Chapter Seventeen: Sparring
"Moon Tree, you haven't been coming here as often lately."
In the Hatake family home, a white-haired man sat in the living room and spoke to Tsukiki, who had just arrived.
"Sorry, White Fang, I've been a bit busy lately, so I might not have much time."
Tsukiki readily admitted and apologized, even though she hadn't done anything wrong.
"What are you saying? If you have something to do, go and take care of it first. Cultivation isn't urgent; you can do it anytime."
Despite being a Kage-level powerhouse, White Fang is surprisingly kind-hearted, especially when it comes to his comrades. Perhaps there are few people in Konoha who value their comrades more than White Fang.
Who would have thought that this powerful figure, comparable to the Hokage, had a softer heart than anyone else? Although White Fang still showed no mercy to his enemies.
It was because of this that White Fang was framed by the Third Hokage and others, and committed suicide out of guilt for failing the mission. This also led to Kakashi's twisted personality, ultimately causing the tragedy of Minato's Team 1, the birth of Tobi, and the Fourth Shinobi World War.
This is the chain reaction; every event affects countless others. The world is interconnected, and even slight differences can lead to enormous consequences. This is why Tsukiki didn't choose to interfere too much with the plot, but it was too late; the so-called original plot had already started to fall apart.
For example, when Kushina was kidnapped, Minato Namikaze was unaware of it and did not go to rescue Kushina alone. Instead, he went with the Konoha forces to support Tsuki.
In that case, Minato Namikaze would have absolutely no way to rescue Kushina, and Kushina would be successfully kidnapped, thus changing the entire ninja world's course once again. The Third Shinobi World War might even break out right now.
"It's nothing, just practicing ninjutsu with friends lately. Come on, let's practice our swordsmanship."
Tsukiki began to stretch his body, with the Kusanagi sword strapped to his back. He prepared to spar with Hatake Sakumo as usual, though Tsukiki's skill lay in swordsmanship.
Mastering only swordsmanship and knife skills is a great test of one's swordsmanship skills. In addition, it also tests one's combat experience.
"So you really came? I was wondering when you would speak up."
Hatake Sakumo smiled. He was already used to it. Ever since Tsunade brought Tsukiki to his place last time, the two had become good friends in swordsmanship. In particular, Tsukiki really enjoyed these simple swordsmanship sparring sessions.
What surprised Hatake Sakumo even more was that Tsukiki's swordsmanship was quite good, which allowed Hatake Sakumo to improve his swordsmanship considerably during their sparring sessions.
"Today I'm going to let you really experience the thrill of this sword."
"Oh ho, are you using the real thing today? I don't really care."
Sakumo Hatake and Tsukiki usually sparred with wooden swords, but after a while, neither of them was satisfied and they gradually started sparring with real weapons. This resulted in both of them having several superficial injuries after a sparring session.
The sparring was just a friendly exchange, and serious injury was out of the question.
After Tsukiki and Hatake Sakumo finished speaking, they also started to move around, their eyes filled with excitement.
Using a knife or sword in a world full of ninjas is naturally strange, but the Hatake family is famous for their swordsmanship, and Tsukiki is particularly interested in swords and knives.
It's not just firearms that represent a man's romance; for some men, cold weapons are the true romance.
Listening to the sound of weapons clashing together up close is an absolutely wonderful feeling.
"ready or Not?"
"It's been fine for a long time."
Hatake Sakumo and Tsukiki exchanged a glance and smiled at each other.
"Then let's go!"
Hatake Sakumo drew his sword and walked toward the courtyard, with Tsukiki following behind.
Although the two are more than ten years apart in age, they are surprisingly compatible.
Is it because of the use of cold weapons? Or because Tsukiki is too mature, or Hatake Sakumo is too childish?
No one can say for sure; perhaps both are true.
The Hatake family's yard is very large, with many wooden stakes used for sword practice.
The wind wasn't blowing gently; instead, it was blowing quite sharply, as if setting the stage for the atmosphere between the moon tree and the rusty tree.
A few leaves drifted down, and then a gust of wind blew, bringing a bunch of its companions.
Fallen leaves adorn the sky, while the moon tree and the flag tree stand facing each other.
Those eyes peered through the leaves, their gaze fixed solely on the opposite side.
The fallen leaves drifted gently, but eventually, they fell helplessly to the ground.
The instant the first leaf touched the ground, Tsukiki and Hatake Sakumo had already placed their hands on the hilts of their swords and knives.
With a whoosh, the sword was drawn.
bitter
The two figures charged at each other and finally collided.
The Kusanagi sword and Hatake's ninja sword clashed together, producing a crisp metallic sound.
This sound, like the surrounding air currents, continued to spread and extend outwards.
"You've made progress again."
"Each each other."
Both being skilled swordsmen, Hatake Suge was able to detect Tsukiki's change with just one strike.
Her swordsmanship was several times stronger than before; it not only caught up with him, but even surpassed him.
This feeling is truly terrifying, to say the least. Even Shigeru Hatake felt this fear.
Something was constantly chasing you from behind, and at this moment, it seemed to be gaining momentum, like someone in a race trying to overtake you from the side. You felt so afraid and unwilling to give up.
Hatake Sakuma raised the corners of his mouth.
Konoha's White Fang is neither afraid of his juniors nor easily surpassed by them!
With a sudden exertion of force, his gaze hardened, and at this moment, Hatake Sakumo resembled a cheetah, his eyes filled with the intent of a predator.
The sword in his hand was pushed aside, and Yue Shu was shocked.
He always lost when he sparred with Hatake Sakumo in the past, but this time was different.
Because Yue Shu's swordsmanship has reached the level of a master from proficiency, Yue Shu came here today to spar with the intention of winning.
Defeating Konoha's White Fang, a powerful figure renowned throughout the ninja world for his swordsmanship and whose strength rivals that of a Kage, would make anyone feel proud and accomplished.
However, it seems that Hatake Sakumo does not intend to grant Tsukiki's wish.
The age and physical differences between Tsukiki and Hatake Sakumo made their strength vastly different; in just one move, Tsukiki's body was pushed away.
In that instant, Hatake Sakushige's knife came flying.
Take advantage of your weakness to kill you!
This is a principle that every strong person understands, and Hatake Sakumo, as the White Fang of Konoha, understands it even more.
The moment the moon tree was pushed aside, there was naturally a large opening, and in that instant, Hatake Sakumo's sword almost inevitably struck.
But the Moon Tree is no pushover, and neither are the system's swordsmanship masters.
Gripping the sword tightly in his hand, Yue Shu's eyes were fixed on the incoming blade.
As if in slow motion, Tsukiki watched the incoming blade.
Just before the knife struck his body, Tsukiki also swung his sword.
The Kusanagi sword and the blade collided sideways, and Tsukiki, using Hatake Sakumo's momentum, narrowly dodged Hatake Sakumo's attack.
The ninja sword grazed past him, just centimeters away, and Tsukiki successfully averted the crisis.
But this is not over yet!
In battle, no opportunity is overlooked; the one who launches the most effective attack has a chance to win, so every attack is crucial.
Tsukiki, having dodged Hatake Sakumo's attack, was not yet complacent. He calmly observed Hatake Sakumo, then launched a kick at him from mid-air while his body was inverted.
Unsurprisingly, this attack had no effect on Konoha's White Fang and was easily blocked by Hatake Sakumo.
"cut."
"That's not enough."
Hatake Sakumo smiled, while Tsukiki snorted unhappily.
Chapter 18: Swords and Blades
bitter
The swords clashed once more, their crisp sounds echoing all around.
The fallen leaves floated leisurely, and those that were about to drift to the ground were once again blown up by the air currents generated by the clash of swords.
Is that really the case?
Hatake Sakumo looked at Tsukiki, who had retreated and was confronting him.
This is not an illusion.
It wasn't untrue that Hatake Sukeshige initially felt that Tsukiki's swordsmanship was starting to catch up with his.
It has to be said that it's really terrifying, especially for Hatake Ukishige.
An eight-year-old brat, who wasn't so great a while ago, at least Hatake Sakumo could steadily suppress him in swordsmanship.
But who could have imagined that in just a few days, this little brat would have already caught up with a master swordsman like him?
This is simply a fantasy. Skill in swordsmanship naturally depends on talent, and some people can never reach the level of a grandmaster, no matter how hard they try.
However, Tsukiki surprised Hatake Sakumo more than once.
He was already considered a celestial being to have such swordsmanship at the age of eight, and now he has even reached the Grandmaster level, which few people in the entire ninja world have reached.
Hatake Sakumo really wanted to say something, and he actually did say it.
"You little brat, are you some kind of monster?"
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
Tsukiki was a little confused; he couldn't understand why Hatake Sakumo had suddenly acted out of control.
"It's nothing, just something that came to mind. Let's continue."
Hatake Sakumo chuckled dryly twice, brandished his ninja sword a couple of times, and his eyes turned cold again.
Although Tsukiki was also baffled, he had no choice but to devote himself entirely to the battle.
Hatake Sakumo sensed the aura emanating from Tsukiki; it was the true Grandmaster level, absolutely without any falsehood.
