She stared coldly at the guard's mask, which was carved with a cross, and said,
“His Highness Wayne’s revenge must be avenged. Our friends in Lateran cannot die here without explanation. We must give His Holiness the Pope an explanation. Therefore…”
"Kill them all, leave no one alive!"
"As ordered!"
......
"Commander, I want to go to the front lines, I don't want to be here escorting prisoners of war."
Among the northern rebels, a young nobleman, his face flushed and eyes shining, spoke to the commander beside him.
The commander patted his head:
"Do you know who we're escorting? These are all high-ranking nobles and important figures from Londinium. It's said that there's even a member of the Aslan royal family mixed in with them. This is an immense achievement, far greater than fighting to the death on the battlefield!"
He sighed,
"That Earl of Princeton is far superior to his father. He actually devised a plan to ambush the Royal Military Academy in the forest long ago. He was truly prepared and anticipated the enemy's moves! I thought the rebellion would be a fierce battle, but I didn't expect to seize so many of the enemy's weaknesses and high-ranking officers so easily! Things are much simpler now."
The commander clapped his hands with longing as he thought about how much profit could be squeezed from which nobles, how many secrets which officers had, and how much glory the Aslan royal family could bring.
He pointed to an open space not far ahead and said to the young nobleman:
"Go, go and take over our lovely walking heroes from the encircling army!"
The young nobleman nodded excitedly, waved to summon the prison cart team and the cleanup team, who acted as the vanguard and walked towards the open space not far away.
He marched towards glory.
He parted the grass.
He faced the muzzle of the gun.
War is hell!
"Da da da da da!"
Chapter 57 My Friend Kal'tsit
Victoria, Londinium, speech at the Iron Palace.
Theresa gave Vina an OK sign, the camera flashed, and the nationwide live broadcast ended. Vina, standing on the stage, let out a long sigh of relief, wishing she could immediately collapse onto the stage and rest for a while.
Sometimes it's like that: when you're determined to charge forward, you can disregard everything else, but when you've done it all and look back, you realize what difficulties you've overcome and feel a sense of lingering fear.
Vina forced a smile at Theresa, returned an OK sign, and asked:
How are you feeling?
"Very good!"
Theresa walked onto the podium with a smile, Vina's tablet in her hand. She opened Victoria's news section; the front page was now officially dominated by "The King's Speech." In fact, not only the news section, but also entertainment, sports, economics, and even the usually lowbrow gossip sections were all flooded with Vina's speech. There might be some official manipulation by Victoria, but judging from the overwhelming praise under the news articles, people, at least the vast majority, had already accepted this young queen.
Before Vina could even process her joy, Theresa subtly scrolled past the comments on her tablet—"Her Majesty the Queen is so beautiful, I want to get close to her."—that would likely be replaced by comments about unicorns coming to check the water meter in a few minutes. Smiling, she placed her right hand on her chest, lifted her long skirt with her left, and bowed deeply, saying:
"God bless the Queen!"
"Teacher Theresa!"
Vina gave her a slightly embarrassed look, her heart filled with mixed emotions. There had been a time when she too had struggled to survive in the commoners' quarters, greeting each dawn with fear, her gaze towards the palace always tinged with dread. But now, having truly returned to the palace and reclaimed her crown, she couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu.
The one who had elevated her to this position, her brother, the male lion of the small two-man pride, was still trapped in the North, his fate unknown. Joy and worry mingled within her, and she involuntarily closed her eyes, forcing herself to calm down with deep breaths.
“Vina,”
Theresa gently took Vina's hand and led her to the palace window. Outside the closed glass doors, a bustling crowd was already gathered. Theresa nodded to Vina.
"Go and greet your people."
She pushed open the glass door, took a small step back to make way, and hid her figure in the shadows.
She looked at Vina with a longing expression.
Victoria possesses a vast territory, strong national power, advanced technology, and most importantly, a united people.
These are all things that Kazdel lacks.
Theresa's lifelong goal was to solve the Sarkaz's survival problem, and she was willing to sacrifice her own life for it.
She gazed at the bustling crowd outside the terrace, dreaming that perhaps one day in the future, the Sarkaz people could also gather together with such joy, singing and dancing happily, proud of their common, unified nation—Kazdel.
Vina followed Theresa's deep gaze to the palace gates not far from the terrace, where a crowd had gathered, waving Victorian flags and chanting "God save the Queen." The noble rebellion in the North was nothing to a united people. When Victoria was united, how could a mere noble rebel army possibly stop them?
Let us greet the people.
Vina nodded knowingly. She suddenly understood why Wayne had to learn those complicated Yan languages and why he often recommended those ancient Yan classics to her.
He wasn't trying to use his lack of fluency in Mandarin to openly flirt with women; he was reminding himself...
Ancient empires have compiled thousands of years of wisdom into countless classic texts. Although the ways of governing in foreign lands are difficult to learn, those that are learned will surely bring endless benefits.
Water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it. The duty of kings and nobles is to act as the bravest among the people, guiding and protecting them, not to act as the noblest among the people, exploiting and oppressing them. Perhaps this is why, after his coronation, the elder brother tried so hard to convince himself to first implement the Victorian Workers' Rights Act and the eight-hour workday?
This is the will of the people! Vina felt it; he respected the people, so the people revered him as their king.
Vina tidied herself up and walked towards the terrace. However, as Vina passed by Theresa, to Theresa's surprise, Vina gave her a small push, pushing her onto the terrace as well.
"These are your people too, and I hope you will love them as much as you love the Sarkaz."
Vina smiled and took Theresa's hand, raising her other hand to wave to the crowd outside the palace, and said softly:
"You said it yourself, we are family."
Theresa blinked in surprise, and after a long while, she nodded, touched.
"Ah."
You have a sister who was born to be a queen, Your Highness Bruce.
Theresa's eyes narrowed, and she finally made up her mind, suggesting to Vina:
“Vina, actually I have a way to find Prince Bruce.”
Vina turned her head with some surprise and asked, "What method?"
“I have a very good friend who knows the northern border of Victoria very well and has an old friendship with Earl Vincent of the North. With her guidance, we will be able to find His Highness Bruce very easily!”
Vina blinked, somewhat surprised. Theresa had a friend who knew the North very well? That was indeed good news. With most of the Northern nobles in rebellion, having a guide who had actually been to the North and had old ties with the Northern nobles could be extremely helpful.
She asked, "What's your friend's name? Where is he now?"
Theresa straightened her back and solemnly introduced Kal'tsit:
“Her name is Kal'tsit. She used to be a monk in Victoria and is still in Kazdel. She is very knowledgeable, absolutely reliable, and a pillar of society. She will definitely be able to help you. I will contact her right away!”
Vina nodded.
For some reason, she always felt that Theresa's tone sounded a bit like she was promoting a product.
.........
Victoria, County of Toronto, one kilometer outside the Earl of Vincent's domain.
Kal'tsit, who was standing behind Wayne, sneezed, rubbed her nose, and a question mark popped up above her head.
What's going on? She caught a cold.
She glanced at Wayne, only to find that Wayne looked even more surprised than she was.
What's going on? Kal'tsit caught a cold?!
Kal'tsit could only cough lightly twice and offer a pale explanation:
"Dust got in my eyes."
Wayne's lips twitched as he stared into Kal'tsit's eyes, as if to say: "Then you should be crying, why are you sneezing?"
Kal'tsit glared back defiantly, her tone defiant despite her lack of conviction—"How would I know why I sneezed? Maybe someone was talking about me."
Wayne could only turn his face away, giving her a sarcastic look that said, "You're so narcissistic." His gaze returned to the distant border of the earldom.
The heart of Dorronshire—the Earldom of Vincent. The outskirts are now heavily patrolled by Northern rebel outposts, and the distant Earl's mansion is occasionally punctuated by the sounds of fierce fighting and flashes of light.
Surprisingly, Count Vincent was still resisting. Where did he get his troops?
Wayne looked at Heidi with some confusion, but Heidi shook her head in confusion as well. She didn't know why Count Vincent, who had even taken away the Count's personal guards, still had the ability to resist the rebels. Could it be that he had some trump card up his sleeve?
Heidi couldn't understand it, but it wasn't a bad thing for Wayne and the others. The fact that Earl Vincent was still resisting meant that Heidi's words were true, and that not everyone in the North had joined the rebellion; Earl Vincent was their ally.
With their allies still fighting, Wayne had no reason not to help. He turned to Mudrock and Surtr and asked:
"Can we do it again?"
Surtr laughed heartily: "Of course!"
Mudstone nodded as well: "It's alright."
Wayne patted the two of them on the shoulder:
"Then get ready. We'll help you attract attention and give you time to prepare, so just shout it out confidently..."
"Leivatin!"
PS: Speculation on Victoria's faction in the Arknights main storyline: 1. Push King and her Glasgow gang, supported by Rhodes Island, representing the Aslan royal family, corresponding to the Norman-Plantago dynasty and the British mafia.
2EARTHA is probably derived from the Irish word éartha (to refuse, to resist), and it is estimated to be a rebel army (thanks to Old G). Judging from the colors of the flag and clothing, and in connection with the Swan's archives, I am more inclined to think of it as the Anarchist/class rebels, corresponding to the militia organizations of the constitutional movement and the vast lower-class workers.
3. The one followed by "dublinn" is Dublin, the capital of Ireland.
It should be the Deep Pool organization mentioned by the reeds (Dublin literally means "city of shallows made of reed barriers"), representing the Draco royal family and its original name, corresponding to the Celtic-Tudor royal family and the Celts.
Chapter Fifty-Eight: The Dump Truck is Here!
Victoria, the North, the Earl of Vincent's mansion.
The moon had already hung high in the sky without anyone noticing, but the stalemate in front of the Earl's mansion remained unchanged.
The Unicorns' team was positioned at various stairwells, windows, and doors throughout the Earl's mansion, guarding key points and preventing any potential rebel assassins from infiltrating the mansion.
Meanwhile, Winster stayed with Earl Vincent in the Earl's office at the far end of the third floor.
Winster was equally helpless. With the strength of the unicorns, it was impossible for them to be trapped in this small earl's mansion. No matter how strong the guards outside were, they were not as powerful as the emperor's blade or the Great Yan Imperial Guards. They were simply not enough to stop a group of unicorn troops that wanted to break through.
