"Don't get me wrong, I'm not speaking to you as a Hufflepuff student, I'm speaking to you as a Hogwarts prefect!"
Welling was speechless, choked by Green's words. He looked around and saw that all the Slytherins he saw instinctively avoided eye contact with him.
Looking around, Welling finally realized that he was now all alone. He no longer dared to clash with Green, but he also couldn't bring himself to apologize to a first-year student!
Wehrlin glared fiercely at Hufflepuff, then fixed his gaze on Cassandra, who remained seated upright in her own place. The next second…
"spit!"
Suddenly, Welin spat on Cassandra, then turned and walked away.
Seeing this, Green, who had been grinning slyly, suddenly changed his expression, his face turning incredibly grim. Cedric's wand, though still pointed at Wellin, was momentarily at a loss for what to do.
Seeing that Wellin's spittle was heading straight for Cassandra, and Wellin's figure was about to disappear into the Slytherin crowd.
"Inverted fuchsia!"
Suddenly, a spell flew by, and along with his own spit, Wellin was sent flying into the air!
"Wow!"
A gasp rippled through the students present. Everyone watched in disbelief as Wellin floated upside down in mid-air, and the spit he had aimed at Cassandra landed squarely on his own face!
"Put me down! What have you done! Put me down right now! You have no right to do this to me!"
Welin struggled in mid-air, but he could not break free from the invisible restraints!
Moreover, this peculiar scene quickly attracted the attention of most of the students. Several Ravenclaw students even ran to Warlin's house with paper and pens in hand.
The others looked in the direction of the spell and saw Wentworth slowly retracting his wand. Cedric and Grimm on either side stared wide-eyed at Wentworth, who was sitting upright in his seat.
"The magic power contained in your spell is probably at the level of a fourth or fifth grader!"
Cedric, being closest, felt it most clearly and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Wentworth waved his hands repeatedly and said:
"No, no, no, it's mainly because my wand is a bit special. It can amplify the power of spells, so it gives the impression of being full of magic."
Cedric nodded, seemingly understanding.
At that moment, Welling's scream rang out again:
"Wentworth! What right do you have to do this! You have no right to do this! Put me down right now! This is against school rules!"
Wentworth, however, stood up unperturbed and even bowed deeply in Waring's direction, saying:
"I'm so sorry, Senior Welling, I didn't mean to! I just saw a spittle about to fall, and in the spirit of Hogwarts being our home and everyone being responsible for hygiene, I wanted to let it float away so as not to defile our Great Hall."
"But I am only a first-year student, and my skill level is limited. I didn't control my magic well, and accidentally released a little too much magic, which is why I dragged you into this! Please forgive me!"
Wentworth appeared polite and harmless, yet those around him felt a chill run down their spines.
Although everyone knew Wentworth was lying through his teeth, clearly no one intended to stand up for Waring in this matter.
Seeing this, Welling, who was hanging in mid-air, cursed Wentworth countless times in his heart, but said aloud:
"Okay, Wentworth, it was wrong of me to spit indiscriminately, I know I was wrong, could you please put me down first!"
In Wellin's view, as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts, he was already being very generous by apologizing to Wentworth, a first-year student!
"I'm sorry, Senior Weilin, this spell is a bit special and requires a counter-spell to break!"
No sooner had Wentworth finished speaking than a Ravenclaw below Welling became interested and asked with delight:
"Really? This is a spell that needs to be countered to be broken? Such spells are very rare!"
"Stop the curse immediately!"
Another Ravenclaw quickly tried it out, but it didn't work. So... more Ravenclaws gathered around and even started discussing it among themselves.
Before Warlin could continue speaking, Wentworth, who was not far away, spoke first:
"Sorry, Senior Weilin, I haven't learned how to counter-curse yet..."
Chapter Fifty-Three: Punishment
When Wentworth said that he hadn't learned anti-spells yet, Welling felt a wave of despair, while the Hogwarts students around him looked at Welling, who was hanging upside down in mid-air, with pitiful expressions. The scene even fell silent for a moment.
Just then, a soft, angry voice rang out:
"Wentworth, who gave you the right to meddle?!"
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw Cassandra staring at Wentworth with bloodshot eyes, saying:
"Are you pitying me? Let me tell you! I don't need it!"
After saying that, Cassandra picked up her things and walked away with her head held high.
Cedric opened his mouth as if to say something to Cassandra's retreating figure, but Wentworth grabbed him and pulled him back. Turning to look at Wentworth, Cedric saw Wentworth slowly shaking his head, so he swallowed the words that were about to come out.
Cassandra walked out of the hall without looking back, her back to everyone. Just as she was about to step out of the hall, a faint smile appeared on her lips that no one noticed.
But the moment Cassandra stepped out of the hall, she stopped in her tracks.
“Headmaster Dumbledore…Professor Snape…”
Cassandra stared in shock at Dumbledore and Snape standing at the corner outside the Great Hall, who had been standing there for who knows how long.
Upon hearing Cassandra's cry, Wentworth knew something was wrong. Sure enough, he then saw Dumbledore and Snape walk into the Great Hall.
Snape stormed over, glancing first at Welling, who was hanging in mid-air, then glaring at Wentworth and saying menacingly:
"Who taught you to use this spell? You actually used it against your own classmate?!"
Seeing Snape angrily questioning him, Wentworth innocently said:
"Professor Snape, I was just trying to prevent Warling's spittle from landing and tainting our Hogwarts Great Hall. I wasn't targeting Warling. It was an accident!"
But Snape, of course, didn't believe Wentworth's explanation, and said with a mocking expression:
"So, you used the Upside-Down Bell?! And the Levitation Charm? Don't tell me that someone as skilled as you at using the Upside-Down Bell wouldn't know how to use the Levitation Charm!"
Upon hearing Professor Snape's words, Wentworth had a look of sudden realization.
"Oh right! And the Levitation Charm! I didn't even realize it at the time! Thanks for reminding me, Professor Snape, I'll definitely do it next time!"
Wentworth stated this with great conviction.
Seeing Wentworth's reaction, Snape was nearly driven mad with anger, and even his breathing became heavier.
However, before Snape could speak again, Dumbledore said from the side:
"Alright, Severus, spells were invented for wizards to use. Who made this spell happen in the first place!"
After hearing Dumbledore's words, Snape was speechless for a moment, and finally glared at Wentworth before walking down to the foot of Warlin.
"The golden bell has fallen!"
With a scream, Welling finally fell from the sky and was caught by Professor Snape.
Looking at Snape holding him in his arms, Welling immediately put on a wronged expression and said:
"Professor Snape, thank you... Ah!"
Before Welling could finish speaking, Professor Snape threw him to the ground.
Professor Snape then returned to Dumbledore's side and said with a displeased expression:
"Headmaster Dumbledore, Wentworth's indiscriminate use of spells on his classmates is unacceptable and must be punished!"
Upon hearing Snape's words, Cedric was about to speak up for Wentworth when he felt a slight tug on one of his legs. Looking down, he saw Wentworth gently pulling him, and understanding the situation, Cedric shut his mouth again.
Wentworth stepped forward and said apologetically:
"I'm sorry, Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor Snape. Although I meant well and it was an accident, and I didn't cause any harm to Senior Wellington, he was still frightened by my spell as a first-year student. I'm willing to accept the punishment."
Snape: "..."
Wentworth then continued:
"How about this, I'll continue to extend my evenings working with Professor Snape as punishment?"
Upon hearing Wentworth's words, many students from the four houses in the Great Hall silently gave Wentworth a thumbs up.
In fact, Wentworth at this moment felt that as long as he ignored Snape's sarcasm, he could actually learn a lot from him! He knew that every little bit he learned now could be the key to saving his life in a critical moment.
But Snape said with a displeased expression:
“I told you! That wasn’t a punishment! It was a reward for your skill in using the cauldron!”
Dumbledore, standing nearby, also said:
"I initially thought this was just a misunderstanding, but since Wentworth is willing to accept the punishment, we can't refuse. How about this, come to my office after class this afternoon!"
Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Wentworth's smile froze instantly. He was about to explain something, but Dumbledore didn't give him the chance and turned to leave.
Snape glanced at Wentworth one last time, then his gaze swept over the Slytherins. All the Slytherins hurriedly packed their things and ran back to the classroom. Even Wehrne was limping out, one hand covering his backside.
Seeing Dumbledore and Snape leave one after another, Cedric and Green immediately surrounded them.
"Great, Wentworth! You can go to Dumbledore's office now!"
Green put his arm around Wentworth's shoulder and said excitedly.
Wentworth, however, remained expressionless and spoke listlessly:
Is this something to be happy about?
Cedric, equally excited, added:
"Isn't this something to be happy about? That's Dumbledore, the greatest white wizard of our time!"
Wentworth could only chuckle.
Perhaps this would be a great honor for others, but for Wentworth, there were too many secrets that he could not let others discover!
Dumbledore was just too clever! Wentworth was genuinely worried that he wouldn't be able to keep his secrets in front of him.
Despite his immense worry, Wentworth still appeared in Dumbledore's Hogwarts headmaster's office by evening.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, how are you going to punish me?"
Wentworth asked, somewhat nervously.
