"Hey, do you guys know what this is?"
The two, looking completely bewildered, were called out of their respective dorm rooms by Wentworth. Wentworth pulled them straight back to his own room, then pointed to the pumpkin on his bed and asked.
"Oh, you mean that? That's a Hufflepuff tradition. That's why we make jack-o'-lanterns by hand during the day. Our Headmaster, Professor Sprout, prepares sweets for every Hufflepuff, which are placed inside these jack-o'-lanterns."
As Green explained, he reached for the pumpkin lantern on Wentworth's bed.
"stop!"
Seeing this, Wentworth quickly stepped forward and grabbed Green's wrist.
"What are you doing? It's just some candy, nothing shameful!"
Green clutched his wrist and said with some dissatisfaction.
Wentworth pulled Green back a few steps before letting go of his hand.
"Wentworth, what's wrong? I get the feeling you're a little afraid of this jack-o'-lantern. It's just a pumpkin!"
Cedric, who was standing nearby, seemed to notice that Wentworth's expression was a little off, and asked in confusion.
Wentworth stared at the pumpkin on his bed, the dream he had just had kept replaying in his mind, especially the last part, the despair of watching the Unforgivable Curse fall on him, which made Wentworth shudder uncontrollably.
"I think someone wants to kill me."
Wentworth said softly.
Chapter Sixty-Eight: Finding a Teacher
As soon as Wentworth finished speaking, Green and Cedric fell silent and became obedient. After a moment, Green grinned and said:
"Wentworth, you've switched from telling jokes to ghost stories? It's more fitting for today, but I'm tired, so I'm going back to rest!"
Just as Green was about to leave, Cedric grabbed him. Cedric stared at Wentworth, somewhat puzzled, and said:
"Wentworth, what exactly happened? You can't just say things like that, and you can't joke about them."
Wentworth looked up, his gaze sweeping over the two of them, and slowly recounted the events that had occurred in his dream.
After hearing this, Green and Cedric exchanged bewildered glances.
"If it were anyone else, I might have already laughed and called him a coward, but with you, I'm really not sure."
Green's gaze darted back and forth between Wentworth and the pumpkin, seemingly unable to make up his mind.
But Cedric was much more direct. Cedric stated very firmly:
“Wentworth, I believe you! I think that dream might have been a warning for you; there might really be something wrong with this pumpkin!”
Wentworth was touched to hear Cedric trust him so completely.
"Thank you, Cedric. I was just afraid that no one would believe me, that it was just a dream, and that I was making a fuss."
"Don't worry about others. You've never used tea leaves to tell fortunes for anyone's marriage, so how would they know about your amazing abilities? I've experienced it firsthand, and I believe you will definitely become a prophet in the future!"
Cedric said it with absolute certainty.
Wentworth: "...Thank you..."
"How about I just give it a Shattering Spell?"
Green had already pulled out his wand and was eager to try his magic on the pumpkin, but Wentworth stopped him.
If it were just about destroying the pumpkin, Wentworth could do it himself. But Wentworth was more interested in whether the dream he had just had was truly a warning of the future.
If the dream I just had was real, then this pumpkin is even more important not to be destroyed. I need to use it to find out who is behind this plot against me.
After all, there's no way you can guard against thieves for a thousand days if you're a thief for a thousand days.
"Then what should we do now?"
Seeing Wentworth blocking him from making a move, Green asked anxiously.
"We are Hogwarts students, so of course we should go to the teachers if we have any problems!"
Wentworth said matter-of-factly.
Then Wentworth had Cedric stand guard there to prevent anyone from coming in and touching the pumpkin. After that, Wentworth took Green and headed straight for the headmaster's office at Hogwarts.
"No, why are you dragging me to find Headmaster Dumbledore? Don't you know the way?"
On the way, Green followed closely beside Wentworth and asked, somewhat puzzled.
Wentworth, without turning his head, said:
"I'm afraid we'll encounter danger on the road, so it's safer for me to hold your hand."
Upon hearing Wentworth's words, Green's eyes widened, and he said with some dissatisfaction:
"Do you think the two of us could escape if there were a wizard who dared to make a move at Hogwarts?"
"All I need to do is run faster than you!"
Wentworth spoke with such confidence that it infuriated Green. After a long pause, Green slowly said:
"...What you said makes sense."
The two arrived at the entrance to the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts, just as Professor Snape was coming out of Dumbledore's office.
Seeing Wentworth and Green, Snape frowned and was about to speak when Wentworth spoke first:
“We’re not so scared that we can’t sleep, Professor Snape. We have something important to discuss with Headmaster Dumbledore.”
Snape: "...Come in with me!"
Inside the headmaster's office, Dumbledore, dressed in his pajamas, was standing under the pumpkin lantern when he saw Snape return. Somewhat surprised, he was about to say something when he noticed that there were two people following behind Snape.
"Hey, you two young gentlemen, why aren't you asleep so late? Would you like some dessert?"
As they spoke, with a flick of Dumbledore's finger, a variety of desserts appeared on the table in front of Wentworth and Green.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, I must remind you that eating so many sweets is bad for your health! You are a pillar of Hogwarts; your body belongs not only to yourself, but also to Hogwarts! To all the teachers and students of Hogwarts!"
As he spoke, Green picked up a small cake from the table and put it in his mouth.
Dumbledore readily accepted Green's criticism, even nodding repeatedly, before turning his attention to Wentworth.
"So, Wentworth, would you like some dessert? Just remember to brush your teeth afterwards."
Wentworth slowly shook his head, his expression somewhat grave.
Seeing Wentworth's expression, Dumbledore glanced at Snape and noticed that Snape also looked bewildered. Dumbledore suddenly realized that something must have happened that he didn't know about.
"Well, it seems something unexpected happened that led you to come see me, Wentworth?"
As Dumbledore spoke, he casually waved his hand, and the desserts on the table disappeared. Green reached out to grab a piece of cake, but found nothing. Green couldn't help but purse his lips.
"Okay, what happened? I'm ready to listen."
Wentworth took a deep breath and said slowly:
"Principal, Professor, I think someone might want to kill me!"
As soon as Wentworth finished speaking, Dumbledore's eyes narrowed and his brows furrowed. In that instant, even the giant pumpkin lantern hanging in the Hogwarts Headmaster's room flickered.
Behind Wentworth, Snape, who had just heard Wentworth speak, wanted to say something, but at that moment, he suddenly held back and didn't say anything.
"Wentworth, why do you feel this way? What happened?"
Dumbledore didn't seem to doubt Wentworth's words, which made Wentworth breathe a sigh of relief.
Wentworth then told Dumbledore in detail about the dream he had and how he found a real pumpkin lantern on his bed after waking up.
After he finished speaking, Wentworth asked cautiously:
"Headmaster Dumbledore, don't you think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill?"
Dumbledore shook his head and slowly said:
"No, Wentworth, you did very well. Caution will be your most powerful weapon until you have the ability and confidence to face all situations."
"Alright, get to work!"
After Dumbledore finished speaking, he got up and walked outside. Wentworth and Green quickly followed, and Snape thought for a moment and then followed as well.
Chapter Sixty-Nine: Preparing to Depart
When Dumbledore arrived at the Hufflepuff common room with Wentworth and Green, it was met with cheers from the Hufflepuffs, and Dumbledore smiled and handed out candy to everyone.
Fortunately, Professor Snape also came to Hufflepuff's common room; otherwise, Wentworth doubted whether Dumbledore could have escaped those passionate advances.
Upon arriving at Wentworth's bedroom, Cedric was still there, and greeted Dumbledore immediately.
Dumbledore came to Wentworth's bedside and carefully examined the pumpkin on the bed, his gaze somewhat profound.
At this moment, Snape also came closer. After carefully examining the pumpkin in front of him, Snape asked Dumbledore with some uncertainty:
"Headmaster Dumbledore, is this really the key to the door?"
Dumbledore, however, calmly said:
"I do not know either."
Snape: "..."
Just then, Professor Sprout, who had received the news that Dumbledore was coming, also rushed over, followed by Professor Ilona, the Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
After the group greeted each other, Dumbledore asked Wentworth to recount his dream again, and what happened afterward.
After listening to Wentworth's account, Professor Sprout looked at the pumpkin on Wentworth's bed with surprise. After examining it carefully, Professor Sprout said:
"This pumpkin has definitely been switched!"
Upon hearing Professor Sprout's words, Dumbledore and the others were all surprised, while Ilona's gaze toward the pumpkin already carried a hint of murderous intent.
“I personally arranged the pumpkin lanterns on each student’s bed, and they were all made by themselves. I still remember Wentworth’s pumpkin lantern. I even said to the house-elf who helped me, ‘It seems Wentworth isn’t good at handicrafts.’”
Wentworth: "..."
Ignoring the bewildered Wentworth standing to the side, Professor Sprout continued:
