve never had the chance to meet any boys!” Rebecca continued to Abyss, having just released her grip on his hand, seemingly realizing her actions were rather unladylike. “Please give me a beautiful love story! I’ll be your good girlfriend! And I’ll be your good wife! Undead shouldn’t be able to get pregnant, right? But I think I can develop a potion to overcome that problem…”

"How did you die?" Abyss suddenly asked with a smile.

Leona and Flora closed their eyes in sorrow at the same time. Abyss's personality was really not suited to dating. While others were excitedly talking about having children, he was still wondering how others died.

“If you don’t want to talk, we can do it next time, but I won’t give up!” Rebecca was undeterred. She immediately replied, “I didn’t know I was dead. The potion in that pool was something I concocted at the last minute. As long as I lay in it, the potion would maintain my physical activity and ensure that I could stay in there for about three months while waiting for someone to rescue me. Although I’m not sure, if someone really came, I might survive… But it seems that my technology for traveling between worlds is still too early for humans. Lanis probably won’t be able to come over either…”

“After waiting for no news, she actually intended to save you, but your territory was attacked by the gang, and your ‘world conduit’ was stolen by the gang. It took many years for it to reappear,” Abyss said to Rebecca. “Please don’t blame Lanis. She is not incompetent, and she is very loyal to you.”

“Is that so… Well, I didn’t blame her at all.” Rebecca shook her head, her long black hair swaying with the movement. “I was blinded by my target and did something so dangerous.”

"The poisonous gas in this air...can you tell me about it? It must be directly related to your death, right?" Abyss asked again.

Rebecca was asked this by Abyss, and then seemed to remember something. She blinked and said to Abyss, "Um... could you help me up first? I need to find the materials and equipment I brought earlier. We can talk about what you want to ask while we work."

"Huh? Why the rush?"

"From the moment I gave you that dose of the antidote, you have one hour to live. In fifty minutes, you might have to find a way to commit suicide... Everyone here is dead, all because of this poison gas..."

Chapter Twelve: Bellator Moving Company

Abyss nodded slightly upon hearing Rebecca's words, indicating that he had no doubt about them.

The reason Abis didn't doubt the severity of the poison gas Rebecca described was because he was very clear about just how high his body's resistance to toxins was.

Necromancers, as a distinct school of magic, employ spellcasting methods that differ from traditional mages. For instance, they don't rely entirely on their own magic power; they also use potions or herbs to aid their spellcasting. Potions, in particular, are highly valued. Necromancers often concoct a potent potion called "Blessing of Life" to help them achieve a near-death trance state, thereby gaining affinity with the undead—although the Abyss doesn't need this, he drank it quite often as a child.

The Abyss's master frequently used this potion, so he brewed many to carry with him. Little Abyss secretly drank some of his master's Life Praise—because it tasted sweet, sour, and slightly spicy, which he loved. At only seven or eight years old, he was already immune to small doses of Life Praise; drinking too much would only make him feel drowsy. This led his master to discover his unique resistance to toxins.

Now, at sixteen years old, the Abyss's resistance to toxins is even more outrageous. Poisons that would make an ordinary person sick would leave him completely unharmed; potions that would kill an ordinary person would only cause him to burp; and poisons that could kill a two-headed ogre would at most cause him a slight dizziness, which he would recover from extremely quickly.

But he couldn't resist the toxin in the air of this world, demonstrating just how potent it was. Abyss couldn't help but feel a chill; if he had listened to Lanis's advice and brought her along in the magical catfish, even if she hadn't been harmed inside, she would likely have quickly succumbed to the poison and desperately sought death. When this toxin, capable of rendering even Abyss incoherent, spread throughout the world's air, killing everyone would be effortless.

"The antidote I just gave you is over forty years old, so its effectiveness must have diminished. Therefore, we must quickly find the devices and herbs I brought here before and prepare a new one as soon as possible. Hopefully, they haven't rusted beyond repair after all these years..."

Rebecca tried to get up from the ground, moving her stiff joints, but Abyss patted her on the shoulder, signaling her not to move.

“Your physical condition is similar to that of an average person. Your joints are still very stiff. If you suddenly engage in strenuous activity, it will damage your legs and feet,” Abis said seriously. “It won’t hurt much, but it will be very uncomfortable.”

"Would you be willing to help me find it?" Rebecca seemed quite pleased.

"No, no need to look anymore, you should have enough here."

Abyss smiled slightly, chanted a spell, and summoned a magical catfish. To Rebecca's astonishment, he pulled a sack taller than a person from the suddenly enlarged mouth of the catfish, which was filled to the brim.

Abyss then opened the sack, revealing a package of various alchemical materials inside, all of which she had obtained from Lanis. Although Lanis seemed only interested in explosions, the alchemical materials in her home actually covered a wide range of uses; if she wished, she could use them to create most of the world's potions.

That wasn't all; Abyss continued to pull out many more bottles and jars and place them on the ground.

“This sack contains materials that your assistant Lannis gave me. These things might be helpful to you. And these jars contain some of my materials. Although they are not as varied as Lannis’s materials, they were all obtained by my master and me from all over the world. Some of them are quite rare. I don’t know if you will find them useful,” Abyss said, clapping his hands.

Rebecca's eyes widened: "Wait, what's this catfish? Your pet?"

"Yes, that's right, it's my magical pet. Its belly can hold a lot of things, as long as it can swallow them." Abyss proudly stroked the magical catfish's huge head. However, this magical pet, which was only used as a storage tool, had no intelligence and simply swayed a few times as Abyss stroked it.

"This is amazing! I'm your familiar now! Can I use your magical pet to carry things?" Rebecca exclaimed in delight. Her voice had recovered somewhat and sounded much clearer. "Do you know what the biggest problem is for alchemists? It's that they have too many alchemical devices and materials, and they can't carry them with them, so they can't travel freely! But! But your magical pet! It's amazing!"
