"What are you thinking, Kal'tsit?"

Having already taken a few steps with mon3tr, Wayne turned around in confusion and looked at Kal'tsit, who was standing still with a self-doubting expression, and asked curiously.

Kal'tsit snapped out of her reverie, glanced at mon3tr, and shook her head:

"I'm fine, let's go. mon3tr, how far is it?"

mon3tr: "(A roar that seemed to contain some meaning but which Wayne couldn't understand)."

"Five kilometers? That's quite a distance, Your Highness, let's quicken our pace. The sooner we get to the battlefield, the better..."

Kal'tsit suddenly stopped. Wayne added:

"Does this increase our chances of saving Fiona?"

Kal'tsit pursed her lips and nodded:

"That's what we all hope for."

But hopes often don't live up to expectations.

Kal'tsit didn't say this aloud. Nothing is absolute. Although he couldn't think of any way to save Fiona's life, maybe Wayne could?

According to Kal'tsit's assessment, Vayne is likely a master in the spiritual realm, whose achievements in this area far surpass those of contemporary Terran civilization. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to emerge unscathed from the demonic invasion, and even slay the demon and reawaken.

Maybe she really does have a solution?

Even at the very last moment, she would not abandon any patient; this was Kal'tsit's final professional ethic as a doctor. The presence of Wayne rekindled a glimmer of hope within her; if Fiona could survive, it would be a good thing both professionally and personally.

Thinking of this, Kal'tsit seemed to have made up her mind and called out to Wayne, who was about to run away:

“Your Highness Wayne, please wait a moment. If we have to traverse five kilometers of the wasteland on foot to reach Fiona, we'll waste far too much time. Fiona is terminally ill; every second she has is precious. I think we should adopt a more efficient method of movement…”

"Get to the point," Wayne retorted. He didn't want to hear Kal'tsit explain the necessity of doing so; he just needed Kal'tsit to tell him what to do, and then he would do it. Wayne still had that much trust in the Great Lynx.

Kal'tsit stepped forward and suddenly grabbed Wayne's hand. Wayne was startled, and seeing Kal'tsit's determined expression, his face flushed red.

What's going on here? Setting a flag before the boss battle? After this battle, are you going back to Victoria to confront Theresa and apologize?

No way, Kal'tsit, weren't we supposed to speed things up?

Oh, I see! Are you trying to speed up my heartbeat to improve blood circulation and supply more blood to my legs so I can run faster? No wonder you're a doctor, you think of so much!

"Your Highness Wayne, leave it to me."

Kal'tsit said seriously. Wayne turned his head away, thinking, "Wow, she's serious."

What should I say at this point? Kal'tsit, no!

“Come on,” Wayne replied.

Immediately afterward, the instant Wayne closed his eyes, he clearly felt a dizzying sensation, and then he was lifted up by Kal'tsit.

"Mon3Tr!" Kal'tsit shouted, "Charge Stance!"

Upon receiving the command, mon3tr let out a loud roar, then stretched out its head and grabbed the back of Kal'tsit's collar. Its scythe-like limbs moved rapidly, propelling it across the land!

Mon3tr's back was covered in spikes, making it unsuitable for riding. Its scythe-like legs were also extremely sharp, making it impossible for anyone to grasp them for movement. Wayne once thought that while this monster was large enough, the fact that it couldn't be ridden was truly regrettable. But Kal'tsit proved him wrong with her actions. Before the all-knowing Kal'tsit and her omnipotent Mon3tr, nothing was impossible.

Vayne's current movement resembles that of a lioness carrying her cubs in an animal documentary, somewhat like a nesting doll arrangement. Vayne is held in Kal'tsit's arms, while Kal'tsit is carried in mon3tr's mouth. mon3tr's sickle-like legs move like a lion's limbs, even faster than a typical car. Unfortunately, Vayne isn't a running lion, but rather a cub being carried.

At this speed, five kilometers would pass in the blink of an eye.

However, he would soon appear before Fiona and Loken Williams in a catastrophic (socially devastating) manner, being held by Kal'tsit and falling out of Mon3tr's mouth. Wayne suddenly understood why Kal'tsit was so determined to persuade him.

If people see this attitude, the carefully crafted persona of being wise, powerful, and shrewd will completely collapse, right?

Should we make a lot of noise to cover it up?

Wayne felt that the lessons learned from the blood of countless predecessors had taught him that this approach was utterly useless.

Since that's the case, it's better to make the best of it. Wayne decisively chose to remain silent, avoiding Kal'tsit's attention, and fully fulfilling his promise to trust Kal'tsit.

Incidentally, the fact that I bumped into it by accident, but didn't experience the expected pain in my forehead, confirmed one thing.

She definitely didn't wear a pad.

I'm very sorry, I'm currently in the hospital receiving IV fluids for acute gastroenteritis and need to take a leave of absence.

The author suddenly developed acute gastroenteritis at 10 PM tonight, suffering excruciating stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, and was forced to go to the hospital for an IV drip. I'm very sorry, but there might be a delay in updating another chapter tonight.

If I have the energy after returning from the hospital, I will continue to update. But if not, please understand, the pain is unbearable. I'm very sorry.

Chapter Seventy-Eight: An Unexpected Turn of Events in the Rosemary Project

If the crossbowman had known beforehand that coming to the wasteland to capture an abandoned scientist would lead to this bizarre and terrifying situation, he would never have accepted the mission.

Even if he was stripped of his brigadier general rank, so what? He was still a member of the military. With the Colombian federal government in complete collapse, this status alone was enough for him to live a good life in the cities occupied by the military.

He could easily regain his position through normal battlefield experience and meritorious service. He could even use the war to achieve positions he wouldn't even dare to dream of in peacetime, going a step further, a thousand steps further!

But in order to achieve his goal faster, driven by vanity and a thirst for revenge, and to exact revenge on Loken Williams, the culprit who messed everything up, he chose to take on the mission, which ultimately led him to this predicament.

The towering three-headed mechanical dragon's eyes glowed with an eerie red light, a sign that Fiona's spell was taking effect. The crossbowman, however, was unaware of this; to him, the red light in the three heads and six eyes was the steel dragon's disdainful gaze. He sneered at himself, realizing that his arrogance had ultimately led to his downfall.

"Fuck, WTF! God help me, what the hell is this son of a bitch?"

He spewed out Colombian profanities, praying to God while simultaneously cursing Him. The crossbowman retreated, his incessant swearing offering no reassurance. Finally, he could go no further; his back pressed against the prison cart behind him. At that moment, the crossbowman suddenly realized that his enemy, Loken Williams, had once again successfully blocked his escape route.

Even though he knew in his heart that the people who drove the car here and chose this location to hijack it had nothing to do with Loken Williams, even if the prison van hadn't stopped here, the three-headed dragon that had long since surrounded it with its massive body wouldn't have let him leave.

But he still directed all his anger, accusations, and curses at Loken Williams.

After all, in his view, such a steel dragon could no longer be considered a "man-made disaster"; it was undoubtedly a "natural disaster."

Humans cannot feel hatred towards natural disasters. Even the most brilliant scholars, the most cunning businessmen, and the most treacherous politicians on this land know that nothing represents fairness better than "natural disasters."

"Loken Williams! You f***ing..."

The crossbowman growled at Loken Williams in the prison cart behind him, his growl sounding like that of a predatory beast. Loken Williams, interrupted from his sudden reverie, looked at the crossbowman with utter confusion:

"What did I do?"

“You didn’t do anything, so that doesn’t stop me from killing you before this damned monster kills me.”

"You're mistaken, this isn't some natural disaster."

Loken Williams replied.

Just moments ago, as the three-headed steel dragon lowered its head from the clouds and looked down at the prison van, a sudden inspiration flashed through Loken Williams' mind.

A vision flashed through his mind: a colossal steel dragon, its eyes glowing red, its body enormous—all of this stirred long-dormant memories within him. He had once experienced something similar firsthand. Only then, he wasn't in the prison van, and the mechanical dragon wasn't this massive.

"What the hell are you saying? This isn't a natural disaster?"

Finding that the mechanical three-headed dragon showed no immediate signs of attack, the crossbowman breathed a slight sigh of relief, turned around, climbed back into the vehicle, pulled open the partition between the cell and the driver's cab, pressed the crossbow bolt against Loken Williams' forehead, and demanded,

"Don't give me riddles, explain it to me right now!"

A bead of cold sweat trickled down Loken Williams' temple. The icy steel touch against his forehead made him swallow back his plan to explain the scientific principles in detail, and he spoke directly:

"No mistake, all the characteristics match. This is the Originium Arts of Experiment 001!"

“We’re just waiting for you to recognize me, Loken Williams. You have to know who killed you.”

Fiona's childish voice became somewhat low, one of the signs that her brothers were manipulating her body. But compared to before, although her brothers seemed to be saying tough words, and they really were, they still sounded somewhat weak and listless.

"You're here to kill me?"

Hearing that familiar yet unfamiliar voice, Loken Williams gaped in astonishment. Even in prison clothes and shackles, he scrambled to his feet from the corner, ignoring the threat of crossbow bolts, and peered through the small isolation window towards the direction the voice came from, saying incredulously:

"That's not important. The key thing is, you're still alive? I thought 001 was dead after that damn explosion at the research institute that night."

"We are not so easy to die."

Finally, accompanied by Loken Williams's exclamation, Fiona, hidden in the darkness, emerged from beneath the mechanical dragon's belly.

"Thanks to that little white kitten, we barely managed to escape. Why would we die so easily before killing you?"

Loken Williams frowned. He knew who the white kitten Fiona was talking about was—it was the product of Project Rosemary, a sub-project of the Soul Fusion Warrior program: Rosemary.

The little one almost perfectly met all of Loken Williams' requirements, but ultimately failed to pass political scrutiny and enter mass production due to one flaw—she was too human-like. It seems that the emotions in her personality were not completely stripped away during the experiment, resulting in the creation of the sorceress Rosemary, whose personality was almost indistinguishable from that of an ordinary young girl from Felin, rich in emotions, and constantly learning and improving.

However, mass-produced soldiers don't need emotions or autonomous learning. These are unstable factors, making them unsuitable for mass production on the battlefield. Therefore, Rosemary was eventually banned. Even so, an accident occurred during her experimental data collection a year ago, triggering an explosion that "executed" over 13 experimental subjects, including Subject 001, and tens of thousands of souls.

Loken Williams still vividly remembers that hellish scene: a large number of test subjects died tragically, and his hard work was almost destroyed. In the room filled with blood, only Rosemary, the perpetrator, was still alive, cowering in the corner with her knees drawn up in fear.

The explosion site was so chaotic that it was impossible to distinguish which organizations belonged to which people, to the point that even Loken Williams thought that 001 must be dead.

But as it turns out, Number 001 not only didn't die, but became even stronger, and now she's back.

Loken Williams trembled for a moment, not just from excitement, but also from fear.

Compared to Loken Williams' excitement, the crossbowman's expression was quite interesting. He never expected that the experimental subject 001, who had driven him to such a loss of composure, was actually such a little kid.

It was truly hilarious.

No wonder, no wonder this damned three-headed mechanical monster hasn't attacked yet. It turns out it's a defective product. Apart from looking scary, it's actually not lethal at all.

The crossbowman thought to himself. But Loken Williams was truly a genius; a defective product almost scared him to death. If it could actually attack, wouldn't he be dead on the spot?

That's enough, kid. I don't have time to play monster vs. superhero games with you. I have a mission. A defective product should just die peacefully.

The crossbowman quietly raised his crossbow bolt, aiming at Fiona's head, wanting to avenge his previous defeat.

He narrowed his eyes, tightened the bowstring, pulled it back, and imbued it with Originium Arts. In his eyes, he seemed to already see Fiona being impaled in the head by a crossbow bolt, collapsing to the ground, and the mechanical dragon crumbling away.

When it comes time to report his achievements, he'll be considered a unique kind of dragon-slaying hero.

With that thought in mind, he pulled the bowstring.

"puff--"

Fiona clapped her hands, and in time with her movement, the head of the steel dragon that had crashed to the ground rose up again, collided with the other head, and wiped away the impurities that had settled on it.

"No one should disturb our revenge against you."
