Xenophilius Lovegood, who was standing to the side, wanted to speak but never managed to get a word in edgewise. As the editor-in-chief of The Quibbler, Xenophilius Lovegood naturally knew what kind of people the wizards of the Basilisk Party were and did not want Luna to have much contact with them, even though his wife had once been a member of the Basilisk Party.

At this moment, seeing that Abernathy had finished speaking, Xenophilius Lovegood quickly spoke up:

"May I ask what brings you two here today?"

Upon hearing Xenophilius Lovegood's question, Abernathy turned his gaze away from Luna and then took out a photograph from his pocket.

"It's very simple, I hope you can rave about him on 'Sing the Quibbler'!"

Chapter 100: Galleon or the Magic Wand?

Xenophilius Lovegood: ? ? ?

Seeing Xenophilius Lovegood's dazed expression, Abernathy didn't urge him on. Instead, he picked up his Gordigan tea and took a small sip.

At this moment, Xenophilius Lovegood seemed to realize something, picked up the photograph on the table, and saw a young blond boy with an elegant smile on his lips.

Who is this young man?

Xenophilius Lovegood, holding the photograph in his hand, asked with some curiosity.

Abernathy put down his teacup and answered rather formally:

"The person in the photo is Hogwarts' most outstanding student, and also Dumbledore's favorite student!"

"He is Hufflepuff's pride, having led Hufflepuff to victory in a duel against Slytherin, which boasted numerous pure-blood wizards, and also caught over a dozen Golden Snitches in the Quidditch World Cup final."

"Most importantly, he is only eleven years old and just a first-year student at Hogwarts, yet he has already shown unparalleled magical talent. Even Dumbledore praised him as a genius that Hogwarts has never seen in a thousand years!"

Abernathy spoke with such seriousness that Xenophilius Lovegood looked completely bewildered.

After Abernathy finished speaking, Xenophilius Lovegood remained silent for a moment, then said with a puzzled look:

“I’m sorry, Mr. Abernathy, could you please be a little clearer? I don’t think I understand what you mean.”

Seeing Xenophilius Lovegood's bewildered expression, Abernathy impatiently took out a newspaper and handed it to Xenophilius Lovegood.

The newspaper that Abernathy took out was the one that had previously published Rita Skeeter's story about Dumbledore.

Abernathy pointed to the Daily Prophet in Xenophilius Lovegood's hand and said:

"In short, I want you to publish a report refuting The Daily Prophet! Tell the readers that the reason Dumbledore was spending the night with a new Hogwarts student was because the student was so outstanding that Dumbledore was willing to become his personal guardian."

Xenophilius Lovegood looked at the newspaper in his hand, listened to Abernathy's account, and then a look of sudden realization appeared on his face. He said:

“I understand, you want to clear Dumbledore’s name? No, wait, shouldn’t the Malays and Dumbledore…”

Before Xenophilius Lovegood could finish speaking, he saw Abernathy frown deeply, and Abernathy said with some disgust:

"The point isn't Dumbledore! The point is this young wizard named Wentworth, it's his excellence!"

Hearing this, Xenophilius Lovegood turned back and picked up the photograph again. A bold idea popped into his head. His hand, holding the photograph, trembled slightly as he said:

"Could it be that this young wizard is Gellert Grindelwald's..."

Before Xenophilius Lovegood could finish speaking, Abernathy waved his hand to interrupt him, saying each word clearly:

"The identity of this young wizard is none of your concern! You just need to write this report as I request, and that will be enough!"

Having been interrupted repeatedly by Abernathy, and hearing Abernathy's arrogant tone, Xenophilius Lovegood grew impatient. He placed the newspaper and photographs he was holding on the table, shook his head, and said:

"I'm sorry, I can't speak out about things I don't understand, and I certainly can't publish such a report in my 'Singing a Different Tune'!"

When talking about my "Sing the Quibbler," Xenophilius Lovegood deliberately emphasized his words.

But Abernathy chuckled and then pulled a thick wad of Galleons from his pocket, placing it in front of Xenophilius Lovegood.

Although Xenophilius Lovegood seemed to swallow hard upon seeing the Galleon before him, he ultimately shook his head firmly.

Seeing this, Abernathy reached into his coat again.

Seeing Abernathy's actions, Xenophilius Lovegood quickly said:

"You don't need to waste your energy anymore. No matter how many Galleons you offer, I won't..."

However, before Xenophilius Lovegood could finish speaking, what Abernathy pulled out of his pocket this time was not the Galleon he had expected, but a magic wand.

Xenophilius Lovegood looked at Abernathy, somewhat puzzled, but then heard Abernathy say calmly:

"Now, I'm giving you a choice: Galleons or a wand?"

Xenophilius Lovegood asked, his voice trembling:

What do you mean by that?

Abernathy, however, stared sharply at Xenophilius Lovegood before him and said in an icy tone:

"If you choose Galleon, then write this report according to my requirements. If you choose the wand, that's even simpler. As long as you can defeat me, I naturally won't ask you to do anything else!"

At this point, Abernathy paused, then said with a hint of amusement in his voice:

"I permit you to use dark magic, including the Unforgivable Curse, if you know it!"

As Abernathy finished speaking, the room fell into a deathly silence.

Just then, Luna suddenly spoke up from the side:

"Would you like to have lunch together here? Would you like some raw gill juice first?"

Luna's lunch invitation broke the silence in the room. Abernathy smiled kindly, shook his head, and said:

"No, we won't disturb your and your father's wonderful lunch time!"

As he spoke, Abernathy retrieved his wand, tucked it into his pocket, and looked at Xenophilius Lovegood, saying:

"For Luna's and her mother's sake, I can give you a day to think it over. I believe you will make the right choice!"

After saying that, Abernathy got up and walked outside.

Despite his fear and resentment toward Abernathy, Xenophilius Lovegood still acted as a host, rising to see Abernathy and Austin Greengrass out of the room.

After watching them disappear, Xenophilius Lovegood returned to his room with a worried expression, only to find his daughter Luna carefully examining the photograph.

"Luna, what are you doing?"

Luna tilted her head to look at her father and answered:

"I'm observing whether this new student at Hogwarts is really as outstanding as he seems."

Xenophilius Lovegood said, somewhat amused and exasperated:

"What can you even tell from a photo?!"

Luna nodded, slowly put down the photo in her hand, and said:

"So why don't we ask people who know this new student if he's really as good as Abernathy claims? For example, the headmaster of Hogwarts!"

Chapter 101 The Mystery of Halloween

Xenophilius Lovegood was stunned by his daughter Luna's words. After a moment of silence, he said to Luna:

"You're right. Maybe I should get to know this young man. Who knows, this might actually be big news."

Immediately, Xenophilius Lovegood went to his desk and began to write a letter.

Luna picked up the photo on the table again and examined it carefully.

Not long after, an owl flew from Xenophilius Lovegood’s house, carrying the letter he had written, toward Hogwarts.

At that moment, in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall were enjoying delicious honey candies, though Dumbledore was eating while Professor McGonagall was watching.

"Minerva, aren't you sure you want some?"

Dumbledore, holding a handful of honey candy, gestured to Professor McGonagall.

Professor McGonagall, however, kept her gaze fixed on Dumbledore and said in a somewhat serious tone:

"Albus, I want you to know what you're doing! You actually sent Lupin to teach Wentworth the Spell? Good heavens, Wentworth has already shown us his persuasive oratory, his witty thinking, and his prophetic talent from Grindelwald's blood!"

"If you add his magical abilities, which far surpass those of his peers, are you really sure you'll still be able to control him in the future?"

Seeing that Professor McGonagall seemed completely uninterested in the honey candy in his hand, and regretfully put it into her mouth, Dumbledore then slowly said:

“Minerva, we don’t need to control him. Control students? No, no, we are Hogwarts, and as professors, it is our responsibility to help every student become better!”

Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Professor McGonagall's face immediately fell, and she raised her chin, saying:

"Albus, what did you say when you first admitted Wentworth? That's why I was willing to cooperate with you. Don't forget your original intentions!"

Faced with Professor McGonagall's questioning, Dumbledore remained calm and said:

“Yes, Minerva, I haven’t forgotten. That’s why I’m sending Wentworth to learn spells from Lupin, because only magic can defeat magic!”

Professor McGonagall seemed about to say something more, but before she could speak, Dumbledore spoke first:

"Minerva, how's the matter I asked you to investigate going?"

Upon hearing Dumbledore's question, Professor McGonagall paused, sighed, and said:

“I have investigated carefully over this period of time. There are thirteen students who did not appear at the Halloween dinner that night or left the dinner quickly and had time to enter the Wentworth dormitory.”

"Witnesses can be found for twelve of them, as most of them were in pairs, except for one."

At this point, Professor McGonagall paused, then slowly uttered a name:

Cassandra.

However, Professor McGonagall immediately followed up with:

"Albus, do you really think this was done by a Hogwarts student? That Portkey, Hogwarts students couldn't have made it!"

Dumbledore, however, spoke with a cold, hard face:

"Similarly, wizards from outside the wizarding world can't get into Hogwarts, can they?"

Dumbledore's words deflated Professor McGonagall. Although she didn't want to admit it, Dumbledore was right.

"What do you intend to do, Albus?"

Professor McGonagall sighed and then slowly asked.
