Urbino's head was spinning as he watched Wayne's obvious attempt to get hush money. He thought to himself, "Is this guy obsessed with money? You dare to try and extort the Pope?"

Wait a minute! His Holiness the Pope doesn't have a daughter! This makes no sense!

With a wry smile, Urbino waved his hand and quickly denied it:

"No, no, it's not a marriage alliance with Lateran."

"Not with Lateran?" Wayne raised an eyebrow, looking at me with an expression that seemed to say, "You think you can find anyone else in Lateran? Are you trying to fool me with some chieftain's daughter from Sargon?"

Feeling that he might have overdone his act of being a fool, and that he was being treated like a clown, Wayne was a little unhappy.

Thinking about it carefully, perhaps I don't need to marry anyone at all. (Removes clown mask)

I have Vina by my side; she's beautiful enough. (Wiping off lipstick)

And Chen, Swire, Mudrock, Mostima, they're all fantastic. (Wiping away paint dust)

I am very happy now and don't need to care about any troublesome arranged marriages! (Returns to normal, looking dignified)

Urbino: "The marriage proposal is for the Crown Princess of Kazdel, the Queen of Sarkaz—Theresia. Would you like to meet her?"

"I can!"

Wayne clapped his hands and nodded.

Urbino opened his mouth, but all the ideas he had in mind to persuade Wayne to accept the marriage remained stuck inside, feeling as uncomfortable as if he had eaten three meals of Wallace in a row.

Why the hell?

That's the Demon race, a race feared throughout the land! Why did you look so reluctant and sarcastic when talking about marrying the Pope's daughter, but immediately agree when it came to marrying a Demon princess?

Isn't my Pope's daughter sexy enough?

What? His Holiness the Pope has no daughters?

That's fine.

Urbino felt half his face twitching from his mouth to his cheek to his eyebrows. Finally, he couldn't hold back any longer and asked:

"Your Highness Wayne, why did you agree so readily?"

Wayne gave Urbino the look of someone who thought he was an idiot. Urbino felt his blood pressure rise.

He was looked down upon by someone he considered an idiot, who treated him with the same contemptuous gaze one might give an idiot!

While it won't hurt you to look down on someone, it's not very damaging but extremely insulting.

But we must find out, we absolutely must find out. Urbino believed that there was a deeper reason behind any unusual event! Why did Wayne agree so quickly? Could it be that he had already been in contact with the demons of Kazdel? Could it be that he was plotting something behind Laterano's back?

Is the goal to use the demons to completely wipe out Lateran's power, or to use the demons' military might to launch Victoria's second major expansion abroad?

Had he been misjudging Wayne all along? Perhaps the young man before him was merely displaying a near-perfect disguise? Beneath his playboy exterior lay a chilling core?

Wayne glanced at Urbino, who looked tense and seemed lost in thought, with the look of someone looking at an idiot, and said:

"Because she's pretty."

Is it because she's beautiful that I'm willing to meet her?

...It seems there are no problems.

Putting aside her infamous race and extremely sensitive identity, Theresa is indeed one of the most beautiful girls in Terra. The Colombian magazine "Beauty" once recklessly conducted a ranking of Terran beauties behind the backs of various royal families, and Theresa ranked second.

The first place was also Sarkaz, a mixed-race woman of Wendigo living in Colombia. She was named first place by the Chinese readers who participated in the selection because of her long, snow-white hair and elegant, capable office lady outfit. It is said that her surname is Eagle.

The reason is perfectly normal, and surprisingly, there's nothing wrong with it.

However, at this moment, the terrifying chess player and ultimate schemer that Urbino had just imagined collapsed in his mind.

Urbino found himself both amused and exasperated by the pointless, nonsensical speculations running through his mind. He silently added another label to Wayne: "lsp." Along with labels like "spoiled brat," "greedy," and "loyal," Urbino felt he now fully understood Wayne's true nature.

"Then I'll get to it now? I'm sure His Holiness the Pope will be very pleased to hear this good news."

Urbino said happily, patting his dirty hands on his clothes, and reached out to shake hands with Wayne, but Wayne rudely dodged him.

"Go wash up, there's a restroom here."

Wayne complained.

It's not entirely untrue that Theresa is beautiful, so Wayne is willing to give it a try.

Wayne has only three purposes after arriving in Terra: first, to avert tragedy; second, to form bonds with the female protagonists; and third, to try to improve the living conditions and status of the infected.

The third one is the most difficult; it's a centuries-old problem that Wayne can't simply eliminate at present. The second and first ones are often intertwined, the most typical example being Theresa.

Wayne didn't know much about Theresa. He could only glean from her brief appearances in the darkness and snippets of conversation between W, Amiya, and Kal'tsit that this Sarkaz "princess" was a gentle, upright, and kind person—someone completely out of place in a land cruel, despicable, and rife with evil schemes and plots.

She is the "adoptive mother" that Amiya longs for, the chairperson that Kal'tsit speaks of, and the only light in W's eyes. Wayne wants to save her from the fate of dying in the Kazdel civil war, but to be honest, he has never found a good opportunity to intervene.

What excuse could a prince of Victoria, a collaborator of Laterano, and a friend of the Yan Kingdom's princess (Chen) use to intervene in a civil war in Kazdel? Wayne considered many methods, but in the end, he could only reluctantly decide that after the outbreak of the Kazdel civil war, he would lie in wait in Rembiton in a private capacity to make contact with Babel Tower and Kal'tsit—this was the most likely way to get in touch with them.

However, Wayne had never been very confident in dealing with Terra's number one riddle-maker, the older, single female lynx, and the berserk, omniscient, and omnipotent leader. It wasn't that he was worried about Kal'tsit seeing through his true identity; he mainly felt that he probably wouldn't understand what Sir Han Kal'tsit Frye was saying, since he didn't have a resigned Bernard by his side who could translate for him.

Now, the opportunity has presented itself to him. Although he doesn't know what Laterano is up to, Wayne isn't worried. A flawed plan based on his own misjudgment poses no threat whatsoever. It can be easily countered, thwarted, or even turned against him.

Wayne had no reason not to agree.

Moreover, he really wanted to meet that mysterious "Prince".

"You go ahead and make the arrangements. I'll head back now; if I stay out too long, Vina might notice."

After finishing speaking, Wayne shook hands with Urbino, who had just washed his hands, with a look of disgust, and turned to leave.

Mostima recorded the entire conversation. After ending it with a period, she looked up at Wayne's retreating figure, pouted, and muttered a complaint:

"Why does this sound like you're having an affair?"

Author's Note on Launching the Product (Please Come and Take a Look)

This book will be available for purchase soon. As is customary for Hedgehog Cat, and also at the editor's request, I'd like to write a preface here.

I believe readers wouldn't really want to hear the author complain about how difficult and painful the journey of this book has been, how low the recommendation votes were, and how scarce the monthly votes were, so I won't go into too much detail about these things.

Here, I humbly request that all my dear readers give this book a small first-day subscription! If you enjoy this book, please click on the auto-subscribe button; this is the greatest support you can give the author!

The basic framework of this book has been completed. I have used fifty-two chapters to conclude the first part of the Victorian story and to build the main story structure of this book.

The next chapter will be the Kazdel arc, where the main female character will naturally be our childhood sweetheart, Princess Theresia. In this chapter, we will mainly face rebellious forces within Kazdel, as well as interfering forces from abroad, including Ursus. Prince Wayne will cooperate with Theresia and even Theresis to end the Kazdel civil war, abandon illusions, prepare for struggle, and unite against external threats! The first large-scale war scene in the book will also take place.

The character to be saved in this volume is also obvious—Theresia.

The introduced characters naturally include Surtr, the eternal god who has already been foreshadowed, Theresis, the Babel Tower, and the possible appearance of the Rhodes Island dragon bones.

The chapters that follow will be the Columbia Rhine Life arc, the Lungmen arc, and the second Victoria arc (the Red Dragon Drak arc), which will lay the groundwork for future developments. However, those stories are too far in the future, and I only have simple ideas for them at the moment. Right now, I should focus all my energy on the current Kazdel arc and write a story that I'm satisfied with.

Finally, let's introduce the book's first target of persecution, the loyal Archbishop Urbino, who is going further and further down the path of becoming a mole within Lateran. He is, in my opinion, the best original character I created. Whether it's his cautious personality, his courage and wisdom in constantly struggling to survive, or the personal abilities that have enabled him to get to his current position (his fearless negotiation even when facing the threat of Theresis), he is a major pillar that has supported me in advancing the original storyline.

Finally, I hope everyone can give this book a first-day subscription. If you like this book, you can subscribe to it yourself. The author will be releasing a large number of chapters tomorrow. I plan to update two chapters immediately after the book goes on sale (currently written), and then make up the remaining three chapters in the afternoon and evening, for a total of five chapters! Each chapter is guaranteed to be at least 1 words, ensuring a total of 5000 words. This is a lot of content, equivalent to seven to eight chapters of other normal books. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Chapter 1: I Absolutely Won't Regret It! (Please subscribe!)

Victoria, Iron Palace in Londinium, in front of the Queen's office.

Wayne, who came to Vina to discuss meeting Theresa, happened to run into Broca, who was about to submit last month's expense report to Vina. He then started talking to Broca about this not-so-secret matter.

"In other words, Your Highness, although I do not insist on viewing all races without any discrimination, I still think you should see a doctor."

Broca said with a worried expression,

Do you think Her Majesty the Queen would agree to such a thing?

Wayne stroked his chin:

"You think Vina won't agree to Theresa coming to Victoria? There's no need to worry too much. Vina isn't a pampered young lady; she knows better than anyone that just because some Sarkaz are evil doesn't mean all Sarkaz are evil. I'm confident I can persuade her!"

Broca sighed; she felt that Vina wouldn't agree for another reason.

Whether Vayne brings a Sarkaz princess or a dragon's offspring, as long as she's a woman, Her Majesty the Queen will probably... no, she absolutely will not accept it.

However, it was clear that His Highness Wayne had not considered this point. He was knocking on the door of the Queen's office with great enthusiasm and walked in with a confident look on his face.

Broca, who had originally planned to report her recent work to Vina, wisely chose to wait at the main entrance for a while, because she estimated that it wouldn't be long before a clandestine conflict of royal secrets would erupt inside.

Moreover, Broca himself also had some selfish motives.

Ever since she was expelled from the church that night and taken in by Wayne and Vina, she had decided to stick with this couple forever! What, Theresa? She didn't know her!

With his hands clasped together, Broca silently prayed for ten seconds for the prince as he entered the office. Then, he reached out, closed the office door, and stood guard outside.

It's not that I want to enjoy the CP (couple) content all by myself, it's just that I don't want outsiders to see the royal family's quarrel!

Broca found a perfectly reasonable excuse for his little scheme, then carefully pressed himself against the door, his silver cat ears twitching slightly as he began to listen to the sounds inside.

.........

Vina was slumped in her office chair, her limbs spread out in a stark shape, her eyes vacant. On the desk in front of her was a red wooden box about half a meter long and wide, filled with documents covered in dense text.

Next to the box was a small stack of documents, covered with Vina's drawings and occasionally punctuated by a few neat annotations in her elegant handwriting, making her look exceptionally serious.

Seeing this, Wayne couldn't help but recall the classic image of the little girl lying flat in the starfish shape from his past life, accompanied by the "I'm tired, fuck me" emoji. He had no choice but to cough awkwardly, reminding Vina, who was wearing a women's suit, not to strike such a seductive... no, indecent pose.

"what!"

Vina, who had just noticed someone had entered, suddenly sprang up from her office chair. The height and posture of her jump were almost comparable to that of a snow leopard family that could be frightened by their own child. Wayne was slightly stunned, turned his head to the side, and blushed a little.

Oh no, my little sister is just too cute.

Upon seeing Wayne, Vina felt as if she had stumbled upon a savior. She quickly emerged from behind her desk, grabbed Wayne's hand, and began to pour out her troubles:

"Brother, did you have to deal with this many documents every day before? I could read them from morning till night and still not finish. Is being the queen such a tiring thing?"

Wayne clicked his tongue. Did he used to have to deal with so many documents? Of course not. He only needed to separate the Royalist and Northern Royalist applications from the document reports, and then give the two documents to each other separately. These councilors, who seemed to have a headache every day, would naturally help Wayne find the loopholes in the files and then reject them one by one.

Convenient, quick, and hassle-free, aside from the fact that it resulted in Wayne failing to accomplish anything during his acting rule after the King of the North was sent away, further damaging his reputation, there were no other downsides. But was it his fault that he couldn't get things done? If the Royalists and the Royalists of the North had been even slightly more sensible and less nitpicky, those fancy proposals wouldn't have all been rejected by each other in Parliament.

Ultimately, it's the system that's at fault.
