Chapter Sixty-Six Halloween
For a while after that, Wentworth’s life became much calmer and more regular. He went to and from school on time every day, participated in Hufflepuff Quidditch training, and secretly went to the Room of Requirement at night to practice.
It's worth mentioning that when Wentworth finished his last night of training in Snape's office, he expressed his wish to stay and serve as Snape's assistant, helping him prepare some medicine for the next day's classes.
To Wentworth, Snape was truly an excellent wizard and potions master; the only pity was that he had a mouth.
Actually, as long as you ignore Snape's passive skill of sarcasm, you can still learn a lot from him.
Snape seemed somewhat surprised by Wentworth's self-recommendation, as this was the first time in many years that a student had lingered in his office.
Then, Snape politely said to Wentworth:
"roll!"
Soon, Halloween arrived, and early that morning, the entire Hogwarts was decorated.
Early in the morning, Hagrid, the gamekeeper and key keeper of Hogwarts, arrived at Hogwarts with a lot of pumpkins.
"This isn't magical at all!"
Wentworth and Cedric said irritably as they worked on the pumpkins.
Green then spoke up to explain:
"This is a Hufflepuff tradition. In other houses, house-elves make the jack-o'-lanterns, but in Hufflepuff, the students always make them themselves."
"So, what's the point of doing this?"
Wentworth asked, still somewhat puzzled.
Cedric thought for a moment, then answered somewhat uncertainly:
"Perhaps we do this because each of our pumpkin lanterns is unique."
Actually, Wentworth was quite interested in this year's Halloween. After all, starting next year, Hogwarts would spend several Halloweens in fear for several consecutive terms.
But as it turns out, while the wizarding world is magical, Halloween there is rather dull, at least for the students at Hogwarts. There's nothing particularly exciting about it, except perhaps that the curfew is extended today.
After enjoying a sumptuous Halloween dinner in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, Wentworth, Cedric, and the others returned to the Hufflepuff common room.
"Hey, what exciting games are we going to play tonight?"
As soon as he entered, Green couldn't wait to ask.
"You've already brought out the playing cards, what's the point of asking this question?"
Wentworth pointed at the deck of cards in Green's hand and said irritably.
Ever since Wentworth introduced playing cards to Hufflepuff's common room, they quickly became a favorite toy among young wizards, even surpassing Wizarding Chess in popularity.
After all, Wizard Chess requires brains, while with poker, sometimes all you need is good luck.
Moreover, at first it was just Wentworth, Cedric, and Green fighting against slave owners, which was actually Wentworth's previous life's version of Dou Dizhu (a card game). Later, as more and more people participated, Wentworth gradually taught everyone more ways to play.
Currently, the most popular game in Hufflepuff is Texas Hold'em.
Of course, since everyone was a Hogwarts student, they couldn't touch money, so the things they used to bet were all sorts of strange things, but most of them were various snacks, such as chocolate frogs.
Soon, at Green's invitation, Wentworth and seven or eight others sat down at a round table in Hufflepuff's common room, surrounded by many people in layers behind them.
Wentworth glanced back casually and was startled, feeling as if he had traveled back in time to a past life, watching old men play cards in a park.
Wentworth's luck was unusually bad tonight; after only a few rounds, he was the first to be eliminated.
Although unwilling, Wentworth stood up and made way for the others.
"Thank you, boss! You're so generous!"
Greene gleefully claimed the chocolate frog that Wentworth had bet on, his smug expression making Wentworth's teeth itch with envy.
Wentworth has made up his mind: after today, he will make the mahjong set! Wentworth is convinced that he will not lose in this national treasure!
Wentworth squeezed through the crowd with difficulty and plopped down on an empty sofa in the Hufflepuff lounge. Looking at Green and the others laughing and joking not far away, Wentworth suddenly felt a little homesick.
As Wentworth pondered, he felt his eyelids growing heavier and heavier, and finally he slowly closed his eyes.
"Hey, wake up, are you dreaming? Go back to your dorm and sleep!"
After an unknown amount of time, Cedric's voice woke Wentworth from his sleep. Wentworth looked around in confusion and found that Green and the others were still playing, but there were fewer Hufflepuffs watching, who had obviously gone back to rest.
Wentworth yawned, said goodnight to Cedric, greeted Green, and headed towards his dorm room.
As soon as Wentworth entered the dorm room, he noticed that there was a pumpkin head on his bed, perhaps because it was Halloween. It looked like the one he had made himself.
Wentworth approached and saw two flickering candlelight inside the pumpkin. However, the candlelight did not bring Wentworth any warmth; instead, it gave him a chilling feeling that made goosebumps rise on his skin.
"That's so magical!"
Wentworth, feeling the chill, thought it might be a spell cast by the house-elves and couldn't help but sigh.
"The atmosphere is really well done, but unfortunately, this thing is really affecting my sleep!"
As Wentworth spoke, he reached out to move the pumpkin lantern off the bed, saying softly:
Halloween without noses is so boring!
Just then, as Wentworth's hands touched the pumpkin lantern, an irresistible force suddenly struck him. Wentworth felt himself being pulled by that force through his navel and then he was thrown into the air.
"The door key?!"
Wentworth immediately realized what was happening, but it was too late. It was clear that he had already been taken away from Hogwarts by the Portkey.
As soon as he landed, Wentworth, ignoring his physical discomfort, immediately reached for his wand.
But at that very moment, someone was faster than him!
"Soul leaving the body!"
"A Soul-Stealing Curse?!"
Wentworth watched in utter despair as the spell hurtled towards him!
Chapter Sixty-Seven: I Feel Like Someone Wants to Kill Me
Wentworth watched helplessly as the Imperius Curse landed on him, countless questions flashing through his mind: Why was there a key to his bed? Who was the other person? Were they in cahoots with the guys he encountered when he first arrived here?
But Wentworth was more worried that the other party used the Imperishable Curse instead of the Killing Curse from the Unforgivable Curse, which meant they must want to do something through him, or they wanted to know something. Wentworth was worried that the other party would use him to do something that he would regret.
But no matter how worried Wentworth was, the curse still struck him, and in an instant, Wentworth felt as if everything went white before his eyes.
"Wentworth? Wentworth, wake up! Are you dreaming? Go back to your dorm and get some sleep!"
Wentworth suddenly opened his eyes, rolled to his feet, and pulled out his wand.
"Wow, Wentworth, what are you doing? Trick or treat? The problem is, I lost all my candy to Green!"
Wentworth stared at Cedric, who was raising his hands and making an exaggerated expression, and didn't react for a long time.
Wentworth shook his head vigorously to clear his mind, then scanned his surroundings. He recognized the familiar environment and the pumpkin lanterns hanging around the Hufflepuff common room.
Wentworth gradually realized that he had just had a dream, but the dream was so real that even now, Wentworth could still clearly remember every scene and plot.
"Hey Wentworth, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Cedric seemed to notice that Wentworth was not in a good mood, and walked over with some surprise, placing his hand on Wentworth's forehead.
"It's not hot, but why are you sweating so much?"
Cedric asked, somewhat puzzled.
Having finally realized it was just a dream, Wentworth breathed a sigh of relief and then sat down on a bench in the Hufflepuff lounge.
At that moment, Green also put down his cards and came over, then took out a chocolate frog from his pocket and placed it in Wentworth's hand.
"Obviously, you had a nightmare! Eat some chocolate to calm down! But Wentworth, I'm curious what kind of nightmare could scare you like that? What, you're all grown up and can't find a wife? Haha!"
Seeing Green laughing heartily beside them, Wentworth and Cedric couldn't help but roll their eyes simultaneously.
"I dreamt of Merlin!"
Wentworth spoke to the two of them in a mysterious manner.
"Wow, really? What does Merlin look like? What did he say to you?"
Green immediately crowded around and asked curiously, and even Cedric perked up his ears.
"Merlin asked me to make a wish, and I said I wanted a dragon as a pet. Merlin said that dragons are too difficult to tame and told me to change my wish. I said I wanted Green to stop making silly mistakes in the future. Merlin was silent for a moment, then said to me gently, 'Young man, what color dragon do you want?'"
After Wentworth finished speaking, the three of them fell silent for a moment.
"Pfft!"
Cedric couldn't help but burst out laughing first, and then Green, with a dark expression, tackled Wentworth to the ground in Hufflepuff's common room.
"Just kidding, just kidding, Senior Green! Cedric, come and help me out!"
Wentworth begged for mercy and pleaded for help, but Cedric made no attempt to help, instead watching with a hearty laugh as Wentworth was pinned down by Green.
The three of them wrestled for a while before letting each other go, but after all that, Wentworth felt like he had finally come back to his senses.
After all, the dream he just had was so real that Wentworth even felt that if he had gone straight back to his dorm, he might not have been able to sleep tonight.
After playfully saying goodbye to Cedric and Green, Wentworth walked towards his dormitory in a good mood.
As soon as he opened the door and his gaze instinctively swept over his bed, Wentworth felt a chill run down his spine, instantly engulfing his entire body. He could even clearly feel every inch of his skin trembling.
Wentworth stared wide-eyed in disbelief at the pumpkin head placed on his bed, its back to him, just like in his dream!
Wentworth stood at the dormitory door for a long time, swallowing twice unconsciously. Then he drew his wand, pointed it at the pumpkin head, and slowly moved his body to face it directly.
When Wentworth saw clearly that two cold candlelights were flickering inside the pumpkin head, he was so nervous that he almost dropped his wand.
But at the same time, unlike in his dream, Wentworth was now quite certain that this jack-o'-lantern was not the one he had made himself during the day. Although they all looked pretty much the same, Wentworth was absolutely certain that his was not as beautiful as this one.
Wentworth quickly looked to the side and found that his other three roommates had not yet returned, and on their beds were also pumpkin lanterns dressed in the same style.
Even so, Wentworth did not rush to check the pumpkin lantern on his bed. After all, even a grumpy reader would know that there must be something wrong with such a strange situation!
Wentworth rushed to Cedric and Green's bedroom and called them out.
