Although the attack was ineffective, Happy's action served as a wake-up call for Thor.
First, I must get my hands on the Book of Interpretation of the Elements.
Thor raised his right hand, lightning gathered in it, and with a powerful swing, a sharp and violent lightning blade cleaved through the ground, slicing across the stone giant's right wrist.
With a whoosh, Thor flew to the top of the clenched right fist and smashed it open with a powerful blow, only to find nothing; the book wasn't there at all.
Thor realized he had been tricked. The Stone Giant's right hand was not just a right hand; being made entirely of earth and stone, it could freely replace the earth and stone within its body.
In the battle just now, the Stone Giant probably already moved the part of its body containing the Book of Elemental Interpretation to the core of its body.
This seemingly simple-minded mud giant is actually a shrewd fellow! His appearance is so deceptive!
By the time Thor realized what was happening, it was already too late. The giant stone's body was already mostly buried in the ground, connected to the continent beneath its feet. In another second or two, it would be free.
ban!
In the sky, Zhao Ling'er transformed into Nuwa's true form, waving her hand and pointing to the land below Thor, where a circle of incantations appeared around the clay giant.
The nature of the land surrounded by the forbidden patterns has changed drastically. It has transformed from ordinary soil that can be manipulated by the mud giants into a foreign land that repels non-Nuwa spiritual power.
The mud giant, who was halfway to escape, was frozen in place, unable to move.
The rest is much easier. Thor can easily hit a stationary target like this. No matter how tough it is, it's just a matter of hitting it a few more times. As for its recovery ability, the Earth Spirit Orb in Zhao Ling'er's hand can effectively counteract that.
After the entire clay giant was dismantled, the Book of Interpretation of the Elements also fell out of the stone giant's body.
Thor was sweating profusely; the ground beneath his feet was so hard that it would be difficult to build a road later.
Honestly, at first glance, this scene looks a bit like a game: fighting monsters for loot and completing side quests to get information about the next quest – these are definitely game elements.
After obtaining the Book of Elemental Interpretation, Zhao Ling'er flipped through it and found something amiss.
There are four main elements: fire, water, earth, and wind.
Other, less common elemental beings, without a stable anchor point, are unable to cross the world's barriers and enter this world.
The water element was dealt with by Zhao Ling'er in Venice, the wind element was dealt with by Thor on the way back to New York, the earth element has been dealt with now, and there should be one fire element left.
However, in the Book of Elemental Interpretation, patterns representing being summoned appeared on every page, meaning that all four main elements have already appeared on Earth.
Now the question is, when was the fire elemental summoned? And when was it defeated?
With a wave of her hand, Zhao Ling'er gathered a faint spiritual energy around her, and the energy storage array opened, sealing the residual energy of the fire element's tail-cutting attempt to survive that day.
Thor and Zhao Ling'er initially thought the fire element was very decisive, but after comparing it with the pages of the book, Zhao Ling'er had a bold idea: the fire element's projection into this world might be gone, and what's stored in the energy storage array might be its last remnant.
That's true. Fire elemental beings from any world are known for their explosive tempers. Even if they try to survive by cutting off their tails, those tails will definitely explode.
After guessing this, Zhao Ling'er began to speculate on who had dealt with the fire element. It wasn't hard to guess; in this world, there were only a handful of allies capable of dealing with the fire element.
If the Avengers heroes had resolved the crisis, it's impossible for them all to have left Earth. Knowing that three of the Elementals hadn't appeared yet, they would have had to leave at least one person behind to deal with the potential danger.
Even if he had to leave, he would definitely have informed Nick Fury and the others in advance, so that while giving them a heads-up, they wouldn't have produced a clown like Baker.
Therefore, there is only one possible candidate left, and that is Dumbledore, who has already reached the legendary level.
However, this raises another point of contradiction. According to the phantom of the spellbook, Dumbledore wanted to obtain the Book of Interpretation from the Elementals, but he failed due to time constraints.
If Dumbledore didn't get the book, who was the first to activate the summoning? Was it Supergiant? Then why didn't she take the book with her? Leaving it on Earth doesn't make sense.
While Zhao Ling'er was thinking, Peter ran back to Mei's side; he could no longer accept the sacrifice of his last relative.
Fortunately, Mei protected herself quite well and was not injured at all.
Happy fell behind Peter and May. When Peter turned to look at him, Happy scratched his head and asked, "Um, does what you said at the beginning still count?"
Peter glanced back at May. May didn't say anything, but from her expression, it was clear that she hoped for his blessing.
“Yes,” Peter nodded.
Happy's face lit up with joy; he's about to find love!
"Don't be so happy yet. You're not allowed to bully Mei anymore, or I'll tear you apart!" Peter clenched his fists. This was the first time he had used his power to intimidate someone.
Happy chuckled and nodded repeatedly.
May gently patted Peter's head. "Don't talk about others. Let's go back and have a good talk about what all this spider silk means."
Chapter 380 Waste Utilization
By the time Jess had obtained the Book of Elemental Interpretation, he was far away in Venice and had made solid progress.
"Found it! I really am a genius!" Jess slammed his hand on the table, startling Nick Fury who was sitting next to him.
"What did you find?" Nick Fury leaned over and glanced at the screen, which was covered with a dense array of numbers and graphs he couldn't understand at all. "What are these?"
“If you can understand this, you’re a genius,” Jess scoffed. “Simply put, this is the frequency fluctuation that’s preventing me from communicating.”
"Blocking communications?" Nick Fury glanced at his phone; the signal was full, showing no signs of obstruction.
Jess glanced at the outdated communication equipment. "No need to look at it. It's not designed for such backward things. Just like full-channel blocking doesn't affect your ability to shout and transmit sound waves."
Nick Fury remained silent. The world was developing too fast; some technologies had advanced to a point that even he, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., could not comprehend.
"Thor, is Commissioner Zhao with you?" Jess sent Thor a communication request and spoke directly after the call was connected.
“I’m here, you can speak,” Zhao Ling’er’s voice came through.
“I’ve discovered the problem…” Jess paused here, seemingly thinking about how to explain it clearly to a layman. After organizing his thoughts, he continued, “Currently, this star system is filled with an anomalous energy, like a net with filtering capabilities, specifically blocking quantum communication and inter-universe information exchange.”
"Is it only found in this star system?" Zhao Ling'er asked immediately afterward.
“I can’t be sure. I don’t have enough equipment. The maximum detection range of the device is only one light-year. According to the feedback data, it’s at least this star system.” Jess said, looking at the large room full of equipment in front of him. Even the most skilled cook can’t cook without rice. No matter how talented he is, he can’t create more advanced equipment without the materials.
Putting everything else aside, there isn't even a Hextech crystal here. Just figuring out how to convert some of the equipment's functions from Hextech to electricity is difficult enough. And that's only with Tony's research paper from the main universe as a foundation. Otherwise, if we started from scratch, we probably wouldn't even have calculated the first set of data yet.
"What do you need me to do?" Zhao Ling'er asked crisply.
"What is the largest possible array that the Five Elemental Pearls can construct?"
"About 15,000 kilometers."
Jess fell silent. The number was much smaller than he had imagined; it was only enough to cover the size of the Earth, which was still not enough to solve the current situation.
"I can only increase the diameter by ten times at most, but that would mean I would be incapacitated for a period of time," Zhao Ling'er added. She was only a sub-legendary, and without the Nuwa clan's bloodline transmission network or spiritual energy pool, this was already her limit.
“No need, we need an amplifier.” Jess’s mind raced, trying to figure out where in the world he could take on the role of an amplifier.
The plan can only succeed if the effective range of the array is expanded to at least one-tenth of a light-year. 150,000 kilometers is far too small compared to one-tenth of a light-year.
"Is there anything I can do?" Thor asked anxiously.
"Do you know any formations? Do you know how to use energy to counteract the restrictive networks set up by others? Or, can your domain spread throughout the entire star system via gravitational pathways? Just maintaining it for one second would be enough," Jess asked quickly.
Thor fell silent. He was good at fighting, but he wasn't so good at these things. This wasn't something you could just try on a whim. Without enough knowledge, trying blindly would only expose yourself and waste your energy.
Jess sighed. He hadn't considered that the communication situation here would be this bad when he came. Was he going to have to wait for the second batch of support to arrive? According to the original plan, the second batch of personnel would depart within a week if they did not receive any response from them.
Just then, an image flashed through Jess's mind: a building praised by Heimerdinger as a cosmic wonder, and one that had been featured in countless textbooks to broaden students' horizons.
“Wait a minute…” Jess thought about it more and more and felt that this was an opportunity. “Thor, there should be Asgard in this universe, right?”
“Of course, though that’s in the past,” Thor replied, the destruction of Asgard still a source of pain for him.
“Then there should be a rainbow bridge, right?” Jess smiled.
"Yes, but... that thing should only be a ruin now." Thor said awkwardly. The Rainbow Bridge in this world, like the main universe, is one of the lifelines of Asgard. Unfortunately, compared to the main universe, the Rainbow Bridge here has suffered a much worse fate.
First, it was smashed in two by Thor's hammer, and not long after it was repaired, Asgard was destroyed again by the fire giants, along with the Bifrost.
"It's alright, as long as the ruins are still big enough. When I was at the Hextech Research Institute, I discussed with others how to repair the Rainbow Bridge if it were to break. Odin even read our papers and repair designs. Later, he also gave us some data, which included maintenance data for the Rainbow Bridge and its main structural classifications."
As Jess spoke, he searched through the equipment in front of him. “Although our repair plan was ultimately deemed invalid, Professor Heimerdinger still guided us based on our ideas. The teleportation device on Tony’s latest armor is somewhat reminiscent of the Bifrost, and my Mercury Hammer also has a jet device that was upgraded based on the Bifrost energy emission system.”
"Ha, found it! Luckily, even though I thought Viktor's idea was ridiculous, I still kept his design." Jess looked at the document with a smile. To be honest, he almost deleted it, but then he was afraid that Viktor would find out and argue with him, so he left it.
Victor's idea was much bolder than Tony's and Jess's. He admired glorious evolution and valued the Rainbow Bridge's positioning and information transmission technology, as well as its almost lossless light-year transmission technology. Therefore, his design was an electronic brain that referenced the Rainbow Bridge's amplification technology.
This technology allows for the simultaneous control of countless technological creations over extremely long distances. Of course, there are other challenges that need to be addressed, such as encryption and anti-interference technologies.
Clearly, the technical difficulty was too great. Heimerdinger only offered a token encouragement. Viktor had been pondering this for so long without making any progress. On the contrary, the amplification of his mental power was becoming more and more exaggerated.
Without considering the limits of electronic components and the operator's mental strength, this thing can increase the control range by a million times. Don't forget that this is only using some ordinary materials. If all the materials are the original Rainbow Bridge materials that have an amplification effect, this value may soar to a hundred million times.
“I think I have a general idea of what you’re thinking, but there’s a problem: how do we get to Asgard from here? If we try to fly by, the second batch of support might arrive before we even leave the star system,” Thor said, throwing cold water on our plans.
"Huh?" This time it was Jess's turn to be stunned. He had indeed overlooked this point. It turned out that in the main universe, you could go to Asgard by taking the Rainbow Bridge, or at least there were established teleportation nodes. So, Jess had never thought about how to get there.
"I'll handle it," Zhao Ling'er said confidently.
Six hours later, millions of kilometers away from Earth, Zhao Ling'er, Jess, and Thor floated in space. In front of them were the Five Elemental Pearls, which had returned to their normal size, each with a diameter of about one hundred kilometers.
"The coordinates are correct, right? We can only attempt this once. If it fails, we'll have to wait for reinforcements to arrive," Zhao Ling'er emphasized again.
“As long as the relative coordinates Thor gave me are correct, I’ll be fine here.” Jess’s voice was muffled. He couldn’t survive in space with his physical body yet; he had to wear equipment.
The sound emitted from the equipment and propagated through the spiritual energy medium resulted in considerable distortion.
“There’s no mistake, I’ll never forget that place.” Thor sighed.
"Then I'll begin." Zhao Ling'er gently moved her hand in the empty universe. There was nothing in front of her palm, but judging from the speed and state, there seemed to be a great obstacle there.
Under Zhao Ling'er's "push," the five elemental beads began to rotate faster and the distance between them began to shorten, as they moved closer to a common center.
Knock knock knock. Jess became a little nervous. He had never heard of the Five Elemental Pearls being able to simulate the Big Bang at the beginning of creation, and that this Big Bang was controllable. However, since Zhao Ling'er, the holder, had said so, he had nothing to question.
Half an hour later, the Five Elemental Pearls had reached their maximum spinning speed. Zhao Ling'er took a deep breath and squeezed them tightly.
boom!
The light emitted by the collision of the five elemental pearls overshadowed the brightness of the sun. The terrifying shock first pushed everything around them outwards. A second or two later, the singularity collapsed, the light began to distort, and a terrifying, black hole-like hole appeared at the center of the collision.
Zhao Ling'er waved her hand and caught the five spirit orbs that had been flung away. The immense suction force made her almost unsteady on her feet.
"Jess! Is there a problem with the data?!" Zhao Ling'er shouted while simultaneously controlling her spiritual power to send out information. Under the immense suction force, neither spiritual power nor sound waves could propagate as normally.
Holding Thor in his arms, Jess compared the key points that could be confirmed so far, and there were indeed no mistakes. However, even if these things matched up, Jess had no idea whether he could successfully cross the terrifying distance to reach his destination without any spatial passage.
no problem!
Despite feeling uneasy, Jess still gave a thumbs up, and Thor's surrounding domain began to be stretched and deformed, the suction force reaching its peak.
set off!
Zhao Ling'er released the Five Elemental Pearls again, encircling the three people together, and then directly entered the singularity.
