After its death, the wind monster's overflowing energy formed a terrifying storm, spontaneously sweeping across everything around it and growing stronger. If left unchecked, all countries in the storm's path would suffer greatly.
In order to completely eliminate this danger, Thor was busy without stopping for a second. Fortunately, there was a technical expert named Jess behind him. Jess's database contained various methods to solve "natural" storms. Relying on these methods, Thor barely managed to solve everything.
Zhao Ling'er mentally calculated the distance and decided that she should go to Stark Industries herself. By the time Thor flew back, she might already have the book in her hands.
What Zhao Ling'er didn't know was that Happy wasn't working as Pepper's bodyguard at Stark Industries; he was at Aunt May's house—yes, Peter's house.
"Happy, long time no see." Peter came downstairs and greeted Happy, who was sitting on the sofa.
Peter and Happy had always had a good relationship, and because Happy didn't act like a senior like many people his age, Peter always called Happy "brother."
"Haha, long time no see." When Happy saw Peter, he became restless, scratching his head and touching his face as if he had heat rash.
Peter found it a little strange, but he didn't think much of it. He turned around and went into the kitchen to help. Aunt May was not young, and she had to work and cook at home, so Peter would usually take the initiative to help with whatever he could.
Normally, Aunt May would be quite happy inside, but she would still tell Peter to go to his room to read and study. At this point, Peter would pretend not to hear her.
But today, everything seemed a little different. Not only did Aunt May not kick Peter out, but she was also a little absent-minded while cooking, almost putting salt in instead of sugar.
“Aunt May, what happened?” Peter took the sugar jar from Aunt May’s hand and asked.
"No, well, your Uncle Happy brought you a gift. I left it in your room. You came back too late yesterday, so I didn't tell you." Aunt Mei wiped the sweat from her forehead, her smile forced, seemingly very nervous.
"A gift? What gift? I don't need anything!" Peter looked at Aunt May, feeling a bit confused. This feeling was unsettling; it seemed as if these two were hiding something from him.
I'm the one who's closest to you all!
Why is this happening? One is my closest relative, and the other is an elder who is like a friend. How come it seems like I'm no longer involved?
Peter shook his head, realizing he couldn't think about it anymore. It wasn't even winter yet; what was he thinking?
“I don’t know what the gift is either. Go ask him yourself,” Aunt May said, nudging Peter.
After leaving the kitchen, Peter felt something was even more wrong. How could Aunt May not know what the gift was? What if it was something valuable? This wasn't like Aunt May at all.
"Hey, Happy, sit a little longer, the food will be ready soon," Peter said.
Happy nodded, then his eyes started darting around, avoiding Peter's gaze. The atmosphere became inexplicably awkward. To ease the tension, Happy raised his water glass and drank it all in one gulp.
Peter didn't even have time to stop it. That was a one-liter cup. What was it going to do?
“Happy, Aunt May said you gave me a gift? What kind of gift is it? If it’s something valuable, I can’t accept it,” Peter said, afraid that Happy would drink too much water if he didn’t say something soon.
"It's not valuable, it's not valuable, it's just a small thing." Happy was unusually nervous, making the atmosphere stiff again.
Peter got restless from the atmosphere and made an excuse to go back to his room to check on the gifts. Then, Aunt May and Happy's strange behavior kept repeating in Peter's mind.
What are these two people hiding from me?
Peter sat down at the table, where a very nicely wrapped book sat. This must be Happy's gift.
Peter pushed the book aside, propped his head up with his hand, and wasn't in the mood to unwrap the gift.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on Peter's door.
Happy looked at Peter standing in the doorway, took a deep breath, and said, "Peter, there's something I want to tell you."
"What's wrong?" Peter became a little nervous because of Happy.
“I…I proposed to May the day before yesterday, and she said yes,” Happy said earnestly, looking at Peter.
"A proposal? That's great." Peter didn't quite grasp it at first. "...Wait, who did you say it was for?!"
“Mei…” Happy’s voice suddenly became much softer.
With a snap, a spiderweb shot out of Peter's hand and landed on the doorstep, a sight that nearly made Peter lose his composure.
"Well, it's really nothing. You can still call me 'brother' from now on. We can call each other whatever we want, it won't cause any problems," Happy said in a fluster.
“You go first, I…” Peter didn’t know what to say for a moment, and he didn’t know whether to object or agree.
"Um, I was the one who proposed to Mei, so please don't take it out on me later," Happy continued earnestly.
“Get away!” Peter shouted; he just wanted to be alone.
A series of rapid tapping sounds rang out; it was the sound of Mei hurrying upstairs.
Chapter 379 The Book of Elemental Interpretation
By the time May ran up, Peter had already closed the door, leaving a bewildered Happy outside, unsure of what to do.
"May, is it because he doesn't agree..." Happy looked a little aggrieved. When May agreed to his proposal, the only request she made was to get Peter's consent.
"I'll do it, you go down first." Mei gently pushed Happy away from the doorway.
Happy stood behind May, turning back every step of the way, looking expectantly at the door to Peter's room.
"Peter, Peter, open the door, let's talk," May said, gently knocking on the door.
“Aunt May, I want to be alone,” Peter’s voice came from inside the door.
"Are you sure?" Mei asked immediately afterward.
Peter, who was inside the door, was a little annoyed. He didn't reply, but picked up Happy's gift from the table and quickly unwrapped it.
A book interpreting the elements?
After Peter read out the title, he paused and realized something was wrong. This should be the book that Baker had. How did it end up in Happy's hands and be given to him as a gift?
Just then, a yellowish-brown light flashed across the page, followed by a tremendous force that burst forth from the book, sending Peter flying to the ground.
With a rumble, the whole house began to shake, and the concrete on the ground cracked little by little, as if something was about to emerge from the ground.
Amidst the massive tremors, Mei panicked. It looked exactly like an earthquake. She pounded on the door, shouting, "Peter! Peter! Run! Earthquake!"
Inside the room, Peter struggled to get closer to the book, trying to close it, but the surging force made it impossible for him to move.
*Bang!* A leg kicked through the door panel, and then Happy's hand reached in from the outside. The broken door panel cut his skin, leaving bright red blood. After groping around for a bit, Happy unlocked the door and then pushed it open with all his might.
"Peter! Get out of here first! We'll talk about this later!" Happy shouted at Peter, holding May in one arm.
"You guys run first!" Peter shot out spider webs with both hands, using the two webs as cover to move forward little by little.
Mei was startled by the scene, but Happy immediately realized that the book that was shining with light was the gift he had brought!
He just wanted to buy an old book as a gift for Peter! How did it turn out like this?!
With a snap, the spiderweb-covered wall broke and fell off as Peter dragged it along, and Peter, who had barely moved forward a meter, was thrown out again.
Immediately afterwards, the ceiling began to shake, and chunks of concrete fell down.
No! It's too late!
Peter made a decision in his mind, stretched out his right hand, and the spider web bound May and Happy together. Then, with a forceful pull, Peter grabbed the two of them and led them out of the window.
As soon as they landed, a giant hand rose from the ground, piercing through the entire house and grabbing the book. The next second, the stone giant swayed as it crawled out of the ground, its shoulders shaking as it completely turned the house into ruins.
The enormous stone figure is over twenty meters tall and covered with a yellowish stone helmet. Its actions of breaking through the ground and destroying houses have left no trace on its helmet.
“I agree to your deal! Run away with May!” Peter said hastily, then untied the spider webs from Happy and May.
Then he turned around abruptly, swung his spider webs and rushed towards the stone giant, disregarding the possibility of being exposed. He charged straight at it, determined to keep the book and prevent the monster from taking it away!
“Peter!” May called out, reaching out to try and keep Peter.
"Let's go, let's go! Staying here will only cause him trouble!" Happy muttered to Mei, then scooped her up in his arms and ran. Once they reached a slightly safer spot, Happy put Mei down. "You keep running! I'll go help him!"
As he spoke, Happy pointed his watch at the sky and sent out a signal. A satellite bearing the Stark Industries logo slowly opened in the planet's orbit, and a simple Mark armor suit spewed flames and was quickly airdropped down.
This is Happy's custom-made armor, which Tony made for him before he left.
Click, click, click! The airdrop split into several pieces in mid-air and quickly reassembled on Happy's body.
"Take care of yourself!" Happy, fully armed, gave Mei her final words of advice.
May nodded, not saying anything more. Saying anything at this time would be inappropriate and would only add to Happy and Peter's burden.
Happy looked in Peter's direction. Under the attack of the stone giant, Peter was struggling to stay afloat, relying on his spider silk. There were no tall buildings around, which greatly limited Peter's agility.
Seeing that Peter was struggling more and more in the fight, Happy ignited the thrusters of his armor and quickly flew towards the battlefield.
Laser scanning!
Two laser beams shot out from Happy's hands, crisscrossing and striking the Stone Giant. Under the influence of the lasers, two scorch marks extended across the Stone Giant's body. The damage was minimal, but it certainly drew the enemy's attention.
Roar! The stone giant opened its mouth and roared, the sound shaking up the surrounding shattered concrete blocks. These blocks paused in the air for a second before spinning and crashing down on Happy one after another.
Peter rolled backward, his right hand pointing towards the sky, and with a whoosh, several spiderwebs shot out, deflecting the clods of earth slightly.
Happy's forehead was sweating slightly under his helmet. His armor operation skills were no match for Tony Stark's, not to mention his mastery of the armor. They were worlds apart. If it weren't for Peter's help, he might have been smashed away just now.
The stone giant clenched its fist and slammed it into the ground. Rings of spikes spread outwards from beneath the stone giant's feet. If Peter were hit, he would be turned into a string of candied hawthorns.
Peter leaped off the ground with a powerful kick, but before he could even feel relieved to have dodged the blow, he saw a huge boulder spinning and crashing down on him. With no structures around to use for leverage, Peter could only brace his hands in front of him, bracing himself for the impact.
Boom!
A muffled clap of thunder sounded in the sky, and the rock in front of Peter exploded, with small shards of dirt hitting Peter's arm and causing him pain.
However, this also means that reinforcements have arrived.
Thor, who arrived just in time, grabbed Peter by the collar and, in a flash, dragged him away from the center of the area.
"Same as always, you're in charge of protecting innocent people, leave this to me."
Thor said something to Peter, then charged forward again, delivering an uppercut to the stone giant.
The stone giant floated up several meters, the stones under its jaws shattered and fell off, and then it crashed to the ground with a loud thud, causing the earth to shake violently.
so hard!
While suspended in mid-air, Thor loosened his fist. This thing wasn't very powerful and had a limited attack pattern, but its defense was maxed out; it seemed completely unbreakable.
In the blink of an eye, the wound Thor had just created had completely healed.
The stone giant clenched his left fist and slammed it into the ground, sending a shockwave that swept debris towards Thor.
Thor threw a punch, which crackled with lightning and collided head-on with the shockwave, causing them to dissipate.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh, Happy seized the opportunity, and missiles flew out of the armor, all of them smashing into the mud giant's right hand.
Happy remembered that the guy seemed to be holding the old book he had bought in his right hand.
Although no one knows what's so special about that book, even a fool knows that the first thing to control after the monster appears is definitely not to be given to it.
The missiles bombarded the stone giant, only stirring up some dust. The stone giant didn't even lose a layer of skin, and the traces left by Happy's laser had already disappeared.
