Settsetse! The Pirate Nemesis
Page 21
Upon hearing this, Zefa chuckled and said, "Then I can only wait and see."
As he spoke, Zephyr stood up and said, "We've all finished eating! Let's have a group activity!"
"Group activities?"
Hearing Zeff's words, Smoker and the others turned to look. Then, Zeff took out a volleyball. Seeing this, Tina's eyes lit up, and she swung her arm, raising an iron net. A steel net stood in the center of the beach.
"Beach volleyball!" Zephyr exclaimed. "The losing team has to do the other team's laundry for a week!!"
At first, it wasn't a big deal, but after hearing about the punishment for failure, all the naval members cheered excitedly. The only ones who remained silent were female naval members like Tina—they looked completely blank; they had no intention of giving these stinky men any perks.
Who's responsible if it's lost?!
But the male sailors didn't care about any of that; they were all excitedly swallowing hard. The East China Sea was sunny and breezy. After half a day of training, they were covered in sweat. The smell from their thick leather boots was enough to poison rabbits and field mice. Every day, the socks they took off their boots smelled like they'd just been pulled out of the water…
Doing laundry is a skill! How could they possibly be unhappy if a group of people did their laundry for them?
Unless they never thought they could win in the first place!
But as elite naval personnel, who isn't a genius teenager?
Smoker, in particular, as the red team member, had two cigars dangling from his mouth. With a bang, his body turned into a cloud of smoke as he stared at the opposing navy, his eyes filled with great interest.
"My clothes and shoes for the next week are in your hands!!"
Its elemental form encompassed most of the field, leaving the blue team completely bewildered, unsure of where to begin.
"You come at me too, Sett!"
"well."
Upon hearing Zephyr's words, Sett stretched his frame, then stood up from the beach and entered the arena with a look of casualness and arrogance in his eyes.
"My dear babies~ Uncle Sett is here to pamper you~~"
59. System Update (Third Update)
Looking at the crowd in front of him, Sett's eyes were filled with a wicked smile.
Even Sett's talent and strength were evident when Smoker saw Sett arrive at Team Blue; sweat visibly appeared on his forehead—although in his smoke form, the sweat was wiped away the instant it appeared.
Sensing the fear in his teammates' hearts, Smoker shouted, "Don't be afraid! He's just a little more talented! Volleyball has absolutely nothing to do with talent!!"
Upon hearing Smoker's words, the faces of the nearby marines brightened, their initial fear turning into seriousness. Sett remained silent, simply standing there and chuckled softly.
Beside her, Tina glanced at Sett's smile and silently curled her lip.
Smoker had absolutely no idea how serious the problem was.
"Not bad." Sett squeezed the volleyball in his hand—it wasn't an ordinary volleyball; the internal fibers had clearly undergone special reinforcement and modification. Holding it felt more like a resilient dumbbell than a volleyball.
As Zephyr's match began, under the cover of night, Sett picked up the volleyball in a way that left no room for refusal. He leaped high into the air before everyone could see him. The moment he swung his arm, the Armament Haki he had already cultivated before the match even started exploded forth.
The fingertips touched the volleyball, first with overwhelming force, then with penetrating power, and finally with an indestructible grip. The golden arm left a shimmering trail of light in the night sky, and the volleyball was instantly blasted into a U-shape upon contact.
A merciless iron hand strike, the resounding boom echoing through the air before Sett's hand even touched the volleyball. Immediately following, accompanied by the volleyball hurtling towards them—"Cheer!!"
Instinctively, they lunged forward, but immediately afterward, all the marines were plunged into endless regret. One after another, the elite marines who rushed to block the ball were blasted away like bowling balls. Feeling unprecedented pressure, Smoker, at the rear, focused all his mental energy.
"White Smoke - Heavy Hammer!!"
The smoke from his body suddenly burst forth, and then his hands materialized, using the intense reaction force to hammer the volleyball.
The friction was so intense that Smoker could feel the flesh on his arm being ground apart with each impact. Yet even so, Smoker didn't give up easily. He gritted his teeth.
Unfortunately, sometimes effort is futile. In just half a second, Smoker felt the pain of exhaustion. And the instant he de-materialized and reverted to his smoky form, a beach volleyball pierced through his body, hitting the sand and creating a five-meter-high wave of sand with a roar.
The volleyball plowed deep tracks into the sand, emitting scorching white smoke from the depths of the ravines.
In other words, Sett hasn't mastered Armament Haki yet. Otherwise, if he were to apply Armament Haki, its power would likely be even greater—because even now, it already feels comparable to a cannonball.
"You son of a bitch..." Tina couldn't hold back any longer, witnessing the shocking destructive power. "Sett! This is just beach volleyball! Are you trying to blast them to pieces?!"
A perfectly normal volleyball game suddenly turned into an execution by cannon fire... Anyone would find that unacceptable. But now it's different; everyone feels that "execution by cannon fire" is an incredibly apt description.
Sett curled his lip in disdain at this.
"This counts as a cannon blast? I haven't even used my full strength yet!"
This isn't about showing off; it's just the truth. If it were a true cannon blast, Sett wouldn't start with his Q skill to intimidate his opponent. He'd start with a fully charged, charged punch, giving you no chance to block, and then he'd obliterate you and your ball!
"Anyway, goodbye everyone. For the next while, my underwear is yours to keep~"
As he spoke, Sett picked up the remaining bottles of liquor and slowly walked toward the makeshift dormitory on the side... Of course, Sett was too lazy to do anything, so he decided to sleep in the tree tonight.
If it weren't for the fact that the girls also sleep in groups, Sett wouldn't mind borrowing the shelter that Tina built.
Once up in the tree, Sett opened the system interface. After glancing at the registration information, Sett nodded.
Has the system update been completed?
[Update complete.]
The system update took place when Sett learned Armament Haki – before that, the system had no skills other than those in League of Legends.
Now, Sett can learn and freely allocate new skills through his own training.
For example, the current active skills now include Armament Haki and Heroic Armament Haki options—like Mundo's W skill, these are continuous damage skills. They also share a cooldown. To switch seamlessly between them, you need to master the switching speed yourself.
In addition to these, there's the achievement system. Like this: Achieve the achievement "The First Step for Beginners".
Reward: Skill Draw Attempt ×1
Achievement Completed: [Dragon Enters the Sea]
Reward: Skill Draw Attempt ×1
60. Skill Extraction and Six Styles
With two more chances to draw skills, Sett's face lit up with excitement.
Games are only truly addictive when they involve some degree of gambling—like gacha mechanics and in-game purchases.
Open the properties panel.
Name: Sett.
Title: Sett
Passive skill: Battlefield Heroism.
Active Skills: Subduing the Enemy's Power, Deliberate Punch, Strong Hand Skull Crack, Breathtaking, Penetrating Force, Dark Armament Haki, Heroic Armament Haki.
Basic runes: Hail of Blades, Press the Attack, Grasp of the Undying, Gathering Storm.
Aside from Sett's four innate abilities, his Penetrating Power is acquired through the system. His Armament Haki, however, is something Sett cultivates himself.
The basic runes now include Press the Attack, Grasp of the Undying, and Gathering Storm, all of which effectively increase Sett's damage ceiling. With stacks of Hail of Blades, Sett can now burst down a semi-tanky fighter with ease. As for ADCs, a single glare from them would probably scare them half to death.
As the large wheel spun, a moment later, a "ding" sounded.
"Congratulations to the player for acquiring the skill 'Warp Leap'."
"Warp Leap?" Upon hearing the name, Sett was initially taken aback. He didn't immediately recognize whose skill it was. However, he quickly realized who it was when he saw the skill icon.
The ultimate ability of Ryze, the wandering mage.
Skill Description: The user will open a portal to teleport themselves and all units within the portal's range that are considered "friendly forces." The jump range can be adjusted using the "Heroic Will" ability. The maximum range is 40 kilometers. Cooldown: 24 hours.
Forty kilometers? Upon seeing this distance, Sett wasn't immediately excited. He knew that in this world, distances couldn't be measured in kilometers. In a world where 95% of the land is ocean, the distance was roughly twenty nautical miles.
Yes, twenty nautical miles is enough to serve as a strategic deterrent. And since it can be released every 24 hours, even if Sett is arrested, he doesn't need to worry about not being able to escape.
Of course, this ability doesn't enhance Sett's actual strength much; it's more of a strategic deterrent.
At least, it has little effect on current spiritual practice.
Thinking about it, Sett then turned his gaze to another roulette wheel.
That's the basic rune wheel—compared to the skill wheel, which is full of uncertainty, the rune wheel is much more useful. For one thing, the Grasp of the Undying already provides Sett with nearly 70% extra vitality…
Draw, then choose. Three options are placed in front of Sett: Spirit Hunter, Minion Dematerializer, and Scorch.
Somewhat disappointing, Sett's luck was clearly not good this time; all three of his skills were from minor talent trees. The effect of Spirit Hunter is to provide a portion of the hero's item skill haste based on the number of heroes killed. Simply put, killing a certain number of strong heroes reduces the cooldown of item skills.
However, considering that the equipment options have not yet been updated, Sett simply skipped over it.
Initially, Sett was somewhat interested in the Minion Dematerializer, but after seeing that its effect could only be used on those classified as "minions," he didn't hesitate to give up—the minions in this world were so weak that they could be killed with a sneeze.
As for the last talent, Scorch, it's not a great talent either. Skill attacks inflict an additional burning effect. It's very useful in the early game, dealing extra skill damage and enhancing lane dominance, with a 10-second cooldown. However, in the late game, it's practically negligible, purely a skill for gaining lane advantage. If you had to pinpoint its strengths, it's only that Scorch is triggered by attacks detected in the real world.
After much deliberation, Sett ultimately chose to remain anxious.
It's not because Scorch is particularly strong, but because Scorch isn't as bad as other skills...
This system update didn't yield many benefits. The Scorch rune is barely noticeable, and the Warp Throw effect isn't particularly useful for Sett right now—though it would be quite useful in-game, given that Warp Throw's passive increases Ryze's Surge damage by 30%. However, this extra damage is based on Ryze's existing skill set. Without Ryze's passive and skill set, Sett's only viable option is Group Teleport.
I fall asleep, and upon waking, I continue my practice.
Today's training isn't Armament Haki or Observation Haki, but rather the Six Styles of the Navy.
“The training of Armament Haki is a long-term process,” Zephyr said. “Yesterday was to let you know the principles of Armament Haki, and from today onwards, I will begin to hone your bodies and wills. I hope that while mastering the Six Powers of the Navy, you will also learn how to use Armament Haki!”
"Oh!"
The navy soldiers nearby roared with fighting spirit. Sett remained completely calm in response.
Having already mastered Armament Haki, he had absolutely no idea where these marines' fighting spirit came from.
is it hard?
As for the Six Powers of the Navy… frankly, it's just a technique for manipulating muscles and the direction of power. Armament Haki could at least stump Sett for a month. But what about the Six Powers of the Navy?
Being able to stump Sett for a week is already the limit of this skill set... No, in terms of strength, apart from Shave and Moonwalk, the others can't even be considered qualified "skills" by the system...
61. The Shadow on the Beach
The system is very strict in judging skills. Even if Sett personally trains, it doesn't mean that what is judged as a skill can be used as a skill.
As far as Sett knows, the system determines a skill's worth based on at least two factors: firstly, it must be a signature move, like Sett's "Unleash Your Power." Although it's simply using "Power" to enhance the force of a punch, it's only recognized as a skill because it's been used countless times in the ring.
Either it has an irreplaceable effect.
