"Use it as you like if you need it," Abyss replied with a smile.

Before Rebecca could make any further requests, Abyss resumed his work of scooping things out of the catfish's belly. This time, instead of mountains of alchemical materials, he pulled out numerous alchemical devices. Lanis generously gave Abyss every potentially useful device in her laboratory that the magical catfish could swallow, including a complete set of alchemical tools, bottles and jars, various heaters, and even a heavy stone alchemical table.

"Leona, Flora, please!" At Abyss's command, Leona, who was still jealous, was lifted up by Flora and started arranging the devices with Abyss.

Within minutes, a fully equipped alchemy laboratory appeared before Rebecca.

Rebecca, who had never seen such a smooth moving process before, clapped her hands with delight and exclaimed sincerely, "Wow! Thank you! You're so thoughtful! You brought everything I needed, and in such an efficient way! I'll get started right away!"

"Let me help you up," Flora said with a smile, walking over to Rebecca to avoid Leona continuing to be jealous.

“Thank you.” Rebecca thanked her politely, then suddenly remembered something and studied Flora’s face. “I think I remember you… Abyss called you Flora just now. Are you a saint from the Holy See?”

"Huh? You know me?" Flora asked, somewhat surprised.

“Yes! Of course I know! The kind and beautiful Saintess Flora is one of the most popular topics of conversation among mainlanders.” Rebecca nodded immediately.

Then, Rebecca's gaze fell on Leona.

“Leona…then you must be Princess Leona, the genius princess of the Western Empire!” Rebecca exclaimed with delight. “Strong, brave, and kind, your name is often sung by bards!”

"Ah...really?" Leona, who was initially hostile towards Rebecca, couldn't stay angry after hearing what Rebecca said.

"My God, Abyss, how did you manage to make such geniuses your servants... No, no, no, I should be preparing medicine for you right now!" Rebecca couldn't hide her excitement as Flora helped her toward the alchemy table.

“Since…since it’s for the safety of ABC…it’s not impossible for me to help you out…” Leona blushed, a forced smile on her face, and walked towards Rebecca with her arms crossed.

Even the Abyss could see that Rebecca knew Leona was jealous of her and Flora didn't quite trust her, so she tried to bridge the gap in this way—and Leona was really won over. She really is just a brat, both in appearance and mind...

Chapter Thirteen: Without You, I Have No Future

Although Rebecca appeared timid and submissive upon waking, like a lovestruck, naive young girl, her entire demeanor transformed the moment she placed her hands on the alchemy table. Her previously stiff and weak body straightened, and her bright eyes focused intently on the devices on the table. Over forty years of slumber hadn't dulled her skills; each device felt as familiar as an extension of her own hands.

"Please, the three of you, be my assistants for now. My first task is to concoct a potion that will allow my body to recover quickly—the Abyss. If I were an undead, how much would the potion's effects be reduced?"

Rebecca turned to look at Abyss, who was helping her take the materials out of the sack, and asked without any nervousness, as if Abyss were an old partner she had worked with for a long time.

“Ordinary undead might be ineffective. However, you are my familiar, and my necromancy has been improved. Generally speaking, buff potions will have a 70-80% effect, and as for toxicity, you can consider yourself almost immune to it,” Abyss replied with a smile. He quite liked Rebecca's generous and open personality.

“Okay, I understand.” Rebecca nodded confidently. In the time it took Abyss to answer, she had already figured out how to prepare the medicine this time.

She named several alchemical potions one by one, and the Abyss, who was very familiar with them, did not disappoint her by accurately handing them to her.

"Flora, could you please light this potion furnace for me and add a bottle of solvent to it, then heat it up? But before I add the herbs, please control the flame size to prevent it from boiling over." Rebecca methodically directed the three of them to begin their work. "Leona, you are skilled in hand-to-hand combat, so could you please help me grind these herbs into powder?"

"Okay." "Got it!"

Flora and Leona, who had already been won over by Rebecca, immediately took action and began to follow her instructions.

After giving these instructions, Rebecca picked up the tools Abyss had given her and quickly began working with the materials and equipment in front of her.

Her thinking is extremely clear, and she can do four or five things at the same time without interfering with each other. Her speed is so fast that it is hard to believe that she only has two hands.

"I am now an undead, and I need more potent potions, but the purification process takes too long, so I must concoct a new potion to enhance its effects..."

Rebecca muttered to herself, her eyes darting rapidly between the equipment and materials, her hands never idle. While doing all this, she was even keeping a timer, quietly counting the elapsed time every five seconds.

Although Flora was a sorcerer, she also knew some magic. After lighting the potion furnace with magic, she carefully controlled the size of the flame, keeping the alchemical solvent in the furnace at the temperature just before boiling, without the slightest error.

Leona, on the other hand, used her battle aura to materialize and very efficiently ground the medicinal herbs Rebecca had given her into fine powder, which she then placed into several small bowls.

"Thank you, Leona. You grind it finer than any machine. Now please give the ground medicine to the Abyss. Abyss, I need your help with some things later."

“Of course.” Abyss nodded and took the bowl containing various powders from Leona.

Rebecca then officially began concocting potions. The devices she had previously activated and preheated, along with the potion furnace that Flora had been carefully watching over and ready to boil at any moment, were simultaneously filled with medicinal ingredients and the work began. One order after another, but in an orderly manner, kept Abyss busy as well, as he, with his rudimentary knowledge of alchemy, was responsible for many of the basic operations.

"Now, just do this... Flora, now make the potion furnace burn at maximum efficiency for five seconds and then extinguish it... Five, four, three, two, one, okay!"

She used a pair of tongs to pick up the potions from the potion furnace, which had already been filled with various herbs in order, and quickly poured them into a cooling container. The moment the potions cooled to the right temperature, she picked up the container and drank the potions in one gulp.

As some of the magical ingredients in the medicine took effect, Rebecca's skin glowed with a soft light for a moment, and a gentle breath escaped from her mouth. Then, she began to move her body, and with a series of satisfying cracking sounds, all the joints that had been lying in bed for over forty years regained their vitality.

"Success! It took two minutes and fourteen seconds." Rebecca smiled, twisting her body into a playful pose for Abyss and the others. "I'm back to normal! Thank you all for your help! I've memorized the recipe and method for the new potion. Abyss, you can have it if you need it."

"Is this your new invention?" Abis raised an eyebrow. "You actually succeeded on your first try?"

“When you become familiar with the properties of all herbs under various conditions, you will be just like me.” Rebecca shook her wrist, which had fully regained its flexibility under the effects of the potion. “I also have to thank your necromancy; it’s really advanced.”

Rebecca is very polite. It's hard to imagine that this polite and incredibly talented young woman once ran the largest adult products and health supplement business in the entire continent.

“Next comes the preparation of the antidote. I’ll make you a bottle of volatile potion; you just need to hold the bottle and breathe in it every now and then—it smells very nice, you won’t dislike it.” Rebecca tossed her dark hair with her hand and winked at the Abyss. “In the meantime, I’ll tell you how I died, and then we’ll think about how to get out—I guess you came in here on a whim, and you don’t have that kind of magic crystal that can travel between two worlds, right?”

“Ah, you’re right, I didn’t.” Abyss shrugged. “I used the last crystal, and if Lannis hadn’t found out in time, the ‘World Conduit’ powered by that crystal might have been used by those gangsters as a free solvent-making machine until it broke down.”

Upon hearing the word "gangster," Rebecca's eyes suddenly turned cold, but she quickly regained her previous cute demeanor: "In that case, I'm actually quite lucky to have been saved at the last moment, and by a reliable guy like you."

“Actually, I’ve wanted you for a long time, and I must have you,” Abyss replied casually.

Rebecca was somewhat surprised, her face flushing slightly: "Oh... really? Do you need me that much?"

“I can’t live without you.” Abyss nodded. “Without you, I have no future.”

Rebecca looked blissful, while Flora and Leona beside her closed their eyes in sorrow.

Chapter Fourteen: Man proposes, God disposes?

"Flora, please hand me that red potion—thanks."

Rebecca deftly operated the various alchemical devices before her, preparing another potion. This antidote, designed to counteract the world's poisonous gas, was far more complex to prepare than the previous potion for relieving discomfort. However, this gave Rebecca an opportunity to recount her experiences in this world. Abyss stood behind her, assisting her. Although they had just met, perhaps due to their necromancy bond, or perhaps due to Rebecca's high intelligence and adaptability, their teamwork was remarkably smooth. Leona, on the other hand, had already finished the tasks Rebecca had asked her to do, grinding various herbs into a fine powder and using her aura to perform surgical-level precision peeling and pitting on some of the materials. She was now sitting on the ground, her hands cupping her face, listening to Rebecca's story.

While it might seem like overkill, Leona has been constantly praised by Rebecca, and now she not only no longer feels hostile towards Rebecca, but is even somewhat affectionate towards her. If Leona had a tail, it would probably be wagging high in the air by now.

Even though Rebecca is still doing several things at the same time, she still has extra mental energy to tell stories to everyone, and she tells them in a gentle and detailed manner while operating the alchemy device.

"Lanis may have told you that I have always been fascinated by spatial magic. After long-term research, I have discovered that spatial magic is not something that a mage can do in the traditional way, directly relying on spells and magic power."

"So I devised a new solution—etching magical crystals with potions, then soaking them in other potions to alter their properties, giving them new characteristics, thereby solidifying spatial magic onto them. My idea was quite unorthodox, Abyss, you're a necromancer, I think you should know how much those 'orthodox' mages look down on magic aided by alchemy. But I succeeded. I originally thought these magical crystals could help me create a convenient and stable teleportation machine, but it surprised me by connecting to another world."

"I was overjoyed at that moment. If I could use this technology to connect with other worlds, I would definitely be able to find a breakthrough and do more things. So, blinded by the sense of accomplishment, I immediately conducted a lot of experiments—these experiments were kept from Lanis, because I knew she definitely didn't want me to become too obsessed with it."

"I used up a lot of magic crystals and conducted many experiments, but I finally succeeded. I discovered that this world has a large amount of 'natural' excellent alchemical solvents, which is simply an alchemist's paradise. I was overjoyed and used potions to eliminate fatigue, working tirelessly to create two things, which you should have seen before: the New World Gate and the World Conduit. The inspiration for these things came from my ancestor, but they actually have little to do with him. I designed most of them myself, and he didn't have spatial magic back then."

"Then I eagerly took whatever I thought might be useful and recklessly plunged into this incredibly alluring world. I was so stupid, really. I only saw that this world had a lot of alchemical solvents, but I presumptuously thought that there were no inhabitants here, and I didn't know that they had all died... This world was completely dead, with not even microorganisms left."

"As you can see, this world has a large number of factories that were abandoned thousands of years ago, and the altars around us are actually a type of factory. The other factories produce various potions, and some are extremely large, with vast reserves of materials. As long as the machines are started, they can produce continuously. I first found one such factory, and then assembled another part of the world conduit here, successfully starting it up and sending the alchemical solvents produced here back to Hay-Tver. This was the first step of my plan, a complete success."

"Then... I realized that my gas mask wasn't as effective as I thought. There's a toxic component in the air of this world that affects people's thinking and makes them want to commit suicide. It was this toxic component that actually managed to get past the filter of my gas mask."

As Rebecca prepared the antidote, she pointed to the gas mask that Abyss was playing with, twirling the straps in his hand.

“The gas mask I brought back then was better than yours. At first, when the gas wasn’t affecting me too much, I used the isolation function in time to breathe the fresh air here. But I quickly realized that if I didn’t retreat, I would be killed by this gas that could affect people sooner or later. So I immediately started assembling a new portal, but... my other two magic crystals inexplicably broke when they were being embedded in the portal.”

Rebecca sighed.

"Because the gas mask can only store a limited amount of air, I didn't have enough time at that point. Since I was exploring as I went, the factory where I placed the world conduit was too far away. I didn't have enough time to get back in a short time. It was the first time I had ever been in such a desperate situation... I had prepared extra magic crystals, but man proposes, God disposes."

"I've made the antidote, but I didn't bring enough of the necessary materials, so it won't last long. I'm still a little worried. What if the crystal breaks too? So, I've decided not to go get the last crystal yet, but to try another method."

"It just so happened that I discovered the factory inside this altar at that time. I analyzed what the factory produced, and modified it using local materials to create a potion that could put me into a state of suspended animation, allowing me to stop breathing for a certain period of time without dying, while waiting for rescue. If there was no rescue, it would wake me up before my life truly ended so I could make a last-ditch effort. This method seemed more reliable. I soaked myself in it... but no one came to rescue me, and for some reason, the potion didn't wake me up, and I really died."

Abyss's eyes narrowed slightly upon hearing this. Rebecca had been regretting her recklessness, but in fact, she had made thorough preparations for her actions. She had stayed up for days and nights to specially craft an extra magic crystal to guard against unforeseen circumstances, but unforeseen circumstances had occurred multiple times, cutting off all her escape routes.

Who led Rebecca here, and who caused the accident? In the Abyss's mind, there is only one most suitable candidate: the Creator God!

Rebecca smiled wryly, "But it's alright, at least a necromancer came to save me in the end, and he was so kind to me."

"I plan to try one more time. This time we have enough materials. After I prepare the antidote in a little while, we'll set off to retrieve the last piece of crystal and make one last attempt to get home! But I don't know if it will still be able to get us through after all these years. I hope it won't have any problems."

"If that crystal isn't secure enough, can we make a few more?"

“You have a magic crystal? No, that’s useless.” Rebecca shook her head. “The crystal I need is a magic crystal from the Shadowfall – people think it’s useless, that it will shatter when magic is injected into it, but it’s the material that can create magic crystals that can travel through worlds. Nobody else has that.”

“You know what, I actually have some of those crystals,” Abyss suddenly laughed. “Probably a few thousand. You can take them and use them.”

Chapter Fifteen: The Low-Key Tycoon

Flora and Leona always felt that the Abyss wasn't very wealthy when they were with him.

They all understood, after all, the Abyss was a necromancer. Necromancers were inherently a shady profession; no one would hire a necromancer for legitimate work, and the Abyss wouldn't stoop to murder and robbery for a little money. Besides, disregarding the extravagant lifestyle, a necromancer didn't actually spend much money on normal spellcasting materials—their most important spellcasting tools were corpses; they could simply dig what they needed from graves, and the dead generally wouldn't object.

From this perspective, life in the Abyss isn't so bad after all. Although he's penniless, he's carefree and relaxed, and it's not difficult for him to get money when he really needs it.

Flora and Leona had always thought so, but when the Abyss pulled a large box out of the magical catfish's mouth and opened it, they no longer thought so.

This is a whole box full of magic crystals! And they're all black-lustered, contaminated magic crystals from the Shadowfall!

“I got this from a merchant when I was traveling the continent with my master—a merchant who’s now dead. He told us these were corrupted magic crystals he brought back from the Shadowfall. He initially thought they were usable, even though they weren’t good quality, and he could just sell them cheaply. But after he got them back to the continent, processed them, and infused them with magic, they shattered. These things almost bankrupted him.” Abyss took a magic crystal out of the box and handed it to Rebecca to check its quality. “Unwilling to give up, he left a box full of them, which he said contained nearly two thousand crystals. He was buried with them when he died. I got them from him, and in return, I showed him my descendants, but that’s another story.”

“This stuff is incredibly rare on the mainland, practically priceless!” Rebecca exclaimed excitedly, examining the egg-sized magic crystal in her hand. “I went through so much trouble to buy those, because the Shadowfall is too dangerous. Nobody’s willing to travel thousands of miles by ship there just to bring back some worthless junk crystals, so they’re extremely hard to get. And you have so many!”

“I also have ordinary magic crystals and raw, unprocessed magic crystals. There are probably seven or eight boxes like this in total.” Abyss nodded. “If you need anything, just ask me. You are now my familiar, and we are inseparable.”

"What else do you have?" Leona couldn't help but ask. "I thought you were a penniless wretch."

“I have a lot of things, all kinds of weapons and armor, supposedly quite valuable, all given to me by the dead. Especially when I was little, they all said I was very cute, so they would give me many gifts as soon as they met me, and my master couldn’t stop them.” Abyss thought for a moment and said, “I also have several boxes of jewelry, gems and the like, and some ancient gold coins, quite heavy, weighing several tons. But I don’t think they’re of any use, so I’ve been keeping them inside the Magic Catfish’s belly. If you like, I can let you wear them—as long as you don’t mind that they’re other people’s burial goods. Little Fire Dragon especially likes gems and the like, and I often give him gems as gifts.”

Leona's mouth dropped open: "You're that rich?"

"These aren't exactly money, but they can definitely be exchanged for cash. I was planning to give some gems to the Black Hat Gang so they could exchange them for some money for us. Pawnbrokers usually don't like to accept burial goods, but gangsters have plenty of connections."

Looking at Abyss's nonchalant demeanor, Leona couldn't help but wonder why she had insisted on living a life of poverty with him all these days.

This guy isn't poor, he just doesn't have any cash! He's so used to living in poverty that he doesn't realize how unfair this kind of life is to the Holy Maiden of the Church and the Imperial Princess!

However, Leona felt that Flora seemed to be enjoying herself quite a bit.

No, I, Leona, can't keep putting myself through this! From now on, ABC will have to charge me for touching his head! Because he's rich! Leona secretly made up her mind.

He'll touch me three times a day, morning, noon, and night, for ten Imperial Coins each time! That's settled!
