Settsetse! The Pirate Nemesis
Page 22
The Six Styles of the Navy, as far as Sett knows, are Paper Drawing, Finger Pistol, Iron Body, Tempest Kick, Shave, and Moonwalk.
The effect of the paper drawing technique is to make one's body sway with the opponent's punches, thus dodging close-range continuous attacks—but for Sett, this skill is utterly useless. This is because Sett can convert pain into dopamine, adrenaline, and stamina in equal amounts. Furthermore, considering the inherent resilience of a half-orc's body—the more damage he receives, the greater the destructive power Sett can generate.
Dodge the opponent's attacks? Don't be ridiculous. Even when Zeff punched Sett head-on, Sett didn't dodge. You expect Sett to dodge other people's attacks?
Finger pistols are utterly useless. As the name suggests, fingers are like bullets with powerful penetrating force—but if you have the chance to poke someone with your fingers, why would you rather punch them in the face? A real man punches them to death; poking around with your fingers won't get you nail fungus.
The iron block technique is barely usable; it increases muscle density and thus strengthens defense. However, the cost is a drastic drop in speed—and conflicts with Armament Haki—so there's no point in training it. Learning it would be a waste of time.
The Tempest Kick is also decent; it creates wind blades with each kick to slash enemies. As a rare ranged damage skill, Sett is willing to spend some extra time practicing it occasionally…
The first two are better than nothing. But the remaining two are top-notch in both versatility and functionality.
Shave can achieve a flash-like effect through a burst of speed from the toes. However, performing dozens of high-speed kicks in place within a mere 0.36 seconds to achieve high-speed movement is absurd, but considering that Devil Fruits exist in this world, violating the law of conservation of energy, Sett didn't pay much attention. Considering the pre-cast animation, it's more like Ezreal's E skill than a flash.
The effect of a high-speed, trackless movement with a short wind-up on a clumsy melee character like Sett should be familiar to anyone who has played OBA games.
Why were Darius and Sett able to dominate the top lane again? Why were they able to return to the competitive scene?
The reason is that the dash provided by the Advance Destroyer gives them room to maneuver in team fights, right?
And now, they directly possess a Flash with almost no cooldown...
If a designer dared to create a design like this, the whole family and relatives would probably be preparing to go to a banquet the next day...
As for Moonwalk, it is a technique of stepping on the air. After learning it, one can walk in the air. However, compared to ordinary actions, both Shave and Moonwalk will consume dozens of times more energy.
Coincidentally, Sett has no shortage of physical strength. Putting everything else aside, in real-world time, Sett can stack an average of four to five thousand layers of the Undying Grip a day. If it weren't for the time he needs to train so he can't be distracted, he could probably stack even more.
Training can be tedious, and loneliness is a common occurrence for Sett. However, Sett did gain other things besides training. For example, he learned about the Navy's intelligence—the elite squad members came from all corners of the seas, some even from the Grand Line. Through their snippets of conversation, Sett learned a great deal about this world and its various legends.
Sett felt a little sorry that Robin wasn't by his side, because Sett knew that with his focus, this kind of information would probably be forgotten soon... Sett wasn't the kind of cultured person like Robin who would carry a notebook with him at all times.
Thinking about it this way, I even miss my little dog-headed strategist a bit.
Just as Sett was still lost in thought, he suddenly felt some abrupt ripples in the seawater.
Sett's keen combat instincts led him to look in the direction from which the fluctuations were coming. The waters of the East Sea were very clear, and with Sett's sharp eyesight, he could clearly see a dark shape on the seabed approaching the beach.
Slightly intrigued, Sett stood up and picked up a pebble about half the size of a bar of soap. He didn't use much force, just casually tossed it away.
With a splash—accompanied by a small spray of water—the dark figure paused, revealing a deep red head with a long beard amidst the white waves. Before Sett could get a clear look, the figure's expression changed drastically upon spotting the naval warship not far behind Sett. It then dove back into the water, fleeing in another direction.
"Oh~~"
Seeing such an amusing reaction, Sett let out a meaningful hiss.
62. Fisher Tiger
If that shadowy figure had simply gone ashore peacefully, Sett wouldn't have said or done anything. But now it's different; that guy actually fled in terror after seeing the navy flag…
That's really interesting.
As Sett pondered this, a hint of amusement in his eyes, he picked up piece after piece of the sand from the beach. Then, a golden aura quickly spread across Sett's palms—after this period of training, although the Armament Haki binding on other parts of his body still required a short pre-cast animation, the power to unleash it in his palms and fists had been released swiftly.
Is he hiding something? Or did he do something he shouldn't have? Or is he simply a pirate?
None of that matters, what matters is that we're having fun!
"Be very careful, lest you get executed by cannon fire!!!"
Then, the gold began to spread from Sett's palm. Soon, the stone in his hand was tinged with golden light—Armed Haki, Adhesion. It could adhere for a maximum of three seconds. Within those three seconds, Sett could detonate the Adhesion-enhanced Armed Haki at any time!
Accompanying this arrogant voice was a series of sharp, tearing sounds that echoed through the air.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Bang! Bang!
Arms blurred into afterimages, and with each swing, stones were hurled one after another. Like whistling cannonballs, they struck the water, creating massive splashes. The once calm sea instantly became a raging torrent, the increased air pressure accompanied by flying debris. The detonated Armament Haki made these seemingly ordinary stones far more dangerous than cannonballs!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Huge splashes of water erupted one after another, drawing the attention of the nearby navy personnel.
"What is that guy doing?" Smoker, who was in the Iron Body training, looked at the huge splash of water with some doubt.
"Maybe he's just playing around with frying fish," Tina said casually, seemingly unconcerned. Her pretty face was etched with "habit," as if she were already used to Sett's sudden outbursts. "This guy's always like this..."
Tina has seen Sett wrestle with Mundo next door more than once because he was bored—and the scene was much more exciting than when he fought with her.
Unbeknownst to the navy, a red figure was darting about underwater amidst the dense barrage of fire. But even the most agile body proved utterly powerless against such relentless bombardment.
The shockwave penetrated the water, shaking the massive body violently. Swimming was out of the question; even maintaining balance seemed impossible!
"Damn it... It really is the pursuing Marines!"
The fish-man named Fisher Tiger gritted his teeth. His body was covered in wounds, but these weren't from Sett's bombardment—Sett wasn't going to let this hard-won fun just end like that. Therefore, the shock caused Tiger more nausea and a strong urge to vomit due to the internal organ tremors.
"But it's alright... the ocean floor is the mermaids' domain!"
Forcibly suppressing his agitated internal organs, Tiger's gaze was filled with solemnity. However, just as he was about to force his way through the unknown golden barrage, a face suddenly appeared beside his ear.
As the deep sea washed over him, Sett's red hair appeared even darker. Although Sett couldn't speak due to the seawater, Tiger could still read his words from his lip movements: "Where do you want to go?"
A strong chill suddenly crept up his spine and into his heart. Even underwater, Tiger could clearly feel his back being soaked with cold sweat.
Without hesitation, Tiger's eyes narrowed to pinpoints. He was on high alert, yet also filled with the pride of being a mermaid—on land, he might have no chance of resistance. But underwater, it was the mermaids' domain!
Under the immense resistance of the water, even bullets struggle to travel more than three meters. Mermaids, however, live on the seabed from birth. Their control and perception of water flow are like instincts etched into their genes. Three times—or at least three times! Mermaids can exert at least three times more power underwater!!!
He swung his hand violently. Using the mermaid's webbed feet, which grew on his toes like duck feet, Tiger gripped the current beside him tightly. His muscles bulged, and the raging water slammed towards Sett like a giant, flying log.
Fishman Karate - Water Throw Reverse!!!
Sett's lips curled into a smile at this. His right fist clenched, displaying a defiant and powerful Armament Haki—just as Tiger had suspected, the resistance in the water did indeed affect the speed and power of an attack.
However, this rule does not apply to Sett!
The moment it was swung, the still waters seemed to boil instantly. With a powerful swing, the seawater, unable to fill the void, left behind only a vacuum!
"Get hyped up!!!"
63. Then I'll go.
"So easily beaten?"
Sett's face was filled with disgust as he looked at Tiger, who had already fallen into a coma.
I thought this red guy could at least put up a couple of punches. But when the fight actually started, before Sett could even put up any effort, the guy just passed out.
With one punch, the water-throwing man was directly hit three times, and he also lost consciousness due to the shock.
Sett was puzzled, because in his perception, this guy shouldn't be this weak. It wasn't until he got closer that Sett realized where the problem lay—the wound.
This guy's body was covered in wounds. From left to right, from top to bottom. Almost every part of his body was covered in scars. It's just a pity that his skin was red, and with the poor lighting underwater, Sett didn't notice at first... The blood mixed with seawater further activated Sett's violent tendencies.
However, it was precisely because of the dilution by seawater that Sett failed to notice the smell of blood.
Sett loves fighting, but he doesn't like bullying the old, weak, sick, or disabled—and right now, isn't this merman just that?
Sett clicked his tongue in a slightly annoyed tone, and then, dragging his fluffy hair, he returned to the island.
Tiger didn't know how long he had been unconscious, but he felt a sharp pain all over his body. The seawater was violently shaking, and Tiger could feel the bruising his soft brain inside his skull.
Fortunately, the mermaid's powerful physique allowed Tiger to quickly regain his strength.
Looking around, there was soft sand. Half the sun had already hidden behind the ocean, and the evening clouds painted half the sky like burning flames.
Where...is this place?
Tiger felt his head was spinning. Before losing consciousness, the only things he remembered were red hair, golden fists, and the barrage of bullets that created countless waves of light...
"Yo~ You're awake? Little Fishman~"
Sett, with one end of a coconut tree tied to the ground and a coconut in his hand, was lounging in the sun with his legs crossed. Upon seeing Sett, Tiger quickly recalled everything that had happened before he fell asleep. His gaze immediately turned serious, and he was about to run away when he realized that Sett had no intention of harming him, and he was completely unrestrained.
"...Aren't you a navy officer?"
Fisher Tiger looked at Sett with some wariness. Sett responded casually, "Don't compare that bunch of trash to me."
"..." Although somewhat puzzled by Sett's identity, Tiger breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that Sett wasn't a Marine. He glanced at his wounds, then took out some prepared herbs from his waterproof pocket to treat them.
Having finally been pulled out of the ship, I finally have a chance to rest and recuperate... As for Sett, I couldn't defeat him when I was in the water, let alone now that I've just woken up from my slumber and am on land.
"You must be the legendary fishman?"
Sett looked at Tiger with some curiosity: "I heard you live on Fishman Island? What brings you here?"
Upon hearing this, although he didn't understand Sett's identity, Tiger still said, "I'm not a fish-man, I'm a mermaid."
Is there a difference?
“There is a difference… Fishmen have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish. Mermaids are like me, with a human appearance but fish-like features.” As he spoke, Tiger seemed to have thought of something and added, “For you humans, fishmen are more valuable. Because female fishmen are more in line with your aesthetic standards.”
When Tiger said this, there seemed to be something suppressed in his voice. But this suppression wasn't directed at Sett; it seemed more like it was directed at what he had seen and heard.
"Is that so?" Sett remained noncommittal. Having never been to Fishman Island, and Tiger being the first fishman Sett had met who was described as a mermaid or something, it had to be said that he did indeed not quite match Sett's impression of him.
"What do you do?" Ser asked. "Let me tell you straight, the naval base is less than two hundred meters to the west. Tell me the truth, or I'll send you to jail right now!"
Hearing this, Tiger looked at Sett. Although it was a threat, Sett's voice remained relaxed, and there was little coercion in his words. Especially his unruly demeanor; no matter how Tiger looked at him, he didn't seem like a Marine at all…
At the very least, it is definitely not a normal navy.
After a moment of silence, Tiger said, "I am a slave."
"Oh, what a coincidence?" Hearing this, Sett raised an eyebrow: "I had a secretary who used to be a slave~ How come I always run into slaves every time I go to sea?"
Upon hearing that Sett also had slaves, Tiger's heart sank. He subconsciously assumed that Sett was a nobleman who had come out for a stroll—but could those pot-bellied nobles really have such power?
Tiger wasn't sure.
However, the situation was beyond his control. Tiger took a deep breath, making a gesture as if he could jump into the sea at any moment, while opening his shirt to reveal a hoofprint scar left by a branding iron.
"I am a slave of the Celestial Dragons..."
Upon hearing this, before Sett could even speak, Tina rushed over to bring him food. Before she could utter a sound, she witnessed this astonishing scene.
"Wow……"
Tiger's eyes narrowed sharply when he saw Tina's navy uniform.
In the ensuing silence, she realized the awkwardness of the situation. Tina tilted her head slightly: "Should I leave?"
