After Anne finished healing the surrounding mages, she walked over to Alice and said with a wry smile.

"And it seems you've angered her; now she's even taken the Serpent's Eye with her..."

Alice didn't speak; she lowered her head slightly, as if she was thinking about something.

"Hey, Alice! Are you listening to me?"

Anne leaned close to Alice's ear and said loudly.

"Sister, I'm trying to figure out how to get that dragon to willingly become my partner!"

Alice looked up and said calmly.

"You haven't given up yet? Maybe this is the last time we'll ever see dragons in our lives?"

Anne said, somewhat speechless.

"Impossible. Summoned beasts would never stray too far from their masters. She and her family must live nearby."

Alice looked towards the room Noah had left and said with certainty.

"Alice, I know you're very excited to have met the dragons who have long disappeared from the continent, but isn't our primary goal to cure Mom's illness?"

Anne sighed and said helplessly.

"That dragon now possesses the eye of a snake. If I can make her my companion, then my mother can naturally be healed—killing two birds with one stone!"

Alice said calmly.

"Alice, does it have to be a dragon? She already has a master. Can't we go find another spirit beast?"

Anne hesitated for a moment before speaking hesitantly.

"To become a hero, besides your own strength, you also need powerful companions. The dragon race is the best choice. The catastrophe five hundred years ago wiped out the dragon race from the continent! The one that just appeared may be the last one on the continent. Sister, do you want me to give up?"

Alice looked at Anne and explained in a calm tone as she slowly approached her.

"Sister, you should know that becoming a hero is my greatest wish and the meaning of my life. Therefore, every step I take must be perfect! If it's not perfect, then all my previous efforts may be in vain!"

"I understand, sister, I will support you, but you also saw how that dragon treated us..."

Anne backed away, looking troubled.

“It doesn’t matter. If she lived in Snow Eagle City, she would definitely come to my side, perhaps because of the name Alice Wendy, or perhaps because of the Wendy family name.”

Alice's purple eyes shone brightly, revealing a confident smile.

"Because the Wendy family is the family that controls Snow Eagle City."

Chapter Twenty-Three: Bandages and Pig's Trotters

Not long after leaving the two sisters, the sky began to lighten.

As Noah walked back, Alice Wendy's words were still on her mind.

Noah was somewhat tempted by what Wendy said, but she couldn't accept being just a supporting character to someone else!

As a former tough guy, what's the point of being either a hero or a demon king, or being a dragon ridden by a dragon knight?!

Noah likes being passive, but not this kind of passivity!

Moreover, although Alice Wendy is pretty, Noah really has no interest in girls with a petite figure.

Most importantly, Noah stopped in her tracks. She remembered Shelley, and when Shelley spoke to her, when Shelley said she wanted to become a great magician, and the fearful yet determined look in Shelley's eyes.

Did Lord Shelley make this decision because of me?

Noah couldn't help but laugh out loud. It was still very heartwarming to have someone working hard for her.

My master is pretty good too. It's quite interesting to watch my master get stronger little by little.

But then again, why did I come to the forest in the first place...?

Noah slapped her forehead, secretly lamenting her misfortune. She suddenly realized that after working all night, she had gained nothing but two magical artifacts and a white snake.

It's impossible to make Shelley eat only roasted snake meat for breakfast... It's too greasy to eat that so early in the morning.

Noah scratched her head in exasperation and continued searching for new prey, but apart from some mushrooms and wild fruits, she found nothing edible...

Left with no other choice, Noah had to head to Snow Eagle City. Unable to find any ingredients for breakfast in the suburbs, he had to make do with whatever he could find in the city.

However, to Noah's surprise, there were quite a few people setting up stalls here early in the morning. Although it couldn't compare to the food street in his previous life, it was still enough to dazzle Noah.

When she got back after buying breakfast, she noticed that the sun overhead seemed to be slowly moving towards the center...

Noah stood in front of the dilapidated wooden house for a long time, feeling a sense of unease for some reason.

Although there was no sound in the room, Noah felt as if a ferocious monster was lurking by the door waiting for her.

This inexplicable idea startled Noah.

How could I have such thoughts? There's only Shelley in there, how could my beloved master be a ferocious monster...? Maybe...

Noah wiped the sweat from her forehead and gently knocked on the wooden door.

"Lady Shelley, I'm back..."

Noah stepped forward and gently pushed open the door. As soon as she entered, she saw Shelley sitting in the center of the room. The girl was still wearing her pajamas, and her eyes were a little red and swollen.

Shelley did not respond. She looked at Noah expressionlessly, her pale blue eyes like glass beads soaked in water, looking as if she were angry, or perhaps aggrieved.

"You're back..."

"Haha, I'm back!"

Noah's voice trembled; she couldn't quite understand Shelley now.

"I thought you weren't coming back..."

Shelley lowered her head and spoke softly.

“Lady Shelley, how could that be… I just went out to prepare breakfast ingredients.”

Noah picked up the basket in his hand and said with a wry smile.

"There was just a little something that happened in the middle, which took a little longer than expected..."

Shelley looked at Noah, her expression changed, and she said.

"Your hand is injured?"

Following Shelley's gaze, Noah noticed a thin wound on the back of her hand, covered with a thin layer of frost, with bright red blood dripping onto the floor.

Noah looked at her wound and frowned. It seemed that her body was not invincible after all; she had still suffered some injuries during the battle with the white snake.

Shelley stood up from her chair and jogged over to Noah.

"This has the aura of water magic on it, Noah, what were you doing?"

Shelley looked up, her eyes filled with confusion.

"This one..."

Noah didn't know what to say. He couldn't very well say that he had fought a white snake who called himself "God" because of a rabbit!

It sounds incredibly unrealistic.

Fortunately, Shelley did not ask any further questions. She turned back to the wooden cabinet, took out a small box from it, and walked back to Noah.

"Noah, sit there, shall I bandage your wound?"

Shelley pointed to the wooden chair beside her and said in a serious tone.

"Lady Shelley, I can actually use healing magic..."

Noah waved his hand and quickly said.

"Your rocket ascension therapy has limitations, doesn't it? It's not suitable for such a minor injury!"

Shelley took out bandages and medicine from the box, reached out and took Noah's hand, and said.

Noah actually wanted to say that he also knew other healing magic, and that this kind of injury could be healed in just a few seconds, but holding Shelley's soft little hand, Noah couldn't say those words.

Since I can't put it into words, I'll just have to enjoy it.

Noah sat obediently on the wooden chair, watching Shelley pick up the ointment, wipe away the frost and blood from Noah's hands, then take a knife, cut a piece from the bandage, and slowly apply it to the wound...

Although Shelley's careful bandaging of himself was touching, Noah still had to say what needed to be said.

"Lord Shelley, your bandaging technique is truly unique!"

Noah looked at her hands, her smile still on her face, but the light in her eyes had faded.

Her right hand was completely wrapped in bandages, and her originally slender fingers were now bound into the shape of pig's trotters.

"I'll bandage it up, it's just that I'm not in good form today, my touch is much worse..."

Shelley realized her mistake and, blushing, explained.

However, halfway through her sentence, she looked at Noah's smiling eyes, puffed out her cheeks, and the back of her ears turned bright red.

"Yes, I've never bandaged anything before. I'm such a clumsy idiot that I can't even bandage properly! Laugh if you want!"

Shelley, having given up all hope, looked at Noah and said loudly.

"How could I laugh at Lord Shelley? I have already felt your kindness, and I am truly happy."

Noah flashed his signature smile, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"Really?"

Shelley met Noah's gaze with a look of suspicion and asked in a low voice.

"Honestly, I can hardly contain my joy!"

Noah suddenly stood up, raised his right hand, and his eyes gleamed with a dazzling light.

"It's decided, I won't remove the bandage from this right hand! I want to keep Shelley's love with me forever."

"What love talk! Now that the wound is healed, get it properly removed! You perverted maid!"

Shelley rebuked Noah as usual, but she breathed a slight sigh of relief and said in a low voice.

"When I saw you weren't here this morning, I thought you were scared by what I said and ran away by yourself."
